We loved our stay! The resort has a great set of pools and a few water slides, but the view is what makes this resort - it is incredible! We had an ocean front room (1616) and it was fantastic. Loved over the pool and had direct views to the Pacific. This is my wife and my happy place.

The only reason I am giving this place a 2 star review is because of the manager Tyler. If you are looking for an ideal honeymoon experience do not stay at this hotel. The rooms have not been updated since 1980 and our room was muggy and dirty upon arrival. This is a really family driven hotel There are kids EVERYWHERE. Our room was located on the 4th floor with a "partial ocean view". This meant we were looking down on the kiddie pool and had to stretch our bodies over the balcony to see the ocean. The pool is open 24 hours so we had kids in the pool till 1am screaming and splashing making it impossible to sleep.when we complained to our travel agent the manager Tyler was more than accommodating and had our room switched to a full ocean view but we had to down grade to 2 queen beds instead of a king. Fine. However we were promised a refurbished room that was much more updated. This was not the case. The room was exactly the same In all we wound up leaving the hotel and Tyler was extremely accommodating and allowed a refund. The food on site is sub par and over priced and lacks quality. We enjoyed Japengos on our last night though. Another thing to add is there is little to no beach here. Also the gym is really small and we wound up working our on the RCL the full amount of time we were there. In all we wound up leaving and switching hotels. We stayed at a beautiful quality hotel with great food service and updated rooms and paid the same price. This place is not worth the money you pay especially for the Hyatt name.
Rooms are out dated and dirty. Stains on carpet and couches. Bathroom filthy with mold and dirty shower curtain. Room overall dilapidated and outdated. Way overpriced for what you get. If you care about cleanliness, beware. *this place charged my cc twice upon checkout* beware
Everything you would hope a Hawaiian resort to be! Beautiful views, right on the ocean, delicious restaurants at island comparable prices, wonderful housekeeping staff, superb groundskeeping crew, so many top notch activities there's no reason to leave. Everyday is a good weather day because there's always something fun to do and the rain doesn't last. Hula, lei & bracelet making lessons. Tennis & basketball. Umalu restaurant deliveries yummy afternoon meals and drinks- go see Bob in the Grotto to feel like a rock star & Ashley at tables to help you pick the perfect meal for you. Japengo lounge at sunset with live music is the ideal way to ease into the night. Wonderful happy hour specials for lunch and dinner. Each restaurant was a delight: Swan Court for breakfast buffet and Sonz Steakhouse for a memorable dinner. For my husband's birthday they delivered a beautiful towel cake with orchid decorations. All the staff are so accommodating and wonderfully friendly. Easy parking valet or self-care. Concierge helpful in making any island reservations. Truly an experience to last a life time! Aloha
The location is really stunning and beautiful right on the beach with a view of two islands and the mountains in the background. It's hard to find a prettier place to be. The rooms are nice and very clean good amenities as well. The staff was all very accommodating, friendly, prompt and professional.
Came here for the drums of the Pacific luau and it was an exceptional experience. There was a great emcee. Delicious buffet with all the workings and an open bar. A very open bar. Ask and yee shall receive. The performance itself was well done and entertaining. It was a tour of the different styles of dance from across Polynesia. Would do again!
Very nice resort with great views of mountains and ocean. Beach is great for snorkeling but to rocky to swim. Hotel is beautiful but could use a face lift. Staff is very accommodating. Glad we stayed here.
The staff are very attentive. I mean, it is a resort. The pools are nice and the beach is clean and easily accessed. There is some attention paid to making the place more sustainable, which is a plus. The rooms are a little dated but perfectly clean and comfortable. Anything you need is available, usually for a fee. The wait for the breakfast buffet next door can be excruciatingly long so plan accordingly. Go early. As pleasant and relaxing as it is it all feels like a front for their time share condos/ vacation club (which has a property attached). There are sales agents trying to snag you around every corner, they leave a voicemail at your room. It's enough, already. It feels like they don't value your business as a simple resort customer.
The only reason we were on the property was to see the penguins. The feeding time everyday is 9:30am and one of my kids just loves penguins. It's a small exhibit just beyond the main entrance. It's very clean and the penguins are very well cared for. As a matter of fact one of the penguins is 30 yrs old when normally in the wild they don't live beyond 20. The penguins are very accessible and the closest we've ever been. We did walk the grounds and the hotel is very nice. The pool is very nice with a cool swim up bar. Plenty of water ways that end in slides, caves and kid areas.
Old carpet and furniture. Not too clean but staff are very nice and the ocean is right in front. Nice to have a grocery store and Macy's inside the hotel.
Everything from the arrival, checkin and concierge to the room, amenities and view were too notch here. Breakfast daily set us off on a perfect start to each excursion and the staff offered just the right amount of advise and direction so as to help but not steer our decisions too much. We enjoyed being towards the end of all the ocean front hotel businesses and would say this place was more desireable as a result of its location. The courtyard is so tranquil that even being is de was a treat. Loved the shopping area not because we bought and shopped much at all but because it was like being in a small getaway community. Would definitely return.
A lovely, spacious resort, and one of just two Hyatt properties (the other being the Grand Hyatt on Kauai) that feature wildlife -- here, the African penguins in the lobby atrium are definitely the stars. The penguins are fed each morning at 9:30, so stop by (and bring your kids, so they can help feed the koi fish as well).
The hotel is really nice and has a super good ocean view. They have these tents that you can rent and the food is super good. The bad thing is, the WiFi is really slow and they are kind of pricy but they re rooms are good.
What can I say? Booked the vacation through Costco Travel, pre paid and stayed for a week. The room I selected was to be a partial "ocean veiw" room, it turned out to be a "full highway" view. When brought to the attention of the front desk, we were told that it is an ocean view. I guess you can see water it if you lean over the rail of the tiny balcony. The included breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. Regularly priced at $32, I would be outraged at the lack of quality and variety if I were to pay full price. I am not unfamiliar with resort vacations, and understand that to experience most services, it will cost money. I've not ever received so little value for my money as I have here. Drink service was slow and infrequent poolside, the vallet service was slow and inconvenient. Housekeeping provided service, even when refused. The rental rate for a paddle board exceeds the hourly pay of most college educated Americans, $55 an hour.
Highlights. The front desk staff were helpful upon check in and check out. The food at the restaurants, other than the breakfast buffet, was high quality despite high resort pricing. There are some prime snorkeling spots within walking distance.
Arrived from plane to hyatt early at 1:30, did not get our room till 4pm. Booked room in October and requested a renovated room. Got into our room and stain on carpet partial view of ocean is non existence. Does not feel clean.if I could move to a different resort I would. So disappointed in Hyatt
Amazing resort. Food and beverages were amazing - 5 stars with locally sourced ingredients and modern menu with the hippest drinks. Tried the poke , shrimp ceviche and salad. All three were great but especially the salad as it was hard to find good, quality salads in Maui. Cocktails were gratefully made with lots of mai tai options. Cabana rental on the ocean is grade A with great customer service at the ready.
Enjoyed the stay in our mountain view room #1734. Pretty beautiful sight from the 17th floor and there was also partial ocean view visible from our room. Pool is open 24 hours which will be right in-front of the beach. There are two restaurants / sports bar near pool. Room service and the staff were courteous and are welcoming. I requested honeymoon package as a special request but they didn t do anything special for the room. They should have rather omitted that option while booking. For car parking, I chose valet service ($32) and I believe it was the best option instead of regular parking ($22) where you need to find the slots yourself and walk to motel from parking lot which is far. The motel was and about 4 miles drive from Front St, where you find all the water sport activities like snorkeling, scuba diving and dinner cruise during sunset on the pacific ocean.
Amazing views, staff so helpful. Rooms clean, supplies refilled regularly. Awesome, awesome hotel. And it's Maui. How could you go wrong. Strongly recommend!! ,
We've been staying at the Hyatt in Maui 3 years in a row. We love the location (relatively on the quiet side) and service. Also, who doesn't love seeing the birds and penguins!? The resort being a resort is on the pricy side and be aware of all of the little fees that are not included with the original reservation.
Pro tip: snorkeling is great at this area, we saw a bunch of sea turtles each day we went out!
A wonderful experience with spacious rooms, great settings, and top notch service. Not cheap by any measure but considering the experience a stay here will highlight your stay on this beautiful island. The wildlife especially the birds adds to the magic of this tropical wonderland.
Beautiful beach and we had an updated room in the Lahaina building. We here the rooms in the other wing were not as nice. They have fun shops and even a small Macy's where i purchased flip flops. The luau was a little too commercial and not worth full price at all. The new rooms are well appointed and i like having a fridge. Lei greeting upon welcome was a nice touch. Make sure you get new wing or you might regret it!!
Nice property and location, nice ocean views. Close to Whaler's shopping center. Over all the property is clean, helpful and nice staff, common outside areas clean and well kept. Rating this property 4 and not 5 because the rooms and room decor looks dated, like, from the 80s maybe 90s. Convenient location to see the Luau show they have every night.
Beware of the free breakfast. When we checked in, we were told we got 2 free breakfast everyday. We thought that was great. When checking out, they denied making that offer. The hotel buffet was $32. We only ate there because of complimentary offer. So we got stuck with over $300 in food cost. Nobody pays $64 for 2 people to eat eggs and bacon, ridiculous. It totally spoiled me as i checked out.
What more can I say it has the name Hyatt Regency. Only the best for the best. Thank you Hyatt for making my experience a pleasurable one. Your staff and accommodations are elegant and I will never forget my visit there.
My wife and I were about to have dinner on our balcony but we waited almost two hours for guest services to bring us a set of silverware and wine glasses. We sat around waiting to eat our dinner and guest services had zero sense of urgency. I had to call them 4 times asking if someone was on the way and all I was told was, I m sorry, let me find out. After waiting almost two hours, someone finally showed up and all he said was i m sorry. It made no sense why you would treat your guests this way. I ve never had such a poor customer service. Besides guest services ruining our evening and wasting our time, the beach is nice here and the location is great. As for guest services, we were extremely disappointed.
Went here to chaperone a prom for my school. Accommodations were wonderful. I even forgot my jacket and they offered to mail it to me free of charge. Very nice hotel.
