Impeccable service and delicious food! Definitely a place to visit again when I'm in Baton Rouge!
Impeccable service and delicious food! Definitely a place to visit again when I'm in Baton Rouge!
I really hate to say it but it's just no longer what it used to be. Food was decent but no longer exceptional. Still very pricey though. We sat in the main dining room for almost 15 minutes before we were brought water or even acknowledged. Many better options for fine dining around Baton Rouge now. Makes me sad because it has been one of my favorites for many years.
Excellent & great value. Casual lunch + reasonable cost.
I love the seafood here. Great taste for the right price.
The Juban's would be touted in several guidebooks and we returned here in May 2019 on our round trip through the southeast. It was very disappointing. The ambience very nice and comfortable, the food unfortunately far below expectations, more appearance than being. The gratin oysters Rockefeller certainly came as a finished product from the freezer and do not deserve the name 'oysters'. The gumbo did not taste too good either, also here one had the impression to eat a ready meal ... Too bad
We weren t able to eat here. We went on valentines and it was very busy but we had reservations. But still would have had to wait an hour before being seated, so what s the point in even having a reservation if you re going to have to still wait that long. Pretty upset with this.
The food was so good we had a waiter his name was David he was awesome, he was awesome every time I go there I asked for him. Nothing like a great restaurant and good service!
I was there for a lunch and learn. There food was fabulous!
My Favorite date night and family Celebration nights
Favorite dish is Hallelujah Crab
It never disappoints
Love the bar small plates too
These are just the right size and served after 4pm...great for a girls night, or when I'm out alone and just want delicious food and relaxing evening.
I went with the bottomless Chandon Rose selection. As many times as I've gone to Juban's, I am still always overwhelmed by their amazing meal options, so this time around, i went with the chef's special - a crabmeat and veggie filled omelette - the fluffiest omelette I have had, well, since my last visit.
Great service with fine dining. Gumbo was excellent.
Love the olive green rooms and warm atmosphere. Sorry fireplace not in use with couches.
let me start by saying I know that today was a busy day with LSU's graduation, that is why we chose there to celebrate. Our 5:30 reservation was made over a month ago and as we walked up we could clearly see that the main dining room was over half empty. Our family of 5 which include all three children all under 18, seated in the bar area where it was so loud you could not hear each other at the table yet this was all they had at the time. Lie! I was asked when I made the reservation if we were celebrating anything and I told them we were celebrating a graduation from LSU. I was assured that my server would be made aware. He was not. Lie! He came to the table asking us if we had anything to celebrate, did not show us a wine list or drink specials, got our water and then did not see him for over 10 minutes. Spoke to a manager and after explaining the situation he said he would do what he can do offered us another table but after the past 15 minutes of being treated poorly she wanted to just leave. She will only graduate that one day and you totally screwed the pooch. Thank you
It was okay. Crab cakes were of great quality premium crab meat. Frog legs were a bit dry and didn't have a great flavor. Gumbo was pretty bland. Had the hallelujah crab for my meal. Crab was good and seasoned well but stuffing was a bit salty and lacked the cajun spices I expected. Overall, it lacked the cajun touch I was expecting.
I hate to rate places on a single visit because anyone can have a bad day/night. But we were a birthday party group of 20, reserved far in advance and our experience was.... Lacking. Service was clunky, we had to ask for the passed apps (they never mentioned them), supposed to have tea, they forgot. 75% of the entrees we're good, 25% were over cooked, dry or cold. We had to open several bottles of wine ordered from the staff (they just put the bottles on the side table and left). It just wasn't smooth, fun and satisfying like you expect from a very nice restaurant on a special occasion.
Service is great, food not so good. The only good item we ate were the sweet potato chips that were complimentary. Appetizers were unoriginal, tasted like cuts of bland deli meat. The bouillabaisse was disgusting, sweet and syrupy with slightly rotten and hardly any seafood. The steak was overcooked, almost no crust, and WAY too much salt. Desserts were defrosted; crepes were still frozen on the inside. Also way overpriced. Will not be returning.
Came here at a friends recommendation for brunch.
Pros: Service was friendly, coffee was good. Homemade biscuits were excellent.
Cons: Entrees were average at best. Beef brisket was dry and unflavorful. The Eggs Louie tasted better, but really this meal for two people was not worth the $75 bill. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things.
There is likely an inexpensive diner in Baton Rouge that tastes a lot better for 1/3 the price.
i work at Jubams and i absolutely love it. ITs a beautiful restaurant. The food i oustamdimg and im proud to serve it
Staff was great, food is great, nice venue. Overall one of the best restaurants for upscale dining in baton rouge. They recently redid their crab cake recipes to include more crab, it is definitely a hearty portion, it's very rich, so eat with care. Crawfish and corn bisque was on point as well
Amazing atmosphere and food. The staff are so polite.
My wife and I recently returned to Louisiana after 27 years and took our youngest son and his wife to Jubans for dinner. We remembered how great it was back in the 1980's...not anymore! The atmosphere was stuffy and we felt like we were in a room full of patrons that didn't want to be there, but they were so old that they couldn't think of any other place to eat in Baton Rouge. The waiters were like robots, the food was average at best, and the menu and wine list were way overpriced. Wake up Jubans and see how the other restaurants in Baton Rouge are hitting the mark. Maybe it's time to call it quits, food for thought, and that is just my opinion .
The staff is very attentive and the food is some of the best in Baton Rouge. On par with any New Orleans restaurant...
Best restaurant experience in the city. The waitress was highly professional yet very personable. She made some nice drink recommendations which we enjoyed. The atmosphere is elegant. The lighting and the ambiance make for a special space. I would recommend the Hallelujah Crab. Best Restaurant in the city.
Hate to say, but the kitchen tonight severely dragged down what could have been a great evening. I understand its Bama weekend, but thats what prep is for. Very disappointed and will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out.
Went for an event. The food was okay. The meeting area was perfect. Lots of smokers outside.
Went to lunch with my office, food was really good quality and the waiter was a character. The only downfall was the time it took for the food to come out. 10 of us total.
Special New Years dinner that included live music. Food quality was superb and service was second to none.
The food was not up to Juban's usual standards today.
The food is good and the atmosphere is not bad. The dining area is very broken up, so anywhere you sit seems fairly private. It isn't the best high end restaurant in baton rouge, but it is probably in the top 5.
The sirloin tip was delicious cooked perfectly. The cheese grits and mashed potatoes very tasty. Enjoyed my dining experience.
Great Atmosphere and very tasteful delicious cocktails and food
Great place. Had reservations for father's day. Prompt seating. Wait staff was awesome. Food was fantastic. Very good meal And experience!
One of the best fine dining places we have experienced in town. The salad is to die for and the drink menu is perfect. Everything was delicious!
Attended a holiday dinner here and the service and food was excellent!
Good atmosphere. Food was good. Service was good. Prices above average.
If I was able to give a minus star that would be too good. This place CANCLED OUR RESERVATIONS for December 23, 206. It was said that they needed confirmation. From Megan. No one contacted my parents. When we arrived our room was given to some other people. I think more effort and better communication is in order...don'tt you???
Will never return here. This event had been planned in advance. Thanks guys.
Probably one of the best meals that I have ever eaten. The service was impeccable. When our waiter got tied up with a large party, another waiter temporarily stepped in to check on us. Great teamwork!!
Great place to eat, celebrate and be with friends. Perfect for a date night or for any occasion. Our go to restaurant for a fine meal. The flowers on the reservation desk are always phenomenal.
Amazing service, superb food. Hallelujah Crab by far best thing iv eaver eaten. Along with the 18oz ribye with creme brulee for dessert, wife had the Redfish and was amazing as well. We will be back. Recommended highly. Loved it.
Awesome place. Great food. Very busy! But we were not in a hurry, we wanted to enjoy the evening, and we did.
I live in Tampa, Fl and i have to say the Salmon was the best I've ever eaten. And the service was awesome! I'm saving this restaurant in my phone to come back when I'm in town.
Servers were polite and food was ok. It was very clean!
Stopped at this restaurant on our road trip and it was a pleasant surprise! Everyone was very professional and the service was excellent. The shopping mall strip that the restaurant is located looks a bit shabby, but the restaurant itself and the ambience is superb with very nice decorations. The food was excellent! The soft shell crab was tasty and the set Thanksgiving portion of the menu was really good. We would come back here again.
One of best in BR. Good and service was excellent!
Fish taste like chicken, cake stale ,was not impressed
For lunch the bartender was our server because they were shorthanded. We were a party of 7. It took over an hour to get our food. We had to ask what was taking so long before they finally gave him some help. He told us it was his first time to be a server. The soups were cold when we got them and had to be sent back. The other food we had was very good. An hour and 45 minutes for lunch is too long.
I have spent many, many afternoons at the Jubans bar - the bartenders are excellent, the drinks are great, and the wine selection is impressive. I love the atmosphere! I met a colleague for lunch recently, and the service was excellent as usual, but the food was lackluster. I had the sensation salad with blackened shrimp and fried oysters - I remembered the salad as being wonderful, but this time the dressing was bland. I even asked for extra dressing, but it was mostly oil. The shrimp were overcooked and a bit too salty. The oysters were great! I will be back, but will order more carefully.
Had the fried softshell crab. It was amazing. Very rich, it was a challenge to eat the whole thing.
Great food but it can be a bit pricey. I lived in BR for 25 years but didn't try Jubabs until a recent trip to visit family. Service was amazing and very old school, waiters had there own cards. A regular we talked with had been going almost once a week for 30+ yeas so they must be doing something right.
Hallelujah crab was so good, I will surly come back again.
Really good food with decent but not oversized portions. Came here with a work party for a three course meal. Salad, shrimp linguini, and bread pudding for dessert. All were good and our server performed ably.
Absolutely spectacular fish and wonderful atmosphere, my waiter Patrick was very soft spoken and professional. The bar tender is a young man going to school for IT made me an OUTSTANDING cocktail. These two men made the experience spectacular
The food was incredible but the service was slow. Hoping that was unusual because I definitely want to go back.
A bit over priced in my opinion. Good food but there are several places in town I could get better food for the same price. I would say it earns all 4 stars because I do enjoy the food.
Good place overall. Good seafood, not as good as Parrain's and Mansour on the Boulevard, the direct competitors, but less noisy than them. Appetizers are too expensive, three oysters 20 dollars...good entrees at a reasonable price. Good bar. Good happy hours. Service is mediocre...young staff moderately motivated. Some improvement during the past seven years. 3 stars.
This place is great! It quiet, clean and you can enjoy in it. I would recommend it to anyone.
Went for Sunday brunch. Slow service and overcooked food. It seemed like everything sat under a heat lamp before coming to the table. Really disappointing.
So embarrassed! My husband and I were so excited to invite 3 other couples to dine with us as we were coming in town for LSU game. Reservations were made 3 weeks in advance (which is a story in itself). We were seated fairly promptly for our 7pm reservation and it unfortunately goes down from there. The wine we selected and started with was very good but was out of stock after the 2nd bottle, we asked for bread but they were out of butter, appetizers came and were tasty but the gap between salad and our dinners was 2 hours. There were no explanations given for food not coming out to us or anyone else in the room not even after speaking with a manager. The ribeye was very tough and inedible and the filet was fair and was served with 2 very thin small pieces of asparagus. Dessert was never offered & ticket was brought with 20% gratuity already added. Very disappointing evening other than the fellowship of our good friends. Next time we will go elsewhere. I hope that Juban s gets it together for future diners. I must add that a simple explanation, an apology, or redeeming yourself with a great dessert would have gone a long way in overcoming kitchen shortcomings.
This is one of my favorite places in town. I should have posted a review before now. Perhaps I was just waiting for one more stellar visit. Excellent service and excellent food! Let me start by saying that David, our waiter, and our bartender, helped make this a memorable lunch. We started with the above cocktail and ordered the Boursin (sp?) cheese and crab soup and a wedge salad, sans bacon. The soup was outstanding and the salad fresh and crisp. The home made blue cheese dressing was spot on. David, our waiter, accommodated my friend's special request for an oyster platter with their great fries, as this was currently not on the menu. Don't you love a waiter who makes recommendations and knows the nuance of when to visit and talk? I ordered the Juban burger with Havarti cheese and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked to medium well and seasoned lightly, it boasted fabulous caramelized onions which were soft and sweet. The bun had a slightly sweet flavor which was the perfect balance. Thank for another wonderful visit. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll save room for dessert as there are several appealing items on that menu! Love the ambiance as well, great for a date night, casual lunch or that special occasion!
Excellent meal. The chicken was tender, salad was delightful, and the dessert was moist and delicious.
I visited as part of a large group for a wedding rehearsal dinner and Juban's was able to handle this situation very well. We never felt either like we were waiting a long time or like we were rushed.
We started with a Sensation Salad, which while not the best I've ever had, was certainly acceptable.
I ordered the ribeye of the two choices offered and it came perfectly medium (as requested), hot, and juicy. It was unfortunately fatty, but I believe that is typical for the cut. The side dishes of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies were seasoned and tender.
The shining star was the creamy cheesecake with berry sauce. Delicately flavored and the perfect texture. It really stood out.
Well when we came in when he was greeted by beautiful lady. I apologize by forgetting her name we was sit at a table only thing that was disturbing was that they sought us in the back by the restroom in the restaurant and the kitchen which didn't mind but it was cool enjoyed it. Patrick was waiter and was amazing he made sure we had everything that we need food came out promptly and it was delicious or give it a 4-star then that to if I was to be honest it would be aware they suck us being that we were African American we wasn't around other you know people that work there you know it was quiet it was you know nice and cozy and I do I would recommend you to go back there I had a good time at the restaurant the Chef and team was over there restaurant Chef that was very good the food was amazing that you're so awesome that made us anything we want it explained everything to us with the menu so overall here's the pictures before that they so JUBAN'S if I pronounce it right I'm guessing I didn't but I will spell it for you did a great job and I would like to go there again. Now it's a very expensive restaurant but if you're if you're taking someone special there that would be a special treat somewhere where we can have a nice party or gathering you know it was off in the duck off you know but it was really nice,,,
Beautiful restaurant with great entrees! We went here for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was decorated nicely with an attractive looking hallway to the main entrance. We sat down at one of the table reserved for us. Throughout our time here, there were no delay on our service and our drink was always refilled. The restaurant served us a sample of the amuse Bouche - it was very tasty. We got the Juban s gumbo and crab cake maque choux. The crab cake was very good but the gumbo was average. We ordered redfish Adrian and beef short ribs as entree and got the sensation salad with pepper jelly vinaigrette with our entree. We love the redfish Adrian over the beef short ribs but the ribs was nice.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our evening at Juban s.
The food was great and so was the atmosphere and service.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, superb staff. Great for work meetings and dates.
Everything about my experience here was amazing. The staff and owner made me feel like family. The food was to die for. Try the steak dinner too, it was delicious. The prices are super affordable and you still receive quality. I implore everyone to come and eat here. Amazing experience, amazing people, amazing food.
Best place, such a sweet staff.. wonderful experiance.. awsome ambiance.. The staff even took trouble to stop by our car when I forgot to take my phone from the table.. It was so nice of him to do that.. very thankful for that help. Thank you..
Great food and service... And our group tried just about everything on the menu.
