Went for lunch at Smyth with a reservation for 8. Servers were attentive, all food came at once, and everything was tasty. We were one of only a few tables, but that's understandable for noon on a Wednesday.

My husband surprised me with a night at the Iron Horse for my 57th birthday. If you are reading this in the future, please know that in early June of 2020, the world was still on lockdown and many of us were sheltering in place in our homes, and had been for about ten weeks. He wanted us to have a place to sequester beyond the walls of our home, which is nice, but let s face it, not as cool as the Iron Horse. We were assured by the phone call a couple of days before our stay that every effort was being made to make our stay safe from the virus , and that even though the restaurants and bar weren t yet re-opened, room service was working and we would not starve!

We were not disappointed. We chose a corner room on the fifth floor, and we were rewarded with views of downtown, the lake, and the south side. The appointments are amazing. I loved that everything was made of natural elements, from the leather headboard, to the slate counters and glass shower. The king bed was easily the most comfortable hotel bed I ve ever slept in, and we are very seasoned travelers. We were made to feel welcome from the first moment we arrived, and because we were there for my birthday (or maybe because it was the first week back open) we were given a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and comped some mimosas with our breakfast order the next morning. Service was prompt, friendly, and staff were masked, which as a medical professional working on the front lines, I really appreciated.

We will for sure be returning to the iron Horse for a future special occasion, and will be recommending it to local friends and those who may be traveling to the Milwaukee area.

Terrific ambiance, cozy and comfortable decor and furniture, great bar and attentive service overall. We were greeted with a complimentary adult beverage at check-in and given two passes for more complimentary beverages since we were there to celebrate our anniversary. The owner maintained as many architectural features of the original structure as could be done safely and most of it is ~ to us ~ spectacular. The walk-in shower with rainfall showerhead in our room was a welcomed sight compared to the kind of basic hotel bathroom we have come to expect. The TV reception was shoddy and the train is pretty loud when it goes by, but neither of those things will deter us from returning with friends during the fair-weather months when we can enjoy their outdoor seating and walking through the Historic Third Ward.

Really beautiful place, lobby is very classy, free pool table (only one in Milwaukee I'm aware of) walking distance to great restaurants and bars.

Edit: found another free pool table at the Journeyman hotel, though I've not stayed there.

Nothing too special considering how much you spend. Extra to park, extra for anything - snacks, drinks, food (nothing complimentary, but low end kuerig coffee). Restaurant was so-so. I've had better experiences at Hilton.

I hosted a business group with 20 attendees coming in from all over the country. We held our meetings at the hotel over three days and all I can say is the entire experience from hospitality to food, drink, meeting room accommodations, and guest rooms were outstanding. There is so much to do around the area and so many spaces to socialize around the hotel - it was the perfect venue to give people that have never been to Milwaukee a reason to come back. A shout out to Katie the event sales manager to her staff for making our stay memorable- Thank you!

Although this business caters to the Harley owner with it's motif, it is an awesome hotel. Rooms are super comfortable. And for those interested in a romantic get away, it's over the top with robes, slippers and glass walled showers using rain drop shower heads. The best part is that you don't need to leave the room for libations because the bar is second to none. I love this hotel and recommend it to anyone in the Milwaukee area.

best service ever! Upon arriving, the valets: Leo, Paul & James made me feel like a million bucks! Shannon, our waitress for dinner was fantastic! No clue how she mentioned to make us feel like the only people in the place and it was packed that night! Courtney & Kash were super polite and have the info on anything you need there! I love that they also welcome dogs and even have bowls of water for the dogs by the front desk and the dogs name on a welcome board too! Absolute best hotel stay ever! The building itself is really neat too! HUGE rooms!! I will be back, thank you Team Iron Horse for a GREAT experience! Amy C.

Really interesting hotel. Nice looking - not your typical boring hotel. There was a mural in my room on the wall and the decor is modern. The train outside the hotel was loud and annoying when I was trying to sleep. The air conditioning was broken when it was crazy hot outside so not very happy about that though.

I ve never stayed the night but i have grabbed food and drinks there. Both were very tasty. The first time I visited the iron horse hotel I was attending an organized dinner. The food was delicious along with our personal bar. The other times I usually just grab lunch and a drink if I m around the area. I like their mimosas and chicken sandwiches. Sometimes they have live soft music entering the venue. Don t be intimidated the staff is friendly and will guide you to the bar, dinner table, or room.

Have stayed at the Iron Horse for many work-related events. Polite & friendly staff. Awesome bar & restaurant. Rooms are nice. Only negative about the room is that the end of the bed juts out and I keep stubbing my toe or hitting it with my shin in the dark. It's made of metal & darn it, it hurts.

Overpriced valet at $30. Housekeeping knocked out our door to clean 3x between 8-10a with a checkout at noon. The sounds of the hallway and doors slamming can be heard/felt from the entire floor. Nice rooms, but it's just not worth hearing and feeling everyone around you. Tldr; pretentious.

The Iron Horse is simply the best hotel yet. The rooms are huge, decorated in an eclectically beautiful, loft style, with gorgeous bathrooms stocked with ample amenities. The staff is accommodating, friendly and helpful. The food is amazingly good, with a drink menu that has a wide range of creativity and uniqueness. I had a whiskey "cubed" which is made with 3 types of whiskey and black strap bitters, swirling in the ice cube was an orange slice...it's all in the details! The Sunday brunch is overwhelming. I could not believe the variety and the quality of the dishes. The flannel hash, fish tacos and the carving station were the tops for me. But the tiramisu pancakes were the best. The lobby is awesome... large but intimate with antiques and huge comfy chairs and couches. There is even a library stocked with books and games. The entire hotel is pristine, which is a rarity. There isn't a speck of dust or smudge anywhere. Everything sparkles, glistens and every tiny detail reflects the theme of the decor. This hotel is reason enough to visit Milwaukee. Once you check in you will never want to leave!

We were looking for a place to hold a large dinner...

We were looking for a place to hold a large dinner (40) so we went for dinner on the same day of week at the same time to see how they run when we have our dinner
. We went into the bar and were told by a bartender that someone would be with us in a minute. There was one couple at bar and hardly anyone in the restaurant. There were four people behind bar and one that kept coming back and forth. No one would look at us or take a drink order even though they walked by us numerous times doing behind the bar clean up stuff they were not making drinks or serving food. We walked after 10 minutes and went to restaurant on the other side. Hostess said no tables for 2 so we sat at bar. There was and older gentleman bartender who said he had been there for 10 years. He was attentive but made my wife's drink with tonic instead of club soda. We each ordered the same dinner special we received two completely cold dinners...not warm but cold. We assumed they made the specials up in advance and forgot to microwave or reheat. When we left, there was a table for two that had not been occupied the entire time we were there. Bad experience and we never stayed at hotel.....no mas.

I live in Milwaukee and decided to choose the Iron Horse Hotel to propose to my girlfriend this past weekend. I had never stayed there but heard good things about it.
Needless to say all went without a hitch and she said "yes." The accommodations certainly made it that much better. I purchased the "Horsing Around Package" which included a deluxe room, and the hotel had no issues upgrading me to the Alcove. This room was amazing, super spacious, awesome views of Milwaukee, and all in all the best room I ve ever stayed in. I travel often and this room by far ranks highest on my chart. We enjoyed the openness, champaign offered from the package and breakfast at Smyth, and then massages before leaving.
Breakfast was amazing and more food that we could even handle. Massage was a "couple s massage" for 60 minutes. It was fantastic and so relaxing and just what we needed after an emotional and nervous evening.
In conclusion; the hotel and accommodations on site are everything you could need and I would recommend that you stay here even if you are not proposing to the one you love.

After visiting several potential venues around Milwaukee for our small wedding, we quickly decided on The Iron Horse. The space is stunning. Even better , the staff is incredible. Jessica, the event coordinator is one of the most accommodating and amazing event professionals that I've worked with. She's patient and thorough. I'm so excited for our upcoming event at Iron Horse!

My wife and I have been wanting to come here for dinner. They have several dinning options to choose from but we needed going to The Yard.. Ancasual out door drink and dining experience. Comfy seating in a sureen naturescape.. The cons for us were limited dinning menu and service was a bit slow.. All in all we it's still a night place to spend sometime..

I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel a few years ago and the service and warmth they provided was delightful. The hotel is beautifully built and the decor is well thought. I also had the opportunity to enjoy their outdoor patio for drinks on a few occasions. A very classy and relaxing atmosphere that I would recommend.

There are so many reasons I will never visit this ...

There are so many reasons I will never visit this place ever again: Parking is horrible! Concierge was extremely rude and insulting; ignoring me and then asking me loudly if I understood there would be a $100 hold because I used my debit card, I responded several times saying that was fine, but she continued to ask the same question even further saying you know it s called a hold but it s not really a hold they actually take the money out of your account and return it if there are no additional charges after your stay. Again I said that s fine no problem, I even offered to use a credit card but then I m assuming she was done embarrassing me she just handed the card back along with my key card and said no it s fine. You re on the 6th floor.
The room: wreaked of a strong mildew odor. I tried contacting the front desk but received no answer.
I have heard great things about this establishment but learned very quickly that the experience is different for certain individuals and may be based on the customers race. Oh yes, there s so much more I didn t mention.
