I purchased a car from Japan and took Friday off to register/ insure it. I spent 3.5 hours in one office until leaving with a 3 day permit because a system update in September wont accept Japanese vin numbers. I got another opinion on Saturday, no go. I then took Monday off work, spent 4 hours in another office, paid pst on the new vehicle, parking costs and ended up leaving with 5 x 3 day permits. Why can't this be fixed? There is no reliable communication, I called general inquires at 1030, have still not recieved a call back. What is going on!?!

ICBC is the worst company and monopoly in Canada, it's what you would imagine in communist Russia. ICBC has the worst customer satisfaction out of all insurance companies in Canada, the highest insurance rates in Canada (and what I'm guessing in North America). It's a shame that this model continues to exist in B.C.

THIS IS ABOUT THE OFFICE AT 78TH & 132 ST. - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THIS WEEK - IN 80 DEGREE TEMPERATURES - TOOK BUS TO THIS LOCATION HAVING TO WALK 8 OR MORE BLOCKS DUE TO A DRIVER'S WRONG DIRECTIONS - GOT TO OFFICE & STOOD IN A LINE UP OF 35 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME (OVER 1/2 HOUR WAIT) ONLY TO BE RUDELY TOLD (BY A MANAGER I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH) THAT SHE 'DID NOT CARE' WHAT I HAD BEEN THROUGH ON MY WAY THERE & THAT THEY COULD NOT PROCESS MY RENEWED CARE CARD DUE TO THE FACT I DID NOT HAVE PRIMARY ID. - LANDING PAPERS - I'VE BEEN IN THE COUNTRY SINCE 1954 WAS LANDED IN 1976 & HAVE HAD A CARE CARD FOR DECADES & S.I.N. - A QUICK CHECK ON THE COMPUTER WOULD HAVE CONFIRMED ALL OF THAT.
SO, NEXT DAY, WENT TO A DIFFERENT OFFICE, WITH NEW BRITISH PASSPORT & VERIFICATION OF LANDING PAPERS - TOLD IT WAS STILL NOT ACCEPTABLE - OUTSIDE 80 DEGREES AGAIN & USING THE BUS SYSTEM.
ALL THIS WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS I AM DEALING WITH.
I WILL BE MAKING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT OVER THIS WITH I.C.B.C.
I ADVISE ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN TREATED IN SUCH A MANNER, TO MAKE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT ABOUT IT...THAT'S HOW THINGS GET ADDRESSED, OTHERWISE, THEY WILL CONTINUE THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR, THINKING THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

The customer service I recently experienced at ICB...

The customer service I recently experienced at ICBC Headquarters in North Vancouver was excellent. I went to ICBC HQ to drop off a Collector's plates application and related photos. After entering off Esplande, I was greeted by a friendly security guard who suggested I go to the main entrance (facing the SeaBus) and speak to someone in the Collector's plates section. I was surprised, I thought I would just drop off an envelope. Actually see someone in person without an appointment? No way, right? So, I went over and within 10 minutes of walking in the door I was speaking to someone about Collector's plates! He was super friendly, funny and took the time to review my application, which was approved. I told him my insurance would expire in 2 days. He said that he'd complete the application and I could come back in 2 days to get my new plates and insurance at the Collector rate, wow! Yesterday I went in and got the plates and insurance. Again, my experience with everyone was outstanding and everything was processed quickly. I was in and out within 20 minutes. Those providing customer service at ICBC can't do anything about pricey car insurance rates, but they can make customer experiences positive; mine was and then some. Thanks for the seamless and enjoyable experience.

So is ICBC going to defer insurance costs during this virus or are you going to continue to show everyone the true greediness of your company. You are making money off of people's hardships right now, really shows your true colors. Maybe if we all decided not to pay you guys throughout this it might change some things

ICBC is over priced and out of touch. The fact that the rates are so astronomical it's shocking to see how in debt they are -- a little bit of mismanagement of funds has seemed to hurt the people insured, not the top earners in this crooked company. If you leave BC it is extremely difficult to cancel your insurance and registration with this company.

In general very bad company. I was in an accident and my ski rack broke. ICBC had vendor(s) so we could deal with them directly, instead they denied. I phoned several times and few times with an intimidation tone they said they don't have it and I have to purchase it and later get reimbursed. ICBC wants to buy time as much as it can for paying or after a year not paying it at all. Eventually one said they have a vendor but the methodology is still the same again with an intimidation voice. I was talking with the auto body shop so maybe they have to get involved and later on after wasting a lot of time I found that they can't. Eventually a vendor that I found sent ICBC a letter and ICBC's 7th agent cooperated. I had to waste so much time for what ICBC wanted to hold back. Same with my cars over the COVID-19 situation that they charged $600 without notifying me. Gov't monopoly, $1.3B loss in 2018, etc. It's sad that we have no choice but work to with them.

This insurance company is the worst i have seen in my life the history of this licensing and insurance company is full of scandals and crooks working for this company and ripping off the public. From scandals of its employees getting access to expensive salvaged vehicles at pennys and reselling them, to over priced crook managment, to selling their drivers licenses to asians for $5000 and the list keeps going and they keep increasing insurance on the public how the hell we can afford this. I hope the go bankrupt and close down.

Absolutely scam organization. Honestly a disgrace for BC. They can t even do their jobs properly they need to be overthrown. The high level executives are pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars while the people of BC suffer. I would never recommend this company to anyone. This scam needs to end!

Update: After renewing my insurance my insurance went up by $160 dollars a month! I have no accidents & tickets. This scam organization is punishing young drivers what a bunch of thugs! Disappointed.

You should not say that you are open at 8:00 when ...

You should not say that you are open at 8:00 when you open at 8:30. I was there at 8:00 and to wait half an hour even though some of the staff was already in the office, no one will help you until 8:30.
In general, I do not have the best experience with ICBC.

walked in to pay a ticket and the woman at the front desk told me if I want a discounted rate I could take her for dinner and drinks and even went as far as saying and I quote "nothing makes my twatter water like some baby duck champagne and endless moustache Rides" she then proceeded to stare at my pants while rubbing her elbows gently... she made me very uncomfortable and I probably would never go back to pay another ticket again.

I just wanted to congratulate the Corporation as it hits a 1 Billion dollar deficit. Id like to thank all the lousy drivers that drive extra fast in blizzards, cause they really had too. Id like to thank all the BC drivers that leave behind any common sense they ever had before getting into a motor vehicle in the first place. Id also like to take this time to congratulate the person whom landed a $300+K job as chair for this corporation as he or she has really done a fabulous job at driving this corporation into the ground.

Moved from Alberta. Had 35 years of great insurance experiences in Alberta. Same coverage went from $1900 for two cars in Alberta to $$4600 for two cars in BC!!! That s an increase in cost of 242% for the exact same coverage. How is ICBC a good institution serving the tax payers?

Well I'm back living in Alberta and I'm happy to say that my motorcycle insurance (with the very exact same coverage mind you) now costs over SIX TIMES less than it did in BC. No accident, small engine and all. Those guys are an obscene cash grab and they're talking of raising things even more. How about making that affordable NDP ?
