It was Octoberfest.
Nice place to relax.
I think it will be good place for ski.

Vale buying Hunter Mountain Resort was a big disaster. Mountain has been closed the last few days despite prime snow conditions. If you have tickets or season pass, you are out of luck. And that is just the latest in a series of problems with their website, passes, reimbursements, etc.

Nice day at the slopes, good time at the bar allways friendly people to meet for a good conversation, been going to hunter mountain for over 35 years in my opinion one of the best place near the metropolitan area.

Outstanding place for skiing, fall colors(Octoberfest), also summer for the events they host. The lodging gets full early so book early. Food options aplenty in the lodge and outside. Location is great. Price is right since there are many lodging options as well.

Great facilities and a nice mix of beginner and more advanced runs. The make their own snow to work to keep as many runs open as possible. The mountain is not lit so the lifts stop running at 4pm and no night skiing is available. Overall a quiet mountain during the week days.

I had a great time at hunter mountain skiing and enjoying the amenities. The staff was very friendly and the service was great! The best part is it's so close to NYC. I would definately recommend it.

Excellent snow making in the face of poor natural conditions! Mountain is diverse with many interesting trails. Convenient lodge with many amenities. This was my first time back in over 20 years and it's an exciting place to ski.

Mehhh, feels like skiing in central park. Over crowded, forget finding a table to actually eat lunch, staff is mostly annoyed probably from dealing with rude and inconsiderate city folk. Just be nice everyone, it's skiing

An excellent spot for 1 day trip from New York. Only two hours of drive and you have mountain, dew fast slopes and feeling of getting out for ski or snowboard. Good infrastructure, for not so big money you pay

We slept in hunter overnight just so we can enjoy the snow tubing next day with the little kids. We drove down to resort all hyped for the trip, it was such a letdown to see the tubing was closed. It was a regular Monday, there was no reason to suspect that there is no tubing today. As the biggest ski resort in NY no one in our group suspected they'd be closed, and we were all shocked. Furthermore, all the locals in the area told us they're open today. And their website itself is very misleading! There is almost no indication on that page that it's open for the weekends ONLY (besides for presidents week which hours they proudly post on their website). Very disappointed with this place! It's a shame I can't do zero star, because this is how I feel right now about this wretched place.

The priority of the staff on this mountain is strictly ski school, meaning you may stand in a lift line for almost 20+ minutes with no alternating lane merge. I understand that ski schools have a certain level of priority on the lanes, but holding lift lines completely still for that long is not fair to other patrons. When I approached the staff to ask politely as to why the line was not run fairly between all lanes I was threatened by the staff member that I would be removed from the park with my life ticket voided for the day. The mountain has a few good runs, but overall management needs improvement.

Hunter Mountain is a great Ski Resort and also host tons of events. I come up once or twice a year and every year it gets better. Awesome view if you get to the very top of the mountain. Staff is cool. Food is great. Make sure you bring a camera.

Mountain Jam! What a time - went for Tom Petty & Heart breakers - incredible show - plenty of room to house loads of people! Food vendor pricing on the upper end with a lot of variety of food types.

Visited this summer to do the zip line but we neglected to buy tickets early so it was booked for the day. Go on their website to reserve your time and tickets. We ended up taking the chairlift to the top. Beautiful! There was so much to do on the top. Bring a picnic and wine. Plan to spend time up there. Don t miss the Rip Van Winkle sculpture that took the artist 5 years to carve. Try to find the hidden animals in the carving. The staff was very helpful and friendly everywhere we turned. **The man in the picture almost convinced me he was the sculptor**

Been skiing here and other places for many years. Something has changed. Not as laid back, free spirited and fun anymore. Yesterday with a group on ladies day, one was nastily chastised by a mean guy in the base area because of "off color" language. Really? Why are you listening in on a private conversation? And who are you to tell her how to talk? She wasn't talking to you! And then today when I went to the shop to buy a pair of skis I demo'd I was yelled at by a lady there because I brought my dog. "No dogs allowed. GET OUT. OUT." OK OK - Don't have to be so cranky. What ski mountain doesn't like dogs as long as they are quiet, leashed, and not around food or a lot of people? For less than 5 minutes? Hunter seems staffed by a bunch of judgemental disciplinarians. Lifties are still smiling, laid back and fun. And my friends say the instructors are still great. But with few exceptions the rest of staff seems to have a stick up their you know what. Just plain crabby. Very sad. I will go to other mountains that still have the welcoming, free spirit and fun social atmosphere that captures all that skiing can be. Sadly seems that is not Hunter anymore.

Nice

Good is you're a traditional downhill skiier. But otherwise the terrain is very limited - hard packed groomed runs. Basically no tree runs (the 'Glades' are not that great). The lifts are very old and very slow. The rental gear is crap, so far as snowboards go.
Best part about this mountain is the pub. Great fun.

Updated: went to Hunter mountain today and it was snowing. It was busier than usual weekday. Went up to the Belt parkway and got into an accident. I felt and had to stop for a little bit cuz few snowboarders were riding pretty fast and, I tried to avoid them. Unluckly, one guy couldn't control his speed and bump rushed me. I got hit on my head and could not get up for a few minutes. Thank God that I had my helmet on. Very bad experience and don't want to come here for next time.
Life ticket was bit expensive and the slopes were not good as expected. I might come back to Hunter if they offer the big life card but I am done for this season. Bye bye Hunter!

Love going to the Hunter Mountain for snowboarding. They used to have the hunter big lift card until 2014/2015 season if I remember correctly. I bought my lift tickets from the Hunter mountain website ahead of time and saved some money with two consecutive days. It's always better to go there during the weekdays because there is no waiting for the lift.
Their foods in the cafeteria is much better than the other ski resorts. Especially, the chilli is one of the best! Yum yum!
I'll definitely go back to the Hunter mountain this year for snowboarding.

The summer skyride to the summit of the mountain is a great way to relax, and escape both the heat and the humidity at lower altitudes. They have chairs in shaded areas that just invite sitting, reading, and napping. Worth the drive!
