Kauai backcountry adventures Review

This was an awesome unique experience you cant get anywhere else on the island. They take you deep into the Kauai back country and stop for incredible views of the volcano that created the island then head down to the 1800s irrigation channels for a refreshing float through the lush forest and tunnels where you can see the original pick axe marks from their creation. Definitely recommend trying. We had 3 awesome guides (Eric, kainan, and chow) if you get one of them your sure to have a good time.

We had a great time with our large group. The guides, Damian, Johnny and Wyatt, were knowledgeable, skilled, friendly and entertaining. I would definitely do it again and would highly recommend to anyone coming to Kauai!

AMAZING! Our tour guides were Chasen and Kanin! These guys were the best! They were very informative with safety, and the history of the land, how this all started, & also hilarious! This was such a fun, amazing experience! I can't wait to get back to take my kids! This is a must and worth every penny! Thanks guys for this experience!

I am still nursing a baseball size bruise from this experience. Fortunately, I am over the nausea caused by the constant spinning. They gave us instructions on "butts up" , they don't pay attention if you were in the back of the line of tubes. Since as a smaller adult I was put in a "child"s" tube, I ended up in the back not by choice. They called butts up @50 yards from before the actual time I needed to do so. Instead, they said "look up for your photo" at the time I should have been doing butts up. Irresponsible on them to make money from taking photos! Also, time spent spinning inside of the dark tunnels was 80% of the time which means that enjoying the sun and scenery was only 20%. Who knew?

Awesome experience!! They earn you the water is 'cold' but it was perfect, it's a fresh water stream, it's a lot more refreshing than the hotel pools. This trip is a must

Simple put if you come to Kauai you have to come here it's so fun so informative and Kevin and Saxon made our whole tour group feel like family from the very beginning. Seriously don't leave this island without coming here!

Tubing was an awesome once in a lifetime adventure, so glad we found this place. Your will not be disappointed. Drea was out guide, loved her free spirit, her love for life and fun.

The tubing adventure was awesome for my family. The staff were fun but very professional. The equipment was excellent. The safety helmet and gloves were essential. The water was refreshing, but not noticed after the initial dip. I would recommend this activity for anyone, but especially for families with teens or adventurous pre-teens.

This was one of the coolest experiences ever! We had an awesome guide (Dustin) cracking jokes and giving us cool history and as we drove up to the tubing site. Tubing itself was a great way to see the island -- you go through 3 tunnels and enjoy lazy rivers and little rapids in between. Water was refreshing on a hot day. Our other two guides Canaan and Jordan were fantastic. They also gave us lunch before bringing us back. Highly recommend!

I had so much fun and highly recommended them!! We did the tubing and mostly any age can do it. The staff was amazing!

Overall, a nice excursion... Hike through mud wasn't super fun and the kayak part was quite long, but the waterfall payoff was worth it.

Tubing was soo much fun! All the guides were amazing and helpful, especially with my family. The water is refreshing and you will get used to it! Don't say cold or they will splash you! But super fun! I would also recommend doing this on the Big Island as well!

Had an amazing time! We had Chelsea as our tour guide and she was nice and was an amazing tour guide, informing us about the island's history. The water was nice and refreshing, and the ride down the streams was soooo relaxing. Definitely worth it!

Fun experience! The ride up the mountain was enjoyable, tour guides were so fun and personable. Tubing experience was much funner than I imagined, you spend alot of the trip through the canal going through tunnels. They give you helmets with lights so you can see if it gets too dark. Bring good water shoes!

Staff was absolutely incredible. If you haven't done tubing I highly recommend going on this adventure. Johnny and Junior were a blast to have a guides - very entertaining.

A ton of fun for the whole family. They were especially helpful with our son who has cerebral palsy - they made the trip accessible which was a huge plus for us. Can t thank them enough.

I've been fortunate to go to Kauai several times and have done quite a few excursions and this one ranks up there as one of my favorites. Getting to tube down such a unique water route with tunnels and a short drop was so much fun. If you're considering doing something unique on the island go for this. I wasn't sure how it would be since it's tubing - but it was well worth it!

We weren't really crazy about the short zip lines, yes there were several zip lines but they were very short and it was over before we knew it. The staff was nice and we did have fun. I won't ever do this zip line again.

We really enjoyed the tubing experience. I get scared easily in closed off and small spaces. During this trip, I always felt safe and laughed a ton. It was so much fun. Our tour guides, Paul and I think her name was Mia (not to be confused with her twin, Sierra), were absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable. They kept us laughing and were one of the highlights of the trip.

Great experience, great guides! Definitely would do it again. We had older age ranges of young adults to early grandparents and it was fun for all. Don't expect to always be with who you float with just as a PSA. We had a party of 5 and had a fantastic time (although a few were upset we weren't always "floating together", but that's almost impossible with the water).

After 3 days of hiking in Waimea Canyon the Tubing adventure was a perfect excursion for us and we are glad we decided to do it. Guides were funny, views we're beautiful and weather was great. It was a perfect way to relax and enjoy Kauai.

Great fun with our guides Raymond and Thomas! Raymond was very knowledgeable about local history and even shared some of his family's history with us. Thomas got us to the drop off site and back quickly and safely. The adventure itself was awesome and our 17, 15 and 8 year olds enjoyed every second. Mahalo nui Kauai Backcountry Adventures!

Went on a float yesterday had the time of my life. I am 71 and I felt like a kid again.

This was an awesome adventure ! The staff was super fun and friendly. Our main guide Rich made it a great time! Highly recommend.

I feel like I was completely misled. This was basically paying a lot of money to go to the local pool and floating around in the lazy river. The water was cold, but got used to quick. Our guide was good, and did the best he could with what was given. Probably a great tour for older people looking for a relaxed time. If your looking for a adventurous time, this is not it.

This tour was a blast! The tour guide was funny as she guided us during the ride (in an open wagon/trailer thing) up to the tubing site. We stopped at a scenic overlook for pictures in front of Mt. Wai'ale'ale. A view only people on the tubing tour get. The tubing through lava tunnels was really fun and very cool, and felt like just the right length, and again our guide was great. And it was nice to be given a lunch before heading back. I recommend this very highly! The only things on our trip that topped it was swimming in the Hanakapiai Falls and our doors off helicopter tour(which was way more expensive) so this tour is very worth it.

I enjoyed everything about the water tour. The ride there and back was nice because the guides were so informative as well as funny. The actual tubing was nice and relaxing. I will say that it is overpriced. $115+ per person for what amounts to less than an hour in the water is excessive. I've bought season passes (unlimited visits for a year) to amusement parks for less than that. I'm still giving it 5 stars but c'mon guys, it should cost half of what it does. Can't knock their hustle, though, because it seems to be working regardless. The tours were mostly full throughout the week I was in Kauai.

I went tubing with my husband and 5 kids. The kids range from 6 years to 14 years old. As soon as we were in the water, my six year old was separated from my husband, our other kids, and me We were never with her through the whole adventure. She was behind us. After we all got out, she told me she fell through the tube. I m not sure if this is true or not because I couldn t see her but for a few glimpses. I think if your kids are 6-8 and are on the small side, you have to consider that you will not be kept together and are encouraged to not try and group . This did make me uneasy while tubing.

The staff was so nice and funny. They took time to give tips on local activities and restaurants. The water is "refreshing". The first step into the water is shocking but after you've been in the water for a while you get used to it. The tubing was a relaxing experience with beautiful views of trees and a series of tunnels. I would definitely recommend this to my friend's, co-workers, and family.

Totally amazing and worth it! Kaili and Luie (spelling?) were our guides for the tubing adventure. They were full of great information, humor, and recommendations. The water was very refreshing and amazing. Tubing through the tunnels and ending in the lazy river was so much fun. I have been to Kauai twice, but this was my first adventure with Kauai Backcountry Adventures. I will definitely be doing more activities with them in the future!

Lucky and the Gang will keep you laughing as you explore acres upon acres of private property before you tube down a 5 tunnel aqueduct system and after tubing is over they provide a nice lunch at a picnic area. Over the 3 hour experience, you learn a lot about the history and culture of Hawaii just by listening to the guides. I would make this a must on anyone's Hawaii vacation.

We had such a fantastic time mountain tubing in Kauai down the sugar cane canals.
So glad we booked this before we left home as it books out early.
The staff were awesome people, funny, informative and very professional.
When we got to the end I just wanted to go back and do it all over again.

Tuba Dan and Chelsea were absolutely wonderful for our mountain water tubing adventure. Loved the scenery and stories on the way. The tunnels and overall pace were great. We all truly enjoyed it!

We loved tubing in the old sugar plantation! Our tour guide Damien was awesome. He was native to Kauai and gave us awesome information around the island. It was so relaxing to float down the river and through the caves. We even had a picnic lunch provided by the staff. This tour was so unique, easy going, and fun!

THE ACTUAL BEST ADVENTURE ON KAUAI. I was one of the first to participate in the combo zip lining / tubing package. It is WORTH IT and honestly the BEST deal on the island. I believe this is the only place that offers tubing in Kauai so why not throw in zip lining for much cheaper than the other places? Our tour guides, Michael and Drake, were so fun and very informative. This wasn't my first zip line but they definitely helped first time zip liners feel safe. And the views, the VIEWS! Everything was so fun.

What a fabulous company! The team is upbeat, knowledgeable, and great at what they do! We had Wyatt and Brendan as our guides on the tubing trip and they were so much fun! I highly recommend this company if you are looking for an adventure on your vacation in Kauai!

This has been the most fun on our visit! HUGE MAHALO & much LOVE to our guide Maycee! Our Driver & also the Water Guides were super great, I am just bad with names but want them to know they were much appreciated! This is a must do for everyone!

Myself and wife were on holidays in Honolulu and only went to Kauai to do this tubing adventure. It was sooooooo much fun!

From the incredible friendly and professional tour guides to the unique tranquility of tubing through the backcountry, including our favourite part of the tour the dark caves. It was a day we ll never forget.

We had an great time on our tubing adventure. They were able to provide a small tube for our small (45 lb) daughter and she had an awesome time. Even the persistent rain didn't dampen our good time. Our tour guides were amazing!

Thanks to BJ and Daren my wife and I had a blast. Zip lining is a lot safer than I thought it would be. Expecially with the professional guides. Unbelievable views. Make sure you shoot some video, its a lot of fun to rewatch! And tip your guides people, there worth it!

Great company. We loved the tubing. Guides Maddie, Caden and Jordan were fun, entertaining, and very personable! It was really interesting to go through the tunnels and imagine the work it took to create them. The scenery is beautiful, and it's a privilege to be able to experience it. The water is a little brisk, and we were glad to have rash guards. Don't miss this tour!

The tubing adventure was soooooo much fun! Our guides Keanna & Chelsea were awesome - informative & funny. It's a must when visiting Kauai. It takes about 3 hours round trip, with about an hour in the water, and a nice lunch afterwards. You go through tunnels, some rapids, and a nice slow paced "lazy river" at the end. We'll definitely be back!

Well-decorated, employees were very respectful and helpful, complimentary bananas, great backdrop for photo op, and TWO Cornhole games. This business knows what it's doing and it SHOWS. Can't wait for the tubing to start!

We did the tubing and it was a blast! The guys running it are really cool too. They engage everyone on the drive to where you start, give you good amount of history and local knowledge. The tubing and tunnels are fun. There was a young girl who was with her family. The guides made her feel really special and took good care of her. At the end they had a pretty good lunch and kept things moving along.

We did the tubing experience and it was absolutely fantastic. Pancha was amazing guide!

I would have to agree with the person who said that the guides are more enjoyable than the actual tubing adventure; however, it's definitely an enjoyable experience. We tubed on 4/5 and had Johnny and Sierra, and one other guy (sorry forgot his name). They were just so genuine. Johnny was our van MC and he did a great job keeping the conversation going and just being personable overall. Can't teach that type of dedication. Sierra is also great at going over the safety part. Overall, everyone really seems to love their job, so that's a plus in my book.
