Great location...old rooms...overpriced food and drinks

The vibe at the Royal Palm South Beach Miami is chill and relaxing. We would come again. Service is friendly, food is very good, pools are open 24 hours. Ofcourse you swim at your on risk. No life guards.

Customer service was not the best my first night and morning there. As an spg member I was treated like someone that had just come off the street. Room was in front of the elevator and smelled like cigarette smoke. Then was lied to that they were full and did not have any other rooms. Next day the management did upgrade my room to a studio suite and that was nice. But then had another issue with being charged extra on my bill. It took 3 attempts before management got my bill right. My last issue they gave me points I may never use and I felt with all my issues I should had received a refund for at least my resort fees. My stay was not great and I would not stay there again until they get better customer service and renovate all their rooms. It was to many people complaining about room or charges each day I was at the front desk. I hope they get this together because it is a nice hotel and does have potential.

I have stayed here before and had a pleasant experience. This time around I was very disappointed in the service. I booked a deluxe studio with a partial ocean view and received a standard studio with no ocean view. Because I have stayed in a deluxe studio with a partial ocean view I knew what to expect. I received a room facing a noisy lounge with out the view and a mediocre room that I did not book. As soon as I arrived to my room, I went to the front desk to resolve the issue and received very poor service. No attempt to remedy the situation and honestly, I was offended that the front desk receptionist tried to pass off my room for a deluxe studio and didn't address the issue. Very disappointed, I will take my business where it's valued. The hotel is beautiful but when service lacks, there are way too many options in South Beach to settle.

Beautiful, updated Art Deco hotel in the perfect location for visitors to South Beach.

The meeting space was really nice and the staff was friendly/ professional. Also, the food was delightful! My sleeping room was cute.

Beautiful hotel and service with a smile. Pool was not very big, could accommodate at most 50 people but there is beach access. Shops inside but did not visit. The restaurant staff was awesome; they made pancakes possible for a friend who was celebrating her birthday!

The staff is very friendly. One time I had a bad experience with other hotel and the first time ever staying at the palms south beach was the best hotel experience. Them front bar drinks man was hitting!!! . For my birthday they upgraded my suite for free. The location is the best of them all. I really couldn t find another wrong with this place. It s definitely my second home when I m in Miami.

The room seems newly painted but still give me a very old feeling. and the room is so small...not worth it.

Just got to this hotel and is very upset!!! Trying to check in their card reader is not reading my card so they want $300 cash!!! They can't swipe a card...what if you don't have 300 cash!!! So they won't give you your room that you paid for in advance??? That's crazy to me!!! Didn't make any other attempts or suggestions just if you don't have $300 cash for incidentals you can't get your prepaid room...thank God that I have it but what if I didn't or someone else didn't..that's not great customer service!! I hope it gets better so far not good!!

Horrible service, horrible manager. Promised to get a refund that we never had at the end.

One of our friend also got stolen, took them an eternity to do something. Doors didn t lock properly and the safe wasn t working either... seems like every conditions were made so someone could enter the room and steal his money.

Stay away from this hotel, there s tons of other good ones on the beach.

Hotel was ok....when we got to our room we had to get our sheets changed do to hair being on them and there were a few light bulbs out but they did come change them.No microwave in room and fridge is one of those money making fridges.Cant put nothing in it.The water is on the floor after you shower unless you point the shower head to the wall so you gotta put towels on the floor to catch it. Our room always smelled like liquid fire when we came back in.Beds are ok.Seems like it just needs a good cleaning.The pool is nice and I loved the beach access.People are always in the lobby trying to get you to come back....they offered us $66 a night with no blackout dates the last night of our stay....pretty good.Overall our stay was ok and if you just wanna be on the beach with a decent hotel give it a try.

this hotel has no reason to be so expensive. internet was out for almost 24hrs, today this is inexcusable. people being loud and boisterous not only in the lobby but throughout the hotel. parties continued in the rooms making it impossible to rest.
WILL NOT RETURN.

Room was great, facility was clean, staff was great... beach amenities were better than competing hotels...
only complaint was breakfast buffet. .. complete waste of money. Food was cold options were limited.

Nice hotel. Concierge was helpful. Staff throughout the hotel were accommodating. It is close to shopping, the beach and lots of great restaurants. Rooms were clean and smelled amazing. The noise from the renovations was constant while my family was there so I can't give it 5 stars.

Cannot wait to stay here again! The setting, the service, the staff... all exemplary! With so many choices in South Beach- it s nice to know we have a go-to spot! The Royal Palm really lives up to all the wonderful things people say about it! It may sound silly but the cushions on the beach lounge chairs really make a long day at the beach so comfy. Looking forward to a next beach trip with the girls here!!

One of the best hotels in SoBe. Beautiful art deco hotel, renovated lobby and pool and very nice rooms with extremely comfortatable beds. Lots of cool local art and tons of nooks and crannies to hang out inside and outside the hotel. Has the best entrance a hotel which feels nice coming back each night. The staff here are excellent and very friendly/helpful. Very good beach club. The tacos they serve sometimes by the pool are some of the best we have ever had.

Fantastic garden! I need to start with this. We had a 3 nights stay in this hotel. The room was clean and cozy, beautiful location, welcoming staff. The breakfast was delicious. My kids loved the rooftop pool. Overall, we had a great vacation. Hope to come back soon.

Clean, and comfortable. Great location, beach access, 2 pools and close to all the restaurants. Lot parking across the street is cheaper than the valet service offered by the hotel. I recommend making use of that.

By far one of the worst Marriott experiences. Place on the inside is extremely dirty. No one answers the phone. We tried to order room
Service for an hour. We upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite because we thought it would be better but it wasn t. This is definitely not a place to bring your family either a much younger crowd comes here.

This is a stylish hotel in an excellent location. It has access to the beach and just a few blocks from Lincoln road. $30 resort fee is high even considering it includes 2 beach chairs. They come around to give you a "welcome basket" around 11am which includes 2 small bottles of water, 2 green apples and menu of their pool lounge. Beach umbrella is another $19.

The complimentary coffee is Starbucks VIA instant coffee, for a 4 star hotel most includes a single serve machine nowadays. Also the hair blower is like from the 80s and have very little power, takes a long time to dry my short hair which usually only takes a few minutes in a normal hair blower. Also some light switches are not working and the hot / cold water in the shower is mixed up, gave us some confusion the first night.

Awesome hotel great price. Spg members get perks. Location can't beat it. Parking garage across the street, save money by parking there. Park there even if yur not staying at the hotel.

We stayed here in 2013 when it was called "The James Royal Palm" and had a terrific experience. The room wasn't large, but how much time do you spend in your room when you're in South Beach? The only real hotel room drawback is the "falcony" (fake balcony). It could fit 2-3 people, cramped.

The complimentary breakfast was comparable to a motel. However, the amenities were kept clean and staff very friendly!

One of the best hotel I've been in. The service is amazing, they make you feel special. It was great the time my girlfriend and I spent in the hotel.

What !!!! This place is the best experience I've ever had of all my travels and stay in Miami. The rooms are Amazing!! One of my favorite perks has to be the Ctrl Alt Del. pillows. I've stayed at the Loews and the Ritz Carlton, I've stayed at the Fountain Bleu just to be by Liv nightclub, but this place has outdone itself and the renovation from the old St. James is a huge plus. The hospitality is the best. I've stayed and visited this hotel with my friends about 3 times and it's far superior than those hotels. It's worth the price (which is less and more reasonable) and the amenities are far more flexible. I can't wait for the next time I visit. For the negative reviews from some people here...don't listen to them, they are just too broke or too miserable and are not considerate with staff or just people in general. I highly recommend this place. And please, don't just stay for 1 night. :-).

The employees at this location had been extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is under renovation so I did not get chance too experience the hotel with all amenities. I hope during renovation some maintenance issues are addressed. I guess I have too check and see in few months so I could give a better review.

This is our second year at this hotel. The first year was definitely five stars. This year, not so much. The room could use some cleaning. Also, we had several issues throughout our stay and none of them were addressed by the hotel despite numerous requests. The A/C didn't work. The tv placement was terrible. The room was dirty. Also, after our flight was cancelled, we needed to extend our stay and the hotel was going to charge us $500 per night and that was the "best they could do." Instead, we walked next door to Loews and paid less than half of what Royal Palm tried charging. Loews was a lot nicer than Royal Palm with better amenities, a nicer room and friendlier staff.

Love the decor!! Service is excellent! A must stay!

~Great location on the beach - there are lots of stores nearby and it's a step-away from the touristy strip of bars but still lively. Very clean. Great view from the 'partial view rooms' which are same price as regular rooms.
~Heated pool that is a good size (didn't use the 2nd floor pool bc it looked small). Heated pool is essential bc we were at another hotel without heat and didn't want to swim bc too cold. Jacuzzi was a nice bonus.
~Staff was very friendly from doorman to beach attendant. They have poolside and beachside food/drink service - though quite pricey.
~free bikes (after paying resort fee.) No airport shuttle service.
*Very relaxing, would go back again*

Being SPG gold and booking direct should have its benefits, im not sure that this happened in this hotel.

I stayed for a pre-cruise night and i have had more pleasent experiences in other hotels in the area.

Some pros; location, views of ocean front, clean rooms.

Some cons; Gym was unattended with towels left on machines. Despite the resort fee, it covers the beach chairs but there is an extra charge for the umbrella if u need one.

Nice hotel, large sleeping and bathroom, very clean. Will stay there again.

Rooms are not clean, paint is peeling, fire protection is compromised, AC didn't work in the 2 rooms they put us in.
The beach tenant had to work his rear off out here because his tools broke and they haven't replaced them. Literally out of breath for each person he had to sit. I'm not impressed with this hotel or the way they treat their employees. Happy employees translate to happy customers.

Had my things stolen, called 6-7 times to reach manager, was given the run around.
Very unprofessional, very rude security on the phone, guest need to beware. Good luck on getting anything back if you leave anything.

Great hotel, can be busy and noisy at times especially in the evening. On the beach!

Nothing memorable. One good bartender and one good caterer for it business event. Other than that, I wouldn't really recommend. Small rooms, bed was not comfortable and bathroom was old. Overall, just simply unimpressive.

Hip place and comfortable rooms. Lots to do right there and close by.

The hotel is in a good location but the staff members should be better trained. The check-in process is slow and the housekeeping lady opened my door without asking while I was in my underwear.

You might hear noise throughout the night but that's what you get by staying close to the activities.

Check in took forever with some time lost as the estimation on its availability was just wrong. Guessing that this was an unfortunate one timer I in general liked the experience in the Royal Palm very much.

Nice hotel for hotwire prices. Wouldn't pay full price for a room. We arrived at 4:30 and our room was not ready. They did give us a $50 credit towards the restaurant which was nice. Rooms were nice but not amazing. It was also very loud and when we were texted to give a review of the hotel by one of the staff and we mentioned how loud it was and asked to have another room, we received no responce.

Got this hotel for lil cheaper price through Priceline express deal.one king bed room with partial ocean room so near to south beach ! . What else to ask for ! It was perfect vacation with good drinks in bar and pool. Definitely come again place

This is a good hotel with a nice pool and beach front that will not let you down. The rooms are a bit small if you have four to a room. For the price, the bar drinks are terrible. I would not recommend any of them. The beach front is great and the resort fee covers two chairs but you ll need to pay $22 for a beach umbrella. The hotel is walking distance from everything you could ever want.

Nice hotel and reasonably priced. Rooms are nice and the beds are comfy. Views are great from the higher rooms. Friendly relaxed place.

Location is nice, rooms was clean view was amazing!! Unfortunately did not know they was doing renovation til we got there the took off some fees.

I just wanted to thank everyone at this hotel they did a spectacular job. Everyone was so friendly and helpful this the best hotel in Miami. They give you free little bottles of water one to stay there, It's so fun when they do the zoomba in the pool for an hour to get some great exercise. The breakfast buffet is perfect is just a nice perfect place to stay in the heart of Miami you don't need anything else... This is where me and my girlfriend will be staying every Time where in South Beach....

I just got in the hotel and I already don't want to be here, I stayed at so many hotel and I always got early check-ins, I gave them a call twice to give me a early check and they said ok and when I get here there making me wait and can't forget about the 42 dollars for the valet parking....

Nice looking place but I wouldn't call it a resort. They have a $30 resort fee at check out for using the gym,pool etc. Even when you don't use them.check out the hotel next door they have more going on

Close to the action, great beach access. Our room had all tile flooring which we found to be a bit odd but was comfortable enough. Huge bathroom with glass shower doors. We highly enjoyed the pool area as well. Really convenient to Lincoln Rd (tons of shops and restaurants).

This hotel is a little dated and can use some updates. Great location on South Beach, but the beach wasn't as nice as I expected.

Horrific house keeping. I spent one of my precious days on vacation chasing down towels and toilet paper that house keeping decided to remove from my room. The food is mediocre, along with the drinks. You have to pay extra for an umbrella on the beach. Unless you can get a really good deal on the nightly rate, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Here for a bachlorette weekend and the service is great. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The service by the pool and beach are great! Can't get any better, wish we were here longer!

The service is very poor . We didnt obtain the robes and the towels until I went down to the grand floor and started request . Before this we called a few times, but our request was ignored.I think in the hotel of such high level the rooms supposed to be prepared before guest will enter in.
This was only one disadvantage , other things like a breakfast , outside pool, bar and restaurants and location of the hotel were fine.

This review is strictly for changes to the reservation...we haven't even gone to the hotel yet but a friend told me they give 20% off for florida residents. I called today, 55 hours before checkin. They said they would not honor this because it's less than 72 hours before checkin. Not a good first impression at all...and I did call in advance to boot. The reservationists told me next time I book there it will work. But there won't be a next time based on customer service.

It's a little loud sometimes and hard to sleep there because sound travelling through. It's refreshingly cold inside and has beautiful pool area and chairs to use out on the beach. Also, it's location is prime. Right on the beach and by Lincoln Road Mall. There are also a couple bars nearby too.
