My adult daughter and I had a FANTASTIC experience at this location! We are already planning to return next year. Yes, there are some chain hotels close to the Ka'anapali with newer amenities but we felt SO at home at the Ka'anapali Bech Hotel that we want to return. We were right on the ocean and close to everything we needed! There was often live music in the lobby and on the grounds. The staff were fantastic and friendly and we closed our stay with a very touching lei ceremony. Don't miss this beautiful experience in Maui!

So far not a great experience... staff was rude and unhelpful. The room looks nothing like the pictures and Tstate has two setting freezing or hot. Not the best hotel for a honeymoon.

Update.. if you can provide me a contact name and number .. I'd be happy to give you more info.

We were very disappointed to see the extensive renovations happening DURING our stay. Their website makes it seem like the renovations are done and they are "ready". Everything about the place was awful, except for the very kind and understanding staff that allowed us to check out early and were empathetic with my complaints. The people are wonderful, but the PLACE is horrible. The beachfront and restaurant are completely closed off with a plywood wall. The pool was open with a great view of more green plywood walls. The restaurant is seriously just an outdoor tent. The noise was relentless, jackhammers, saws, incessant beeping of heavy machinery, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. We did stay in one of the rooms that was finished, which seemed to have been placed in the epicenter of the construction. It was also a nightmare. It has the loudest A/C I have ever heard, like a small jet engine. It was only capable of turning on full blast at about 100 decibels, hitting you with a jet of icy air, then stopping completely, letting the room get muggy, then repeating the cycle. The thermostat is motion activated or something so every time you roll over it turns on a light that is literally bright enough to not need any additional light to walk around - allowing for safe pacing and contemplation of your life decisions at 2 am in the morning because it is IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP. We tried turning the AC off and using the fan....which sounded like it was full of marbles. No better. This is literally false advertising, the worst bait and switch I have ever had pulled on me. What an absolute lack of integrity on the part of the leadership of this company. Do not give them the time of day, ever. There are many wonderful places to stay in this area for a similar price (Hyatt, Marriot), for a little more we had a fantastic stay at the Westin, just two hotels down the boardwalk. They were very helpful and gave us a decent last minute rate and the place was a real world paradise, just stunning. You made it to Maui, don't ruin it by pinching pennies and staying at this trainwreck of a "resort". Usually when I have a bad experience I just let it go and carry on, but I seriously want my money back.

While the hotel itself isnt the most luxurious it knows it and is honest about it. Its charm is in the fact that it embraces and displace Hawaiian culture and history. Staff is curtious and friendly. Located right on the water and cheaper than most of the other choices on kaanapali.

We did not stay at the hotel but did visit the beach associated with it. The beach is rather small but the sand is good quality without rocks or coral pieces and the waves break fairly easily. Boogey boarding was not ideal but smaller kids might have fun. There is a nearby snorkeling area (limited views after storms stir up sediment) and a location popular for cliff jumping. Our only complaint was that the beach was fairly crowded.

Beautiful beach for pretty much everything. Nice surfing, chilling, eats nearby. Water gets steep quick and prepare to fall like a starfish if surfing to avoid getting your foot stuck in the corals.

If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. My husband and I stayed here for the second part of our honeymoon and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff every single one of them were so kind and friendly always willing to tell you anything you may want to know about the Hawaiian culture. We used vallet parking and the vehicle was always ready when we needed it. The vallet was always asking about our plans and remembering where we were going and asking about it when we returned we really felt like they were all like family to us. The front desk help, upon learning it was our honeymoon, instantly offered us a upgrade to a king bed the next day as there were none available that night. The fairwell ceremony was heartwarming and I truly felt the compassion from the workers we weren t just tourists to them we were family. The rooms where clean and comfortable. Can t wait to come back!!!

The grounds are beautiful and offer a peaceful environment to relax in. This property is perfect if you want to step back to a simpler time because it seems to have a 1970's feel. The rooms are clean but could use updating. My bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed sitting on my deck that overlooked the pool. They do not have a hot tub, and the pool is small. The hotel has a great beach. This is the place I'd return on my next visit to Maui because I was able to relax and get away from the crowds.

Enjoyed our stay- family friendly, helpful staff, large hotel, great beach and near plenty of attractions and shopping nearby. There is a small convenient store for essential within walking distance. This is an older established hotel and has moderate accomodations- comfortable and kid friendly.

I have never stayed at a resort before, but this has been a great experience. Good food, great location, close to Lahaina, and amazing views from the guest rooms. The staff have been very friendly and welcoming. I think this place may treat their employees well and the employees treat the guests well as a consequence.

The staff is courteous, helpful and prompt. Everything is well kept, the food options are sufficient too. The hotel is right on the beach and next to a shopping mall. Very popular area. The hotel has a 1950s vintage feel which is nice but, the oldest part of the hotel needs some updates. The bathrooms are incredibly small, cramped and aren't good for 2 people to be comfortable. The power went off for the old part of the hotel twice during their big luau and the "garden" view rooms are more like "busy Public walkway next to giant bushes". For the money, these rooms aren't worth it and we would not stay in this portion of the hotel again. It's hard to be mad in Hawaii so, the location and surroundings make the overall stay a win ... But don't stay in the garden view rooms, you'll regret it.

Love this place....Staff friendly, have never had a problem with cleanliness of rooms or grounds...Like the fact that the pool is situated off the beach walkway unlike other hotels....Well worth the long flight from the UK

This place has an amazing beach view and great food. The breakfast buffet has just about everything you could imagine, from crepes and salmon to miso soup. Everything is clean and the staff are very friendly! I highly recommend!

Best hotel I've ever stayed in. Comfortable beds and rooms. The staff is awesome! In house amenities are great. Great views of the ocean, live music every night. An experience NOT to be missed!

You can criticize a lot: Hawaii is too expensive (yes, it is, but then please do not complain here, if you go there), the rooms of the hotel are getting old, etc. Let's stay with the facts: yes, the hotel is not super-modern, but the rooms are really spacious and everything is there. The whole area is very well maintained. The staff is very nice. Here you can drink fantastic cocktails at comparatively fair prices and who the restaurant (at Hawaiian fair prices) but too expensive is the can also take care of the good snack - until 8:00 pm. No annoying animation; there are some offers (learn ukulele); And there is the best beach on Maui - there is no need for a large pool. And it's not this Sheraton and Westin pabulum next door. It is definitely the Hawaiian hotel in Hawaii. Rejoice and be surprised! Absolutely top for three stars. And a request to the hotel management: leave everything as it is - from time to modernize something and it will always be a great hotel. Mahalo!

My husband and I live upcountry and came to this hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We were given a great room with the best ocean view. Thank you to Jenny at the Front Desk and the manager for the chilled champagne to help us celebrate in style! We will definitely return.

The staff during the week doesn't seem to want to be here. I was really disappointed the first couple of days. The staff Friday to Sunday was much more friendly and welcoming. I also noticed we were the youngest couple here (early 30s) during the week and starting Friday younger couples started to arrive. The Hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL and our room was nice and clean. The food at the hotel restaurant is good but the drinks are paid for separate at the bar with a separate bill and server which was odd. The beach is just a few feet away and has the cleanest sand and water I have ever seen. There are also a lot of restaurants and shops just a short walk away which was really nice. Overall I was really happy to have picked this hotel. I was really hoping to do the luau but its only on Mondays and we'll have left by then.

Aloha Kaanapali beach hotel! We are here again. It's our 5th time here Everything is perfect as usual. We like new menu items in Tiki Grill: Hawayan bowl and Poke bowl and of course we love Tiki Terrace restauraunt: the best value for your money (comparing to others)
Mahalo & see you next time!

We spent a week at the hotel and really like the natural beauty and the proximity to the beach. The property is very green, full of local vegetation, trees, flowers.... In the mornings you can hear the birds chirping, which is very calming and relaxing if you're looking to get away from city life.
Food was ok, we preferred to eat outside. they offer cultural activities which are a good option to explore if you have time.
The only thing I didn't like is that the building is a little old and shows sign of aging. The carpet in our room looked overused....
There was a stale food smell in their Tiki Terrace restaurant where we went for daily breakfast buffet. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay at Ka'anapali.

Needs an update. Can still keep the charm of the older resort but could improve on duvet covers, painting of walls, etc. Stay away from the garden view unless you like looking at a wall of vegetation. I upgraded the suite and love my bed. So comfortable.

Totally overpriced, you pay Hawaii but something like that. Nevertheless, it is very nice here. Anyone who values a well-kept ambience is out of place here. The hotel is very old and in need of an urgent renovation

Bang for the buck, in comparison to other hotels on the island, pretty good! If you want luxury and excellent service, go pay heavily for it. If you want a decent place to stay with good service, for a nearly-affordable price, this is your place.

Best hotel ever. Great location, super friendly staff, clean rooms, great food, drinks, show and the most beautiful beach. What else could you ask for? Would definitely come back and highly recommend.

We didn't like our original room so we spoke with Lisa at the concierge and for $39 more a night we upgraded to room 648. Wow! What a beautiful view of the ocean, black rock and the courtyard at the hotel.... E and I really enjoyed the Lei making class and we may actually do it again! The staff has been great and this hotel has been my favorite. Location is great and the beach is Hot!

Ka'anapali Beach Hotel (KBH) is my favorite hotel ...

Ka'anapali Beach Hotel (KBH) is my favorite hotel in the islands. I travel to Hawaii as many as three times a year (always to Maui) and this is where I stay.

On Ka'anapali Beach, it is the least expensive place to stay. It is an older hotel, but rooms have been consistently upgraded. This hotel has many things that others don't, like classes on Hawaiian culture and plants that are important to ancient Hawaiian culture. The staff is excellent and friendly. The grounds are impeccable. There's a free hula show with live music every night. Often, hotel employees sing or dance at these shows. There are also classes on playing ukulele, lei making, Hawaiian language, native culture and many other things.

What doesn't it have? There's not extraordinary pool. There's not a huge spa. There aren't a multitude of restaurants. Typically, you won't get pampered here. Because of these things, most families with small children stay at the larger hotels.

I love this hotel both for what it has and what it doesn't have. If you want to be pampered, as some of the other reviewers wanted - such as those on their honeymoon, GO ELSEWHERE. If you want extravagant spas and pool complexes, GO ELSEWHERE. But, if you want a "real" hawaiian experience, friendly, knowledgeable employees, a place with a history of working with the island to protect culture and the fragile environment, then stay here. If you want a nice room at a reasonable price, stay here. If you want easy access to the beach and shopping, stay here. If you want beautiful grounds with grass, trees and native plants where you can find a lawn chair to relax, stay here.

I alway laugh at reviewers that are upset at what they didn't get when staying here or elsewhere in Hawaii. If you want a real Hawaiian experience it takes effort on YOUR part. If you want pampering, stay at a hotel that costs at least $500 per night. Then you'll get pampered (nothing wrong with that if that's your idea of a vacation, but it's not mine). If you're like me and like to explore and see what the islands really are like (not what resorts show you), this is the place to stay. The Concierge Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and will guide you to what you want to see. Even the bar staff can help you.

The General Manager at Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is one of Maui County's Board Members. Malihini and Dale are highlighted in a book about noteworthy locals. Ulu (does chanting at the welcome breakfast) and Micala (Activities Director) are both incredibly knowledgeable of the island. Others on staff have been involved in Island causes for decades. These people are the "real deal" and this is what makes the hotel such a special place.
