Kauai backcountry adventures Review

We did both tubing and zip line with this outfit. Would recommend this for everyone. We took a 5 year old and a 7 year old, they treated them like gold and made sure everyone would watch them. The lunch they serve is awesome. Last but not least the staff is great and treat you awesome. I would
Rate them higher but I can t! We will be back.

Fantastic experience that I recommend 100%. We didn't know what to expect, but after arriving at their location, their friendly staff made it very easy. They set us up with gear and then we waited in area that had some games to play while we waited. We were taken to the tubing location in an air conditioned van, and our Tour Guide Pancha was awesome. She was very outgoing and funny, and shared facts about the areas we were driving through. After we arrived, our other guide - Sherri - took us on a tour of the area pointing out the different plants and sharing stories about how these plants were used. I was very informative and a great way to start the tubing. We then entered the water, one at a time, getting into the tubes easily with Sherri's assistance.

The tubing was incredible and Sherri and Pancha made it very fun. We went through five different tunnels, each one different from the last one, and each offering a different experience. Sherri and Pancha kept the experience light with jokes, but also made sure no one got left behind or into any trouble. They were true professionals. The tubing was exhilirating!

On the ride home, Sherri and Pancha answered additional questions and made recommendations on the best places to hike, eat, and go snorkeling. By the end of the trip they felt like great friends. I wasn't sure what to expect, but after this trip, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend a few ours tubing down a Kauai river.

The tubing itself was amazing. It was beautiful there were five tunnels that were long and spooky but made it exciting. Overall just an amazing adventure that you could do nowhere else. In addition our tour guide Brennan was hilarious and entertaining the entire time. He made the trip so much fun and informed us of so many restaurants and other things to do on the island. Brennan and his sister Lexi made the trip extra special and made us laugh the entire three hours it was a blast and I would recommend it to anyone.

Had a blast. Well worth the money. This is a great trip for anyone of any age. Our groups ages varied from 39 to 73 and of all shapes sizes and athletic abilities and we all enjoyed it very much. The Staff were entertaining and engaging. Be prepared though a good portion is inside large tunnels which I wasn't expecting

A must do! Our guides were fantastic, very informative and funny. They kept us thoroughly entertained the entire time and my 12 yo boy had a great time getting dumped in the 'refreshing' water.

Nick was awesome, super great and funny keeping the people entertained during the bus ride. The actual tubing experience was fun and refreshing. We came here during our honeymoon from overseas and this is something we haven't seen before. Would highly recommend!

The staff and guides are outstanding. They are absolute professionals. The tubing is cool and fun but not that adventurous. The guides make it more fun. This is a great way to see old Kauai.

We had such a great time today! I found this place on a travel blog and watched the company s video on their site. It looked like such a fun and unique experience (but things can look great online and in real life be less than expected). I am happy to report that this tubing trip was amazing! Everything from checking in to having lunch at the end was well run by happy staff. Our guides, Kyle and Victor, were consummate hosts. Kyle gave us such a great history of the island and the property as we traveled to the tubes. He s a natural at making people comfortable and teaching - and has a great sense of humor. I could try to describe the trip - but my recommendation is to just go. I wouldn t do it justice. It s completely unique - make sure you don t miss out on it.

After learning about the tunnels, I thought I would be too claustrophobic. Chelsea and her crew were excellent however and talked me through it and I ended up having a really good time. This float is something to do when you need to cool off and get out of the sun...perhaps the day after you take that boat trip

We did the tubing. Great experience and way to see some of the inner island and history. Our guides were great and very friendly

Did the tunnel tubing. A fun gentle ride through the green luscious forest. Easy for everyone and the staff are all very nice and friendly.

Refreshing water, spiritually uplifting even. Cody is maybe the funniest Hawaiian presently on Kauai. His talents are being wasted. Seriously, this was probably the most fun experience we had visiting four islands of hawaii. Don't visit kauai and do yourself a disservice by failing to take a float with these folks.

We had 16 people in our party. From 6 y/o to senior , the crew took very good care of them and made sure everyone was having a good time and was safe. we would definitely recommend this fun adventure and go again!

What a great experience! Went tubing through old sugar plantation irrigation canals, including long stretches running underground. Guides are friendly and apparently LOVE their jobs. Ekolu (sorry if spelling is wrong) and Andrew made everything so much fun. Our entire group considered this the first or second most enjoyable experience of our trip. The water is so refreshing, and it's so beautiful inside the tunnels. Would absolutely seek this out to do it again if we ever go back.

Beautiful, amazing views! Epic yet gentle enough that my 73 yo mom had no trouble. Our guides Kanen and Seth were interesting, informative and funny. Tubing through tunnels and down flumes on this historic sugar plantation was a lifetime-favorite experience! The lunch was good with amazing cookies made just for us! If you can do one thing on Kauai, do this!

I had such a blast tubing with my family!! Everyone enjoyed it - including my 7 year old cousin and my 82 year old grandma! The guides were funny and kept us safe. Run by good, local people who really care about their guests. We all wanted to come back and do it again tomorrow!

Our tour guides Josh and Abe were very entertaining, they made the experience more fun for everyone. Overall a good time, would come back again.

The zipline was a lot of fun, provided you're good with heights and speed. Drake and Damien were our guides and they were a lot of fun to hang around with. They told us about the local culture and history, and before we left provided us with useful info about other things to do and eat on the island.

Definitely recommend this!

My family and I experienced one of the most fun filled, relaxing, exhilarating and amazing events in Kauai when we went on the tubing adventure with Kauai Backcountry Adventures. The staff at KBA were very friendly. Our tour guide, Maka, was one of the most friendly hosts ever. In addition, the two events guides were hillarious and informative at the same time. The tour is filled with wonderful sights, great insights and topped by a fun filled adventure. At the end of the tour when we were brought back to the warehouse, the restrooms were clean. Overall, KBA does the little things right in ensuring that their customers have the best experience. Would definitely recommend it to families with members of all ages .

I had a great time. The cool water was perfect on a hot Hawaiian afternoon. The tunnels were really interesting and it was a fun time the whole way. Josh and Chow were great guides.

Awesome tour and amazing customer service! My wife and I had our Honeymoon and we had a blast driving into the Kauai back-country. Tubing was great until I dropped my waterproof camera into the river! Ryan and the rest of the staff assured me that they would do their best to find our camera, as they knew we had several Honeymoon pics on it.

Only 2 weeks after our trip, I get a call from Brittney who said that they found our camera and shipping it to us immediately...Well, we just got the camera and were able to see all our great Hawaii pics, including the beginning of our tubing!

You guys sure do care about your guests and I highly recommend people to check them out, you wont be disappointed!

An enjoyable lazy float through a canal. I believe the majority of the time was through the tunnels which are pretty cool. Guide seemed quite knowledgeable about history of the area. There is a small lunch at the end that was satisfying. I thought it might have had more drops and speed based on videos I had seen but there is really only one drop and really no speed. One lady panicked (claustrophobic) on drive up after finding out it was mostly in tunnels even though the waiver warns specifically of claustrophobia. She did fine from what I could tell. An 8 year old girl cried from start to finish but it was a quiet sob so that was nice.

Chelsey and Maka were our tour guides and they were awesome. So much knowledge and history from two Kauai natives and super funny. One of our best experiences. Recommend everyone who visits Kauai goes tubing.

We had a great afternoon out with Josh W and Cody as our guides. The tubing itself was both fun and relaxing at times and beautiful scenery to check out. The views of the old volcano and lunch were also nice additions to the trip.

Marcus, our guide, made this experience unforgettable! The water was cool but refreshing. I wish it lasted a lot longer than it did.

We had a great time! Dustin, our guide was great! We heard that the water was cold, but it wasn't too bad at all... even for my wife, who is a big sissy when it comes to cold water. We spent about an hour in the canal and traveled underground through several tunnels. After we were done, we had a very nice sandwich-bar style picnic. I would absolutely recommend this trip and I would even take this trip again for myself. Thank you Kauai Backcountry Adventures!

Awesome experience, can't race enough! So organized and our guides were hilarious. Went with our whole family including our 6 year old. All ages can handle!! Beautiful area too.

Must do activity on Kauai! Rafa and Wyatt are A+ guides! The water is refreshing! The tour was the right mix of adventure and relaxing! This was a highlight of our vacation and would do it all again!

We did a morning tubing adventure. I found the location very easy to find, we parked to the right and checked in. We were immediately fitted for helmets and gloves, then we waited for everyone else to arrive and get checked in. Once everyone was there we loaded in two vans and headed up to the tubing area. The ride was bumpy but not bad at all, our guide was Alex...she was great, we did some ice breakers along the way and she gave us a bunch of info on the area we were heading to.

Once you arrive on the "property" you make one stop for some photos then head to the loading area. They do a safety briefing then get everyone situated to get started. The actual tubing was great, the water is not deep and does not move too quickly...the trip lasted 45 minutes to an hour.

It rained almost the entire time we were there, but when the sun did come out it was strong so some sun screen wouldn't hurt. If you have bug spray available, some is good to have on especially around the loading area, but we didn't have any and only suffered a few bites. They serve lunch after the ride, my wife said she could have done without this part, but I thought it was fine. I brought a change of clothes and was able to change at the lunch area, tho a lot of people didn't. Some rode with some type of shirt on, some didn't, if your looking to bring a GoPro that shouldn't be a problem as the water is moving slow enough.

Overall a fun, unique activity. Staff was friendly, fun and helpful, we would consider doing this again if we were able to go back to Kauai.

This was such a fun activity! I had really been looking forward to this since we booked our Kauai Vaca several months ago. It was certainly not disappointing at all!
I booked our excursion for 0830 which I thought might be a tad early and the water temp might be a little brisk. This was definitely not the case.
We got to stop and see lots of gorgeous views on the way to the water entry point. We got to see several scene settings from Jurassic Park.
HUGE big ups to the crew that took us out. Johnny and Chelsea were very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole trip a great time all around. Gotta give it to Johnny! He played the Uke and sang the ENTIRE float. He had some awesome remixes and very much went with the flow. No pun intended.
Lunch was simple but very good with plenty for all to eat.
This tour is awesome for all the reasons I stated above but you truly get to see part(s) of the island that you really would not get to see otherwise. This is a great idea for the fam and people of all ages.
The last tunnel with the Lights Off (for a very special reason) was a great way to cap it all off.
One last time, super big thanks to Johnny and Chelsea for such a great time. Lots of smiles, fun, and information about the area and history.
Can t wait to take my kids in a few years when they ll appreciate the beauty and fun.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but once we were outfitted with helmets and gloves we were loaded up into Vans and taken up the mountain for about 30 minutes. All the while the guides were helping everyone to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Once at the top, we were briefed on safety and procedures then each one of us was provided a solid inter-tube. There are 5 tunnels which were longer than I expected and I was concerned that one of my group was claustrophobic. However, the guides made it relaxing with ukelele playing and the tunnels were wide (6-8ft min) and well ventilated. My friend had no problems at all. Plus we were moving fairly fast so the whole experience went by with nothing but joy and lots of laughs. There were folks from 10-70 in our group of about 20 and everyone had a great time. This is something I will do EVERY time I visit the island. The guides were great, funny, informative, and vigilant.

This was definitely worth the time to take this adventure! Johnny & Jessie gave us a great float. The 5 tunnels were great. Take the time to look up, you might see some interesting stuff. The guides are knowledgeable, and ensure everyone enjoys the experience. Be sure to ask about the real history of the canals, it is always worth learning about the past. Definitely recommend!

We took the tubes down the old cane fields. It was surprisingly not what I had expected. I'm a little scared of being in rough waters, so it was a comfort to me to find out the water is only 3'-4' deep. 3 guides are with you the whole way. Beautiful ride to the starting point. It's a good way to relax & cool off, there is a place they stop to allow those that want to get in the water, to do so. I would definitely recommend this!

Tubing changed my whole perspective on life. When you are on the tube, you are one with the tube. A symbiotic bond forms. Traveling thru the irrigation canals of time's past, you inherently embrace the traditions of those who came before. The legend and oral history from generations ago permeate your being through the vibration of a vintage PA operated by your tubing Sherpa. Ok enough of the transcendental talk. This tour was beyond rad. BJ and Johnny were hilarious and quite informative. I walked away knowing and having more fun than I thought I would. Also, let's not forget the guy who got us up to the top of the mountain and reigning employee of the month, Ese. His unstated quick wit was on point. This is a really unique tour. I don't know where else you could get the same experience. Do yourself a favor and get your tube on....you won't regret it.

What a great time, the guys who take you up, and take care of you in tubes are exceptional. They give you a ton of great history, and information on the way about area you tube thru. We all had a ball, the scenery is amazing, the water is refreshing, not cold at all. I have not laughed that much in long time. Special thanks to Chasen and the crew for making it such a memorable event in my life.

My wife and I did the irrigation tubbing while in Kauai for our honeymoon. Wyatt and Kyle were our guides for the trip and they were excellent! Both had a great sense of humor and a great knowledge of the area. The tubbing was a lot of fun, but the guides made it so much better. Our tubes were up near the front with Wyatt and we talked to him most of the time tubbing. He was hilarious and had a lot of knowledge about the irrigation path we were tubing. The path and the tunnels are very cool and a lot of fun to tube. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for something fun to do while in Kauai!

Our guide was Chelsea and Kai. They were so much fun and so education. The tubing adventure was refreshing and beautiful and relaxing. I absolutely would recommend this tour and would love a chance to do it again.

Our group really enjoyed this tubing run. Fortunately we were not expecting a white water rafting trip (we are from Colorado). Since our expectations were for 'just a float trip' this turned out to be the perfect trip. The experience is extremely unique, and probably not available anywhere else due to the experience in the watering channels. The guides were great. The whole experience was easy and fun. Highly recommended!
