Idyllic spot. Could stay all day. Be outside. Ever...
Idyllic spot. Could stay all day. Be outside. Everything is delicious and big enough to share.

Idyllic spot. Could stay all day. Be outside. Everything is delicious and big enough to share.
I am going to be honest the only draw to this place is the pop overs. The food was overpriced for what you were getting. I had the seafood chowder that was all potato and very little seafood. The scallops were teeny tiny for the price. I would say come for the popover but leave before dinner.
Took a while to get seated but understandable given this is the only restaurant inside the park. Amazing views whilst eating if chosing to sit outside. The food was pretty good but very limited vegetarian options hence wouldn't recommend for a vegetarian or vegan meal. My friends did enjoy the seafood they ordered though.
Food over priced and not fresh ...broken tea pots leaking water, cold coffee. Never again.
Very good food. We had salmom with quinoa, broccoli, and creamy sauce. It was delicious.
Visited twice. Had popovers and tea twice lol. No seating outside though Very nice lake loop trail but longer than it looks after a full day of activities.
The Jordan Pond House was a very special place and had the same level of quality and service for many, many years. 5 stars for sure. The popovers were delicious, the waitstaff was top-notch and the view -- spectacular.
Unfortunately the new operators, Ortega Family Enterprises, have changed a number of things and not for the better, hence only 3 stars in 2014.
Not worth the price. Asked for a popover and they didn't give it to us. Lobster was meh. I would recommend outside or bring your own lunch if you're spending a day in Acadia
Acadia national park was great food was good nice scenery great servers.
Pricey and super busy - the lawn out back is a good place to hang out
Left the place after waiting for our order for almost an hour. Chelsea didn't even seem to apologize. Later someone told that the owners of the place have changed which clearly explains they are just into profits and not hospitality.
Food was exceptionally fast and awesome quality - especially for being in the middle of a national park.
Great food to go along with an amazing location. It is very busy so early means less wait.
Great spot for lunch or a snack. Terrific views of the pond and the bubble rock area.
The only reason it is not a perfect 5 is because you are packed in there like sardines especially on the porch where it is impossible to pull your fair out without hitting something
The popovers are indeed tasty and the location and view can't be beat. The lemonade, coffee, and tea were all very good too.
Divine touring it is a pleasure. This is the second time we go. Beautiful place with its history
Had the popovers and a turkey BLT. Service was fast!!! Server was excellent. Just a little busy. Waited about 20 minutes table.
One of the most amazing places I have been to. Definitely worth a visit.
Omg! Yes! Great views, great food! Historic and wonderful must stop! Make your reservation though!
Pop lovers. Absolutely the best place to get them anywhere. They go through thousands a day. Full nenu and unless you are making reservations arrive at 10:30am for a 11am opening daily.
Great place for scenic picnic..although pack your food as the picking aparking spot could take more than 30 minutes
Great views, but no ranger or info station here...the trail maps aren't great.
We went on Tuesday 18 August 2020. Parking was readily available in the lot close to the restaurant. Parking at the restaurant took about 10 minute, super rare event. Normally parking is a crush and long waits are a thing. They are only doing contactless dining. You place your order at the kiosk that used to be where you would get placed in line for meal service. You then go to the reception area of the actual restaurant, wait for your name to be called to pick up your menu items. All of the meal items as well as plates, plastic ware and condiments came in paper bags on a plastic tray. Drinks are served in paper cups. The popovers sadly lost size due to the bag. You can dine in or if weather permits you can dine outside or many were taking away.. The stew is a cup size portion and the salads are small side size. I hope that once covid burns itself out Jordan Pond House will return to better service. If you are looking for better service now, we learned that Asticou Inn is offering afternoon tea featuring popovers.
It's a popular tourist destination so it is frequently packed which doesn't make social distancing easy in COVID times. Popovers are the main attraction here, the rest of the food is mostly pre-packaged stuff. They do sell beer though and the staff is very nice.
Food was good. Service was good. Views were very good. Prices were a little high. But foods in a National Park are always high.
My wife and I were really excited to go by the Jordan Pond House on our honeymoon. Everyone raved about it and a family friend gave us a gift card before we left. We made special plans to go while adventuring in Acadia.
When we arrived, we immediately ran into trouble. It took a good 15-20 minutes to even find a parking spot, and when I finally did assert myself into a spot before anyone else could, it wasn't even at the restaurant. We had to take a trail through the woods. But that's minor, we were there to hike anyway.
Upon arriving at the actual restaurant, we learned that there was an hour wait. I wasn't thrilled about that, but it was our day to eat at Jordan Pond, so we said ok. That said, if you're going to have to wait for an hour at a restaurant, Jordan Pond is a great one to do it at, as there is a FANTASTIC view. The buzzers reach out into the lawn where you can relax and look over the pond, and you can even walk down to the shore while you wait as long as you go back "in range" before your slot comes up. As a photographer, it was great to continue shooting while we waited.
Sadly, yet another problem arose while we were waiting. I couldn't help but notice that a large number of tables seemed to be sitting empty with several waiters just standing around. Why were so many of us standing around waiting when there were empty tables? Obviously I know there can always be extenuating circumstances, but it just seemed odd.
We finally got a seat outside looking over the beautiful pond, and we put in our orders. The waitress was very nice and helpful. She even offered to take our picture with the pond in the background. And then the popovers came. Oh my gosh the popovers. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but if nothing else they're worth the trip. They were absolutely delicious.
Our other food came shortly after which was quite delicious, but I don't know that I would normally pay the price for them without a gift card. $20 for a bowl of soup felt like a lot to me, but maybe I'm cheap.
On the whole, it was a "good" experience, but it just seemed like it could have been so much better, especially given the price.
There was one problem, though. We still had money left on our gift card. So we went back later that week at a slower time for "tea and popovers." This time we elected to sit inside since it was a bit colder outside. If the first experience was just ok, this one was a little frightening. Our table wasn't clean when we got to it, for starters. We had to stand and wait while the manager wiped it down. Then we discovered that our silverware wasn't clean either. Uh oh...
We finally got situated, and of course the popovers were still as delicious as usual, but while eating them we watched several other tables be cleaned. I'm not even sure their methods meet health code... The bus boys sprayed cleaner all over the tables without removing the salt and pepper shakers or any other utensils, so it got all over them. Would you like some table cleaner with your popovers? Needless to say I didn't partake in any salt... The whole process was clumsy and there is no way it was getting everything clean.
In summary, the food here is decent. It's nothing hugely special (it was far from our favorite in Bar Harbor/Acadia), but it's good. But the management and maintenance of the facility is just plain bad. I understand that the restaurant recently came under control of a new company, so I'm sure it used to be much better, but this new management definitely isn't doing Jordan Pond any favors. I hope the Park System will realize this and find better hands to hold this historic eatery.
It's ok. Very overpriced. Food was ok. portions were small. They had a cup of soup that cost $22.00. The popovers are good but not worth the cost. Its very touristy, do not come here if your looking for Maine food. Don't come here if your looking for really anything for your toddler to eat as the kids menu is Lacking.
Our family was VERY disappointed with our lunch at Jordan s pond in Acadia National Park today.
My wife has food allergies. Although they advertise on their menu that they cater to Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, etc... My wife was unable to find a single menu item she could enjoy as is on the menu. The server was absolutely unhelpful. Instead, she ordered a house salad and had to ask for three ingredients to be omitted. She asked if they could add shredded carrots- they did not add them. When the salad arrived, it was a very small portion for an entree size order. It was not very satisfying at all in taste, appearance or value for the price paid.
I ordered the lobster roll. It arrived with crumbled, the appearance of bottom of the bag chips. The lobster roll was not as tasty as expected and the portion was not worth the value paid.
The kids meals we're fine. As one of my children is over the age of 12, she was able to still order from the kids menu as the adult menu did not appeal to her, however, the charge was nearly TWICE the price as the kids meal price and a drink and a pop over was not included. When the plate arrived, it was EXACTLY the same portion as a kids meal. You would expect if you are paying more that you would get more/larger portion- especially since it's for an older child. Nope.
After the separate bills came for our table, it turns out that because we had to wait a very long time for our food to arrive, they had taken the charge for popovers off of two other families bill. We did not order popovers. There was NO charge taken off/no compensation on our check for the wait.
We dined inside which was very noisy and there were people were constantly streaming through the open hallway. The atmosphere was not conducive to relaxation not conversation.
Our server s name was Eris. We dined at approximately 12:45 on Monday, July 8th.
The value of the food was not worth the cost of the meal. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
I had a wonderful lunch and it included their famous popovers. Delicious!
Long line, get there early. Great views and only place in the park with food!
Have visited the Jordon Pond House since I was a child. Always a great experience. Food was great as usual. A few things, way too many flies and it was cold inside the restaurant. On the way out I noticed the entry doors were open. I told the receptionist that she should close the doors and she replied that she couldn't keep them closed. People were not closing them as they left. Device or spring that keep the doors closed should be replaced. Wonder if these flies were in the kitchen as well.
For starters-- the view is beautiful and the patio area adds a quaint touch. We sat down on the grass for tea time a couple weeks ago, and it was lovely. As for the food-- we ordered the popovers, lemonade, and hummus. Sure, it was good and we enjoyed it, but nothing was extraordinary. I had higher expectations but alas, the view and pond itself made up for it. You order from a window and they call your name once it's ready. The seating is first come first serve outside or inside.
Food and service were great. You must try the pop overs. It's an incredible type of muffin served with butter and jam, nothing short of amazing. East inside or out.
Enjoy amazing scenery while you sip lemonade and eat popovers.
Wonderful beauty to est and drink on the lawn. Our waiter Brad could have been a little more personable. Popovers a must do.
Make a reservation!
The views while dining outside are hard to beat. The servers are stretched, and it will be a minute until you see them again. Order what you need when you see them.
The prices may seem slightly steep, but remember you re enjoying good fare while inside a National Park, with a gorgeous vista.
(Pictured: popover and strawberry jam, chicken salad sandwich, blueberry crisp; all were delicious!)
beautiful location. overpriced food. also paid top dollar for very little food. walked in and the girl at the front desk asked if we had a reservation, we said no she said that it would be a 20 minute wait even tho the place was not busy at all. We had the crab and goat cheese dip it was very good except the pita
chips clearly came from the bottom of the bag. My wife is a waitress and she ate her 6 baby sized scallops before the waiter could even return. left there unsatisfied and went somewhere else to actually fill up on food. our server was a nice kid.
A little pricey but the tasty popovers and beautiful view make for a good experience.
The food here is incredibly over priced and disgusting. My cousin got a cup of soup and it was not good and I don't think it was even 8oz. The wait staff are over worked and half of them looked like they were about to fall over from heat exhaustion. The umbrellas kept spinning with the wind and revealing my pasty body to sunlight. We had to stick knives in the table to try to stop it but it didn't really work.
The only reason this has a star at all is because the view is incredible. I felt like vomiting after I left because I was so disgusted with how much I had spent for such a horrible experience, but then I looked at the mountains and felt
But seriously.
Classic Acadia experience. Get a reservation for tea, popovers, and dessert! I have not had a ton of the entrees, but the experience of sitting outside next to the pond while having tea and blueberry crisp cannot be beat! It is very busy, so try to avoid peak times or have a reservation.
We had high hopes for a first class lunch based on the reputation of the Jordan House. We were sadly disappointed. The food was stale and substandard. The legendary popovers are ... just popovers that you might easily make at home. At all costs avoid the lobster stew, unless you would enjoy a bowl of warm milk with a few scrag ends of lobster floating at the bottom.
No trip to Acadia is complete without a stop at Jordan Pond House for popovers. I would also highly recommend the seafood chowder.
Tasty dishes at reasonable price and stunning views.
Food gets a 5. Price gets a 2. I'm rating it with a conflicted 4 because those darn popovers are something to dream about. $4 per popover is insane but we tried them because it's part of the Acadia experience. We wound up ordering a second helping. They're just so good it doesn't make sense. The lobster and crab cakes were some of the best I've had but they're small, costly and none of that fills you up. It's worth getting the popovers to experience it but it's rather expensive to walk away still hungry.
Needing a late lunch for the family before starting a short hike we stopped here. I was told a table would be ready in 20 minutes but was happy to get seated in less than 15. Unfortunately our server didn't appear for 5 more minutes. Our sandwiches we're quite good and reasonably priced given the location. Other food was decent but not great and seemed excessively high. The service was slow and below average. The bathrooms inside the restaurant weren't large enough to keep up with amount of patrons and also in bad shape that day, one of the (only) two stalls was so nasty that it was unusable so a line had formed. With that coupled with the slow service what we hoped would be a 45ish minute lunch turned into almost 2 hours, dramatically shortening our time to get a hike in...overall food acceptable but pricey with poor service...for those looking for a quick bite before hitting the trails I suggest going to the up the stairs to the second level and getting a sandwich from the cooler and a cookie from the snack shop, use the outer bathrooms and be on your way in minutes.
The food is great. You can pick up the Carriage Road trails from here. Also, from June 23rd through Columbus Day the Island Explorer shuttle stops here.
Gorgeous outside seating next to Jordon's Pond.
The food was great.
The service was great, but got a bit spotty at the end.
Popovers are what this place is famous for. Ask for the Blueberry Jam! My husband thought that the popovers tasted like a hollow croissant. I truly enjoyed it.
They do charge around $5 for each popover. So this lunch can be a bit pricey if you are a party of 2 and get 2 popovers each. Is that necessary, to get two? No, but I think one was not enough, considering most of it is 'air.'
I had some grain salad that I really enjoyed and my husband had the BLT.
Yummy, fresh, tricolored potato chips.
Best of all was the view overlooking the pond and the weather was perfect. We went in March.
We followed the meal with a walk around the whole pond. Around 3 miles.
Beautiful day. Wonderful Restaurant experience.
Keep in mind, the wait to be seated can be quite long. Especially if you request to sit outside.
Like the Asticou Inn better. Their poppers are superior and the crowds are not as bad.
Service was slow but the food was really amazing. The view of the mountains and the lake from the place is awesome.
Great poppers and blueberry iced tea in gorgeous outdoor setting. Just watch out for the bees!
Throughly enjoyed their popovers with fresh lemonade. We also had veggie wraps. It was so fresh and juicy.
Popovers, fish chowder, lobster rolls, and iced tea. If you're getting anything else you're doing it wrong.
DELICIOUS! Popovers are a must have, and the views from the lawn are quite beautiful. We LOVE and are grateful that dogs are allowed on the lawn. Get there well before your hunger strikes as the wait is ridiculous and they don't take reservations.
Most delicious food l've had in a while. Their Special spices made everything delicious and unique.
Historic restaurant with stunning views of Jordan Pond and the Bubble mountainss. The popovers and tea, preferably blueberry iced tea, are my favorite, after a nice hike around the grounds surrounding the property. Highly suggest calling ahead and making a reservation.
Promised a waiting time of 10 mins and had to wait 10*10 mins
Our lunch was an absolutely enjoyable dining experience. The food was very good and our server, Mike E, was excellent. The unobstructed view of Jordan Pond was an extra plus. We are looking forward to returning in the future.
I have had popovers here several times. Great views as well.
Worth the extra wait for a table outside. Beautiful location within the park, great service, good food. A meal here and a walk around Jordan's Pond makes for a great afternoon.
Great food and atmosphere. Views are spectacular. Watch out for hornets and FYI no on the rocks drinks at lunch time. Probably a safe choice though.
Over rated. Popovers were over cooked. Good view but expensive and lacking.
Elegant! Wonderful popovers! Amazing views! Tranquil! A must go-to in Acadia.
Does this place live up to its' billing? No! Should you stop here? Probably. We had decided to do the walk around the lake (a definite must if you can) and then stop here for an early dinner. We were told that the wait for a table for two would be 10-15 minutes, but it was closer to 30. The curt hostess was clearly not into her job and less than enthusiastic about being kind to patrons. My wife had the beef stew and I had the Shepherds pie. Both were comparatively small servings (the bowls were about 4 inches wide) but I must say they were filling enough. So, although pricey, they did the job and tasted pretty good. The $4 popovers were disappointing ... mainly because they were overdone (almost burnt). The waitress brought them in a basket without any fanfare and told us each to pick one. None of them looked good, but we made our selections. Would I order their popovers again? Absolutely not. This clearly has become a marketing gimmick that is no longer getting the care and attention it should be. Is the potential there? Yes. Maybe they will improve in the future.
Good food. A little expensive but that's to be expected for it's location. Service was a little slow.
The Lobster stew and popovers are where it is all at! Other dishes were OK, but definitely recommend the stew and popovers. The service staff is helpful and courteous for the most part. Would definitely recommend having a reservation ahead of time and giving yourself lots of time to find parking if it's during the busy season. If you can take the bus, that would likely be best since they are free and run at pretty regular intervals.
This is a great place for a pitstop while you're on the trail. The popovers are good but not quite my thing. The food was delicious though! The views breathtaking. It definitely seems that there can be a long wait so I recommend getting there when they open if you can. My sister and I got a corner table outside and felt like we had the whole view to ourselves. The menu can be pricey but this place has potential to be one of those "remember that little place.." restaurants as it is in my memories.
Went for popovers on a friend's recommendation and they did not fail! A must do
Jordan Pond is a source of drinking water for the town and nestled within beautiful mountains. The water is crystal clear. You are allowed to get into water with your kayaks if you want. The trail around the pond, really a small lake, is about 3.5 miles and takes approximately 2 hours at a slow pace and with some stops. The parking to the pond is extremely hard to find. One of the things to do is to park your car at the Hull s Cove visitor center and take the free Island Express to this place. Jordan Pond House, which is a restaurant, is close to the parking and also has its own parking. The Jordan Pond House restaurant is a nice place to relax after the walk around the pond. You can have popovers, a local bread delicacy, with butter and strawberry jam. Great place to be.
It was a nice lunch. Nothing fabulous. The view of the pond is amazing. We sat at the outside tables with our dogs. There were lots of other dogs there too. I appreciate that they allowed us to bring them, but it did bother me that the wait staff pet many of the dogs... yay for friendly dog-lovers, boo for touching plates and glasses without washing your hands.
Incredible.
My only regret is not eating here everyday!
Best Lamb Shepherd s Pie I've had in years.
The Popovers were a delicious, unique experience.
Their Maine Blueberry Crisp was awesome!
Our waiter was exceedingly professional and we thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor experience - seated at a table on the lawn, overlooking Jordan Pond.
I have returned to this favorite spot in Acadia National Park that we try to visit at least once a year as a native. This time was very different with COVID-19. This very nice restaurant has been forced to change the business as usual that we were accustomed to. There are no longer the army of servers inside the restaurant and out on the lawn. The tables with umbrellas are gone but they do have some reduced amount of tables out on the patio. The seating inside has been reduced. The atmosphere is definitely different during these hard times, however the restaurant is open with a reduced selection of fare. You now go under the roof near the restaurant entrance and get in a line to place your order from the 2 computer displays mounted on the wall near the window. We took our place in the line waiting to place our order. They still have the excellent popovers available for order and some Maine seafood favorites. The line was pretty long outside and down the stairs and out onto the walkway below. The line actually moved fairly quickly and we made it to the order window which was previously where you gave your name and received a pager to wait to enter the restaurant. You place your order and then enter the restaurant and wait in the lobby area until your name is called. We waited maybe 5 minutes and we had a tray with our food and then could go in and choose a table inside or go to the lawn area to sit on the lawn or to tables on the patio. We opted for inside right near the window wall with views of Jordan Pond. I would say the atmosphere was a bit different of how the restaurant usually operates however that s where we are right now and the restaurant is operating actually very quickly to serve your food on a takeout type basis right now. The restaurant will eventually return to business as usual at some point and allow you to dine on tables outside under the umbrellas with beautiful views of the pond below. Don t judge your visit to our state by these difficult operating conditions that are a state mandate and have kept our state very safe for you to visit. We will be back to normal in the future! We really come here for the popovers which they still do on a takeout basis only right now! Do come when we are back to normal here in the state and get the whole atmosphere of the restaurant and lawn dining!
Dinner disaster. We arrived and sat, ordered beverages and received those and ordered dinner that came with salads. 40 minutes later, after trying unsuccessfully to get at least beverage refills somebody brought out complimentary popovers and refills our water.
Then the waitress came out and tried to make some excuse. 25 minutes later our salads/soups still haven t arrived, and teas/sodas STILL haven t been refilled. I gave a look at the jr manger and asked him what s the deal?
All this time I ve noticed a lot of other waiters and waitresses just standing around, the place wasn t that busy.
So about 75 minutes after being seated they soup and salads were at table side just about to be served, but alas, 30 seconds prior my wife had had enough and informed the manger we were leaving. If it had been just me, I would ve left a lot sooner.
We loved the popovers and tea. Great to eat outside on the lawn. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and look for blueberries.
A MUST for anyone visiting the park, or new England in general for that matter.
All the food is anazing but the one menu item to make sure not to miss is the tea and popovers.... not to mention the brilliant views of jordan pond and the bubbles
Make sure you arrive early (if possible) parking fills up QUICK
I definitely don't understand the hype for this place. There's a great view of Jordan Pond, and the bison meatloaf sandwich was good. But there's a huge line, the lobster stew was small with a strange flavor, and the popovers were thoroughly unimpressive. They're basically air-filled, mediocre-tasting croissants. Save some money and use the time you'd spend waiting in line to find another option in Bar Harbor.
Super beautiful place, but always busy. Still, never deters me and my family from poppin' a squat in the lawn to eat lunch.
Food was good. A bit pricey but that's to be expected. A bit chilly inside since they don't have any heat.
Megan seemed mad to have to show people to their table. The wait at the table took awhile, but the food was good. I had shepherds pie, which was great. My grandson had parmesan butter noodles, which he loved. My husband had the BLTT. ( not a typo!) Which he liked also. The only thing really bad is a long wait, and slow service.
The view of Jordan Pond from the outside seating is phenomenal. The food was pretty great too. Don't pass on the pop-overs.
Eat outside if possible. Probably the busiest spot in the park with limited parking. Arrive early in the summer.
Great Place ! Great Location ! But crazy expensive !
