Pastrami sandwich was amazing. Expect to drop $20+ but it's worth it.
Pastrami was so good. Ordered the beef brisket as well. The brisket was cooked well, however it lacked flavor. It was almost bland, the tableside salt help remedy that. The French fries were awesome and I loved the potato pancakes.
Amazing authentic pastrami sandwiches. Very interesting experience. Overpriced though.
Got matzo ball soup, half a pastrami, and latkes to split between two people. Pastrami was very tender and flavorful. Latkes were good but not astounding, a bit cold. Matzo ball soup was tasty.
Overall very good, but pretty expensive- would probably go elsewhere if I wanted to eat pastrami regularly (but worth going to once)
Almost 20 $ for a simple Pastriami-Sandwich is way too much. For this price I would appreciate a nice "thank you" at the exit instead of rolling with the eyes. However the waitress inside were very nice.
But what can I say - where tourists are things are overpriced
Bizarre restaurant. Interior really needs makeover / redecorating. Nevertheless there is a unique charme to the shop and the staff. Nothing needs to be said about the pastrami sandwich. In New York? Go there!
Quite an experience. If you haven't yet experienced the press if an NYC crowd, try Katz's at lunchtime. Pastrami, egg creams... all the old time favorites!
Katz Deli is one of the iconic places you must visit in New York. Many celebrities have been there and their faces are on the walls. It is very crowed so best to go on off eating times. But, man is it worth it. They specialize in their meats, duh, as it's a deli. Their pastrami was the most tender, succulent and perfect balance of salty that I had ever had. The mustard is pared so great with it and they throw on some onions that taste fresh from the garden. This place is amazing. Go there, you will not be disappointed, I promise.
Overpriced overcrowded and the only sandwich place I've been where a doorman has ushered me in and out?! Don't believe the hype there are plenty of other places that do food just as good and better...
Great. Tasty, tasty pastrami and corned beef (us brits call this salt beef). Tasteless pickles.... Need to have Mrs Elswood. But grest experience. A must.
The food was fine but the place is very overrated. All the sandwiches are overpriced.
Excellent place!!! Very tasty, a lot of food, is very good even when you have to make line. A little expensive
Never had a sandwich so good before Katz's. Beware the dinner rush, but way worth it!
Food was amazing, but don't go in expecting a modern dining experience. Lines were long, service was slow. Highly recommended, just set your expectations properly.
Simply the best. A must visit for New Yorkers and tourists alike. Has stood the test of time and proudly resisted the trends, fads, fetish-ization, and general snobbery of the food scene writ large. You cannot go wrong with most of the menu choices but it is a sin not to eat the pastrami. A word to the wise there is often a wait, it is not cash only, and you must not lose your tickets. Ess gesunt!
Personal opinion: but hands down one of the best delicatessen's in the city! Don't lose your ticket or else you get charged full price.
As delicious as you saw on the food network. You gotta try it! Have patience for the line you might see outside.
The Best The Best OMG wow I ve been going there since 1960
I have been wanting to go to this iconic deli for some time. Showed up at 3:15pm on Saturday only to realize that there is a line waiting outside. The staff is well trained in handling a large customer base and handed me a ticket as soon as I got near the front entrance. Please do not lose this ticket as you will need it for placing your order, cashing out and also on your way out.
The pastrami slives were cut on a slightly thicker side, were pink at the center and tasted great. Matzoball soup was great too. If you are into smaller portion sizes like I am, then I'd strongly recommend a half sandwich and soup combo which will take you back by $22.00 including taxes. Overall, getting your favorite meal at this Deli is an experience by itself and if you like traditonal Jewish cuisine then this is must visit place jn the NYC.
Newcomers listen to me! One Rueben sandwich for two people is more than enough. This sandwich is HUGE and ridiculously delicious. I wish I could experience it again for the first time.
A must-go, they have the best pastrami sandwiches in NY. The matzo ball soup is great too. You can get as a combo half a pastrami sandwich and a matzo soup. The service is quick and good.
If you want table service you have to sit on the tables near the wall, otherwise you will have to get your food yourself.
Long queue but very good. A bit expensive, but this is NY...
First time here visiting from LA. Great pastrami! Fast and courteous staff.
Just Incase you didn t know, you can order from this amazing, historic deli !! I placed an order on line, had the wrong delivery date and placed a second order. I emailed and asked to cancel this first and they took care of it immediately and returned my email. I called in before I checked my email and they told me it had been cancelled!
I was raised in the NE and really expect this level of service but I ve lived in Florida for 33 years where most companies brag that they show up. The bar is set so low! I ve never lost that follow up, do your job and have high expectations in my work within and it is such a pleasure to have dealt with like minded people!!! Tomorrow I will be eating brisket, corned beef and pastrami for KATZ DELI!!! So excited!!
I've been to Katz's now three times in the last 20 years and it is still amazing. I struggle to finish the Reuben and that is saying something!
Great retro fun with fabulous pastrami. A must for any visitor to New York Hand sliced pastrami. Amazing.
Great wee hidden gem! Inside is very old school but food and portion sizes are awesome!
Very well priced for NYC and always busy! We waited around 30 minutes but was well worth it.
What makes this great for me is that you can actually taste all the ingredients in the Reubin - the sauce or sauerkraut or the corned beef don't drown out each other.
They should have stopped at $16.
99 a sandwich. Now is $22.99 . That is way to much . Thank god for the tourists.
Usually a very long line outside. Very touristy.
Pastrami on rye. Generous portion of meat but you are paying $20+ for the sandwich. That being said it's a great atmosphere, kind staff. and delicious food.
Katz's is as good as it gets for NYC Deli fare. It's hard to find a sandwich as good in NYC and impossible to find it anywhere else. We always haunt Katz's on our visits to the city from upstate. When I'm flying home, I always stop by and get food from here to bring to my Mom. RECOMMENDED!
Katz's Delicatessen is the most famous place in New York to get a pastrami sandwich and other similar dishes. Almost always full or nearly full, you may have to wait a bit to get sitted, and the service is not the nicest in the world. But it is worth it. As this is really the best pastrami I ever had, thick and juicy. They also have good corned beef. They serve large portions. They have nice pickles to go with your sandwich.
All staff were friendly and helpful with the procedure of ordering and paying. I'll never forget my pastrami reuben. Not ever. I was a little hesitant, but it was the best 25 dollars I ever spent on JUST a sandwich - and two added on types of pickles.
Best pastrami sandwich ever but still not worth $25 and fighting the crowd unless you're a tourist and just want the experience for your bucket list
Loved the food and NY atmosphere. Must visit if you're in NYC.
Pastrami. Sauerkraut. Spicy Mustard. Thank me later..
Fresh, great selection, a little pricey but well worth it!
The food is delicious! I had the pastrami on rye sandwich which cost $21.75. This place is a tourist trap with good food.
First of all the restaurant is quite an attraction! But you can go inside and have a look without ordering any food.
I ordered the Katz's Pastrami Sandwich which is really, really tasty! However it clocks in at 23$ which is quite overpriced for what you get. The atmosphere is not really relaxed and while you try to enjoy your Pastrami Sandwich you get the feeling that they want you to hurry up!
Also it's not super clean!
Therefore I would recommend just having a look inside and enjoying your lunch somewhere else in the area...
Food 5/5
Atmosphere 2/5
Cleanliness 2/5
The absolute best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. Hands down.
This is one of those places that is nostalgic the minute you walk in the door. The famous, everyday New Yorkers, and people from around the world come here for a nice stack of pastrami on the, pickles, and other delicious treats. The food was definitely worth it, and came quickly based on the fact that every seat in the house was taken.
My only warning is the from has a ticket system, and the ticket must match your receipt on the way out or they try to hold you there. This happened with my family, and they were very aggressive about it even though we had proof with just the receipt.
Be willing to pay more than the average place but it is SO worth it! Unlike any pastrami sandwich you'll have anywhere else. Always packed as it is so popular. Open late which is awesome.
Ir's been a long time but some things never change! Delicious always
Best Pastrami ive ever had. Served with brined pickles * godliness.
Went in at their busiest hour round 3pm and the place was packed which led to an exciting lunch experience.
You can be seated or stand and order your food to go.
Pictures of famous celebrities who've visited Katz line the walls and merch is available. We bought the shirt which shows the scene from the When Harry met Sally on it. Couldn't have produced a better shirt for your customers!
Minus 1 star for over priced sandwiches. The pastrami was $24. That's like twice as expensive as it should be but when demand is high then the price can be pushed into the ionosphere which is what they did here.
Would I recommend this restaurant to a visitor to New York City? Absolutely, 110% Yes. Get in here!
PASTRAMI.
Just order it and savour the flavour.
No more to be said - legendary.
Overpriced for food that s just ok. Nothing special.
Smoked meat was really good. Famous deli for movie buffs. Decor is neat with past famous patrons. However, the price for the food is ridiculous!
Pastrami is SPECTACULAR! Reuben is also very delicious for sure.
Best pastrami of the world is here. Also staff is very friendly..
Fine experience, came on an off hour so lines were short and seating was plentiful. I found the pastrami to be some of the tastiest I've ever tried.
I went there three times and all of times I got the best pastrami sandwich so far. Worth the price! The place is a bit overcrowded and messy but worth to go for the food.
The pastrami is about 100x better than the corned beef. The wait is long, but the experience was legendary and fun. Also the latkes were delicious.
Absolutely the BEST pastrami on the planet. Katz s is a NYC classic. Not much as changed over the years. Don t change a winning formula.
There are no words to describe how good the Pastrami on Rye was.
Juicy, tender, perfect taste...All perfect
Excellent it's still ALWAYS crowded and busy but it's WELL WORTH IT. Food is still GREAT.
Superb! From the sampler piece (that fell apart as i tried to pick it up, to the rest if the sandwich, flavour like no other!
Bread, meat and mustard...simple and delicious. Along with a cold beer it's the perfect lunch.
Fun to go in the morning when almost no one was there, though a bit too early for pastrami. Bagels and hot chocolate were both nice.
Five stars! Was my food the best deli ever? Um, no. It wasn't. But this is Katz's from the 1800s. You go for the experience. I suggest pastrami and corned beef on club. The fries and hot dogs and knoblewurst.
Delicious but overpriced pastrami sandwich, definitely worth trying to say you ve done it. Get the celery soda!
You can't leave this city without visiting this deli... Best pastrami ever!!!
Delicious! The line can be long sometimes, but it is definitely worth it for some great deli food!
Yes this is a famous place. No this is not over rated. The pastrami is just ridiculous. Depending on the time of the day or the actually day, you will have to conquer a hungry crowd, which is a very diverse group of people from tourists, to "in the middle of two bars" drunk friends, to families from the boroughs, to New Jersey couples in town for a date. But once you are in the front of the cutters make sure to ask for the pastrami sandwich on rye with mustard, obviously, and a reuben! Just... Amazing ! It's a classic new York place, with classic new York rules and that serve a classic, yet perfect, new York dish !
Food is good but I don't know if it's $20.00 a sandwich good. Black and White cookie is to die for.
Sandwich was good but the place is mostly for the experience. Over hyped prices
Great food. Unorthodox way of being served, issued tickets and waited to be served but ok experience.
Awesome food! Great service! Always busy but lines move quickly. You must visit when in NYC.
The most tender and delicious reuben I've ever had. No need to dress it up tho. The plain ole pastrami on rie with mustard!
Go to Katz website and watch the video on how to order. They take cash only and be prepared to pay a tidy sum. If you love meat, Katz will not disappoint
Stopped in for dinner. Food was very good and reasonably priced.
This is an awesome place in NYC. They have the best sandwiches I ever had. It s a bit pricey but so worth it.
The sandwiches were huge and overpriced. Why would you need that much meat in a sandwich? I bought a Reuben and the meat had so much fat on it I ended up throwing it away. Very disappointing.
Kat'z Deli Great pastrami great portions go eat for yourself
Corned beef sandwich was good, especially the mustard they have! However, the unnecessary and extremely rude bouncers yes bouncers wrecked our experience. Next time we will take the advice of locals and go to Pastrami Queen. Sorry Katz but your sandwiches don't make up for the horrible customer service you have.
Love this place! everything is delish....it can get really busy! I would recommend their pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup yummy!!
i love bringing my tourist friends here and taking pics under the 'O' sign (when harry met sally) =)
Best Ruben sandwich I've ever had. Well worth the wait.
Delicious and Iconic NYC Stop is a must !
BRISKET, cole slaw, knish .. you name it .. You'll DEFINITELY have what she's having!
AMAZING PASTRAMI! So thick and juicy. They have plenty of other things on the menu like corned beef, soup etc.
Such an authentic feeling restaurant with great history. I guess that's what you get if you've been around since 1888!
They have an entire wall of famous ppl that have visited like bill clinton, mike tyson, Seinfeld etc.
It was pricier than I thought for a sandwich, about $20 from memory, but it was enough for me and my wife.
There's a lot of seating, we went there on a weekday at about 1030am. It was about 25% full but the line was getting busier when we left.
