I'm overall satisfied and I understand that, perhaps, they do their best.
It's hard to reach them by phone and if you ran into an emergency you have to be very luck.

I understand also that they might me overloaded but there is no point in saying that the practice was send one date and then discover that it was sent only 2 weeks later.
On the other hand they helped me out as best as they could but it depends a lot on who you find on the other end of the line.

Aside from the phone issue and the phony date in which the practice should have been sent, I'm satisfied and I understand their situation.

They can be hard to contact by phone but otherwise i found dealing with this Embassy the same as when i go to Italy. Be patient, and don't lose your cool.
Big thank you to Ruggero in the office who really is a top bloke and helped me out heaps. Cheers again mate!

The Italian embassy in Dublin represents Italy exactly. No response to the many calls, weeks to receive a response to my repeated emails and the website in continuous work in progress does not allow you to access even the basic services such as the renewal of a document.
Every time I deal with them I remember exactly why I left my country. Compliments

Most burocratic place on earth! They take for ever to reply, keep ginving you incomplete information and referring you to the wrong places.
I told one of their employees thank you for nothing and the guy went full mafia on me, threatening me with not issuing the documents I requested. No wonder why Italian ID is still made from cardboard.

When they answer by phone their are rud. I would like to go to Roma is one of my dream but the people are rud, they don't have good communication with the costumer services. I think I have to go for my another dream France.

A phone number and no one answers, an EXCELLENT service to say the least.
But do you need the staff employed? Why not remove all these numbers directly from the site, then what about the hours available, 2 hours and then?
If a God exists, take action.

My experience with the Italian Embassy in Dublin was simply delightful. From the first contact with them I have felt like an italian citizen that is something that I rarely sensed, sadly, in my home country. In particular I would like to say a big thank you to Dr. Orchidea for his availability and courtesy. I feel more italian now :)

Impossible to reach by phone.
At the number provided by google you will find an answering machine that will give you other numbers to call, don't waste time, nobody will answer you.
At the number given for emergencies, however, you won't even be able to leave a message .. the voice mail is full and they probably don't have time to listen to the messages (after all, why should they, it's just the number for emergencies).
Totally inefficient, as several acquaintances who tried to use their supposed services had commented to me ... I didn't want to believe it, but the evidence of the facts confirms it.

Reeks of inefficiency and bureaucracy. No seating arrangement and no proper plan means you have to wait for long hours while submitting and collecting. Quite random. The only good thing is I got it in 3 weeks.

Excellent experience for the renewal of passports,...

Excellent experience for the renewal of passports, the replacement of the identity card of the girl and the new one of the newborn. Dr Testuccia is really courteous, exhaustive and all the staff efficient. A credit goes to the Carabiniere (I think) in front of the entrance, always kind and smiling. Thanks

Horrible service. I don't have words to describe how bad it is. Staff is just inefficient and rude, i can't even understand how they are actually working there and how they got this job. They are not able to give any information, even a simple one, they just don't know. Then they ask people to send emails, never returned. Worst service I have ever seen in my life.

Great service from my experience. I turned to them 3 times for different reasons and I have always found very kind and helpful staff who solved everything quickly. Lately I made an appointment for my son's passport and I only waited 10 minutes, time needed to fill out the forms and print the same, despite the fact that there were many people.

I got an appointment in the Italian Embassy (before the pandemic) and it was probably the worst experience I ever had. The woman who talked to me was so so rude and angry that I left the place about to cry.

A few months later I needed to contact them again, but this time I sent an email instead and a man called Francesco phoned me to talk about my questions. He was so nice, friendly and helpful. Even when he couldn t do much to help me he tried his best. I really appreciate that!

For that reason I decided to give 3 stars. It would be amazing if we have more people like Francesco working in the Italian Embassy.

estimated 5 months for a passport renewal. 2 months for a national id card renewal. - ps.note "estimated". dirty and filthy reception. staff is very kind yet you could see their frustration on offering a service soooo badly managed.

But NOW
No Feed back from e-mails and Phone Calls..
Need a Visa for trip in 3 Days, squeezed in an appointment, and hopefully Visa is Ready for Trip..

The embassy itself is not bad, and it has a small bathroom if you need it. Anyway if you need a friendly place, well is not in here. The majority of the employees are really impolite, and unhelpful. Recently few new entry were courteous and they try to help, but unfortunately I saw them just twice. Moreover they are really slow in doing even the simple and easy stuff. If it was a private company the majority of them should have been fired long ago.

I would never like to go back to this place... the...

I would never like to go back to this place... the most inefficient and mismanaged place ever.
1. There is no proper waiting room, you need to stand while you wait for your time (they are usually running 45 mins to 1 hour late). If the queue is long it extends outside the building where you need to stand in the cold.
2. The toilets were super dirty, pee all over the floor, no light, no tissues, no warm water.
3. Even though I had appointments both time (while applying and collecting) I waited total of 2.5 hours to get the work done
4. They hold your passport till the day before your trip, even if you apply many weeks in advance.
5. You would be lucky if you get reply on phone or emails.
6. Staff were good but seemed overworked - one person handling everything single all by herself!

Precisely set months in advance for the renewal of the passport, confirmed several times by email and yet 2 hours late in receiving me (they were confused ??? !!! ????) despite the fact that their mistake had been made after a waiting time. Disorganized staff, really VERY slow, and downright negligent. Bad service!

Against all expectations (first time that I renew ...

Against all expectations (first time that I renew my passport and it had taken months to do it in Italy ...) despite the virus and quarantine: passport renewed on the spot! Literally less than 30 'between fingerprints and some signatures!
No difficulty even in making an appointment and asking for info before the actual renewal: clear and quick answers via email!

I was there in 08. Very rude staff told me I needed a missing document. Went home to get it and when I returned was told it was not needed after all. When I asked if they could provide me a copy of a document they said no. When I insisted they told me to leave or they d call the police! Awful experience.

Alter 3 e-mails not answered and a lot phone calls, when finally someone answered they couldn t know a simple answer for my enquiring, we had to book an appointment for 2 months later. I have never had been so mistreated during the appointment for the staff. She was very impatient and rude and I couldn t barely explain my situation and I left with no solution. She refused to help saying was not her duty. I am questioning myself for what purposes there s an embassy in Dublin that is completely inefficient.

Sorry if I write in Italian but I'm Italian. I have been living in Dublin for 10 years, I have practically renewed all my documents in the Embassy, as well as registered the children in the municipality of residence. I started with Signora Paola, then Signor Giovanni and now Signora Altea. All always polite, professional and helpful. They always answered the phone, they always called me back if there was no documentation and they always asked me in the various renewals of the documents if I had booked or booked trips.

I am very happy with the service received from the staff in the Italian Embassy in Dublin. All my emails were answered and followed up efficiently, the staff was very helpful and got my child's ID card on time to travel. Thanks and keep up the good work.

It was way beyond my expectations. For sure it was a pleasant surprise, as I got my new passport in less than 30 minutes.
Great customer service, both when I made my appoint by email and ever better when I was helped by Sra. Althea in person. Thank you once again for your help and kindness.

I can't thank enough the lovely staff of the Itali...

I can't thank enough the lovely staff of the Italian Embassy. This Embassy is very small indeed and a little dated but is not a reflection of the people working in this historic Georgian House. I have been living in Ireland 21 years and recently I dealt with the Embassy on a weekly basis to solve a very sensitive issue with my passport. All staff, in particular Ruggero have done everything to help & support my case. I felt truly at home. They are very professional, friendly and hard working. They deal with an overload of work too big for the number of staff ( not their fault).
I have great respect for our Embassy. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

well, I got the luggage stolen with all my documents and I went to my embassy for help: nothing. More than a week before my next flight and yet, nothing could be done, all the doors shut for me. Emergency Travel Document to fly to Portugal? No. ETD to go back to Italy and get an ID in my town? No. Passport? No, not enough personnel. Even sent my father to my city council in Italy to ask, they said no problem just have the embassy contact us and we'll give the go ahead straight away for a copy of the ID, it takes nothing: they didn't even bother starting the process.
I've been living in Ireland for 12 years.. never bothered them, then the one time you need help from 'your' embassy you get nothing and the long awaited holiday is lost. Obviously if I were a friend/brother/cousin I would have gotten a brand new ID in few hours.
Update: I've waited 3 moths for the id, eventually I had to call and send emails back and forth with the embassy and the city council in Italy to make it happen. When I went to collect I casually asked about the passport.. nothing. My request had disappeared (but all the other papers were there). I had to redo the request (thank God I've asked) I'm only going today to collect it, after exactly 4 months. Good.
