First time to the Carlton restaurant where I order...
First time to the Carlton restaurant where I ordered a medium Ausie with mushrooms, the mushrooms were not on it and it was very dry. Not up to la porchetta usual standard.

Quality reduction is obvious when the calamari is over deep fried and smelly.
Perfect for big families. Delicious food and reasonable prices. Big portion meals with loaded ingredients. Been going here for over 5 years as a reliable restaurant for my big family to frequent.
This is a great Italian restaurant. My favourite is the spaghetti bolognese with lots of Parmesan cheese on top, and a chocolate gelato afterwards sometimes
An absolute classic. Because food is about stories, and memories, and layers of accumulated time - and that's what La Porchetta Carlton brings. Great value pizza, great value Lambrusco, great value ice cream - a dinner on their terrace is the best way to fight melancholy, and come back to joy!
Food is Good. Although decor needs upgrading. Customer 30 years plus.
Nice Place, Nice food.
Good place to go with children. Not super authentic but the portions are quite large and they are well priced.
Casual dining, nothing fancy.
Staff were polite and when there was an error they addressed it immediately and sorted it out.
The pizza was yummy!!
I enjoyed myself, not any complaints from me.
OMG! Closed for renovations.
Finally the place is being renovated!
The tradies sure have their work cut out... Gone are the hideous laminated selfies, the walls are finally being painted.
Hope they replace the foul old toilets too!
We'll see what things are like after they reopen.
Service was fast and very pleasant... meals came out quite quickly and were very tasty... slight hiccup with one of the dishes going to the wrong table but they were very quick to prepare a replacement as soon as it was brought to their attention... waitresses were extremely cheerful and regulary checked in on us... would definitely eat there again...
when I ordered the risotto it was everything but risotto. it was a plate full of oily melted butter with a bit of rice swimming in it. had to order a pizza instead. the pizza was alright but very very greasy and oily.
Such a unique eatery we have been going here for over a decade. It's a must for anyone visiting that area or even making a special trip. The interiors with all the pictures and bikes are something not to be missed. Food is amazing with great Italian flavours.
Always good food and good value and service. Lost a bit of atmosphere due to the reno.
Once a very busy place these days not so The chefs keep the good service and plentiful food coming but sadly the crowds have disappeared
Jan 2019: Tried the "veggie patch" vegan pizza. Very pleased to see some vegan options . Will try again soon when renovations are done and re-rate.
Great service. The cooks told me that the pizza will be done in ten minutes. I came in ten minutes and my pizza was ready.
A consistent Italian classic. An icon on the Melbourne dining scene
Great deal of coffee and dessert. Nice relax place to hangout. The staffs were friendly and my daughter loves it being there.
Always a good solid option for dinner. Great for groups.
Standard seems to have dropped since we last went a few years ago, pretty ordinary pizzas and pasta.
All I can say it RIP Rocco .
This place has gone down hill and to be honest nothing is good about this place . We sat outside and the table had some people that just left . We waited for someone to come and clean it and give us the menu , we waited 20 minutes and then went inside ourselves and asked for some service .
They came dumped the menu and water and glasses and took what was on the table with out even wiping it .
We asked for all the food to come at once , that didn t happen and it was at least 29 minutes between the food and have to say the last is like out of a frozen food container . Been coming here for 25 years but never again .
The BEST La Porchetta pizza! OMG they have renovated too!
great servings for good prices, very taste food, easy and great takeaway, nice staff, tiny bit understaffed but covid so understandable.
Absolutely brilliant, they've the best Mexican pizza I have ever had, and I couldn't recommend them enough for anyone that loves a good pizza.
On top of that, they have some of the best gelato around town!
Can not wait to get a pizza here again.
Thanks heaps for the pleasure to try your pizzas!
Ive been to Melbourne maybe 11 times 2002 first stop La Porchetta Original Porchetta Pizza Large Loving Life !!!!!!
Food was good for the price and worth the visit.
Special diet options available and clearly marked on menu.
Staff friendly and accommodating.
Gelati available in cones and punnets.
Meh. It's ok for cheapish pizza and a shrine. Their primary aim is to run their "laundry" business though. Google it.
Really good service, with very friendly staff.
The food was fantastic and delivered in very good time.
The decor was really nice - many beautiful pictures and other bits and pieces around the rooms, it created a really nice setting.
It was also nice and warmth and inviting.
I highly recommend going to this beautiful restaurant.
Friendly staff, good service and great food. Can't go wrong!
The best LaPorchetta in Melbourne. The lasagna is fantastic and groan worthy.
The original and one of the best La porchettas around. Good staff, fast food, will be back
La Porchetta is a Melbourne icon. Quality pizza at a great price. Always quality and a colorful place to eat. Love it for a catch up or a special event.
Basic menu. A old style place. Quiet and quick service. Around $45 for two.
Great service ....awesome food...do i need to say more
Nice and lovely place with delicious food:) far away from the city centre but prices are nice:)
Have been eating at La Porchetta Carlton since the 80s .. I will never ever ever get sick of the Original Porchetta Pizza. Was a bit sad to see all the old pictures taken down though.
We're not good anymore they need new Italian chefs not fake ones
Family pizza restaurant with long history. Love the decor
Really poor service. Did not get shown to our table, received water glasses butwe had ordered food about 30 minutes had to get up and find staff to ask for it. Had to also go and find the staff to order our meals, and they got the order wrong, which we realised when some of the mains were served in smaller sizes. After receiving our entrees they asked if we would like to delay our mains and we said yes that would be lovely. When finished we then sat with our 3 large empty sharing platters and assorted entree plates. After waiting some time, someone then had to get up and ask the staff to please cook the mains as no one had returned. The dirty plates stayed there and we stacked them ourselves, as we thought they might not know we were done. When the mains came, they removed a couple of dirty plates that were in their way and left the majority. The entree was good, the mains were not amazing but made worse by the empty plates with dirty napkins on them surrounding us. The kids meal was more enjoyable than the adults as the chicken was better quality than the mains. We then had to get up again and find the staff to ask the staff for the bill I don't know what happened that night in regards to service but we will not be going back again. The restaurant seemed mostly empty, and we were a large table of 8- so we don't know why the service wasn't better.
I remember as a kid watching the dough getting spun in the air n the pizza toppings being added right in front of u, twas great
As someone who grew up loving La Porchetta, I was thoroughly disappointed by my experience.
The environment at Carlton was dry and lack luster and the food was average at best and far too overpriced for the quality
Ya.....not tarsonggot my tongue walau rasanya rada" gimna gitu ke the flavor Legend.
Good food and good service. They need to stay open later on Fridays and Saturdays. I can remember when they never shut before midnight.
Great food and atmosphere! The original la porchetta :)
Food was amazing and the service was fantastic would come back again with my husband and 6 year old son.
Food was "ok" - chicken parma. Quite a thin parma, not many chips and I'm actually disappointed, given that its supposed to be a real Italian restaurant, as opposed to a pub meal. Can't say I'd eat there again. Scored one extra star because they served tomato sauce for chip dipping.
Amazing service and excellent food. The restaurant wad very cleaned and food was made quickly considering it's hand made. Besdies, the walls and roof are are adorned in photos and trinkets which paint the vibrant past of the first La Porchetta. Again, can't recommend it enough.
Nice tasting pasta and delicious garlic bread, but nothing particularly special. The interior decor is also quite disappointing as they have renovated in recent years and removed a lot of the classic old feeling of the restaurant.
Garlic bread is really good, mains were liked by everyone. Waitress accidentally broke a plate and food spilt everywhere, but was replaced quickly. Good service.
Great family atmosphere, affordable prices and always a laugh!
Cheap but satisfying. Better than a lot of classic pizza places, just not amazing, but I like it.
Been coming here for years. Great tasting pizzas and pasta. Good place to dine and drink with friends. Reasonably priced and decent serves.
Myself and my baby daughter love going there . Staffs are so friendly and welcoming . The place was so relaxing and I had so many memories in that place especially with their coffee and dessert .
Thursday parma night, ordered aussie Parma has bacon and egg , cane out with no egg so I asked where is the egg, the chef said that s how it s done then he sent me a microwaved egg because he didn t like complaints. They can t even cook eggs.
Staff are friendly, Service is good, and food is good too! Very good experience
This is the original La Porchetta. Has a longhorn character than the franchises.
C mon la porchetta
It s a morgue to Rocco only
starting to get pricey, i remember a few years ago i could take the family in and get a average feed for around $50 but now easily go over $70 and leave hungry. here's some advice go in for ice creams and then go to the chinese take away a few doors away.
First time visitor here. Early dinner at La Porchetta. Meals were nice and generous in portion size. Price not bad for inner city meal. The atmosphere i imagine must be fantastic when its full of people. The pictures all over the walls and ceilings really add character and tell a sorry about the place. Its a credit to the owners who i believe have been there for a while. I also believe its the first La Porchetta opened. Will definitely come back.
