Completely run-down hotel filled with ghetto guests walking through the lobby FaceTiming with their speaker on and playing music. The front desk staff is not helpful at all and even though I m a lifetime highest level Marriott Bonvoy member they treated me like dirt and acted as if I was trying to pull one over on them when I showed the rate I booked which was to come with $20 parking instead of $45. They wouldn t honor it and even after I spoke with a manager they denied it. So instead of staying there I said cancel my reservation and I went elsewhere down the road. The hotel also looked very dated and the photos online are not accurate at all. I would NOT recommend staying here.
Great location right on the beach and walking distance to Ocean drive. Awesome staff. Will make this our go to hotel when coming back to Miami Beach
This is a very nice upscale motel/hotel on the beach in Miami's South Beach Area with restaurants and stores within walking distance
Went in the dead of summer during one of the hottest weeks of the year. Every other hotel on the strip was dead but the Royal Palm was absolutely rocking the whole week. It's like they were the only ones who knew how to party.
We didn't, though. We were in bed watching Food Network every night by 9 during our trip. Wouldn't have it any other way!
The hotel was beautiful. I went for a conference and my employer was paying for it. For some reason they messed up my reservation and had me for one night when it should have been two nights. So they fixed it, but then they charged my card for an additional night by mistake and until this day I have not gotten my refund... I called them them but I still don t see my money refunded to me since September. It is very frustrating...
I went to the Royal Palm to get a massage at their spa and have dinner at there in house Mediterranean restaurant, Byblos. The massage was excellent and the meal was one of the best Mediterranean Cuisine experiences I've ever had.
Absolutely Amazing! Beautiful, clean, Great breakfast. And the staff couldn't be better!!!
From the opening of the car door, in front, to the servers at the ocean, and EVERYONE, and I
mean, EVERYONE in between!! So genuine! Just cant fake, this kind of treatment!
We got engaged, at this Hotel, and couldn't have picked a better place to do so.
We were treated like royalty, before, during, and after.
Would definitely recommend this Hotel, to anyone! and everyone!
The place had an ongoing renovations that we weren't informed about when booking, so tge rooms were not as comfy as promised. AC was not working properly and the room service were lousy. We were promised to change the room to get a better working AC but the next day nothing happened. The only good thing was the location as it was steps away from the ocean
My wife and I stayed at the Royal Palm South Beach on a trip for our anniversary this year. The location was exquisite - right on the beach - and close to delicious sushi at Moshi Moshi (a wonderful recommendation from the concierge - see my other review for that!). Go into it expecting to be charged extra for the "resort fee," parking, and pretty much everything else.
Also, the room - while generously sized - had a disappointing lack of view for a beach hotel.
We would stay here again, but would also consider other options based on cost. I love that I get Starwood points for the stay too!
Definitely a fan of this hotel! Service was excellent. There is a hip mid-century vibe going on, and rooms are beautiful and clean. I would give it 5 stars but it was totally lame that they charged for the umbrellas on the beach, when we were already paying a resort fee each night. Breakfast was also only available through a buffet option or ordering room service. It would have been nice to have the option of going down to the cookery in the am to grab a single meal and eat out in the sun. We opted for the breakfast next door at Lowe's instead and it was fantastic. Other than that, my partner and I had a blast.
They charge you every penny for the mini bar. Literally brutal the fact that you can t use a mini fridge for your own personal use. This hotel nickel and dimes you for every last penny. You move a KitKat bar 1 centimeter and you get charged $5. Absolute SCUM move. Completely unacceptable. Pools are overcrowded, like a 5th grade recess; as is the beach area. Just get herded like cattle. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Spend the extra dough and go to a better hotel. Only positive about this place is the location.
For the reasonable price, it's a good place to stay. Service is an A+, especially Ingrid at the front desk & Pedro in the restaurant. Rooms are fine. Pool area is excellent.Good vibe to the place. Would stay here again.
We just spent a few days here and have to say it was a great experience. Staff is extremely courteous and friendly. Food and drinks at the pool was great! They are a little slow but it was good. Highly recommend the Aqua Zumba class. It was so much fun and Pamela from #Aquachicas is AMAZING! She s the best!! We d definitely recommend it and we hope to go back soon!
Never stay at this hotel. We tried cancelling our hotel for this weekend because of the tropical storm hitting florida and the manager does not care for anything i had to say. I asked if we can change the date and they said nope straight up theres no refunds and theres nothing they can do. So they basically just took my 600 dollars and did not even try to work with me or ask if i wanted to book a different night. Such a poor customer service. I'll be sure to let all my friends and family know never to stay at this hotel.
This has been the worse hotel I have ever stayed. The rooms are terrible. There s no fridge and the WiFi is not free there s no parking even if you pay for parking and the plumbing is awful. All you hear is noise and management doesn t do anything about it. So my vacation was completely ruined. Worse ever experience and I pay some pretty good money and got no services.
Very good hotel and attention. On weekends many people go.
Smallish rooms but everything else makes up for it. Nice pool. Not really a family friendly type hotel but the staff has been great with accommodating us. Right in the center of the action.
Our stay was great was greeted at entry, the attendant was awesome and gave great customer service and advice. Room was amazing and comfortable. Showerhead as confusing to turn on at first but it was great. Pool was nice a chill in the morning hot tub met a couple good ppl. And lastly the bar the drinks had the correct flow and taste would come back again.
Service: Excellent, very friendly and accommodating. We had some problems with our check in but the manager took care of it. In addition, everyone from the waitstaff at Florida Cookery, to those working at the beach, doormen, etc. were very friendly.
Beach/Pool: The beach area is very nice. However, the pool was a bit disappointing since its small and most of it is shady. If you wanted one of the 10 seats in the sun by the pool, you have to get their early. Skip the pool and hang out on the beach.
Location: Perfect, walking distance to everything.
Room: We had an ocean view room which was nice. A little on the small side but par for south beach.
Overall: We stayed for 5 nights/6 days and enjoyed our stay. It met my expectations having stayed at their Chicago location. But nothing really wowed me.
The Royal Palm seems to be separated into 2 wings one is the older 3 level wing while the other is the multi story tower. I stayed on floor 2 of the older 3-wing building. Unfortunately in this section you do not have a view of anything and the noise from the pool is quite loud, even inside the room with the door closed. Otherwise the room was decorated in a modern. Fashion and was generally comfortable. On the positive side, the rates were decent, the pool was nice, and the beach had free use of chairs and towels (umbrellas cost about 20 dollars to rent...and you will need one). There is beach drink and food service which is relatively expensive, but there is a liquor store close by if you want to just bring your own. All around the Royal Palm was a cost effective means to stay on the beach and get some sun.
great location... however like alike many venues in South Beach there is something amiss
Shocked to hear hotel running a conference that glorifies violence against women and girls. Yuck!
I thought Marriot owned hotels were doing the right thing by women by removing porn access from their hotels?!
Rooms were a bit dated but the pool and beach amenities were nice! Average cost of a cocktail is 15 to 25 bucks. Def take advantage of the beach area and hot tub!
Been here since 10am. Called in a head of time, was told room will be available. It's 3 pm still waiting.
Main pool area is closedan for renovation. Very old and outdated. Not clean as Royal should be. Never again.....
A very nice hotel when it was but The James hotel collection.
The service is really good here. Everyone is so very nice. The hotel is gorgeous and well organized as well! The only issue is that there isn't a fridge that can be used for personal use in our room.
Hotel ideally located, the beach area of the hotel is ideal with umbrella and sunbed. The dream ... very nice room with sea view. We have to love this hotel no wrong note. Bars and restaurants 5min walk.
STAY AWAY!!!!! I do plenty of traveling business and personal this one was person. I'll start by saying im not one to complain and write a bad review this is my first one. These guys have done me so wrong it makes me straight up sad. After the stay they charged me about $1300+ total. (besides the $1200 for the room initially) Week after week another transaction pops up first it was $495 ... Yes we took a few snacks and maybe one drink from the fridge. Ok so charge me an insane fee of $495 but then the charges kept coming.. Another $20 charge... Another $60 charge... And to top it all off they charged me $900!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was NO damage to the room!!!!!!!!!!!! This was months after the stay!!! This is a nightmare that I just can't seem to escape from.
Got a decent last minute deal with hotel tonight app. As good as any other hotel on the beach.
Great hotel and staff! Would recommend staying again to anyone!!!!
Great hotel. In the center of everything. Nice beach and pool!
Stayed in the deluxe king oceanfront room and was not at all disappointed. The view was amazing. The room was clean and up to date. I would give a 5 star but they did have some rooms on another part of the hotel that definitely needs upgrading.
Used to love this place but they don't value repeat customers or really embrace the spirit of the SPG program. Only reason they are involved with Starwood/Marriott is for access to reservations system. Does not live up to expectations of a property in this class range of hotels.
The Royal Palm South Beach Miami provided outstanding accommodations. Location was great! The art deco and the ambiance was fabulous. Excellent staff!
Nice hotel and staff attentive. Hotel charge $5.00 per package received. Regardless it would be a place I would certainly return.
Best prices and availability, attention to guest is excelent
We recently stayed in the hotel for an average of $400/night for 4 nights. This is one of the most expensive hotel rates I have ever paid, and I would have thought for that price a top notch experience, unfortunately that was not the case.
Although the hotel was beautiful, very friendly staff, beach and location fantastic, there were many little issues that just kept adding up for the price.
From the moment we got into the hotel suite, we discovered our balcony door was broken, and we had to complain 3 times to eventually get someone up to fix it.
Housekeeping was a daily struggle, for all three days in a row, we had to call down afterwards to receive the basic essentials, (coffee, lotions, changing dirty cups!) I would have thought after day 1 that this would have been solved, but everyday nothing was stocked!
Last but not least, the pool area in the evening was not a clean atmosphere, definitely took away from the vibe, we went down at about 8:30pm to find approximately 30 plastic cups all around the side of the pool and tables, and about 30 towels on the chairs and ground. (We also asked for it to be tidied up, which again the next night we found it cluttered again with cups and towels.)
I would overall rate the hotel a 6/10, at $400/night I expected far better service.
What a great hotel! I love that it's not on ocean drive. But it's close enough that you can experience the crazy nightlife of Miami. The staff Is excellent. The appmophereis unique and their access to the beach is amazing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Arrived on Monday. Woke up Tuesday to find they're under construction until September! It's awful. Everything's closed. Expedia have been great, they're miving us to another hotel.
actually they have nothing to say they are doing good!! Be careful your mini bar in room is not inculed :) no cleaning room also!
Stay was great except for the end when they tried to charge my card for a hotel fee I already paid for and for a Red Bull I did not drink. I do not like Red Bull at all. They didn t release my $250 deposit. I have left multiple voicemails days in a row. No one is calling me back. This is completely ridiculous I wanted to give this hotel a good rating because people were great when we were there but when we left all these charges are crazy. I am completely dissatisfied with the accounting section of this hotel.
Hotel dilapidated and noisy but close to the city center and the beach. The service is not really up to the job but the price is still affordable.
I have stayed here on more than one occasion. The staff give excellent service, the pool is nice, the bartender (from Brazil) is great, the rooms are immaculate, and the beach is a step away.
Good price for November visit, situated right in a prime location for all the good areas of South Beach. It has it s only access to the beach with is awesome. Nice rooms and the pool area is good. Would go back again.
Great place good service good rooms right on the beach
Great location, closest you can be, without staying in the crowded Ocean Drive.
Nice outside bar, closed too early for miami beach. Not their problem, but mosquito's were pretty fierce on pool patio.
Nice clean rooms and good views.
There is a queue, read waiting time and slow hostesses for breakfast buffet.
There is a disco by the pool so paying guests at the hotel are asked to leave one pool. and the pool you can be at there is so huge noise due to dj. We can not be there quite simply, we have to go to the beach that Is
big waves so the kids can not be there. It can be seen that outsiders can enter the hotel area without any problems from the beach entrance.
Amazing place to visit and spend time when you visit South Beach
Beautiful place with a private beach. Kind of pricey but you'll definitely have a great time
Only thing is they take all dayto clean room
Also the security needs to step up .someone came in and snatch my bag while i was in pool not good
Great hotel. In the heart of Miami! The hotel is always full, making it hard to extend your stay but the staff are nice and try there best.
Nice location and pretty decent rooms. Heard a lot of people complaining about their rooms while checking in. Didn t have any problems personally.
My biggest issue with this hotel was their lack of efforts to make us feel safe during covid. Staff were not properly wearing masks, and there were very little sanitation efforts on high-touch areas.i did not see an elevator button or door handle sanitized once. No one wore gloves. And a dirty linen cart was left outside our room on the 5th floor for an entire dau,
Nice hotel. Great staff. Good location on the beach.
Horrible security system... staff incredibly rude.... and also get prepared to get your stuff stolen...
The hotel in itself isn't bad, the reason I deducted a star is because of the service so read on, this will be a detailed review.
First things first - this is right on a busy location on Miami South Beach so forget free parking. They will highly recommend valet parking for $43 a night but I actually found that you can use another parking facility right next to this place and it was advertised for a much cheaper price so check it out before taking the valet option. I personally won't opt for the valet because you have to ask them each time to get your car, you have to wait and not every valet is cheerful and courteous, take it with a grain of salt.
Also, because of the prime location and many events that goes on here, the lobby area is super crowded and usually it is impossible to check in before the check-in time that is 4pm. They will try to get your room ready but it is highly unlikely. They will most probably ask you to store your luggage with them and go explore the pool or the beach with their temporary access card. That takes me next to the pool facility which is decent. There are two bars - one near the reception and another by the pool. Decent drinks and service but you have so many options around south beach within walkable distance, I would suggest you to explore that instead because I'm guessing that's why you are in Miami. The resort fee that is charged extra usually $33 includes 2 towels at the pool or the beach (there is a shack with a beach manager), 2 bottles of water and 2 beach chairs per day from 8am to 6pm. A beach umbrella would cost you an extra $9 and obviously the drinks you order at the beach are extra as well. They will be charged to your room. There an expensive version of the covered seating as well. Most people skip on the umbrella because you are on the beach to get a tan anyways.
There is a spa located on the ground floor with prices of around $60 per hour or so, don't remember the exact price. There is a decent restaurant on the first floor called the Florida Eatery, that was good but a little over priced. There is another smaller roof swimming pool here.
The rooms in itself are really good and well maintained with timely room cleaning. The beach view from the 5th floor was amazing but the balcony door was super tricky and heavy to open. I had to call the maintenance people to open it for me. The bathroom sink dripped water that no one fixed. Also, be warned, do not touch the snacks unless you want to pay for them. The tray has sensors built in, you move them you will be charged. So always check your final invoice for error charges from the mini bar that you never consumed. The coffee in the room is only free, everything else along with the water bottle will be charged to the room if consumed.
Never order food to your room from their 24x7 kitchen. The food is awful and way too pricy. Like imagine a tiny Cesar salad without chicken will easily reach $20 with taxes etc. You won't like it unless you love paying for overpriced salads. I left the utensils outside the room and it was picked up by someone after 2 days - weird. Another instance - I called up "1" and asked for some silverware so that I can enjoy my key lime pie that I had brought from a bakery outside. I was asked if I want a plastic one or silverware. I said silverware and waited for 2hrs until I used my bare hands to eat it because those silverware never made it to my room. That's what I was talking about. The receptionists were nice though and gave us small water bottles whenever we walked by their desk. The bellboys were nice enough to hold the door open each time we walked by.
The decor is what I liked the most and it has super easy access to the because from behind the pool any time of the day or evening. They have a decent gym as well. There is free WiFi in the hotel. I wish I had Chromecast or something else other than cable TV, it's 2018 and I have seen a lot of hotels use Chromecast now which the Royal Palm doesn't. I heard they have some first come first serve bikes available which we never tried.
Location is amazing for pleasure. Beach service is great. Main pool is under renovation now.
Spacious room with a wonderful view. Loved my experience here.
Nice facility and good location but partly rip off by expensive parking and resort fee.
The hotel is not recommended for families. It is more for people in a couple, younger.
The rooms are small and the cleanliness is very lazy. They don't let you use the refrigerator, you can't store water or anything, you have to pay to use one. You have to be careful not to touch the chocolates or snacks that have a sensor or they can carry it to your room even if you have not consumed it, just because the sensor detected the absence of their product for a while.
They charge you for the products you receive at the hotel. They charged me $ 5 for a gel.
I wanted to pay the hotel charges in cash and they had no change !!! They demanded that I pay them the exact amount because they couldn't give me change. I had to go looking for change !!!
The beach is in front of the hotel, the bad thing was that there was seaweed and they don't give you an umbrella, only 2 chairs per room and if they give you towels according to the number of people. For the umbrella they charge you $ 17 per day.
Good location, you can go for a walk along the pedestrian area and access the many restaurants in the area.
I went to the beach and the service was of excellent quality the food tasted good all very clean the waiters have excellent customer service I hope to return very soon
I loved my stay at the palms great room good food,
I think it's a legit 4 star hotel. The lobby is a bit outdated but the rooms are clean and nice. The outdoor pool area is very nice.
Great resort, lots of things to do including the beach. Nice pools with water exercise. Nice restaurants and bars.
Their phone system didn't work (nobody picked up in the evening or the morning of our departure. 1st world problems when you have to go downstairs to ask to have you car brought around.
I have stayed here everytime I came to miami. This WAS my place...royal palm will never be recommended by us.
When you love a place and someone gets seriously injured and they do NOTHING FOR YOU...makes u wonder huh?
It took us 7 1/2 hours to get into our room.....our penthouse ocean view $800 a night room...and u go up and the cleaning lady is only half way done at 4:30....
So unorganized and unprofessional!
I'm going next door to Lowe's!!!!!!
Screw this place!
Never ever ever again!!!!
So many outdoor spaces, great food, awesome pool.. It's the first hotel at the north end of the strip so it's cheaper than Nikki beach and actually right on the beach. Most hotels on the strip are across the street. Close to everything too!
Major let down. Rooms smelled of strong disinfectant. Furniture was all scratched like my old dorm furniture. The shower curtain was stained. The shower faucet was broken and almost falling off. Lamp looked like a fire hazard. No one wore name badges or uniforms stating they were affiliated with the hotel. Took 10 minutes to find a someone to provide towels by the pool. Before we checked out I pulled back the sheets and there was a bunch of hair and dirt on the mattress cover. Horrible! I was there over a month ago and am still telling people how bad it was. If they did not say that they were an elite hotel I would let it slide somewhat. This was a pricey joint and charged a premium for every little thing so their game needs to be higher. Skip it, there are plenty of other hotels on the beach.
3.5 star hotel. Decent. Definitely better than boutique hotels on the strip but still within walking distance of everything
Very loud hotel. Should not be in the SPG portfolio. Public places are nice but the room are tiny. Very expensive for what you get.
The hotel staff were very accommodating and the short walk to the the beach and Ocean Drive made it an awesome trip
