Nice friendly service and tasty food at reasonable prices
Love this place Fantastic food including great vegan menu, atmosphere, and staff are super friendly and attentive. Definitely never dissapoints. Perfect for all occasions.
We sat down ourselves, as the three waiters were too busy talking. Then they apologize for not seeing us and proceed to ask us: "What yous want?"
We ordered a bruschetta for on tray and it came after the main meals. When my daughter got her calamari, it came with Masterfood satchels of mayonnaise and seafood dressing. I found it completely disgusting. (I felt like asking for a discount if we did wash our dishes.)
The cashier was the only member that greeted us with a smile on the way out, mind you, she wanted our money. I asked my daughter not to say anything as a mark of respect for the founder of a La Porchetta.
Rocky the owner had passed for 9 years now. Pizza is still above average but overall the original shop need update, deco n menu.
The pizzas were good and wait staff did their jobs in a professional manner but the rest of the food was served with a distinct lack of love. I dont expect a culinary experience, But walking to one of our local pubs will be a lot more attractive for my Parma next time . The food here was just slapped on the plate. Even the garden salad was poor.
our family has been a regular costumer for the past 25 years and this restaurant use to be one of my favourites but now it is my least favourite. Ever since Rocco has past away this restaurants has only gone down hill, the marinara pizzas are bland and have no flavour, before it use to be filled with toppings but now there is nothing but dough and olives. we are now never going to go there ever again and you should also as well because it is a waste of money!!!
Really good food and ambience. Their portions are generous too.
The ice cream is great and the pizza and staff are absolutely amazing.
Please see the below points to be improved upon:
1. We were not guided or instructed to take a seat, instead we seated ouselves somewhat awkwardly.....not a dealbreaker.
2. No bread and butter provided when other stores in the chain offer this.
3. Pasta arriving exceedingly quickly after ordering but waiting some time for pizza to arrive....why not send pre-made pasta with the pizza.....bad time management.
4. Chicken and avocado pasta containing a record setting amount of gristle.
5. At no point was parmesan offered and no staff were attendant enough to notice.
6. Meal being removed partially eaten without comment when it was clear there were problems with the meal.
7. Pizza was ok, but timing was terrible.
8. Not being asked how was your meal when paying. Implying that aweful dining experiences are a regular occurance, and little care is given.
Although expectations for this resturant were never high they sti l managed to disappoint, leading to this, my first ever review.....there are many other la Porchetta resturants, this one wouldnt be missed.
Lasagna was great, service staff good, venue is laidback relax
We ordered pasta and chicken parma.
Service was good but food is not as good as it use to be. I won't be going back.
Great service and great pizzas!! Pretty close to being perfect...... Thank goodness they opened up for takeaways whilst bloody Covid is still haunting us!! So if you want a great pizza, this is definitely the place to go!! It's also a great place for dining in, even though we can't do it now!! But once they reopen, do yourself a favour and go have lunch or dinner there!! It's got a great atmosphere and really enjoyable place to eat in!!
The original store of La Porchetta with the wife of the late owner running it. The food is great, but the service standards has since dropped over the years, with staff unable to remember your requests. Parking available on-street, however do check the street signs as the council parking inspectors can be rather ruthless.
Still going strong as I remember from my younger days, better even, in many ways.
Used to be great (I remember when it was only a double fronted store), now it seems like a fading star. Prices aren't that great, options can be had elsewhere with a happier atmosphere.
Great food + great staff + great service.
Prices really reasonable, eating on the outside tables a bonus and.... To top it up, it is right next to the best gelato in Australia: Yumbos!!
nice wine... ze good takeaway pastaaaaaaa. le garlic bread is also good ; good customer services, insightful and fluent menu
pizza is OK. its saving grace is the price - pretty cheap pizza
Best la porchetta place . The place to be among friends to eat and good value for your money.. .
Food quality very good. Food arrived on table very quickly. Pasta and pizza specialists. Ample parking. Good friendly service. Reasonable prices. Entree size very big.
Mexican pizza was awesome, avocado chicken pasta was alright
Ive been coming here since day dot. Angelo is still making the best pizzas and they still have the best tasting and cheapest icecream around . The New York choc that I had today was divine as ever.
As a customer here for over 30 years it's like going home. The interior has had a bit of a facelift recently (I haven't been for over a year) but the service is just the same, and so is the food quality.
Strange decor but everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the prosciutto pizza and it was very good. The schnitzel was tender and you get lots of sauce. Good value.
These guys are a lovely lot. Always look after me. Good service. Good food. And all around happy as going here.
Food , coffee and ice cream very good. But the building needs maintenance work done. Tiles and toilet seat broken, also one tap missing in the men's toilets.
Very good people before it turns to a good service, everything absolutely perfect in this restaurant.
This place is great. Excellent food and really affordable. Its busy every time I go in, but the staff are great and I've never had to wait long even when its packed to the rafters. The atmosphere is crazy but totally enjoyable.
Great food, lovely staff. I wouldn't wander in to any random LaPas but you can trust the Carlton one!
Cosy atmosphere and friendly service. Expensive for casual food. Pizza was yummy but pasta tasted like the fridged supermarket ones
Last visited in 2012 and now even after 6 years it is same. As good as ever
Great food, we had a carbonara and a chicken parmigiana tonight to share. Both were tasty and large servings!
The fresh and warm bread rolls were a added bonus!
Despite a little hiccup with the order; they handled it really well and I will definitely come back. Thank you :)
Pizza is great. Same aged photos that has not changed in 20 years. Photos of Ferraris and Rocco and gelati at the door. Good for a big family dinner, which is what we did.
The food is decent, good for satisfying a large group without upsetting anyone. The vegan menu is a nice touch but the prices seem overly inflated compared to the primary menu.
Wonderful place to have your functions you just would like have a night out the staff make you feel welcome great food and fantastic service plus the food is number one just make you want to come back keep up the good work and service
Basically no topping on our pizzas, hardly any sauce on the base, and chicken was super grissly. Overcooked ham tasted like paper or cardboard. The prices are competitive to other pizza places, but for the quality it still wasn't worth the price. Pretty disappointed.
Did both lunch and dinner here, was pleased to have a job near by to give me the excuse to have two meal here on same day. Pity this place is not closer to home.
Nice little place for an evening out. Friendly customer service. The quality of the food though has gone down hill. I felt I was eating a pre packed frozen meal that had been microwaved.
A really cosy restaurant, in a great location with nice service. I will give it another try, ordering something different next time.
Always great food, good portion sizes, quick service
Excellent pizza as always. The original and the best.
Better atmosphere than ur normal La Pork with walls adorned with many photos of the famous people who have visited here. Friendly efficient staff and reasonably priced food. Big servings on non pizza dishes.
Average. Had a schnitzel there and it was terrible. Haven't given it a second chance to redeem yet so don't write it off.
Franchise feeling, not authentic Italian. Staff rude.
Unfortunately my experience was terrible. I ordered the eggplant chips and the Arancini balls to takeaway, each squelched with cooking oil as I took a bite. Hoping I'd picked up a bad chip, or ball I tried a few others and it was just as bad, if not worse. I live in the area and was pretty chuffed to see Eggplant chips on the menu. Very disappointing.
Love the food and it's so close to home.. takes 10 mins to walk there so I order on the phone and walk there and by the time I get there my order is ready and waiting for me :)
I also love going in and eating such a lovely atmosphere and love looking at all the photos all over the restaurant :D
10/10. Changed since last visit, but staff friendly and helpful, and food yum!!!
Food is excellent. Prices very reasonable and staff are warm and friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere with outside and interior seating.
Our longstanding cheap and cheerful group catchup place. The original and the best.
The original La Porchetta, consistently good for past 25 years.
Great food friendly service good servings great tasting food
Service was good and staff friendly but the pizzas and pastas are just terrible. Cheap yes but as the saying goes you get what you pay for!
Takeaway pizza affordable and quick but didn't overly enjoy the pizzas.
A Melbourne fixture for over 35 years! Its temporary closure represents an abhorrent failure of support from the state government and local council during a time where these institutions are pushing the death of brick-and-mortar.
I hope this restaurant returns soon so I can enjoy the pizza, ripiena, arancini and risotto with my friends and family in a safe and welcoming environment.
Good honest food at Reasonable price. Lots of atmosphere, relaxed and friendly service.
Leaving behind. Not like it used to be. Pizzas to dry.
Still Numero UNO in the state! Vibrant feel & very friendly staff!
Pizza is ok but Melbourne has moved on.Good for a quick cheap night out
Good pizza. Although they got my coffee wrong. Staff had trouble understanding English
Best La Porchetta in existence! Italians make all the difference!
