Iron Horse Hotel Review

My favorite MKE hotel by a landslide. It has a feel unlike anything else you will see in the city and the vibe is always chill. Friendly service, even pet friendly! Just a gorgeous place to eat or stay or even hang at the bar.

Great hotel at the old district, parking was busy but we got a spot at the end of the day.

Everything was great until the very last moment that I checked out where I had asked to pay in cash and the woman at the front desk acted like I was a nuisance and wasn t helpful at all.

I m publishing under an alias because I don t want to be coddled, just respected.

Visited the bar with a few friends for a drink before heading home. The bartender was very attentive and great at making drinks. All of us but one ordered a drink off of their drink menu and each of them was amazing!

Great stop for lunch .. very nice patio environment

Large suite was very spacious and made for a very enjoyable stay during a very difficult time.

The Iron Horse is in a very interesting part of Milwaukee, where different neighborhoods, cultures and businesses intersect. It is tucked right at the south end of the 6th Street Bridge. Yet you would never know there is traffic right above and behind you.
We sat outside in The Yard for happy hour. It has an ambience that made us feel like we were the cool kids in the cafeteria. We each took part in the drink specials and shared a 3- order basket of the pigs in blankets. These are not ordinary pigs in blankets; it's kielbasa bites wrapped in bacon (all meat!), and and they get em very crispy. They were served with a tangy barbecue sauce that had a kick to it.
The drinks and service were great and then a giant downpour happened and everybody scattered. The sun shades they have up turn the rain into a wonderful mist, but it was torrential so it got pretty unpleasant.
I would have put 5 stars but we were told the wrong amount of pigs per order, so when we ordered so that there were 2 per person, it was not enough.
But that's small potatoes, eh.
Love the self-service orange- blueberry water!
I accidentally left my credit card behind and was pleased that front desk staff kept it in the safe and required my ID the next day to claim it.
The front lobby was very impressive. Can't wait to go back and explore what else they have!

Strike 1. No option but to use valet parking for an additional $30 charge.
2. When making the reservation the website was having "technical difficulties" So I had to call and make the reservation which was substantially more expensive than the online price.
3. When making the reservation I asked about a shuttle service. I was informed by Jasmine about the wonderful courtesy car which would take us to and from our destination. (Obviously within a certain distance) after checking in I asked who I need to speak with about said courtesy car. I was informed they had no longer have it.

I will not stay here again.

Stayed here when attending the Harley Museum Christmas Party. Absolutely beautiful!

A good friend spoke so well of the hotel and motivated me to come by and I am absolutely thrilled I did! From the customer service, to the general ambiance, drinks and outdoor yard, I couldn t have asked for a more fun hotel! We liked it so much we stayed there for the entire evening just mingling! They have a great crowd of people staying and on Saturdays its particularly fun to see the wedding parties congregate in the front hall. We didn t have any pets but they are so pet friendly! We will be coming more often! Rooms are a bit pricey but definitely worth it with their posh design and appliances.

I have enjoyed going to the Iron horse for a couple years now. The only thing keeping this hotel from being 5 stars is the food. Absolutely horrible, I have never seen food presented so well taste so bad. I had to return the cheese curds twice, the hamburger was more like meat loaf, and it was ordered well done but served almost raw. The only thing that made up for it was our server being so nice, I feel really bad for servers who are doing a great job but have to serve horrible food. I was waiting for Gorden Ramsey to run into the kitchen and start screaming.

The Iron Horse Hotel is one of my favorite places to eat and get drinks. The decor is steam punk and they have a pool table.

Ate at the outdoor restaurant before it's official opening and it was enjoyable.

Stopped here with our dogs for a snack and drink on the way North. Awesome dog friendly bar and lobby area. Food was great, very fresh curds. Very accommodating to dogs, bought over water bowls without us asking. Nice place.

The best thing about staying at the Iron Horse is that our group didn't need to travel to other locations around town to enjoy our
vacations during Mama Tried ...... We all just met in the IH Bar , IH restaurant , Downstairs lounge to enjoy ourselves , catching up
with friends from the East Coast , West Coast and Mid-west for Drinks , Fun and Celebration of reconnecting together .
DJ the Bar manager paid extra attention to our group.... Coors Light re-stocking was constantly following .
Our Group wanted me to thank you again for a wonderful stay at the Iron Horse and we look forward to seeing you all next year during Mama Tried !

The Iron Horse Hotel is the best hotel I have stayed at in Milwaukee. I often travel to Milwaukee for business and I have never been disappointed with the rooms, service or food available at this hotel. I recommend it for business travelers and vacationers as it is near several local restaurants and attractions in the downtown area of the city.

Terrible crowd control. Waaayyyy too many people. Corona clueless. Left as soon as I got uncomfortable.

This was a great hotel. The quality of ammenities was top-notch, and we really liked the size and comfort of the room. The hotel is extremely pet-friendly, which could be a polarizing policy, but we loved that. For future Milwaukee visits, this will be our top choice of hotel.

I only toured the "common" areas. Did not even get to see a "guest room".

Great ambience, service and their food is exemplary. Highly recommended!

I love this place . The people are just very nice . Food is great also

Went there to meet up with two friends. We had three or four cheese plates, and three drinks each for a 120 usd bill. So you get my point, this is expensive. But the service is great! The manager came at our table and asked the chef to customize our cheese plate because some of us had food restrictions. So the meal was expensive for a regular hanging out with friends but the service was impeccable and very accommodating.

Beautiful rooms, amazingly helpful staff, gorgeous views. Definitely coming back!

Amazing hotel. I love the lounge area when you first walk in! Comfortable place to stay. All of the staff is very friendly. Good food. Awesome rooms. Can't wait to recommend this to everyone and go back someday soon!

Paid for a king size bedroom the central air did not work so they switched me to a double bed instead of another king size room.. room space way smaller furniture chipped up VERY UNSATISFIED! And the rooms are not sound proof!

Haven't stayed here before but the bar and restaurant is very nice!

Love the venue, but the bathrooms need work. As large as they are (corner unit, best room they have), the water pressure is terrible and the showers simply don't work very well. Also the showers have a translucent window into the bedroom, which is cool, but the website to the outside in the bathroom has no blackout curtains, so the light bleeds into the bedroom and caused you to wake up earlier than you might want to.

Nice but edgy hotel. Pet friendly with a good bar. Recommend the tapas restaurant served in the main area over the sit down restaurant.

Beautiful hotel. We were there for a birthday party. Food was fine. Chicken was under cooked. Service was great!

Very good unique brunch experience. Several meats, cutting table, omelette bar. Fresh salad fixings and desserts. Restraurant has a chic industrial feel. Well trained friendly staff.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. If you don t enjoy sleeping this is the place for you. We came here so we could get a good nights sleep away from our kids. However, they hold parties in the lounge till well after 1am. The rooms are SO loud. By the time you can actually fall asleep you are then woken by the 6am morning crowd. On top of that the staff is incredibly rude.

Very cool ambiance at this hotel. It was a great location for coming in on the Lake Express and staying for a few days. The room was very comfortable. The train that runs right past the building is a bit loud at night. Super friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant at the bar was a bit slow for our group of 18, even though they knew we were coming. Nice meeting space available. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

The decoration of the place is really nice. Food was good as we're the drinks. Recommend

Great hotel. Close to downtown and third ward shopping, food, etc. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and quick to resolve even slight issues. Nice gym, for those that use everyday.

Lots of fun events here open to everyone. Went to the Prohibition party and the Tiki Takeover party recently, had a blast. When they get swamped the bars take a while for your drinks though, but the cocktails are worth the wait.

The bar at Iron Horse is bougie, but the decor mostly sells the fantasy.

The architecture was beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was absolutely the best! Everything we could need was provided plus a stocked mini fridge and some adult beverages. Snacks in the room also. The lobby had several nice amenities as well. The bar was great with a friendly tender. The food was phenomenal! Will definitely stay here again.

Went for a seminar. Very good facilities for the seminar. We were all on laptops...Wi-Fi worked great.

My husband surprised me with a lovely stay at the Iron Horse for my 40th birthday. The hotel is beautiful, oozing character and old Milwaukee charm. Yet, it was the exceptional staff which made our visit truly wonderful. Specifically, Christine at the front desk went out of her way to make our stay memorable which was so appreciated and unexpected. Beautiful hotels don't always include wonderful staff and the amazing staff is what made our stay at the Iron Horse a fantastic experience.

I was there for a work party and the food was very good. The specialty cocktails are wonderful. The rooms are a good blend of modern and eccentric.

Little pricey, but totally worth it. The female bartender was awesome.

I don t know that I ve ever loved an experience staying at a hotel more. The hospitality here was wonderful and I would definitely stay here again (please open more locations besides Milwaukee)!

The only downside was the parking situation - valet only if you want something affiliated with the hotel. Since I had never been to Milwaukee before I didn t want to chance parking in the ramp next door.

Went for dinner and drinks with friends. Dinner was awesome. I had the pork and my wife has the steak. Both were cooked to perfection. Drinks from the bar were tasty. We went early in the evening so we had the place to ourselves. It was quiet enough to have a conversation without having to shout, which is rare at most places these days. I would gladly go back.

The iron horse is a great hotel. I had drinks at the branded bar where Chelsea was great. The drinks were awesome! We played pool on that huge table. I also lost my purse there, but on the way out, I checked and luckily it was at the front desk. Thank you iron horse!

It's no wonder I just saw this place rated as the top hotel in the state of Wisconsin. They have built a culture around this hotel and if you aren't set on the hotel as a whole go for the aesthetics of the place. Beautiful mesh of wood and metal architecture. The rooms are very minimalist and sleek which I love and they always have something going on . I don't want to spoil too much so just go try it out for yourself. Even if it to just go get drinks at their luxury bar.

I only had brunch at the Iron Horse, but it was one of the best brunches I've had in Milwaukee. The service was spectacular didn't have to wait for anything. The food was phenomenal

We had a reservation for 10, they said they did not have that much space in the restaurant so they gave us the bar area, offered ear plugs for the noise. Ten is not that many, no small children to bother anyone. I had a latte and it was lukekwarm, no offer, except they were having trouble with their machine. One patron had hash brown, said they tasted of burnt oil and were not very warm, piece of bacon was over done and cold when served. Some of the food seemed to be prepared ahead of time. Oatmeal was served without sugar or fruit to give it flavor. Waffles and eggs were okay. The valets that parked my car were very helpful when they saw I had a cane, even when we came to pick up the car they had it parked in easy access for me.

Ash is pretty cool place. You won't regret if you have a date there.

This hotel is the place to stay in Milwaukee. Its attention to detail and comfort will make you feel like you have renovated your house and you are pleased with the decorator! LOL The staff is amazing, food is delectable and location great. I felt like I was in another city maybe on the east coast or something. No knock against Milwaukee, but I felt like I was in a busy big city. If I lived in Milwaukee, I would stay here a night just to feel like I went to NYC for the night! No need to leave the hotel, the bar is amazing! I bet it really gets exciting. All in all a great place to stay, I will definitely be coming back.

Great throwback theme in decor. The artwork was outstanding. My room was 405 and it was very spacious and well stocked with snacks and drinks. Good Coffee bar set up in room as well.

We attended an event and stayed overnight at the hotel. Everything was wonderful including the food, hotel rooms, decorations around the hotel and staff. Would definitely recommend!

Nice place to stay! Room was a little small, but then you are only there to sleep in a room. Very comfortable and overall nice. I would stay again when in the area!
