Ian's Pizza on State Review

Ian's is almost always busy, and for good reason. This is some solid pizza by the slice. The Mac n cheezus is a must try.

Pizza was reheated. Plenty of options but not great quality. This would great 1am food when notjoing else is open.

Besides being rudely interrupted by a big fat man asking for money.. I love the pizza that is being passed out to the public.

Great 'by the slice' joint with some most interesting combos. At 2am after being over served I can see this place as a God send.

Do yourself a favor. Pick up a punch card. Once you have a slice, you will want to keep coming back. I don't even LIKE pizza that much, but I love Ian's pizza. Speciality pizza like Mac and cheese is what they are known for. I know it sounds weird, but you have to try it. They also have plainer pizza types like cheese or pepperoni. But the speciality pizza is worth a try. Oh, they also sell salad if you are one of those types.

One of the few places in Madison I brought a friend from NYC for pizza. They were not disappointed. :)

After waiting in a long line for 10 min and not having one single persons order taken, we left. Don't go when they are busy because the line moves incredibly slow and they do not have enough staff to handle the crowd. They probably won't care about a bad review because they have enough college students that go at 2am, but it is not acceptable to wait in a line for 10 min and not have a single order taken.

Not that it needs another 5 star review, but this is some of the best pizza by the slice of all time. A good balance of classic toppings combined with unique pizzas facilitates tastebud arousal. Lightly crisp crust is the perfect touch. Beer on tap would be a nice addition.

Ian's pizza is by far the best ready to eat pizza by the slice place you will ever visit. They have any kind of pizza you can imagine and they will make it if they don't have it. If you can you need to visit Ian's and try a slice or two along with some of their breadsticks! Get some!

Ian's Pizza is a great place before or after the bar scene. They have very unique pizza assortments, so that I have never heard of before, like Mac 'n Cheese on a pizza. They always heat up their pizza in a true brick oven which adds to the deliciousness of the pizza. A must go-to when in Madison.

I had no idea what I was getting into. I checked into my hotel late at night, I figured it was too late to find a normal restaurant, so I looked up pizza. I ordered spicy chicken quesadilla pizza, expecting it to have Q ingredients sprinkled on top like any other cheap pizza place with similarly named pizzas. No... they fold the stuff in between layers of pizza crust. And it's delicious. This is the best (and most!) pizza I've ever bought for $11. Great find.

Really good pizza place with some different options compared to what you'll usually get at other pizza places.

Perfect for late night drunk munchies. Tons of wacky toppings to choose from. I went with the old standard of pepperoni but would like to try Mac and cheese next time.

There is usually a vegan pizza that you can order by the slice, or make your own. Plus Ian's cares about local - make sure to check out their local ingredients board.

I tried the Chicago Dog pizza. It actually wasn't to bad. Can't beat the price for amount of pizza you get.

Try the barbecue chicken or the macaroni pizzas - favorites that won't let you down! Excellent location right across from the capitol building.

Yum! You can never go wrong with any of the pizza choices. I also enjoyed my side house salad. They even have desserts such as puppy chow (a portion of which $ is donated to the humane society) and ice cream. Sit outside on nice days for a great view of the capitol.

Best pizza by the slice. Period. Eaten at Ian's over 50 times. Excellent- every time. Lunch, Dinner, Late night. Every Time.

Never had the pizza. But I got a Greek, er, "Mediterranean" salad from here about once a month for a while. It was a little pricey, but very good.

this establishment has good vegan pizza. actually they have amazing vegan pizza. the staff is kind and helpful. I recommend their vegan cheese and pepperoni, definitely some of the best I've ever had. also recommend their vegan pesto tomato. that pizza gives me liifffee

Love the different flavor pizzas. Mac n cheese is a staple, but I like to try to new pizzas of the month. I remember one that had black beans, avocado, tomatoes, and feta that was particularly good.

Great pizza, by the slice, or the pie. They also have salads, but I didn't try those. I did see a lot of them going out. Nice sidewalk seating with a view of the Capitol. Only soft drinks are served, both Coke and Pepsi products. Friendly service even though they were swamped the whole day because the Ironman route went past here 4 times on the run portion.

The most unusual pizza options you will ever encounter. Get the mac and cheese, you won't be sorry. By the slice or whole pie. It's a Madison classic and wildly popular, yet there is almost always a place to sit. They have salads too, but really, you'll want to try the pizza.

Their vegan pizza with daiya cheese is incredible! Great customer service as well.

Love the pizza here. Always busy but never a long wait for food. Upbeat staff and great atmosphere. I like that they are right off of state. The slices are big! Don't let that stop you. It's so good you'll devour the whole thing and come back for more!

Ian's Pizza Downtown Madison has plenty of room to hang out and enjoy some great pizza after venturing around the area of the states capitol.

Amazing specialty pizzas. The mac n' cheese is delicious, and the smokey the bandit is another favorite. Their salads are loaded with the toppings you pick and the ingredients are always fresh.

Probably the best place in town to grab a slice. They have slices with traditional toppings but the specialty slices are what make Ian's so popular. The crust is also worth mentioning because it alone is worth going for.

They do have good pizzas but not all of them are equally good. The names are hard to remember as there are so many options, but we ordered a lot of food. Salad was okay, nothing great about it. The pizza with bacon, ham, banana peppers, onions was way too greasey with a soggy base. The Mexican style with chorizo was good and the base was decent and not soggy. I didn't try the Mac n cheese pizza. Maybe next time. Overall a decent place if you are in the mood for a quick unhealthy bite of a pizza.

This place is incredible. The salads you can build are amazing. You can add walnuts, cheeses, olives, chicken, egg, tons of different veggies... basically whatever you want.

The pizza selections are delicious. If you're going to indulge in some pizza in Madison, WI, this is the place to do it. Basil pesto pizza, cheeseburger pizza with the pickles, cheese ravioli pizza, mac & cheese pizza, BBQ chicken pizza, and a lot more.

Right in the downtown area, lot of people walking around when the weather's nice, good vibes and chill music. It's great feel where trendy meets vintage in perfect harmony.

Nice local pizza place! Very clean and appealing atmosphere, slices are large and a wide variety of toppings are offered. Staff is very friendly and service is quick.

I'm not only a member, I'm also a client. Great pizza and service. I've been eating here for 15 years and counting. Lots of rotating variety and classic pies. Salad bar is amazing too. Farmer's market produce and over two dozen topping options.
