South end of the beach, kids loved the water slides. Pools are nice, a bit crowded during Christmas break. Self park is crowded during Luau, so time your parking accordingly, unless you valet. Japengo is awesome, prepare for spendy hotel prices. Staff was friendly. Will definitely return to this place.

It's great for families. Tons of pools, great beach. Rooms are fine - a little dated but in good shape. Price is very fair.

It's in a very convenient location, the common grounds are really nice. It's well cared for.

Downs - everything costs extra. Not uncommon, but annoying still. It seems as almost everything about it is setup to sell timeshares. Like, everything, everywhere. It wasn't great.

I wouldn't go for a romantic getaway, but would definitely take kids here.

Visited the Hyatt Regency Maui for our honeymoon and were blown away by the resort amenities and the level of service provided during our entire stay. We were able to check in early where they upgraded us to an oceanfront room in their newly renovated portion of the hotel. The front desk had pre arranged a bottle of champagne, chocolates, fruit and a handwritten card to be placed in the room along with flower petals all over the bed! This property has an award winning asian cuisine restaurant named Japengo that was absolutely phenomenal along with other restaurants and bars throughout the resort. Easy beach access out the back of the hotel and to a boardwalk that leads you down to various restaurants and shops. Spacious pool and jacuzzi. Shops inside of the hotel where you can buy souvenirs/clothes/art. The hotel also offers a traditional Lu'au every day that I highly recommend as well; great food, unlimited drinks, and an experience unlike any other. This hotel is in a perfect location to explore outside of the resort area being that it was a short drive from Iao Valley State Park, the Western coast of Maui where there are tons of different beaches and hikes and downtown Lahaina. Cliff jumping and great snorkeling only a mile away at Black Rock Beach (you can walk there). As a hospitality employee, this hotel does everything the right way. They truly put the guest first and will go above and beyond in all aspects to make sure your stay is memorable. A big thank you to the GM Fred and the rest of the Hyatt employees who made our stay perfect. We will be back!

Warning do not stay at this hotel what they do short of criminal they charge credit cards that we didn't even give them or authorized the manager was was very stress full and unprofessional and accommodating

First room we were placed in had mold growing in it and it smelled like we were sleeping in a basement. We were told before we got to it that it was a great room with easy wait to the pool with no elevator needed. Not true. We called and asked for a new room and we're told the only room available would be an extra $120 a night for the remaining 7 night but that they would do us a deal and give it for $90. Room had a great view but the wallpaper was coming off the walls and there were cockroaches in it throughout our stay. Hyatt, you should be ashamed. There are much nicer hotels in the area with newer, cleaner rooms. We will be starting at the Marriott or Westin going forward.

Gorgeous setting. Beautiful staff. Friendly and helpful. We are blown away by this property. Some wear and tear, but expected. So cool to have completely open-air. Love it here.

Fabulous resort, beautiful grounds and buildings. Rooms have every amenity possible and all the comforts of home. Location is fantastic, beautiful pools and the beach is right there. Also had the pleasure of attending a luau here, the performance and service was top notch. Looking forward to returning.

Beatufiul resort, but very pricey for the drinks and food in the resort though. A ton of pools to choose from. Also, the beach is crystal clear but also very Rocky behind the resort. If you are brave enough there is a huge cliff you can jump off of at the beach.

Amazing view and services. There is everyday sport activity, nice pool service (with Lava Flow cocktail :) and caring staff. The gardens are full of small geckos, plumeria - and banana trees.

Overall we had a wonderful time staying here at the Hyatt regency. The pools were wonderful, staff great, the few restaurants were good , not great and not bad. The lobby was spectacular but our room was ok. Little dated, but it did the job. Beach access was very easy, but have to say allowing a little kids in alone in the water, is a no go. I would definitely return to the Hyatt Regency if we return to Maui

The rooms are getting a little dated...however the pool and grounds are great...the beach isn't the best...but works.....also recommend going to other restaurants than the properties....overall we loved this place and had a great time here..

WOW! They made our honeymoon feel so special! From the lei greeting at check-in to the GORGEOUS view from our room, this resort was like heaven on earth. The pool is awesome, the location is awesome, can't recommend enough! So happy we stayed here!

Excellent resort. The views were breathtaking. Everything from the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out was spot on. Wonderful staff, great rooms, overall no complaints. Will definitely stay there next time I'm visiting Maui.

This Hyatt is the greatest of all. Excellent breakfast meals.

Great family fun resort with lots of activities. Beach is a little rocky and would be nice if it had a little more sand. However the view and staff is fully 5 stars... this area is lively and relaxing at the same time. Have been to hawaii 8 times and My personal favorite. Drove to hana is a must but remember to start very early. Took us 13 hours round trip.. worth it though

Nice older property with adequate amenities in a great location. Staff was superb. On site restaurants were actually quite good and not overly priced. Overall, a good experience.

2nd Nov 2017........ stayed at Hyatt Regency Maui for a short break. Staff are polite and helpful, plenty of places to see and do, beautiful/interesting landscape, choice of pool and beach, clean generally except the ducks mess on the walk ways.
I have recommended this hotel already and will continue to do so. The highlight of our stay is the LUAU....

Been to a handful of top hotels in Maui. This is luxury without arrogance. This is the best one!
Amazing facilities, great breakfast, and the kindest staff.
Note: ensure you try the biggest pool slide, I think it s made for adults... really fun!

My wife and I went there for our honeymoon and were upgraded to a deluxe room. Very nice resort right on the beach with great amenities included.

Amazing resort on a beautiful beach. One of the nicest and most well kept pools on the island. Overall lots to do at this resort and a short drive to all the main attractions on Maui. Only downfall is the beach: very rocky and little sand to relax on.

Very disappointed! I would compare this place to a Comfort Inn. Our room had not been updated since the Brady Bunch stayed here.

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful hotel, pool, fantastic pool-side restaurant, excellent kids club, and a modern gym right on the ocean.

Visited "Drums of the Pacific" with the wife. Had to walk a bit due to being a few minutes late. Paid for standard tickets and didn't see much of a benefit to do otherwise. Staff was pleasant. Way to costly for two people for a night out. $238 total. Was still a good date night.

This place is great!!! We have never considered ourselves as resort type of people. We have always tried to avoid the larger all in one places when we travel. And, we always use local vendors when possible. This place has everything you need, but it is still close enough to go out shopping the local area.

This hotel is beautiful, the Luau is amazing and the rooms are very comfortable! I enjoyed the service and live music along with delicous Sushi at Japengo! Check it out when your in Kaanapali! Happy eating and entertainment! Aloha...Me

Another great resort on Maui. Upon check-in we were upgraded to an ocean view room. While we were out getting some food we came back to our room to stuffed penguins for the kids, cookies and milk and a beautiful cheese and cracker platter for us. They even had local cheese from the goat creamery in upcountry. Very nice touch!! My kids loved all the birds on property but most of all the PENGUINS! So unique! The pools are great for kids and love this location with its proximity to Whalers Village.

Great place to stay for families and couples. Amazing views for the ocean. The staff was friendly and kind. The food and drinks were expensive but that is expected at a resort. Shopping area is about 1 mile walk from the resort. Fitness room was spacious. Multiple pools on the property including a hot tub.

Right on the beach this hotel was just right. The staff are all very helpful. It is an easy drive to town. We really enjoyed the tiki bar poolside.

If anyone out there is looking for deals for hotels and resorts browse through . reserved a hotel on there and these guys had the absolute best rates worldwide!

Beautiful resort with so many things to do. Beaches, pools, luau, fitness center, breakfast buffet, and lots of restaurants without walking distance or by hourly trolley.

This place is so amazing! The view was beautiful and the rooms were amazing. So clean and the staff was super nice! Perfect pool for kids and amazing bars for the adults. I will definitely come again!

An awesome resort, loved the views, the beach, pool, shops, friendly staff, had everything one needs. Amenities were great. The room was huge with closet but the only issue was the rooms need to be updated they are pretty old and it said beach view which was partial the rest was just solar panels , buffet was not bad but most of the stuff was repeated daily had a good vegetarian option .

This resort is fantastic. It has a central open air garden. The rooms are spacious and nice. Large bathroom/dressing air and walk-in closet. Definitely do the club level access and request a high floor for the best views. The staff is very friendly. This is probably one of my favorite resorts among all the traveling that I have done. They have multiple pools and lots of restaurants, as well as lots of cool shops. There is even a small Macy s!

They have the most amazing show. What an experience. My 6 year old loved it. Thanks Hyatt Regency for the memories.

Be warned..... the hotel takes of US$100 per day incidentals without authority!!! When approached Shelby the Manager was blown off.... very poor customer service. Ridiculously expensive and not of what we would class this hotel as 3.5*.

Great experience here. Was upgraded to an ocean view room at no charge and the staff was very helpful anytime we needed anything. Hotel has great amenities. Multiple pools, several places to shop, and many different activities offered by the hotel. Also great location on Kaanapali and near Lahaina.

Big, great, and comfortable place. Food was awesome. Needs more attractions, though. More pools are needed. The drink-up bar should be Kid-friendly with smoothies. Overall, great with smoothies!

My family and I have stayed at various hotels on Maui. We ve stayed at the Ritz and Montage in Kapalua and also the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea in Wailea. For the money and location, the Hyatt remains the best value. Many of the rooms have been updated and the proximity to restaurants and downtown Lahaina can t be beat. The awesome pool, water activities and beach are huge pluses as well. It can be a bit crowded on spring break so I wouldn t recommend for a honeymoon but for having fun and with kids, this is the place to go.

This is an amazing resort located in Kaanapali on Maui. The Hyatt customer service is top notch!! They always know how to treat their guests. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite overlooking the ocean. The view was amazing and the rooms are all very modern. The resort features many pools, restaurants and even shopping. Hyatt is truly the best hotel and resort chain. I absolutely recommend this resort!!

Great hotel with friendly staff. Incredible views around every corner and nice resteraunts on site. Only downside is the price of parking considering the distance from hotel and size of parking bays, Far too small for cars to safely park close to one another without causing damage trying to get in and out.

Need a car in Maui doesn't matter the location. But it has immediate beach access and food are good. Room is clean but a bit dated.

Convenient location with great pools and an Ululani shave ice location on site! We spent most of our time in the pools but the beaches you have access to are also great and it's located along a trail that connects all the hotels in the area. It's also a quick drive to Downtown Lahaina which is convenient for shopping or dining. The only downside is that we didn't think the food available for kid friendly takeout or room service was very good so we had to drive out to get a decent meal

Wonderful place to stay. We had a fantastic view from our room. Room is dated but adequate.

Friendly staff, great restaurants, beautiful gardens and lay out. Beach was under restoration so limited access right in front. Not enough pool seating, despite signs saying people cannot claim seating, nearly all seats taken by 9am every day. Weddings hosted on weekends means insanely obnoxious music and DJ blasting.

Amazing. Event if you aren t staying here come and experience the magic of this hotel. There are animals and amazing pools to wander through.

If you re looking for a once in a lifetime vacation resort this might be it.

Such a beautiful resort. We stayed here for two nights but wished we had more time. The grounds are very well kept and the pool was fun. I like to keep active and the basketball hoop was my favorite when at the pool. The surrounding area is perfect for a nice jog on the beach or a walk to Whalers Village. Really enjoyed our stay and we look forward to coming back again.

We loved our stay at the Hyatt. Upon checkin, we each received a lei (even at 11:30 at night). We had an ocean view room which we were able to see whales from the balcony! The room was a bit dated, but it didn t bother me. Great location, within walking distance to whalers village and black rock beach. Food options at the hotel were really good as well. The pool and hot tub were also very nice, with a few waterfalls that you could swim under. There are penguins in the lobby as well as a few birds. Luna the bird is very talkative!

We had ocean view room and the view was amazing. The room was good and nicely maintained and clean. The furniture colors were mostly on the neutral brown, and didn t give me that hawaiin feel. The sliding doors to the balcony how ever made up for it. Nice clear blue sky, palm trees and the sound of the waves crashing into the shore was calming.
I love how the staff was soo accommodating. From the front receiving area, to the dining areas and poolside staff.
The staff at the Swans restaurant were amazing. Ludi, Fretzie, Elena, ernesta and maryane just to name a few,were very attentive to all of their guests needs and Wears a smile always.

I like to stay here. it has nice view and it has nice swimming pool. the beach is also very nice.
The restaurant was also ok.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to shops near Whaler Village, close to the beach, and has very nice shops at the hotel itself. I did not stay at the hotel myself, though I attended the luau that is at the hotel. The employees at the hotel seemed very nice and helpful.

Beautiful views. Rooms are a little dated. Over priced. Trying to reserve a tour or event during the Christmas week forget it. Couldn t even get in for the Christmas Eve brunch trying a week in advance. I feel the customers that are paying a premium price for their rooms should at least have some kind of advantage. Bathroom fan didn t work and despite complaints didn t get fixed.

Nice resort. Friendly staff. Right on the beach. Pool is nice. Beach is a bit small but you can walk north a bit if you want. Beautiful sunsets. Walk to Whalers village in about 15 minutes.

I'm giving this resort 5 stars as the employees deserve the stars and a raise! From the minute I checked in being presented with the most beautiful lei I knew this resort truly cared about making their guests happy.

To be honest, the rooms are very dated - popcorn ceilings, old carpeting, etc. However, they are updating the entire resort. It is huge and will take some time, so please ask about the progress if you will be staying there. If you do stay in an oceanfront room, the view couldn't get better. You can hear sound of the waves if you leave the door open.
I had a few room problems, but they were taken care of swiftly and professionally while making me feel like I was the only guest.

It was my first time in Maui and I went to re-group after a very challenging few months. Sitchi was in charge and went above and beyond along with her staff making sure I had the best week of re-grouping a person could ask for! The housekeeping staff knew I had lost a loved one and went out of their way to write a beautiful card and present me with bowl of orchids to scatter as is the custom in Hawaii. Talk about tears! I am and will always be grateful from the bottom of my heart! Thank you.

P.S. If you go - do yourself a favor and sign up for the Sunrise Tour to Haleakala. An experience of a lifetime!

The staff here is only interested in stopping visitors passing by the lobby and inducing them to sign up for their timeshare promotions in return of promises for exciting gifts being given. However they never give such gifts. Further, one of their Receptionist and Manager who handles timeshare dealings were really rude to us. Would never recommend staying in this property.

Great resort. Very friendly staff, great pools and location. Food and prices left a little to be desired. Corie at the front desk was super friendly and made our day! Thanks for a great stay!

This resort is absolutely amazing with the views, ambiance, and over all amenities. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay, only con: I wish they offered shuttle services to the local area instead of having to call a taxi. Otherwise, amazing hotel! PS there are penguins in the lobby

Solid four stars. The hotel is next to a cluster of other hotels and has beach access with a little walk. Beautiful location. Not too far from other activities, unless your going to drive the road to Hana. If you're going to take that drive be sure to leave uber early. The hotel has room service and a couple of restaurants downstairs. The hotel has a luau and it's a great show to attend. The food is decent. Check in was fairly quick for us and our bellman was a cool dude. We had a semi beach view room which was okay. The rooms were great and the ameneties were fairly decent. It's next to a lot of shopping as well. My suggestion is to hit up Costco on the way in from the airport so you have your own waters and sodas. If not, the ABC store has decent pricing for a tourist destination. Live it up here.

Very enjoyable stay. They also have locker rooms by the pool, if you arrive early and there is no room available yet for check in. This means you can drop your bags and then go to the pool

Staff rescued the wedding day with a last minute venue change due to poor weather at different beach site. Very accommodating. Wonderful facility with great views. The people here work hard to earn your business. Nothing beats listening to the ocean while you fall asleep.

So beautiful! The staff are amazing! Answer any and all questions. One of the staff was born and raised here in Maui so he gave us the scoop of what to do and what not to do. We'll be coming back here in the future.

Really love the grounds here. Everything feels like you would hope a tropical resort would. Any amenities you could ask for are right at hand.

From the minute we arrived it was amazing! We were checked in by Reyna F. she treated us like family. The resort was paradise! I loved that it was super family friendly our little girl had just as much fun as mom and dad.

SECURITY..........
Stay at the Hyatt often, due to the beauty and pool bars. My last stay was not so enjoyable due to my Yeti ice chests getting stolen in there parking lot. The yetis were bolted down and chained to the back of my jeep. I got the security involved and it so happens the guest parking is the only place they do not have cameras. What!!!!!!!!!!

The security guard in charge told me and I quote " that is why you shouldn't buy nice coolers"
I have waited to hear back from the Hyatt with any news or response to what happen. Hyatt step up the security. I honestly believe it was someone that works there knowing it is the only spot without cameras. It would have taken bolt cutters and a saw to remove those 500$ yetis.

Opulent without being tacky. This hotel has very friendly staff and spectacular grounds. The rooms are in need of a refresh but they are very clean and obviously well maintained. I loved having a lanai and the walk in closet was an unexpected surprise. The a/c functioned quite well (something quite important in Hawaii and almost never reviewed). Very good restaurants on property. We will stay here again for sure.

Absolutely beautiful facility! The water temperature of the pools is just right! Not too cold and not too warm. I have found the water temperature of public pools here in California to be a little too cold at times, even in 90 and 100 degree weather. I loved the convenient access to the beach!Loved the vast variety of food at the breakfast buffet as well! The buffets at most classic hotels in California don't offer anywhere near as much anymore. I miss this place so much!

The hotel and service is amazing!! Loved that it was so close to the beach as well! The rooms are also very very nice! Overall I really recommend this hotel!!

You get what you pay for, but dont come crying to me asking why you basically have a 2nd college tuition loan

Giving this hotel 4 stars because as a hotel, that s what it deserves. In terms of the room you get for what price, it s not really worth the 500$ avg/night because it s a standard room, nothing special. The beach is small, good enough for laying around, not swimming, and dining/bars on site are great. Pools are great, and you re welcome to use the residency club pools as well. Honest opinion? Westin 1 mike down the beach is a way better bang for your buck, that s where we walked everyday to hang out on the beach and that s where I ve always stayed. The people at the Hyatt are great and courteous though.

Beautiful resort. Top notch service, with a great pool area (regular and a fun one for kids), lots of stores and restaurants, and direct access to the beach. They also offer valet service for parking. Couldn't recommend more.

It was okay. Air conditioning was finicky in the room. Pool was great but good luck finding a spot. People with infimt kids they let "do whatever" are....annoying. Great pool with beach access. Parking is a chore, spots are the size of smart cars. Liked our stay, would consider staying again if we stayed in a hotel but if we ever came back we might choose a condo.

The restaurants were very overpriced and food was average. We had our best dinners walking to whalers village (.5 mile Beach Walk) and eating there.

Beautiful hotel and the staff is wonderful! Great breakfast buffet in the mornings! Especially loved the happy hour at Sonz Steakhouse within the hotel! The pools and grounds are beautiful! The Drums of The Pacific Luau was entertaining. Our room was nice, although the bed was not comfortable. The humidity makes it a little uncomfortable but the scenery is gorgeous!!

Way too many sales people pushing timeshares. Was promised a free snorkel trip plus a luau for a 90 minute tour. Got there and was told it was the trip or the luau - not both. Bait and switch? Not worth it! I'm sure the "90" minutes would have been high pressure. We skipped it. Now we have to run the gauntlet of friendly sales reps trying to insnare us every time we leave the room. Not great.

Absolutely stunning atmosphere. Staff are ridiculously kind and thoughtful. The views are forever breathtaking. I never thought I would want to return to a place I had already been before on vacation. I simply love planning my year wait each time I leave Maui. It s well worth the wait my friends.. I simply can t say enough.

Great location and perfect views. We have stayed here twice and it's been very good each time.

The luau was exceptionally beautiful. All the staff where extremely professional and courteous, and the location is beautiful. The event was well done and the host had a wonderful speaking voice. All the dancers where wonderful and the fire dance was breath taking. The addition of local craft displays made the event a must see.
