Kauai backcountry adventures Review

The tour guides were awesome! They work hard to bring the group together and not feel like a bunch of strangers just tubing. BJ and Lucky were our tour guides.

Great informative crew, kept the mood alive, a refreshing dip in the ditch! We enjoyed our time, had great photos from the crew we purchased, learned alot, they made great recommendations for dinner following, we also rented a go pro and have alot of footage of our day! Thanks so much guys from the drivers to the guides and camera crew all went well and was easy to do!!!

Absolutely fantastic adventure. Our guide (Troy) was a blast and the adventure was fun and informative. It was the most fun I had all week. The water was refreshing...the tunnels fun and the stories memorable.

Great fun in these clean mountain irrigation tunnels. Best to wear long sleeves if you tend to get cold. You are always floating on the top of the water, so not bad. Lots of fun. Its like bumper cars in the water, in the dark with lights on your heads! The guides took care of us. Be sure to wear some sort of water shoes. The water is only 3 ft. deep.

We had a fantastic time with guides Wyatt and Marcus on our tubing adventure - they were super fun and informative and gave us some great recommendations of where to eat and snorkel. Bring your waterproof camera (or phone in a waterproof bag), but they also rent GoPros - they take some photos along the way that you can purchase as well. We had awesome weather so that helped too, I wouldn't want to go in the middle of winter when the water is freezing, but I definitely recommend this activity!

We thoroughly enjoyed mountain tubing with Kauai Backcountry. From check-in and transport through a private ranch, Sean and the crew made it a fun experience. This is definitely an adventure everyone will enjoy. Not a "Roaring Rapids", this is a gentle, yet exhilarating ride through Kauai's historic past, with much of the tubing through tunnels. We would recommend this to anyone ... plus the price is quite reasonable compared to other activities in Hawaii. You won't regret doing this activity.

Awesome adventure and Chelsea, our Guide was great!!

People can talk on and on about the tour and the tube ride, but often forget to mention the staff/workers. Of course the tour and tube ride was AMAZING but what makes it more amazing is the workers. I cannot begin to share how awesome and friendly everyone IS, so welcoming and so much Aloha was given to all the visitors not to mention well knowledge of the location and history of this beautiful place. The people at the check in desk and the gear desks, but my awesome memory of Kauai Tube Ride will have to end with Tour Guides LUCKY, CHOW, KYLE, and KAI...mahalo for the good humor and laughs, you guys made it so much fun.

This excursion started our trip and it was so much fun! The tour guide was awesome and so funny and we literally found the best places to eat from him. The water wasn't cold and the tunnels weren't terribly claustrophobic if that is a worry for some of you. We learned a lot about the tunnels on the ride up and they gave us a picnic lunch after which included make your own sandwiches, cookies, chips, water and time with a friendly stray cat :) They supply all the gear and take photos for you. The guides at the top are helpful and funny as well. We had such a great time.Our guides were Jake, Nicoa and Lai. Would definitely go again and again if we could. Worth every penny you spend. They have a nice waiting area with bathrooms as well.

I definetly recommend this awesome and educational adventure. The energetic tour guides made the trip double the fun. This is a reason to come to Kauai.

This adventure was so fun! We went in October and the weather and water was perfect. Cute little sandwich lunch at the end and a private changing room to get out of your wet clothes. Staff is funny and engaging

Pancha and Dave were our guides and they were the best! Fun, energetic, informative and a amazing. Lots of different experiences from fast to slow, in and out of tunnels. A must do!

Had a blast. I am 70 years old and would do it again. Was with my wife who's 60 and my son, his wife and our 2 grand children 5 and 8. They were not scared and we felt safe. Our guide C and BJ were the best. So friendly and really watched out for the kids. Lovely time tubing and we even got a wonderful lunch at the end. So much fun.

It was awesome. The crew (Sierra and Canan(?) made it so much fun and I wish I could do it again.

The tubing was fun but the team that runs the place is the best! Boo Boo, Sheri and Nick were it guides and I can't say enough things about them. So much fun to learn a little, see a little and laugh a lot. Family and adult friendly.

The Kauai Back County Tubing Adventure through the caves was a great experience. B.J. and C were great guides. They were knowledgable and a lot of fun. My wife and I would recommend this very fun experience to anyone.

We had such a great time on the tubing tour with these guys! Class and aloha from start to finish. Kanen had us smiling and relaxed the whole time. Weather didn t cooperate but you wouldn t have known the difference. These guys are super knowledgeable and welcoming. Definitely plan to return to zip line for our next trip.

These guys were awesome. Very knowledgeable and funny aswell. Bring a waterproof cover for your phone and also secure to yourself. You don't want to lose it in the water.

Me and my family had an amazing time here! Our event guide, Johnny Bear, was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire island and gave us very useful information that made our experience at Kauai even more amazing! The Tubing experience was incredible, the sights and caves were very beautiful. Overall I highly recommend this activity and you will not regret it! It's for the entire family.

Shout out to Macie and Sierra! Man you guys really made this a trip we will never forget! Such a fun adventure. Highly recommend this breath taking refreshing and relaxing ride to everyone! Great job girls! Plus we got to wear these super sexy water shoes.

We had an amazing time! Richard and BJ were our tour guides and they did a wonderful job! We loved BJ's singing and Ukulele playing in the tunnels, and Richard was very knowledgeable and personable, they all had a great sense of humor and learned everyone's names so fast! We had a fantastic time and will recommend it to all our friends and family!

The best staff I have ever met! From check in, our guides to our drivers everyone was friendly and knowlegable!!!! When our 8 year old was ahead or behind us in the water we didn't worry because there were a lot of staff there to help him along and keep him company, we knew he was safe! Trip of a lifetime! AMAZING TOUR! I went solo but everyone in the tour was just as excited as I was to be there, which made for a hilarious trip! Our tour guides were funny and super friendly, and Musubi the cat was adorable! We finished with lunch in the middle of the jungle, next to a gorgeous swimming hole. A must-do for Kaua'i!

Had a great time... Kyle was a great guide and funny too...our driver Chadd with two D's was also quite entertaining...they made a good pair....and a fun ride...Kivan and Kiono and Kyle made it a great tubing experience...so many laughs...3/11/20 @3:30...it's a must to go on this trip!!!

My sister and I went tubing with Kauai Backcountry Adventures and had an amazing time! Our tour guides, Kyle and Wyatt, were fun and knowledgeable and made for a great experience. Tubing through the old irrigation canals of a sugar cane plantation (and the tunnels for the canal) was a unique experience that I definitely recommend!

The trip was an absolute blast. Even though it rained during our trip, that didn t matter at all. The water was comfortable, the scenery was beautiful, and our tour guides Kainan and Cheri were so much fun! Definitely recommended for any Kauai trip!

Loved every moment of our tour. We decided to take our 7 year old on a repeat trip to share this fun experience with his older brother, who is now 13. Kauai Backcountry Adventures always knows how to have fun! We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the beautiful island paradise of Kauai.

Tour was even better than we expected! Our tour guides Josh & Chow were very knowledgeable about the history of the plantation & taught us a lot about the surrounding plants & wildlife. They kept things fun & interesting on the van ride to the actual tubing location. The beautiful landscape & 5 tunnels made the route lots of fun. Great activity for children & adults looking for something that's adventurous but not too crazy.

Floating Lihue Plantation.
This was a fun and relaxing excursion near Lihue and the airport. The float lasted about an hour or so, and took you through the irrigation channels of the former Lihue sugar plantation. You go through about 5 tunnels/caves and have head lamps to guide the way. The price is pretty steep at over $125 pp (which includes a packed lunch). However, this tour is good for most ages (5+) and levels of activity, so if you have members in your party who might not want to do some of the other more strenuous activities in Kauai, this could be a good option. Guides were friendly and informative, and made it a great time.

Loved the tubing adventure. It really is for anyone. Very relaxing and a lot of fun. Could have been a bit longer though but still loved it.

What a blast! Daughter and I went, left the boys to their golf game. The entire production was very organized. Our guides Johnny and Jandi were professional, friendly and funny. This is a must do in Kaua'i.

Our mountain tubing adventure was an absolute blast! Cody and Chelsea were incredible tour guides who were full of great information and kept the whole group entertained the entire trip. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to have a truly Wonderful Experience with a fantastic group of people!

A lot of fun and educational. A must do if you have kids. Grown ups will enjoy the day. 1st time I was cool all week.

The trip was a great adventure for our whole family. Our five year old loved it, though he had a bit of trouble with tunnel 5 because he is afraid of the dark. The ukelele playing and singing made the whole trip amazing. Highly recommed for anyone looking to do something fun and a bit different.

The lava tubes sound like an amazingly fun activity but was a real let down. They are good for a 5 year-old but anyone older than 12 would get bored right quick. The only reason I am giving this three stars instead of one is that we had some nice guides that did a fantastic job of trying to keep the group entertained. There is plenty else to do that is more worth your time and money in Kauai.

This was awesome! Marcus and cameron were our guides, super chill and friendly. Its a really laid back ride with almost no effort needed, my wife and I highly reccommend. I wish i could remember the man at the front desk with glasses' name, but he helped us out a ton too - our travel agent mixed up the time we were supposed to be there so we just missed our group, he happily found an opening in a later group and let us go then, great company and a lot of fun :)

Tubing down irrigation ditches from an old sugar plantation in Lihue. There are also 5 caves that were carved out by pickaxes in the late 1800s that you will go through. Get to hear a bit of history of the area from the tour guides who were awesome ( mahalo RJ and Pancha ) totally fun and totally worth doing. Had so much fun I forgot to take more pictures. They also offer a zip line tour if you don t feel like getting wet.

We had a great time here with the tubing tour. Michael was our guide and Kyle. Michael was funny and made the trip fun. Plus he recommended so many good places to eat and things to do!

This was such a fun time. Our guides were top notch. I'm sorry I don't remember their names but they are brothers and they are hilarious. Highly recommend this adventure for the whole family. It rained when we went and it totally added to the adventure.

Mixed feelings on this one... Tour guides were absolutely amazing, but honestly I have no idea how anyone could say they enjoyed the actual tubing. They should offer an option where you can pay half the tubing cost to just sit back in the van they use to transport guests and listen to the guides talk about the island.

The problem is that the tubing isn't really adventurous, and on the other hand it's not relaxing either. Speeds hover around walking/crawling for most of the trip, but due to the narrow width of the waterway you're floating down and the rocks/concrete wall(s) on either side, most of the trip was dedicated to spinning off one side to the other and making sure your hands/feet/ankles are positioned in a way where they're not going to awkwardly jam against either embankment. Tunnels with minimal lighting just made the above task more awkward/arduous.

For the portions of the tubing where rocks/concrete walls were not a concern, the next thing that came up for just about everyone on the trip, was naturally getting stuck against a mudbank, or slow moving embankment. So much fun!

Add on the fact that if you plan on "enjoying" the trip with a friend/group of friends, and that naturally the group will be just about immediately split up from each other due to the physics of moving water and narrow spaces..., and I'd say save your $125 per person for some other activity.

Pretty fun but not as exciting as I was expecting you go pretty slow the whole time. If you're looking for something extreme this is definitely not it.

Very fun little trip. Learned a lot of cool facts about the old sugar days of the island and had a blast in the tunnels. Keep that helmet on, I learned first hand that not only are they necessary, but they are VERY effective. I nailed a rock and barely felt it.

Also I need to address the water. While it may not be as warm as the ocean, it is still very comfortable and not particularly jarring when entering. 5 seconds in and you're perfect. Compared to every body of natural water I've been in back at he (Washington) this was very warm. Don't second guess it if you think you'll be uncomfortable, it's great.

We had a wonderful time! The ride up was gorgeous with a stop for pictures, and of course the awesome stories and history from our guide "Hollywood." The tubing was a ton of fun- relaxed, with a little speed, and again the guides made it! This is a totally unique adventure and specific to just Kauai, would recommend as a "must do" while here.

Josh and Keenan were AMAZING guides! They were super knowledgeable and hilarious. We had so much fun with them as our guides. They made the trip absolutely awesome!

Lots of fun, excellently run. Great guide, Paul - knew so much about sugar cane, Kauai and its history and presented it in a fun humorous way. I was ready to go again.

What a well run organization and spectacular fun. I was worried about the drive and potential motion sickness spinning on the tubes. No need to worry. Ride was only a bit bumpy not as bad as site makes it out. And it was easy enough to control direction tubing. The guidance were so much fun. BJ was in our transport and kept us amused with jokes and interesting history on the way there and cool things to do, see and where to eat on the way back. Don t miss this experience. Worth the time and money!

This was the highlight of our trip. We all have different interests and adventure levels, so this was something we all could enjoy! The tunnels were beautiful, and the views were spectacular. Our family will treasure this memory!

We had so much fun innertubing! The guides were very informative and so much fun to hang out with. I thought I might get claustrophobic in the tunnels, but had no problem. I highly recommend going on any adventures offered by Kauai Backcountry.

Excellent place to go for a local adventure! We did tubing here and it was wonderful. Not too fast, not too slow, and the tunnels were wild! Poncha and Andrew were awesome guides that were kind and knowledgeable along with their fun antics and Ukelele music. Free lunch was not too shabby either. All in all it was definitely worth the tim and money.

Mountain tubing was a blast. We appreciated the tour guides sharing the history of Kawaii and pointing out the local plant life.

It was soooo much fun! The water is a bit chilly but didn't stop us from having a blast. It was definitely a different experience and would recommend it to anyone!

This was amazing, we had a great guides throughout the trip. Nick was very informative in the history of the plantation and island as well as one hell of a funny guy. We were cracking up almost the whole time. Thank you all for the awesome experience.

We zip lined with BJ & Bundy on Thursday 9/25. Both guys were great and helped my mom a lot with any steps/slippery spots. Both guides were awesome and super friendly. They made us have fun in the pouring rain.

We tubed the ditch with Derrick, Eric, & Kai and had a ton of fun. All 3 guys were great and made us all smile and laugh. Kai was great entertainment at the back of the pack and was really sweet to talk to. He's wise beyond his young age of 18.
