If this was the greatest sandwich I've ever eaten, I would have been back.

It's been almost three years.

At the time, I spent about 16 dollars on a reuben that ended up being more sinew than I would have preferred.

Go if you'd like to experience Katz's (It is definitely a unique place!) but your love/hate for over-priced tendons will dictate your desire to return.

Sandwich was delicious but very expensive ($26). I went for the pastrami Reuben. Could barely get through it on my own. Worth checking out once in your life, don't think I'll return at that price though.

You know what, the brisket of beef sandwich is heavenly and the pastrami is devine. Does the sandwich really have to cost $ 24 dollars though? I hadn't been to Katz for 20 years or more, the sandwiches didn't seem as large as I remember. You do get pickles with the $24 sandwich but no fries or coleslaw, lettuce or tomatoes and certainly not a drink. Definitely a tourists haven, Katz must have pulled in half a million dollars today alone.

I mean, what do I need to say about Katz's that hasn't already been said. It's a fixture and it's amazing. Is it worth the cost or the wait? Probably not, but I'll still come here every time in in NYC because of the atmosphere and repeatability. Yes you can eat a whole sandwich yourself which makes it a $25+ meal, but you really should share one, get some fries, maybe some dessert. Save your stomach a bit.

Also don't be in a rush. The line outside takes at least 20-30 mins and once inside at least another 15+ mins.

The pastrami sandwich here is the go to item to get! It is a bit pricey for a sandwich but the portion is large with a lot of meat. It also comes with pickles which are really good even though I don't like pickles.

I didn't have the pastrami, but the tuna fish was just ok. They give you huge portions for high prices. I could not eat an entire sandwich. My wife and I split the tuna fish. Workers were very nice. Tables are crammed together, with not enough time for the staff to wipe down the tables when busy. I don't have any reason to go back.

I don't write reviews often but when I do it is when one is due. In short, the place is way overpriced for what it is - a very basic overrated deli. The food was definitely fresh and large in portion but also super basic/bland. For the time and money, you are better off skipping this place.

I flew to New York and was only told of one place to go and eat at. "Pastrami sandwich and make sure you get the pickles" it was like 24$ for the sandwich so if I wouldn't go here every day, definitely worth the experience.

Katz was a delight. Food was delicious. They have a large authentic menu serving big portions and priced affordably. The staff were really friendly and happy to help. Plenty of locals eating there made it clear this is a proper NYC establishment not just a tourist trap. Gets busy at lunch so it's best to arrive early if you want a cruisy, comfortable meal.

We went Saturday around noon, the line moved well. I can t believe it s as good as it was when I went as a kid. The soup, potato pancakes, hot dog, Kinish (round and square), pastrami were as good as ever. I do remember their being more meat on the sand which and the warrior didn t write down order, forget our fries and brought wrong sodas out. Other then that a home run. I highly recommend. Get the table service. The russian dressing in a little container I didn t like. And now they give coffee cups with soda? No glasses?

Arrived at KATZ'S Deli around 3:00pm. There was a line outside the door and security was only allowing Waiter service patrons in first. Waited about 20 minutes then I was allowed in. (Anyone will tell you that it's a small price to pay for the experience). Got in line, waited about 25 minutes to place my order. While in line I had a conversation with a man who was explaining to his family the history of KATZ, and why it is so Famous. We traded childhood memories until their food arrived. The kids wasted no time eating their club sandwichs, and when they finished, they looked at their parents, as to say, "Are you gonna finish that?". I had a Great Time, as always, and left KATZ Satisfied as always.

I had the pastrami sandwich and the meat just melts in your mouth but I had to pull out of my mouth two strands of long hair that wasn't mine!!! I was sick to my stomach after that and I paid all most $24 for the sandwich. I grew up on katz pastrami sandwiches I am 42 yrs old I am so disappointed!!!!

Extremely overrated place with bad service, food portions are getting less every time. They treat customers like thieves. Not clean at all. I'd rather eat at McDonald's. Don't humiliate yourself by going there.

One sandwich is too large for anyone who ever voluntarily consumed avocado - split it with someone or get the half sandwich + whatever option. Understand the menu options well before you approach the counter because it's unfair to expect an assembly line to have a long chat with you.

Must visit if you're a tourist in NYC. Not if you're vegatarian though.

Made the trek to visit this iconic deli and was not disappointed. Ordered the famous pastrami sandwich and the freshly cut meat was so soft and juicy. Prices were a bit high but that's to be expected due to its popularity.

The place is legendary. The food still solid, obviously you'll run into a lot of people - a lot of tourists. But the quality is still great, so it's fine. Only the prices seem to go up every time I visit :(

Very infrequently do you come across a restaurant where price almost doesn't matter. Katz's quality and consistency earn it a coveted 5 stars on CM"s List of Places to Visit as Many Times as Possible Before I Die. Their pastrami at $22.45 is a bargain since I would pay $50.00 for that sandwich.

This place epitomizes "New York establishment." The ticket system is pretty funky your first time, but it's not too hard to figure out. Just don't lose it. Definitely get the pastrami and enjoy the way that delicious meat seemingly melts in your mouth.

This was my first time at Katz Delicatessen, ordered 2 of there well known pastrami sandwiches and they were delicious. They serve you a good portion of pastrami for your sandwich and a good portion of pickles to accompany it. I would highly recommend Katz for a good pastrami sandwich.

Giant sandwhiches at this historic deli. Lines are always long but you can get table service-and you might have to share a table depending on the size of your party. Put waitress was great service was slow. I don't know if it was due to being busy or thats the way it is. You can pay cash or credit seems the cash line can get long. Expensive but worth it.

Amazing pastrami sandwiches, probably the best in the city. Huge portion, however it will run you a cool $15 bucks. Tourist trap on the weekends, so be prepared to wait in a line that can wrap around the block.

Amazing pastrami and corned beef that just melts in your mouth. Some Tips: 1) When you go in you are handed a ticket and told not to lose it. This is your bill. You give the ticket to each person you order something from and they write your new total on the ticket each time. 2) At the end if your paying by credit card you pay at the counter in the back, if cash you pay at the front desk on the way out. 3) Each Cutter station has it's own line so dont think you have to wait at the first one. Push through to less crowded one. 4) Tip your cutters, they tend to appreciate it and take better care of you. 4) Drink station is just past the last cutting stations. Dont ask the cutters for drinks. It's a rookie mistake. 5) Dont lose your ticket.

I don't give out too many 5 star reviews but this definitely earns it. It has a old school charm of old new york. Still using a ticket stub for order and payment. It's a large restaurant and has plenty of self served seating and the far wall waitress/waiter service. The service was great as the cutters at the counter always gives you a sample cut taste of the pastrami, corned beef, or item of choice you are ordering. Always my go to item is the pastrami and tongue sandwich with russian dressing on rye. Perfectly moist and tender pastrami with a great seasoning. The tongue is super tender and flavorful. All matches up well. The corn beef sandwiches are good as well but my choice is always the pastrami. They even ask you if you want a fatty cut or lean. Go for the fatty. You won't regret it. The fries here at the other counter are the way i always envision fries. Steak cut fries. Crispy thick outside with lots of potato inside. Don't forget their counter of hot dogs as well. A great large hot dog which would make a good snack and a flavorful matzo ball soup. Full of flavor and a large matzo ball. Sit back and enjoy your order in some old ny charm. I would visit here anytime.

As a first timer at this deli it was a bit confusing for me. It was crowded and busy and so I requested for a waitress/ter to serve me instead of standing in line and placing my order at the counter. The wait for the server to visit my table was really long. Nevertheless, her service was very good. She was helpful, polite and she knew the menu and their products. The place was clean (except I didn't like all that saw dust on the bathroom floor), my soup and pastrami sandwich was very, very good.

Listen, if you go here for the food and the "old New York" atmosphere, you will enjoy it.
The pastrami is second to none and the characters that work there are one of a kind. Take it all in. It is pricey and a bit of a dive, but it is old New York at its best.

Unbelievable flavor. People had told me it was good, but I always thought there would be a limit to the flavors/appeal of a simple sandwich like pastrami on rye. The pastrami is delicious. Steaming hot, piled high between two sliced of tender rye bread, it's soft (I could barely pick it up it kept wanting to fall apart), salty, sweet from the caramelized fat on the outside (it's got a literal crust), and incredibly moist. With some mustard, and two pickles on the side, I was stuffed. I paid around 30 bucks pre tax for the sandwich and a beer which as a Californian felt like a lot, but it's a NY restaurant, and for the quality it was worth it. If I lived here I would try everything on the menu.

The beef and the turkey sandwich are really good. It's a packed place but it's worth if you have a big sandwich craving ($20 each but you can share because is huge). It's famous for the movie scene "When Harry met Sally".

Went on a Sunday but we were seated right away. Waitress was a young girl who was friendly and very attentive. She recommended the Rueben half pastrami/half corned beef and wow! Best sandwich I ever had and I've been to Schwartz's Deli in Montreal too so that matters when I say that. This is a must for anyone visiting Manhattan. Also a good way to walk off your food is to walk to Chinatown and Little Italy from here.

Don't let the queues scare you, they move fast and there is plenty of space to eat inside. The meats here are undeniably top class and given out in large portions. The pastrami is a must, with amazing flavour and a soft texture. Staff are very friendly, especially considering the amount of people they serve. If you're in the area, and even if you're not, it's well worth a visit.

A must-see place in NYC. It is as crowded as a rush hour subway, but it worth trying. You don t need to wait for a waiter and can get in line for one of their counters. You have to find a table by yourself. Their main specialty is corned beef and they cook it right behind each counter and it is awesome.

Low key good vibe comfortable ambiance statically pleasing. Good fit for various occations. Variety choices of cuisine and drinks. Watermelon soju is better the one in Pocha 32. Must try korean approved Korean food in a prime location in china town. If you go, you will know what I mean.
