Definately one of the best sandwiches I ve ever had. The price is high but it s worth it. I recommend the Reuben one.

Jose Tavares is Awesome!!!! If anyone comes to Katz see him!!!
Game over
Rude staff and dirty establishment. It's also a little overpriced. They need to spend money renovating. It's a disgrace. I have never seen a place ruined so low
Great atmosphere. Our uber driver said a good day is about 10 out the door. Luckily we got there at that time(we were about #8 out the door) because 2 min later there were 50 people behind us! And I side the Lin is about 25 min wait. The sandwiches were great and it's an awesome tourist location
Lines can be long and trying to find a place to eat is difficult but it's worth the effort. Sandwiches are big but sharing them makes it the perfect amount
I'm appalled by the disgusting and rude customer service. I have never written a bad review in my life. When I tried to leave, I was yelled at and accused of stealing an orange ticket.I never received the food I ordered and was forced to pay a "half price" $25 dollar fine to leave. Originally, they were trying to change me $50. The system was never explained upon entry... these tickets were shoved at us when we walked in. Will never come back. This place is a zoo and not worth the hype. Save yourself the trip.
Ordering setup is unique but the food is great and you get plenty of it.
food was sub par and just not worth the uncomfortable wait. not worth seeing the harry met sally table. Better choice was to get good kosher deli at lido beach kosher deli to take home and watch When Harry met Sally at home!!!!
Oh, man. Get a pastrami sandwich at this place! The matzoh ball soup was fantastic. Love Katz's, and has the pictures from When Harry Met Sally filmed there.
What can you say other than this is simply the best pastrami sandwich in the world served in one of the quintessential old NYC places. Just go and have a nosh!
Pastrami sandwich, what does that even mean? Coming from Norway it's doesn't mean instant connection. But my God it's fantastic, it's heaven on a plate, the best sandwich I ever had :-) My suggestion is order don't think!
Fun touristy restaurant with crazy portions and yummy food, but efficiency is not their strength (but I guess it's because it's historical)
The best Pastrami you will ever eat. No question. That's why there is a line. Enjoy the experience and every tender morsel of that beautiful Pastrami
That corned beef on rye with mustard on the side. Those pickles and tomatoes are everything!
The best pastrami ever. Yummy matzoh ball soup. And those pickles....
Pastrami was good as advertised. It was moist and flavorful with out being too salty or dry like other pastrami.
The pastrami sandwich had a generous portion of pastrami, and they do sample off the pastrami to taste.
It is a bit expensive for me at $21 for a pastrami sandwich. But doesn't take away it is a good pastrami.
The service was okay, but could have been better for 1st timers.
I was able to avoid the brunch crowd by coming in at breakfast time at 9am and there was barely any people. So it could be a good strategy to do this if you want to give this a try
Old fashion atmoshere, delicious food, high prices!
I've been to this place for years and have noticed the prices go up and the quantity of food you get go down. It gets really crowded with tourists. The best time to go is during the late afternoon, after the lunch rush and before the dinner rush.
The best pastrami sandwich I ever had. Bar none. It's a classic for a reason. Just try it and don't look back.
The service isn't the greatest, the ticket system is extremely outdated, it's pricey as hell, and the venue could be a little cleaner. But Katz still gets 5 stars for that delicious pastrami.
I love it. The brisket and pastrami is world class. Try to hit it at an off hour or you will have to wait in line.
Waited a lifetime to eat here. Service bad, drinks overpriced, pastrami was dry.
A pretty crowded place But they move rapidly, The food there is awesome I strongly recommend this absolutely fantastic diner..
I'll have what she's having - the when Harry met Sally place. Go here with an empty stomach and prepare for it to be filled by a giant sandwich with an abundance of meat. Cafeteria like service where you take a ticket , eat as much as you can , then line up at the door on the way out to pay
Best pastrami ever! Very tender and juicy, done perfectly right.
Simply the best!
My all time favorite is the Pastrami Reuben, but you really can't go wrong here.
Wasn't really for me. Didn't realise it was a tourist trap. Came in for lunch, very confusing queue. Basic service, good food but not out of this world. Very very expensive sandwich. Not bad, just not good enough.
Kate's is a New York City institution!!!
HUGE delicious sandwiches in a very basic cafeteria style restaurant covers with celebrity guests photos. The sandwiches are pricey but worth it (PBWI). What more can I say. Welcome to Katzs means Welcome to the REAL NYC
Iconic Jewish deli, serving breakfast, lunch, and knishes: Bagels, omelets, sandwiches, including classic pastrami corned beef and Rubens.
Unless you're very hungry, plan to share, or take home, a sandwich, or get the half sandwich and soup special.
Both counter and table service available.
Accepts cash and credit cards.
B
It's going down , sandwiches are over priced , compared to the 90s , fairly priced and Bayer quality.
The quintessential NY deli, I'm sure anything you get from here would be amazing but I can only ever bring myself to order the Reuben. The sandwich is huge so one can feed 2 people. They will also ask you if you want to upgrade to pastrami instead of corned beef for a buck, do it. The latkes are also amazing, my wife makes sure to get an order every time, she has proclaimed them the best latkes anywhere.
Really nice place with a lot of charm. We thought it would be unbearably busy and although there were loads of people there, they have lots of tables and the staff are super efficient. The food was also really good and very generous!
Amazing Reuben, great cole slaw. You get a platter of assorted pickles when you order
Be prepared upon entry to either 1) wait for a table with a server or 2) wait in line for a sandwich and then wait for a table.
Either way the food & experience is worth the wait. And if you've never tried an egg cream you owe it to yourself to give one of theirs a try.
Missed their sandwich! Been out of the states for too long. Nothing like coming back to the best sandwich. Pastrami, and a lot of it. Thanks.
This is probably the best pastrami with mustard on rye that you will ever have. The second best you've ever had isnt even half as good. But the owner knows it so get ready to shell out some good money for a single sandwich!
A very old school deli with a great atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the prices, the helpings are humongous.
Get there early cause when they say they close at 11pm they mean it. Got there in the last ten minutes but was worth it. The cornbeef hash on rye was So good I didn't mind eating on they side of the street. The meat was so good it melted to the tip of my tongue.
Oh my god. What a phenomenal place. You don't need me to tell you how great this place is. Make sure you tip the cutters (even if it's $1) as your sandwich will double in size. You gotta have the pastrami sandwich with pickle and sauerkraut with mustard. It's fab. Just go here. You need to go here..... Now. It's great. Mmmmmmmmm
This pastrami sandwich was a belly buster for me @katz deli (sooo good)
This place is all the hype. Delicious meat. Beat the rush on a Friday or Saturday night and you are in for some good people watching. Don't forget to order a Pepsi.
This place is overrated and a tourist trap. Cost of a sandwich is $20 and isn't that big for that price. I was very excited to try this place out but it was a let down. Very crowded and confusing for a first timer here. If the sandwich came with a drink and a small side, it would be ok to try on a slow day and you are very hungry. If you don't frequently come to NYC, I would say try other options.
Food was delicious, as you would expect! Cutter let us taste a few samples, and made us some FAT sandwiches! Expensive, and you will have to wait. But still worth it!!
My personal favorite. My doctors office used to be right across the street and I never cancelled my appointments!!!
The sandwiches here are unreal ! Best Reuben I've ever had... Melt in your mouth
What can I say it s a landmark best pastrami in the city. Always hand cut not Machine cut.
Best pastrami sandwiches in Earth. Love it so much I would go to NY just to eat here.
If you are looking for the most unbelievable pastrami sandwiches, this is the place to go. I'v never tasted anything like it in my life! so super duper good!
Yes it's busy. Yes it's crowded. Yes it's amazing.
Katz's is like the theme park of delis; it's fun to watch the meats coming out and being served.
Pastrami sandwiches were great, not too fatty and not too lean.
I was treated like a Queen, except for a worker picking up dishes constantly telling us to move, no please excuse me. Very rude. Problem solved by my son who works here.
I ate you 8 years ago, you ruined me. Every sandwich I have eaten since has paled in comparison, even the insanely delicious ones.
Disappointing tonight. The corned beef sandwiches were dry and barely warm. The Kasha knish was overheated in the microwave so it got rock hard around the edges. Service was friendly at the counter. Also disappointed they didn't have waiter Service as it was just past 9 when we arrived.
So my father use to bring Katz food home often. Funny how you never forget stuff. He'd leave work NYCTA stop @ Katz. Pastrami, those kosher franks and oh my gosh I LOVED THOSE PICKLES. To me the food was always good. I can't remember the last time I actually ate in there. You know the next time in NYC I'm heading to Manhattan to eat here.
An absolute must visit! Saw this place on Man vs Food, so when we visited New York this one of our bucket list items. I m drooling just thinking about the pastrami sandwich. My husband ordered the corned beef which wasn t as good. Loved the atmosphere, it was packed but we found a table easily. The whole experience is fun and exciting, although I didn t quite understand the ticketing system! So many photos of celebrities on the walls. Will definitely be back one day!
Amazing place with great food. Typically American sandwiches. Be aware of people. Usually it's very busy.
If anyone ever visits me in NYC, I bring them here. Best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. People will say Harry and Ida's is better but don't listen to them.
Ask to try the pastrami, corned beef, and brisket when you get to the cutting board and always get a Cherry Doctor Brown's soda (diet or regular)!
Great experience! I visited katz after a very long and dissapointing night and it flipped it aroud, nothing better than good food... especially at six A.M. Honestly I don't know if its worth the price, but I guess its your call to make.
Girl's 16th birthday trip to New York with my daughter - Katz' s was a must and SO worth it. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing pastrami. Can't come to NY without visiting this place.
The pastrami will melt in your mouth! Get a half size which is more than enough and add a size of matzo ball soup.
Very fun and historic deli. Good food, frenetic, but friendly service. Definitely worth a go.
Long lines but it's worth the wait. Best sandwiches in the world
Entered at very busy hour but the experience was phenomenal. Just know what you want before ordering to impede the flow. Might be a bit pricey but I had to eat the history of this place. 10/10!
Completely overrated place. Their pastrami was not even close to the some I have tryed before. Their price is just ridiculous, 3 meat slices 22$...thanks for nothing
Fun to go there and kno what all the fuss it about, but I'll leave it at one time.
TOOO crowded lunch time. Inside packed. Line of 15 people waiting to get in. Hot dog was ok. Pastrami better
Very confusing to a non local. Lots of meat and was super good. The bread was underwhelming. Thought we d get some marbles rye or something. Too pricey
Must see place, but nothing special, good and fresh hamburger, good pickles, and some salads....
Needs to be renovated and needs to be done general clean up to refresh whole place....
First time here, thanks dee BF,Love the cornbeef sandwhich!
Excellent pastrami and pickles, coleslaw is great too.
The best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. Latkes are great too. A must visit in NYC.
Just delicious! Highly recommend the classic pastrami sandwich. It was our first time, we came around 9 a.m after going to the Brooklyn Bridge for sunrise...and a 1 hour walk. It turned out exactly as we expected. The meat was full of flavor, smoky taste, authentic.
This place is by far the most amusing deli in Manhattan it s got the very best sandwiches that just makes your tastebuds go nuts , I ve been eating here over 15 years I met the owner at a business convention actually a great person , this place is so good there s literally a line out the door every single da at certain times , ever time I dine in I admire all the awesome pictures on the wall of great celebrities athletes singers on and on , I ve ran into several celebrities and movie stars in here and it s just a great atmosphere top to bottom unreal awesome staff all hard working crafty with knife carving up the meets love the great energy at all times of 5be year there s never a dull moment and they deliver which is the best they come right to my office I order on line all the time they are super reliable professional really one of my favorite eats in the city people in there know me it s great to and socialize and just a great place I really highly recommend this place if your in town you will not believe the amount of tourists that are in here all the time check it out and thanks Katz for all the great times in here
We went because of the pastrami hype and When Harry Met Sally but were BLOWN AWAY by the soup. We both got soup + 1/2 sandwich. I got the pastrami sandwich + matzo ball soup. My sister got the beef brisket sandwich + chicken noodle. It was cold and the soup... both of them HUGE bowls of DELICIOUS soup. You get pickles with whatever you order which was cool too. The place was packed, Christian was greeting and directing at the door and was THE nicest gentleman. It IS pricey... but the soup was worth every slurp. And we were FULLLLLLL when we left... with doggie bags. A must!!!!
1st time visit to legendary Katz's, where "Harry Met Sally!" Dining here, you'll be screaming with delight, too. ;) A throwback in time, once you wait in line outside (don't worry, it moves fast!), you're ushered into a cacophony of the most delicious, quintessential Jewish deli sights, sounds & smells. Order your classic hot pastrami sandwich from the "Cutters", and if you want a knish order from counter #1! While you eat, you can stop talking to your party, and fully immerse yourself in the culinary experience and gastronomical delights. Or, join in the buzz and controlled chaos of the busyness and chatter all around you. Peruse pictures of celebrities on the wood paneled walls, which help explain why Katz's has been around 135-YEARS! And, when you're done, you'll be full for 24-hrs!! Guaranteed. (And, it's open 24-hrs on Fri & Sat.)
What can I say about Katz's Deli that hasn't been said before? The food is delish and piled high. You'll pay for it, it's not cheap. But you're paying for the ambiance and the thrill of "having what she's having."
I m 49 years old and have had my share of Jewish deli food. That pastrami sandwich was honestly the best sandwich I ve ever eaten.
We had heard great things about Katz, which is why we wanted to try it on our vacation. We went on a Saturday at lunchtime. After waiting 20 minutes outside in the cold, we got to the door and saw the inside was a madhouse. The greeter told us 30 more minutes wait if we wanted a table with a server, or we could go all the way to the back, seat ourselves, and order at the counter. We took the second option, which was a HUGE mistake. Our party of 8 could not sit together. We were not advised we'd have to wait in several different lines at the counter to get all the items we wanted. Drinks and sides in one line, sandwiches in another, a knish and soup in yet another, bagels somewhere else. We had to take each item through the crowd, back to our table, then go find another line to continue ordering. In the end, after all the waiting, being shoved and bumped by patrons and staff, more than 30 minutes had passed anyway. Our food was cold. For $25, I expected my Reuben sandwich would be amazing, but it was just average. Totally disappointed with Katz. Don't waste your money.
