Simple, inexpensive and casual dining. Gluten free options. No BYO. This is the original restaurant that inspired the franchise and the walls are covered with memorabilia of the late founder.

We sat down ourselves, as the three waiters were too busy talking. Then they apologize for not seeing us and proceed to ask us: "What yous want?"
We ordered a bruschetta for on tray and it came after the main meals. When my daughter got her calamari, it came with Masterfood satchels of mayonnaise and seafood dressing. I found it completely disgusting. (I felt like asking for a discount if we did wash our dishes.)
The cashier was the only member that greeted us with a smile on the way out, mind you, she wanted our money. I asked my daughter not to say anything as a mark of respect for the founder of a La Porchetta.

The pizzas were good and wait staff did their jobs in a professional manner but the rest of the food was served with a distinct lack of love. I dont expect a culinary experience, But walking to one of our local pubs will be a lot more attractive for my Parma next time . The food here was just slapped on the plate. Even the garden salad was poor.

our family has been a regular costumer for the past 25 years and this restaurant use to be one of my favourites but now it is my least favourite. Ever since Rocco has past away this restaurants has only gone down hill, the marinara pizzas are bland and have no flavour, before it use to be filled with toppings but now there is nothing but dough and olives. we are now never going to go there ever again and you should also as well because it is a waste of money!!!

Please see the below points to be improved upon:
1. We were not guided or instructed to take a seat, instead we seated ouselves somewhat awkwardly.....not a dealbreaker.
2. No bread and butter provided when other stores in the chain offer this.
3. Pasta arriving exceedingly quickly after ordering but waiting some time for pizza to arrive....why not send pre-made pasta with the pizza.....bad time management.
4. Chicken and avocado pasta containing a record setting amount of gristle.
5. At no point was parmesan offered and no staff were attendant enough to notice.
6. Meal being removed partially eaten without comment when it was clear there were problems with the meal.
7. Pizza was ok, but timing was terrible.
8. Not being asked how was your meal when paying. Implying that aweful dining experiences are a regular occurance, and little care is given.
Although expectations for this resturant were never high they sti l managed to disappoint, leading to this, my first ever review.....there are many other la Porchetta resturants, this one wouldnt be missed.

Great service and great pizzas!! Pretty close to being perfect...... Thank goodness they opened up for takeaways whilst bloody Covid is still haunting us!! So if you want a great pizza, this is definitely the place to go!! It's also a great place for dining in, even though we can't do it now!! But once they reopen, do yourself a favour and go have lunch or dinner there!! It's got a great atmosphere and really enjoyable place to eat in!!

The original store of La Porchetta with the wife of the late owner running it. The food is great, but the service standards has since dropped over the years, with staff unable to remember your requests. Parking available on-street, however do check the street signs as the council parking inspectors can be rather ruthless.

Used to be great (I remember when it was only a double fronted store), now it seems like a fading star. Prices aren't that great, options can be had elsewhere with a happier atmosphere.

Great food + great staff + great service.

Great food + great staff + great service.
Prices really reasonable, eating on the outside tables a bonus and.... To top it up, it is right next to the best gelato in Australia: Yumbos!!

Ive been coming here since day dot. Angelo is still making the best pizzas and they still have the best tasting and cheapest icecream around . The New York choc that I had today was divine as ever.

As a customer here for over 30 years it's like going home. The interior has had a bit of a facelift recently (I haven't been for over a year) but the service is just the same, and so is the food quality.

This place is great. Excellent food and really affordable. Its busy every time I go in, but the staff are great and I've never had to wait long even when its packed to the rafters. The atmosphere is crazy but totally enjoyable.

Great food, we had a carbonara and a chicken parmigiana tonight to share. Both were tasty and large servings!
The fresh and warm bread rolls were a added bonus!
Despite a little hiccup with the order; they handled it really well and I will definitely come back. Thank you :)

Basically no topping on our pizzas, hardly any sauce on the base, and chicken was super grissly. Overcooked ham tasted like paper or cardboard. The prices are competitive to other pizza places, but for the quality it still wasn't worth the price. Pretty disappointed.

Nice little place for an evening out. Friendly customer service. The quality of the food though has gone down hill. I felt I was eating a pre packed frozen meal that had been microwaved.

A really cosy restaurant, in a great location with nice service. I will give it another try, ordering something different next time.

Better atmosphere than ur normal La Pork with walls adorned with many photos of the famous people who have visited here. Friendly efficient staff and reasonably priced food. Big servings on non pizza dishes.

Unfortunately my experience was terrible. I ordered the eggplant chips and the Arancini balls to takeaway, each squelched with cooking oil as I took a bite. Hoping I'd picked up a bad chip, or ball I tried a few others and it was just as bad, if not worse. I live in the area and was pretty chuffed to see Eggplant chips on the menu. Very disappointing.

Love the food and it's so close to home.. takes 10 mins to walk there so I order on the phone and walk there and by the time I get there my order is ready and waiting for me :)

I also love going in and eating such a lovely atmosphere and love looking at all the photos all over the restaurant :D

A Melbourne fixture for over 35 years! Its temporary closure represents an abhorrent failure of support from the state government and local council during a time where these institutions are pushing the death of brick-and-mortar.
I hope this restaurant returns soon so I can enjoy the pizza, ripiena, arancini and risotto with my friends and family in a safe and welcoming environment.
