I went to Katz's this week with my children. It was the worst experience I've ever had. The food had absolutely NO TASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. To order the food you had to go to at least three different stations. Payment had to be in the back. There was no service. I would NEVER go back or suggest the restaurant to anyone. Why it's in business so long I'll never know. I suggest people come to MONTREAL and taste what real smoked meat is.

A must try despite the line and hectic ordering style inside. You ll be packed like sardines inside while ordering and you ll be lucky to find a table to eat at so get your order to go just in case. Sandwiches are great but maybe a tad overhyped. Don t go with any expectations.

Me and my husband visited NYC and was recommended by a friend to come here. I loved the atmosphere and all the sandwiches looked so amazing, it was hard to choose. Of course everyone knows they are known for their pastrami and corned beef so we got a pastrami sandwich and it was as good as everyone says it is. Super tender and salty meat. I couldn't get enough.

I thought the sandwich was huge, find out it wasn't worth the money effort. More likely it was nonsense not worth buying. They might fool the tourists, not me; keep up with the brand of nonsense.

Katz s is an institution. Katz s is a blast. Even the line up is fun. People chat online. Entering a restaurant that has been around since 1888, it has been popular among locals and tourists alike for its pastrami on rye, which is considered among New York's best. Each week, Katz's serves 15,000 lb (6,800 kg) of pastrami, 8,000 lb (3,600 kg) of corned beef, 2,000 lb (910 kg) of salami and 4,000 hot dogs. If that isn t wild I don t know what is?! Sandwiches are expensive but they are also massive and the meat is rich, juicy and properly fatty. The walls are rammed with photos of every sports, movie, tv and broadway stars. Through all the chaos every one is friendly and efficient. Go on an off time and the lines are easier. Eat everything.

Really generous portions of flavourful meat sliced right in front of you - great - but the untoasted bread easily falls apart thanks to the heat, cheese, sourkraut. The enormous servings are reflected in the price. Not a sandwich for everyday, but definitely worth a try.

You definitely should try it, if your a foodie. It s a NY staple and you definitely pay for the history of the place. My girlfriend had the egg salad sandwich($18.12)and wasn t impressed. I had the Pastrami sandwich and a beer.($34.19) I think that s pretty high priced even with the history, Though the pastrami was good! The service was decent for the amount of people that Were in there and it sucked trying to get a seat. My first and only visit probably.

The Matzo ball soup hit the spot on a chilly day exploring Manhattan. It's a classic deli that has been around for well over a century. You can almost hear Jerry, Elaine and George arguing or see Kramer bursting through the door.

They have a unique (time tested I'm guessing) system of marking your order on a ticket which you pay for on the way out. Next time I'm trying the legendary pastrami.

Don't let others discourage you ! I am a native New Yorker and have been going to Katz since I was 12!! Delicious and large sandwiches definitely get the corned beef! Another reviewer mentioned something about a stolen card. Sounds like a load of crock to get a free meal..

Great place to share a delicious corned beef and pastrami sandwich with spicy mustard and a side of coleslaw and a potato kinish. Yummy yummy. They also have a good selection of drafts. It's pricey yes but you got to splurge every now and then. Why not here?

I only eat halal meat. So when I visit a place where the meat is not halal I order a seafood or a vegetarian dish. I never ever have an issue finding a dish to eat. We came to Kat's because my husband wanted to try their pastrami. We waited in a long line. I saw that the menu had a cheese sandwich but with no other details. I didn't think anything of it and went ahead and order it. Well here comes my sandwich and it is literally a bunch of slices of cheese between two pieces of bread. No condiment or sauce of any kind, no tomatoes, lettuce or any other vegetable. The bread isn't even toasted. The cheese isn't melted. It's really a shame for them to treat their customers this way. We will not be back here.

These guy's are awesome owner is a family friend and when deployed he sent my entire Marine unit food! In return we tooks pics and sent them back to him with the food and our picture has been standing at a booth for a few years now. I always visit when in town!

So I was in New Jersey for a business trip and took a couple of extra days to spend time in New York city, it made sense since it takes around 10 hours to get from my home town to either John F. Kennedy airport, La Guardia airport or any of the airports. So on the second day in New York and since I was nearby I decided to go to try Katz's famous food. There was a long line just to get inside the place, I was discouraged at first and just walked by to get a better look of the place, while walking around I noticed the line would move rather quickly and I was starving so I went back in line, after a couple of minutes I was inside just to keep waiting longer on a complicated order and payment system. With this amount of people craving their food you can expect overrated prices on everything including beverages, the food was not bad but I'm giving it 3 stars cause the whole experience is not worthy, you are in New York and can have way better food and a more enjoyable experience in many other places so if you are in the area with only a couple of days to spend and so many places to try don't waste one of them here.

The amazing Pastrami in this famous restaurant! So, I had a real food experience and just now I can understand what Sally felt during the meal (in "When Harry Met Sally")! Delicious, fantastic! Be patient, queuing up outside the restaurant, It's worth! A bit expensive but the food is so good!

It's gotten a bit pricey and sandwiches arent as big as they used to be. However the quality of food is impeccable and has not changed. Let's not forget this is also a piece of NYC history !

We were naive tourists with no idea of what we were about to experience. Great food, huge portions, don't lose your ticket and it's easiest to check out if you have cash. So glad we made it a must do during our trip.

Go here. Order the Reuben or Pastrami sandwich - or both. Eat and then you can thank me later.

Seriously, this should be on your bucket list. NYC is such a fast moving and crazy busy place to visit, Katz's makes it all worth it. I have driven cross country countless times, just go and eat at Katz's, you will remember it for years to come. There is history here... and great food.

I think this is one of the places that got so popular with no reason. Yes, the sandwiches are enormous but they are over priced and you don't have much choice.
When you enter you feel confused, they give you a ticket saying that you have to bring it back at the end. I still don't know why.
The ordering system is confusing, we asked to the staff but they weren't nice at all.
The air conditioning is too much we were freezing.
It's a very famous place, but it's nothing special overall.

This is a tourist destination.

But good enough for the locals to frequent.

The moist melt-in-your-mouth pastrami, the roasted garlic sweetness in their knoblewurst and their cool refreshing homemade sodas.

A bite of a knoble wurst with a swig of their homemade sweet ice tea is heavenly. Salty and sweet with a crisp exterior, the knoblewurst is one of my favorite items on the menu. Homemade sweet ice tea tastes as if its made from real sweet ice tea.

The reason I am giving only two starts it's only because it's almost impossible to eat here, the service here is extremely terrible also if you want to be seated you can wait for ages before that happens, the place it's too small and have very few seats for the people it gets, the queues are huge and slow and when you finally get your food you will be walking around with the plate in your hands trying to find a seat. In regards to the food it's amazing. If I was rating only the food I would give five stars but since eating here it's a nightmare it's impossible to have a good experience.

I wish I could give less than one star. The rudeness of this place is a disgrace. The cutters do not provide any help and instead scream at people. I highly recommend to avoid this place. It is not what it used to be.

I will never not give this place 5 stars. If you don't live in the NYC area, you need to go. If you're planning to visit Manhattan, it needs to be on your bucket list. Pastrami on rye with some mustard. Chocolate egg cream. These pics are from 1am, and as you can see, it wasn't empty.

Took forever to get the worst corned beef and pastrami fatty sandwiches I ve ever had. Don t know why this place is so popular. Treated me like a criminal when my husband had our tickets leaving and pulled me to the side as if I had comma crime. Will never return.

Pricey, can get busy,
Got the 3 meats plate, the brisket and corned beef were dry and need something to go with, the pastrami was awesome, moist delicious and you can eat it with nothing.
Overall nice place to try, but it's $$$ and probably can find similar places that would cost less and might be equal in quality.

This isn't for people who are not a big fan of meat like me. I went there just for the experience, which I found slightly intimidating.
You do get to try samples of their meats which I found nice.
The regular pastrami is the best - it's huge and no one should finish that in one sitting.

It's seriously all about the pastrami here. Not too fatty, never dry, always amazing, Katz's has the best pastrami in the city, if you ask me. The portions are healthy, the staff is great, and it's a NYC institution. They also have great brisket and the hotdogs are great to grill in the summer. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about this place!

The Restaurant is very popular. We like it like crazy and come back whenever we visit the US. Try the pastrami, it is amazing. Prices are a little higher when you are served at the table, otherwise if you want to save pick to go. Even if there was a long waiting Line, the 20min was a reasonable Time for the foods. 4 Stars from us!

Katz's is an awesome kosher-style delicatessen. I was surprised by how huge the space is. If you've never been, I recommend eating there if the lineup is not too long. I'm giving this place a 4 star because I find that paying $20 for one sandwich (no sides) is a little bit over-exaggerated.

The atmosphere is cool and relaxed. While you eat, you can admire the pictures of the various celebrities that came to the deli all over the wall. Don't lose the ticket that they give you at the entrance, otherwise you're going to pay an extra fee.

This place is great for the atmosphere alone. Then you add in the pastrami factor and woah buddy! Take a ticket, head to a cutter and tell them what you want. They even cut you some slices of pastrami while you wait! It's quite expensive but it's tasty. I did this David's Brisket House in Bed-Stuy was better and cheaper though.
