Best and most beautiful resort I have stayed in my life, the attention and service is fast and good, the food and drinks... The BEST, it was so comfy even when it was raining. The beach next to the resort is not clean and not so cool, but who wants to go out to the beach having an excellent resort, honestly. If you need a beach travel to the ones around phi phi islands or others.

We were a little disappointed with the division - where it turned out that there were a number of places the children were not allowed to come, and yet we were given rooms in the immediate vicinity of the pools we were not allowed to use with our children. From there there was noise in the evening with loud music and drinks all over the counter ... we did not care .. so we were allowed to move rooms.
There are incredibly nice and friendly staff. Delicious food and fine pools. But not as much catered to family with children as we had expected though

All around a wonderful experience. Great people, great service and amazing facilities. Surrounding area seems dodgy at best. Spent almost all of our time at hotel. Beware of visit to Tiger enclosure. Very expensive and very exploitive of animals. No attempt to present them naturally.

Beautiful resort.. very well decorated.. vintage style.. big rooms.. nice landscape like a tropical jungle.. friendly staff.. food was amazing in Tin Mine main restaurant and the Thai restaurant black ginger.. Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The service was excellent. Nicely decorated and clean rooms. Great pools. Large selection at the breakfast buffet.
Prices for food, drinks and massages are way too expensive.
We had a cockroach in the bathroom every night. Since the Slate was our first accommodation in Thailand, we thought that we would have to come to terms with it in Thailand. Now, after three weeks of Thailand tour and also only 3 star accommodations, we have to say that the Slate was the only hotel with cockroaches.

Please do not believe in the ratings and fake reviews, this place is exceptionally poor. It is run down 3 star pretending to be a 5 star. If you go to booking.com, the last 50 reviews is one word 10/10 reviews "Exceptional", how can the hotel decieve like this with the fake reviews?

Beautiful place, in front of one of the most pleasant beaches of Phuket. Extraordinary hotel with attentive staff and rooms worthy of a palace. Well worth its five stars. To recommend urgently!

Very nice hotel in an industrial style, tastefully decorated, next to the beach.
5-star service, really appreciated!
The rooms are spacious, beautiful and comfortable
7 minutes from the airport without too much nuisance

I arrived at the check in at 11 o'clock, but I didn't enter the room yet and just took the receptionist for a walk. I got a squall but it's gone soon. I went to see the plane because it is near by motorbike taxi to Nai Yang Beach Airport view. I got a guide to my room as soon as I got home. There is a comfortable sofa with a view of the pool from the balcony in the room on the second floor.
There are three swimming pools but two are adult only. The family pool is wide and shallow to deep. There was a little toy and the kids could play happily.
As soon as you go out from the hotel site, there is a beach and there are plenty of mini mart and food stalls, so there is no problem.
The sea is very shallow and very transparent. I can also meet small fish.
Jellyfish got stabbed and returned to the hotel, and when I consulted at the reception desk, I received a very polite response. He gave me an appropriate explanation and he gave me an allowance. It didn't get worse and I had a good time the next day.
Dinner at RIVET (Japanese Restaurant). The rice is delicious with Japanese rice and the sashimi is fresh. I requested a course meal. Everything is a satisfying menu. Kids menu is also fulfilling.
Breakfast is great. Pancakes-Waffles-Donuts-Egg dishes-Noodles-These are made on the spot. Vegetables, fruits and fresh juice are both fresh and delicious.
The staff were all kind and polite and full of smiles.
The only disappointing thing is that there is no toothbrush in the room.
I love the fragrant bath gel and gentle shampoo.

We stayed in a Pearl Bed Suite which is your basic accommodation but it was spacious and well accommodated.

We particularly liked the 2 of 3 pools were for adults only including a swim-up-bar and a lap pool.

The 4 restaurants offering ranges of cuisines (Thai, Western, grill and Japanese) were all very good but you paid for that. Black Ginger being memorable. 24hr room service menu was of great quality as well with some of the best spaghetti carbonara I've ever tasted. The local area is filled with good restaurants if you're looking for value.

The spa is spectacular and it feels like they've thought of everything to help you surrender into bliss. We did a 'hit and heal' package - private muay Thai class followed by a 1hr massage (2200THB). The local area is also filled with massage, pedicure and salon options of you're looking for value (300THB for 1hr massage).

Almost all of the staff speaks English and the service is friendly and knowledgeable.

The concierge service sets up at the breakfast buffet each morning to offer activities such as biking, yoga, muay Thai but almost all of these are chargeable. I signed up for complementary beach volleyball and beach soccer the next day but these didn't proceed as there were not enough participants (likely due to low season).

The worst hotel I ve ever been.

The worst hotel I ve ever been.
1. The room is grossly dirty. The bedding smells moldy. And as you can see from the photos, the shower and AC have filth that looks having been let to built up for years.
2. No elevator from reception to our room (or we were not shown one), no one was there to help move our luggages. We lifted our suitcases and went up and down stairs.
3. What s worst- The front desk manger is super rude. We arrived at past 12am midnight and just wanted to get to our beds while he said I will not give you the room and will not allow you to go into the room and asked for another 2000 baht for the extra person (we have 3 people in total.) The truth is I booked a family suite which has a king AND a queen bed but breakfast for two. Any reasonable person would think the room is good for 3 people. We did not intend to have breakfast there and I told them that I am willing to pay the extra breakfast if we do eat there. I also told them we did not want any extra services, just gave us the room and left us alone. We only booked one night to sleep there only because it s close to the airport and we arrived late that night. So we were not going to use any of their pools or anything either (and as a matter of fact we did not). So they just charge me for breathing there? The fact that we arrived so late should have saved them money. Still they refused to give us a room in the mid of the night. In the end I had to pay 1200 baht to beg them to give us room because we were just so exhausted and wanted to sleep (it s 1am in the morning). I wasn t told there would be extra charge for another person when booking, and no one at the front desk was able to show that policy when I demanded to see it. When I tried to get some local tourist office s or police s to help us resolve this, he said you can call, I will not give you the number, find it yourself! I tried to reason with him, and he just ignored me. When I told him he was rude he simply replied I was too! What a service! I just checked on Expedia s website and the same room available on their website clearly says it sleeps 3 people. Please find somewhere else to stay, you don t deserve to be treated like this.

We have been in this hotel since February 28th ......

We have been in this hotel since February 28th .... and yes, the complex is really gorgeous, luxurious and furnished in a unique, extraordinary style, 5 stars
However, the whole beautiful place was overshadowed with a lot of anger and incompetence in the first 2 days.
We had the misfortune to have arrived at noon on the day of arrival with what felt like 3 planes full of stewardesses, and the trainiee at the reception tried with his clumsy friendliness to distract from his ignorance, in which he was helpless in the plan of the hotel (which he apparently the first times in hand) tried to explain the facilities to us in what felt like 10 words in English.
Ok, we then grabbed another lady, from whom we wanted to ask 3 times when our room is ready so that we can survive the very high temperatures in the lobby, if possible to go to the beach or lunch in the meantime ... It was impossible, she was apparently having fun putting us off, or maybe she had just phoned us every time she saw us coming as an alibi.
Then finally our room, a pool villa was ready, the lady from earlier drove us and grabbed another trainiee, who then explained to us clumsy things in the room, how a faucet works BUT NOT where which light switches (pool, outside lighting, etc.) are responsible.
When we opened the balcony door we noticed that it did not close properly, it was then immediately defective, luckily the next day professionally addressed. Thank you!
The outer gate was so warped that I had it in my hand when it was opened .... She said it was ONLY decoration .... I also said how nice a decoration in a 5 star hotel which is broken, not bad either .. .
That evening we had a note on the bed with our departure (although we booked a total of 11 nights, and that was only our arrival day !!)
We call the front desk once again to explain to them that we had booked an extra day directly through the hotel and the other 10 nights through a tour operator.
The game was repeated the next day, of course, when no one came to make our room and then as a bonus our room card no longer worked in the afternoon

Now we hope that the rest of the nights and days will be 5 star service and that we can recommend this beautiful place to our friends.
Since we have already been to Thailand 14 times, we of course know all the little problems and also know that it cannot be compared with a European standard, but common sense and love for the job should be the same all over the world!
We look forward to the next hopefully successful vacation days!

Impressed since entering the hotel. Very good manners Very good service Walking through any person, getting around, smiling with the word Hello / Yes. The beautiful rooms have attention to detail. Each room is beautiful and different.

Very mixed opinion.

Very mixed opinion.
The hotel has a very original decoration for a seaside location. Mixture of plant, exotic wood, cozy atmosphere in the bar ...
It is located 6 minutes from the airport but no noise pollution. To get to the beach you have to cross a small street and deckchairs are chargeable (100BHT).
The bedroom is very spacious with a sitting area. Those on the ground floor are dark and have no view of anything (a bush). The bathroom is not closed and the design of the shower should be reviewed (the handshower is unpleasant to use and there is a curtain !!! for poor hygiene).
Lots of mosquitoes (and even cockroaches in the rooms) even after treatment.
The staff in the restaurants and in the rooms are very friendly and very professional (apart from the one who seems to be the chef at breakfast who says no to everything).
On the other hand, the people who are at the reception are very rude and absolutely not accommodating, commercial. No need to negotiate a late check-out, for example, or try to change rooms.

Great resort, spacious rooms, well equipped and with a modern and original design. The breakfast buffet very complete and with quality products. Such a pleasure for the senses. Really recommendable We were with the family in September 2018.

Stayed at the Slate with my wife for a special birthday treat along with the 2 children (11 and 9). We had a fantastic time, the hotel staff could not have done any more for us, everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Rooms were very stylish in the 'mining' theme and the bed is one of the best hotel beds I've ever slept in!

Food options in the hotel are good, but it's also worth popping out of the hotel into the local restaurants that run along the beachfront - good choice of food options, for both adults and children, and there are a couple of particularly good beach bars/cafes where you can sit drinking a cold beer, with your feet in white fine sand, watching the sun set.

Didn't try the spa, but the gym is great, classes are excellent (I tried yoga for the first time and ended up going back a number of times as the teacher was great, very welcoming and encouraging). The kids really enjoyed classes such a Thai boxing, made even better by the friendliness and encouragement of hotel staff and trainers who ran them.

One last slightly annoying point was that although there are 3 fantastic pools in the hotel, 2 of them have ages restrictions (14+ and 16+) so as a family we were restricted to just the one pool. That being said, the pool we did use was excellent, and there is of course an amazing beach just on your door step!

My favourite resort in Phuket is The Slate. It's only 5 mins drive from the airport. Breakfast spread is very very good. The staff at the breakfast joint always greet you and smiling. They will wish you a good day when you leave. There are lots of restaurants and bars but minus the crowd which I like. My favourite is The Beach Restaurant cos food is good and cheap. Staff services is excellent. Besides they have Happy Hours for beers and cocktails between 5.30pm to 6.30pm and again between 9pm to 10pm. Lots of superbly friendly and well mannered street dogs which is my favourite

Amazing and awesome. Great people with amenities galore. The tea they make with the flowers they grow on the grounds is amazing. Walk into a warm greeting, cool tea, a chilled towel, and it only gets better from there.
