First time ever skiing was at Hunter Mountain, and I had a really awesome experience! Easily accessible place, multiple different runs and ample rentals & lessons available. Some of the staff were a bit terse, which was unfortunate, but other than that it was a great time overall. Could definitely see myself coming back here!

Great in the summer. When I used to work at Camp Loyaltown it was always a good place to go on a day off. In my second summer we went up at about 4am so we could watch the sunrise from the top and it was so beautiful.

When I was at hunter mountain this summer, I had made a wrong turn when hiking, and I got lost and when I finally arrived back at the lift it had closed and they started it up again just for me. I can't thank them enough!!!

My family and I had a lot of fun here snow tubing. It seems there are lots of other things to do here as well which we may do in the future. I can't give the full 5 stars mainly because it seemed a bit disorganized. We went on a holiday weekend so I'm sure there were more people there than usual but there didn't seem to be many systems in place to deal with the flow of foot traffic. In particular, when we went to eat we had to battle our way through bodies to find food and a place to sit. Other than that I can't complain. The staff was very helpful and friendly, it really seems like they enjoy working there. If you hate crowds (like me) I would suggest trying to go very early in the day or in the evening and during a regular weekend. It may still be a bit crowded but shouldn't be as bad as what I experienced.

Went skiing at Hunter mountain on a beautiful day, but it got pretty warm later and snow started getting slushy. Terrain park was decent and the runs were OK. Kind of icy, but can't say my expectations were high to begin with, especially being used to Tahoe and other West coast locations. One thing I really appreciated, though, was that black diamonds did not equate to moguls every single time, like many other resorts. I can handle moguls, but I definitely don't have as much fun on them as I do carving down the slope.

This place is great at making snow, even when it's a bit warm. The trails are fun, and have great lifts.
They have more lockers than other close mountains and room enough to grab a table for lunch, even when it's crowded.

The Ski School is hit and miss since Peak Resorts bought the mountain. We have put our kids in several times and the experience was terrible in January as they dont seem to limit the size of the classes for the young kids so the smallest zone gets crammed and our youngest literally got 3 passes down the hill over 3 hours. Hill, I mean 100ft. The older kids is great. I dont fault the instructors as they are great, just the revenue seeking Peak Resorts. The other parents were equally as enraged as we were on that non holiday January Weekend.

Hunter mountain is a nice place, but we went when there were a lot of people. The lifts got a bit hectic with that many people. The trails themselves are nice and the food court is very big, but they can improve the way they do the lifts a little bit.

Winter hasn't been great this year but Hunter made sure Ski Season was an A+ experience. Lift lines were super short, trails were groomed to perfection, and an amazing time was had. The snow was perfect and they were working on adding to the base the whole time we were there. The terrain park was amazing. The double blacks weren't too icy. I had a blast. Thanks Hunter for an amazing early spring ski!

My new favorite mountain in the Catskills. Very creative route layouts, fast lifts although they are a little behind other mountains by not having any gondolas. Nice Lodge with a huge bar and the chili in the cafeteria was awesome.there seems to be a little town built around the base Lodge so that would be nice for spending the entire weekend here. I went midweek and it was great but I've heard that weekends are a nightmare. I'll be sticking to midweek myself.

Hunter is fun, especially when the newbies stay to the lower portions. Stick to the diamonds and double diamonds and all is good. The only thing that makes it a bummer is the long waits for the lifts. Suggest hitting them up during the week to avoid that. Obviously it's on the east coast, so don't expect powder days every weekend... Or ever really.

Went for Day 1 of our Peak Discovery pass. This will be an ugly review, but in the end it was a nice day. I'm deducting 2 stars because of the rental and lesson experience.

The first thing I discovered was how terrible of a system Hunter uses for distributing rental equipment, specifically skis. There isn't a legit queue, or stanchions being used for an organized line, it's a free for all. Then after about 20-25 mins we got our skis, only have to stand on another 10 minute line to checkout with said rental equipment. Not a fun way to begin discover skiing.

Then came our Day 1 lesson, for privacy reasons I won't name our instructor, but he was 15. The poor kid was doing his 3rd class of the day and was very frazzled to say the least at our 16 person group. I understand it's a group class, but I was hoping for some individual critique and at least have the instructor give me some individual feedback, but I think our instructor was just fried from his long day, considering that's all he kept talking about.

We eventually made our way to the bunny hill, where the lesson took an unfortunate turn. Because our group was too large for our novice instructor, it took us about 80 out of the 90 mins scheduled to get to this point, we were clearly behind schedule (not my fault). Finally, we're online for the magic carpet and our instructor says, "Well guys, it's been a lot of fun, but I was supposed to be done today at 2pm and even though it's 220 and our lesson isn't over, I gotta go." He then promptly ski's away. Thanks bud. So then that leaves my GF and I to ride the carpet for the 1st time and ski the bunny slopes for the first time just us, luckily we survived.

So what did I learn on day 1 of peak discovery? Skiing is awesome but learn fast and get your own equipment so you don't have to give your time, money and soul to those rental lines. Thanks! I guess?

I love this resort. I just wish I could ski well. The snow was icy but they blew lots of fresh snow around all day to .ake it better. They have good food choices in the cafeteria and fun people at the bars. I enjoyed my beginner lesson while my husband skied on the advance slopes. I don't kniw if I will ever become very goid because I'm starting late but maybe I can become a good intermediate with more lessons.

We had such a great experience yesterday at Hunter Mountain! We did Ski School with Russ and were SO happy with our results - he is smart, patient, attentive, and very nice. Will definitely come back!

It was my first visit to Hunter Mountain and a first time skier. It was a horrible experience. We had difficulty in finding right equipment size. It was way too crowded and management was very bad. Probably it was weekend.
About group lesson, it was not bad. It was short and ok. Cafetaria was good and there were multiple options of food.

Had a such awful experience on tubing with my 2 y. o. som here. We did just one ride and my son was screaming because his butt was hurting. Nobody let me know that there is nothing inside the tube and he will be bumping his but all the way down the slide ( it was my first time tubing myself). I asked for return but they didn't want to return money because my son stop crying at that time. When we came back home I found three huge bruises on his little butt. Please don't take your little ones for tubing at this place.

Best mountain available considering it's proximity to NYC. The mountain offers slopes for all skill levels and decent classes for beginners. If you're unsure about it, stay on the bunny slope all day. Feeling more adventurous? Go to the top of the mountain and try any of the black diamond trails or terrain park. To get any better, you'll have to get into VT.

As far as food goes, either get the chili or bring your own lunch. The quality is school lunchroom but the price is not.

For a weekday there was a good amount of the mountain open considering how rough of a winter it has been with the high temps and limited snowfall. The mountain crew has been doing a great job. Hope for snow!!
