Fantastic style, great food at the restaurant Smyth, very friendly staff.
I get to stay here a few times a year for business and it's consistently awesome. Great bar, good food, beautiful decor, and helpful staff. Book it.
We recently stayed at the Iron Horse for a significant anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. The facility is awesome (...an over used word - but it certainly fits this facility), the architecture is amazing, the obvious quality restoration and attention to preserving notable historic detail is very impressive while keeping a contemporary feel. The artwork was extraordinary, - an unexpected highlight. Everything felt clean and fresh and well maintained. The food was excellent as well as the service; friendly and attentive. The room we occupied had wonderful views of the river and downtown Milwaukee. The facility was quiet and the room inviting and comfortable. We've stayed at the Historic Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and feel the Iron Horse was every bit comparable in excellence.
I travel frequently and have stayed at some great places but the Iron Horse was the most amazing hotel experience I have ever had. I was there for New Year's Eve and it was the most well put together James Bond themed party I have ever seen. Huge shout-out to the amazing and cheery staff, owners, and bartenders!
Visited during the 115th to the bar and a special 4 course dinner and Jack Daniels pairing. Drinks were good but pricey for MKE. The band was very good. Dinner was amazing and the staff was very professional.
Hotel with character. Looks a very nice place to stay.
We went to the Iron Horse for my Brothers birthday. There are many bars within walking distance. The hotel was more than kind to us while
Really cool hotel with great lobby and off beat decor that makes for a good change of pace from all the look alike chain hotels. First class service and welcoming cocktail kick off your stay in a unique and refreshing way.
The decoration is very nice, the food is delicious and the service is professional.
Pros: Beautiful rooms, great service, cool bar/restaurant. Cons: very expensive
Went for the Kentucky Derby. Everything was ridiculously priced and the building was extremely hot. The did a better job than last year by providing more room to socialize outside, but didn't provide any viewing in that area.
Very expensive, for alright food. Very nice environment. Can get loud depending how many people are there.
All the staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel!
It was great! Plenty of amenities and friendly staff with knowledge of the area. Beautiful location and clean rooms. We we're bummed that they didn't have a spa service available at the time of our visit but we would love to go back again!
The waitress was very friendly. We had a large party and they did an excellent job. It was my first time eating there and the food was great. It's a really cool place.
My wife and I booked a stay through HotelTonight two days prior to our check-in day and attempted to check in to the Iron Horse at 3pm (check in time) on a Saturday. We had driven up from Chicago and were anxious to get to our room, get refreshed, and go out around town. But we were informed by the front desk that our room wasn t available because it wasn t clean yet.
So the lady offered to hold our bags in the back and gave us two free drink coupons (we don t drink btw) and told us she would call us when the room was ready. Meanwhile 3 other groups of people before and after us checked in and went to their rooms.
My wife and I decided to go across the street for tacos and returned at 3:40. (You would think that someone would have been ordered to clean our room in this time but nope. . .). We returned to learn that our room was still not ready.
We went to sit down and again another couple walked in (late mind you bc now it s 3:45) checked in and went right up to their room. I walked over and asked the lady at the front desk how come everyone else who checked in could go to their room while we had to wait even though we arrived on time and she responded that there are different types of room.
[Hmmm. I don t travel much but I do land in a hotel about 6-8 times per year. Earlier this year I arrived at a hotel in NYC at 11am to check in (which was at 2pm) and the lady said to me that my room wasn t ready and then told me she would get me a DIFFERENT room. I thought nothing of it at the time, but now it sounds like a genius reaction. . .or maybe it would have just been common sense to get me and my wife a room that was ready seeing as we were standing at the front desk waiting and it was not our fault.]
I replied that I know what a different type room means and asked for my bags back and the refund of any money paid so I could get my different type room up out of there.
Needless to say, everyone was wonderful in helping us leave, but I really wish that one of the 4 people that helped us had thought to either:
A. Have housekeeping prioritize our room when we first arrived at 3 so it could be ready at 3:40 or,
B. Given us a different room that was ready at 3:40 when we came back.
I have never stayed at the Iron Horse and this is why.
Stayed here on our wedding night, and again for an anniversary staycation during COVID. Rooms are wonderful, staff is top notch, and the food and beverages are all fantastic. Found out through one of their incredibly friendly bartenders that they have the best rated cheese curds in Wisconsin! Would steer any family coming in from out of town towards this place.
My favorite place in Milwaukee for patio drinks! Great atmosphere! Fabulous cocktails. Service can be a little slow.
Expensive drinks. Didn't have any food. Nice open area with sofa & coffee tables. 500 west Florida Street Milwaukee.
What an Awesome Hotel , clean , , great food and great accommodations .
Stayed their with my wife recently while she was on business great use of an old warehouse love the atmosphere. Short ride into downtown Milwaukee and close to the HARLEY DAVIDSON Museum . Can't wait to come back in warmer weather !
We didn't stay as guests, but we attended their Kentucky Derby party and it was a great time
Great atmosphere. Great location, innovative look for Milwaukee.
Being a fan of the industrial look, stopping here was a no-brainer. The decor is incredible, the staff friendly, and the drinks amazing. An incredible hotel that does a very classy job of blending the old and the new.
We ate supper at the restaurant. Great food! Pricey!
We decided to spent our night at this Hotel. It was one of the most comfortable and least expensive in our journey. We greatly enjoyed!
Came here for brunch and it was fantastic! All you can eat and they even make dishes to-order from the kitchen. Each brunch comes with 3 mimosas as well so it definitely pays for itself with the amount of food and drink you get. Highly recommend it!
Really nice hotel with good atmosphere and good food. Would recommend to anyone.
Beautiful decor, very comfortable rooms. Bar service was great. Very well maintained. Dog friendly, fun seeing the furry friends hanging around. Great atmosphere. Our room had beautiful view of skyline.
Amazing place for bike night. Got the BELT sandwich....delicious.
Can't wait to actually stay here.
Very cool theme, the staff is very friendly. Overall a very nice place to stay.
Stayed at this hotel on a business trip. Couldn't of been more impressed.
The hotel staff is awesome, the rooms are cool as he'll and the ambiance is bitchin!
Went there for brunch. Very good except the line for the omlettes was long. If they had another egg dish that would be nice too. Environment and service were terrific! Would come here again.
Stayed there on my wedding night, great service, modern rooms with great views of the city. Friendly staff. All around great experience.
Not quite what we were expecting. This hotel bills itself as a luxury one...but it is more yuppy hotel than luxury. Sadly...the hotel welcomes dogs and the rooms smell like it. We walked in and put our suitcases on the bench and noticed dog hair on them. Not to mention the dogs barking at all hours of the night. The rooms are open and spacious...but they give tiny bed pillows...not full size ones which make it hard to sleep. It is close and central to a lot of places...but the parking cost it insane. $25 overnight public parking or $30 valet.
The hotel is very nice. Their rooms are spacy and I like the architecture. Also the brunch was top notch.
Unfortunately the banging music on Friday and especially on Saturday night that went till 11 pm was unbearable.
The sad part is that nobody told us this would happen till we were there to stay...
I attended a conference held at the hotel but did not stay in a room overnight. The facility is beautiful and well-maintained. The bathrooms were clean. The food served was pretty good for a catered lunch (sandwiches, salad, a beer cheese soup). The coffee was unfortunately burned. I had the option for valet parking but opted to street park just 3 blocks away for free with no time limit, which was great! I would recommend this hotel to anyone (just bring your own coffee).
What a wonderful relaxing outside environment. So chill!!
Wish I could give a review of an actual stay, but didn't get that far. We're excited to attend a wedding here in Sept. Called tonight to ask a few questions we couldn't find answers to on the website before booking. When I called and asked the woman if she's the right person to answer the questions, she let out the biggest sigh (not to be more dramatic, but my husband heard it across the room..) and said "yeah it's me, can you hold?"
After over 15 minutes on hold, forget it. If her attitude wasn't atrocious, I wouldn't have minded the wait. Other priorities happen, I get that. We don't want the inconvenience and we'll book elsewhere and travel to the wedding.
Attention to detail: mine. As you approach the hotel, you know you are in a different place. You have become part of the city's past, in an upscale kind of way. I was greeted at the front door, the welcome was warm for a single female traveler, in jeans, ratty leather jacket, old wool scarf and mittens. I should have felt out of place, but I was enveloped by the warmth of the staff who were clearly part of what this old building was all about...something old and forgotten with a new life breathed into it. Mind you, I don't mean remodeled, I mean lovingly restored to its former dignity. Art and artifacts of its past speak of its former life, how it was part of a growing industrial city, of those that came there everyday of their working life and toiled. Yes, I could relate, and I felt comfort there. As the elevator doors opened, I was greeted by a large pup and his human awaiting their turn. His wagging tail and an approving glance from his human and my welcome was complete. They, too, were guests. My room was large, huge windows along one wall overlooking one of the city's neighborhoods in early stages of revival, rebirth. There were heavy-duty hooks for leather coats and a bench that emerged from the rough brick wall, inviting one to sit and take off your boots. Oh, this makes sense, the city's heritage is rich in Harley Motor Cycles. It is a welcoming touch. The bathroom is heavy duty gorgeous. Not foo-foo pretty, but a place where washing off the day feels comfortable. And the towels, well, who ever mentions the towels in a hotel review? These are worthy. In short, the space is warm and makes you feel part of the story. I had dinner in the bar both nights I was there. The bartenders made sure I felt a part of the crowd, treating me like I was a regular. They made it easy to be there by myself. This is not your ordinary hotel bar. It is part of this neighborhood's culture, where office suits and industrial sweat equity types choose to wind down their day. As an observer, I was a privileged.
I left this place renewed...uplifted...at peace. I didn't come looking for it. It found me.
This is our go-to hotel. Staff is always warm and will go to great lengths to fulfill our requests. Truly one-of-a-kind service. And the pool is amazing!
Unique hotel with great staff. Staff offered extra help and always checked in to be sure we were wil taken care of. Will definitely return here if I'm ever in Milwaukee!
We attended a Sunday brunch at the restaurant.Food and service we're excellent!
Fantastic service and convenient location. Minor little things here and there, none really worth mentioning because of the short stay. If I had been staying longer? Maybe. Would consider staying here again on another visit to Milwaukee.
Went to the Iron Horse for a work lunch and the food was fantastic!
I absolutely love that you can enter in preferences for the rooms after booking! The option to request a check in time and then receive a text message when the room is available is amazing.
5 stars without hesitation!
Sets the bar for service and atmosphere.
Our stay here was unforgettable
Loved, loved this hotel! Staff was amazing. The rooms were clean and beautiful. Will be back here again!
Brunch is overpriced for a standard hotel buffet brunch. Just go to a nice restaurant and order what you want. You'll get better food at the same or better price.
Nice up scale Hotel. Friendly Helpful Curtious staff. Close to down town amenities. Fun place to visit. Check out the outdoor space.
Such a beautiful place with great service and great location.
Had a few drinks at the bar, service was very attentive
Absolutely spectacular hotel! I have traveled many places and stayed in a thousand hotels(not exaggerating) and surprisingly the best hotel isn't in N.Y. or Cali, but Milwaukee.
The check in was fast. Lady who checked me in very friendly and helpful. While I waited, gave me a tasty drink. The lobby is lovely and spacious. The bar is fun with delicious drinks and a sweet bartender. The room is beautiful, so big, clean and bed comfy. The front desk left me a lovely hand written note too.
They allow animals and put their names on a sign in the lobby by check in with treats and water. They also offer a pup menu for room service.
There is valet, but also parking literally next store. No in and out, but 15.00 if paid on site. I paid 14.00 on parking panda. Hotel site notes a garage with in and out access(self park) for 30.00 too if needed.
Location is nice as well. Within walking distance to a distillery and the Harley-Davidson museum. Also, close to highway too.
I never write reviews till I've left the location, but this hotel is too spectacular to not post right away. Special thanks to Veronica for the note and taking care of an issue for us.
Just came for drinks before a wedding. Great beer selection and cozy atmosphere.
My wife and I had gotten married in town and wanted to do something special for the evening rather than go home like any other. This hotel made it a special night. The staff was aware of the occasion and went out of there way to make sure it remained special. Add on to this the amazing room, view, amenities and service, it is a phenomenal establishment and will be regularly recommended to others. Special day or no.
At the edge of the 3rd ward, repurposed factory building. Interesting vibe not your typical hotel. It is removed from any attractions, so make sure you have assess to a car or uber. Overlooks the train tracks and rivers
Went for Sunday brunch at Smyth. Unfortunately, what was one of the best brunches around about 6mo ago, has fallen off big time. Offerings have been scaled back, price stayed the same. Just not worth splurging on anymore.
Great atmosphere to have a couple drinks with friends.
I have not stayed overnight at the Iron Horse but their seating area is very roomy but comfortable and they have an excellent cocktail menu. Service is prompt and courteous.
