Actually I wouldn't give this 1 star, but I could not write without giving it.

The service from our waitress (African American girl )
Was the most unprofessional ever!
Brought our food to the table Cold.
It took her 4 trips to get pur silverware, on her fourth trip she finally brought my steak knife, by that time my dinner was even colder !!!
Services here Ruined a special evening we were wanting to enjoy our Aniversary at Joe's Crab Shack.
It was recommended to us that it was the best in Galveston.
IT'S NOT THE BEST! Food might be good, but this Waitress needs not to work there, Ruining their reputation.

I would Never recommend this place to anyone !!

Very poor service!!! I won't be going back to that one. Highway 6 Joes gets all my business. They are the best!

Place was empty and not as cool as the rest, order sweet tea got regular and nothing special about the place

The kids play area made the decision to go to Joe s crab shack easy. The half of the food was cold and the other half was really good, but a bit overpriced. No regrets because our kids were happy and we got some decent seafood tonight.

Great food and service, very cozy, relaxed and laid back place, smiley and friendly service.

They advertise $1 oysters but didn't have any for 3 days of our visit disappointed

The crab pot was over cooked the crab meat was dried out...the appetizer was delicious the service was good

You know how you go to that one place and expect a certain type of service same as before? You wait on your waitress and you place your order of a mere 3 items. You hope she'll remember but as she walks away your like yeap she is going to forget something because she didn't write it down. Another long wait, you see this other waiter just knocking out tables helping his guest. I got the slug of the group and the order comes out and what do you know. The pound of shrimp was a no show. I finish most of my meal before she pops her head in to check on us. Manager came by but didn't interact with guest. Most will ask how's you meal and is everything ok? I'm usually a $20 tipper at this this place!! Not bragging but I reward where I see fit I'm on vacation so I spend a little more than usual. Our waitess comes back by after I'm done with my meal and I ask what's this platter of fried food? She calls it by its name, "Well good for her she knows the menu but we didn't order it." "My bad" she says..." Oh that's right you ordered the pound of shrimp...she's a genius. I consumed the order of bacon wrapped shrimp which was really good! The plain shrimp skewers were dry like that sat under a heat lamp a while. My son was like nope so he didn't eat. Did I take photos or complain...I'm on vacation and no need to cause a scene. If you go to Joe's and this white "heavy hitter" comes to wait your table late and your order is messed up, handle it well and order a drink because your in for a long night of excuses and bad service. Enjoyed the outside breeze though...mother nature was nice during our visit. Skipping Joe's our next go around! I got the bad apple this go around.

It was the most awful experience ever!!! Started with tiny mosquitoes and flies outside, food was disgusting, not fresh at all. Not to mention the restroom!!!!! I have a picture of it and don t know how to post it

I worked at Joe's crab shack and the food delicious, the cooks good people, some servers had an attitude. At times ( I've encountered many ) its because of management. A five star because of food and friends I made.

Nice beach front casual dinning good food and if you eat on porch you can share with seagulls

Came over here with my dog after denied service at Brick House Tavern, no hate meant just stating. Only complaint was how long it took a waiter to notice that we hadn t been served. Finally a bust boy notice and got a waitress who came with a bowl of water for my dog. She was very nice and hospital, food was out in a timely manner and extremely great. The Caesar Salad was phenomenal as well as Voodoo Chicken Bites.

Service was great, drinks were strong. The cheeseballs were amazing!

I had coconut shrimp. They were the frozen kind thrown in a deep frier. I was expecting fresh shrimp. Service was real slow. Took 30 minutes to get drinks from bar.

We had a great time! The food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely go again if ever in Galveston again.

Understaffed and the food was very disappointing.. left this resteraunt hungry. Our server Jaymes was very attentive and friendly!

This was the worst service and food some of the food was uncooked and some was over cooked and our waiter was awful and it was to pricey

It was my first time ever going there and the food came quickly, we did have to wait awhile to be seated because it was over packed but it was a great first time I'd definitely go again.

This place has the best seafood in town good appetizers the oysters were great the lobster was excellent too the desserts were great too my waitress was kind too will recommend!

Worst service I've ever had. Waitress didn't know what coleslaw was, got food no drinks no plates or silverwear. Shrimp was overcooked. Brought more worse than the first ones no flavor. Manager was just as bad. No apology. Never again

Love the location, but on Good Friday the staff was clearly overwhelmed. No server for our area. 30 min before we could order, then 40 min to get our food, which was stone cold when it arrived. The manager did step in and reduced our bill.

I understand crab legs are not cheap, but these prices for what you get are not justified.

Yummy crabs! Hate that we had to drive such a long distance because several Joe's around the Houston are have closed, but was well worth the 30 to 40 minute drive!

They take too long to get a Waiter/Waitress to the table

Arrived with 8 persons for a patio 50th. Anniversary Dinner-had to make suggestions to host on how to seat us- otherwise he would have tried to put 8 of us at a 6 person table???
This was a return visit after several months from a previous visit/dinner.
7 of the eight dinners were barely OK quality and temperature wise!! Nothing like previous dinner at this location. Once our food was served - the house flys took over our plates of food before we could drive them away between hand sweeps. Yuk - Yuk....
We will not return to this place to eat again -even at a $200 cost not counting any drinks

Recommend going to another good seafood dinner restaurant in the area.

A bit pricey for what you get. Better places for seafood and crab

The bar blocks what could be a great view. The food and service tends to be hit or miss. I've had some really dodgey crab here and I've had some really great crabs. Joe's "Crab" shack should always have great crab. Don't serve old crab Joe!

We always visit Joe's while at Galveston. Worth the wait during the busy season

This has always been one of mine & my families very fave place to eat!!! Food is AMAZING, prices aren't too high, very friendly staff, & a playground for the kiddos is a big plus!! This will always be somewhere we return again & again.

Potatoes were not done. Crab legs were not fresh. Margarita was way overpriced!

Made a reservation for Mother's Day so no wait and great service even on such a busy day. Everything was great and our server was very attentive.

Ok but not the best food. Not consistent with quality from one visit to the next.

First we were seated from a very unfriendly person who didn't want to be at work and seamed to me bothered that she had to seat us. Then after we were seated it took 10 to 15 mins to get greeted and take our drink orders restaurant empty. Then we finally ordered our food and my whole plate was nasty rice was undercooked, I upgraded to redfish on my Paradise plate and it had absolutely no flavor and was dry and the shimp in my mac and cheese was so over cooked it was like chewing on rubber the waiter brought the manager over who didn't seem like he wanted to be at work either and was more interested in the football game that was on but just keep shaking his head at me and was acting like it was no big deal. I wasn't even sure if he was going to do somethong about it or not because he just walked off then when I went to pay the check he had taken half of my plate off is what it looked like. This was the worst experience I have ever had at Joe's crab shack and I was looking forward to it becauae they closed the one by us. I will never go back to this restaurant becauae how they made me feel. I would fix it soon before this one goes under also Thank you

We are from Seattle we had the seafood sampler you definitely could get better fried fish in Seattle the place had a cool atmosphere and the people were great

Food was good, service was good. We sat outside, there was a DJ entertaining which would have been nice, if we didn't have to look at him and his buddies underwear the whole time we ate. This is a place of business that kids visit. PICK YOUR PANTS UP!!!! We visited Monday 8/1/16

Not what I expected and Bill very high for such low quality food and cold food at it the only reason they got one star is because very friendly staff tipped her 20 for her great smile

After a week in Galveston we were heading back out of town and wanted to eat somewhere off the Seawall, but we had our dog in tow. It was nice to know that JCS was dog friendly. So we chose to eat here. They placed us in the patio area. We asked for water for our dog and they were ready with a water bowl. The outside area was too hot but expected. Wish they had outdoor fans. It's never easy to eat in the heat. Food was great and service was ok. Appears the patio area is shared amongst the staff.

Tasteful food the steak was chewy but it had flavor $$ for two people and we shared a meal the crab was okay.

The food is good.The service is even better and you are going to pay a pretty penny for it!

Long wait for party of 2. Empty tables but we were told not enough wait staff so they will remain empty! Guess they dont need the money! POOR MANAGEMENT!!

I'm not the biggest fan of chain restaurants....the food/atmosphere is usually good but never outstanding. NOT the case last night when my husband and I took our four-year-old to dinner. We recently moved to Galveston from the Mississippi Gulf Coast where the seafood is always plentiful & very rarely disappoints! So, my son has been requesting boiled crabs & crawfish for weeks now so we took him to Joe's last night to get him some crabs at least.... He LOVED it!! And so did we! The food was perfect, and the service was amazing!! We will definitely be returning monthly, if not weekly, while we're living here.

If your on the island go in and say hello to Kerry and his crew. They have a great staff waiting to serve you at by far one of the best locations around.

Good restaurant to taste the crabs. I recommend it.
