My son was sent there last night after a severe case of food poisoning. I'm 1700 miles away in New Orleans, and we could not get in touch with his roommate. My husband is a physician, so we understand patient privacy, but my son was disoriented and could not tell him his basic health issues, of which I provided. I asked to speak to him, and Tonni, a nurse, told me he did not want to talk to me. I told her he was probably confused, and please explain it to him, and she said he understood and did not want me to know anything. I said: If he can't tell you his medical history, could not tell you that his medical history is on an app on his phone, could not tell you his roommate, then he's confused. He was just released and he tells me that the nurse did not tell him anything, and he wanted to talk to me but was confused, and they left him in his own mess. The care was terrible and they lied to me and him. They also tried to keep him for other tests, when it was a clear case of his electrolytes being off balanced after severe food poisoning. .
