Great skiing experience, friendly staff, will go again
Beautiful scenery!! It was the first time I had ever went zip-lining and I had a great time. I recommend going. It's located in northern New York.
Awesome time, even in the rain. Doug and Liz were amazing. Had a great time.
Hero snow conditions and great escape to ski from NYC. The epic pass isn't fully integrated here so buddy passes are not yet possible.
Great mountain. Great terrain. Weekdays are the only time to go. On the weekends you'll spend more than half your day waiting on lines (ticket, lift, food)
I have been really impressed with their snow making this winter.
Not bad for East coast skiing. Small but fun runs, which are easier than stated
Great skiing. Great area to teach the kids. New slopes and lift.
I only waited two hours to rent a ski.
Even though the line is so long, the staff chatter and slow down...
It was the worst ski resort experience.
Excellent Oktoberfest. Great place to see fall foliage.
Snow was good. And they do an amazing job grooming the slopes with very little annual snowfall. On high wind days snow can get blown off the trails making it very challenging due to ice exposure.
Came up to pick up my son who broke his arm. Great job by the medical staff!
Super friendly and helpful staff and amazing slopes!!
Went for Tap New York. We make it a yearly tradition. Always a great time
Good place to advance in your skiing skills. All trails require maximum attention. Good price overall. Midweek is the best to avoid lines at the lifts. Cool vibe, nice mountain. Definitely on my list!
Not what it used to be pre vail days
Sketchy grooming lift lines need to open more lifts
My zip lining experience was awesome this is a definite must do you won't be disappointed with the zip line
Great mountain, many trails and lifts, good powder snow, not too crowded on the trails on a Sunday which is nice. They offer a $35 4 hour ski on Sundays which was perfect for us, spent less than half what we would've spent for full day. Lodge has huge food court with tons of selection. We got burger and Mac and cheese, both good. Highly recommend!
Wonderful place for the beginners and pro's who would like to experience skiing, beginners classes coaches and very helpful staff. Lots of different tracks separate for kids. Lifts elevators and escalators are open until late. Visit the place with the family and friends you'll surely love it.
Thanks
This place is crowded & ask for to much money on a day pass. Also closes at 4pm NO NIGHT SKIING.
A bit pricier than it used to be but had a good time!
Mountain with the worst skier/snowboarder etiquette and where safety doesn't matter: plan to be ran over multiple times by rude & obnoxious speeding riders/skiers, ski patrol can care less it seems as they've given up and never enforcing SAFETY, educational/beginner area almost never patrolled to rid of speedsters: my kids got run over/taken out several times by speedsters and no ski partol anywhere. Who's in charge here? Anyone cares about guest safety? Have you seen what other mountains do to enforce safety?
Great mountain with steep blue trails and long green trails. Theres also always fresh powder here
I went snowboarding and the conditions were good. My a lot of snow but the snow that was there was good with no ice.
Mountain is a a lot of fun. Good trails and long runs. Gets very crowded.
Amenities are older
Security is non existent. Ski Check closes at 4. Set my board in main area next to ski check and my snowboard was stolen by the time I came back out at 4:15. No cameras and was told to fill out a report at lost and found. I have been to at least 20 resorts and never had any issues
People working ski check almost smiled when I asked if they saw anything making it feel like this is a normal inside job. Ruined a day and season.
Great conditions with good coverage. The six pack chair moved the line quickly. Never waited more than 10 minutes on a holiday weekend.
I liked everything, but the artificial snow it is like skiing on concrete.
Price gouging all over the place , 16 oz bottle of water $4 , really , I recommend you bring all food and beverages or a bundle of cash , $$$ # RIDICULOUS
Great variety of trails for the price. Will be coming back
There is a ski lift that can be used to take you to one of the trails up to the peak of the mountain. While you won't get the view much while hiking up, going up and down the ski lift gives you the greatest view of the area especially when the leaves are in orange/red color. Fantastic hike and the volunteer workers up there were very friendly and informative. Well worth the donation I put in just for the hospitality and I hope it continues years to come. Oh! If you get to the top, please go up the tower because up there, you get one of the best view of the mountains.
We actually visited during summer time. Had a great time
It was great to ski at huntet. Plenty of skiable miles serviced by several express lifts. I would go again!
Under New Ownership.......now Hunter Mountain is under the Vail portfolio. Hoping to see some big new changes. Hunter not only is the snowmaking capital of the world but is also the birthplace of many of the innovations in the field over the past sixty years. Here's to looking into a brighter future for Hunter Mountain!
Magnificent scenery. Great ride up the mountain on the chairlift.
Highly recommended.
The rental and lesson sign up process was efficient but as expected a zoo on a Saturday. Sunday was much better. The instructors were great and some parts of the learning area really icy, some fluffy. All super crowded though (on a Sat!) As a ski area near NYC tho, it s a wonderful option!
Waffles are really good but during peak it s not easy to find seating in cafeteria.
Did the sky line. Had a good time. First time to a ski resort. Climbed a bit of the trail but it's rough. Wanted to see the fire tower but got to the mountain late.
Crowded, crowded, crowded, but the best terrain this side of Vermont.
Everything was great. Didn't take long to get tickets, snow was great. Only thing was it took a while to get rentals
Good ski mountain for City folks.
2 hours from NYC in the Catskills.
Intermediate to advanced slopes, the terrain could have been better this year.
Service is nice. A bit crowded. Broke my collarbone here and ski patrol was AMAZING they helped me and we're so kind all around
Long lines on lifts and ticket purchases.
Poor customer service response.
Covid effected service leading to extra precautions and lack of normal operation.
Lack of snow and open terrain due to mild weather conditions.
Went for a weekend trip, the first day was awesome, great runs good powder the mountain is challenging for intermediate boarders such as myself. The second however was horribly windy. The lift would stop because of it and the wind blew all the powder off the mountain. Great place but check the weather before you go.
Fresh snowfall last night. Lots of people are here today. Weather is great!
Snow was great for late March. Lines at the 6pack were insane, F-chair wasnt running so that probably didnt help. My wife and I did laps on the West-side and D Chair
Wonderful if you want to get away. Be careful to stay on the trails, otherwise, like any ski resort, it could be your last experience.
I honestly didn't care for this mountain. First, it wasn't kept up as well as others I've skied this season. SO much garbage on the trails and that wasn't even the hundreds of beer cans and bottles under the chair lifts. Also, some trail traverses should have been closed because they were really unsafe due to ice. The ski patrol was pretty much non existent the day I went. I experienced a few kids skiing over my skis when coming off the mountain, while I was getting in line for the lift, as well as cutting myself and other people off in line. Staff wasn't fully present or friendly like other mountains I've been to. I'm glad I went on a free pass I received at the Albany ski swap.
The mountain its self is pretty good for the area. The people who work there are friendly and do a good job maintaining the trails. The negatives are that it can be pretty crowded. On top of that people seem to lack basic mountain etiquette by stopping and hanging out in the MIDDLE OF TRAILS. Not like on the side, or even in intersections where there's more space. I also saw more confederate flags than I'd have liked.
We had a really good time with friends and family, I think it worthed the 2.5 hours drive. The shuttle service was really convenient, easy to rent skiing equipment, and (really important) affordable prices. The staff was really kind and helpful. Some of the facilities could be in better shape, especially the ones open to general public.
Decent trails. Pretty empty if you go on a weekday.
I like this mountain much more than Wyndham so it's worth the extra distance for me.
Great October f
FESTIVAL, YUMMY GERMAN FOOD AND BEERS
Staff was super helpful and courteous. Mountain is always a good time and with everything going on they re doing a great job giving people a place to go and enjoy themselves for a bit. Thanks hunter!
Week of Dec 21, long lines at base lifts, one base lift not operating (ugh!)
Nice place, a great day trip for me from the new york area. New terrain is nice and they can get people up to the top in a hurry.
Have only been for the TAPNY beer fest. Excellent place for it.
Great place but very long wait lines to everything !
Conditions were as expected. The limits on using the lodge and eating inside are ridiculous.
Don't use this address to navigate to the ski area. It will take you 30 minutes down a desolate dead end road nowhere near the ski resort.
Staff have not been enforcing proper mask wearing when outdoors. Many customers are not wearing masks in crowded lift lines.
I planned to snowboard at hunter on 2/31/2016. The temperature was 35-40 but the slopes were well groomed it wasn't too crouded and I arrived around 9am and left at three, got plenty of runs in, not really many lines for the lower mountain slopes, I also rented a board and boots, were very clean and fit well. Everyone there was very nice, the food was diverse and tasty, I got a mac and cheese, buttered roll, turkey sandwich and a soda and a Gatorade. I spilled my indian coworkers beer but he was wearing snow pants so it wasn't a big deal to me. He seemed mad.
First time snowboarding. The staff was very rude and unwelcoming. The lady at the registration desk was very rude, unhelpful and very unwelcoming. Then going through the rental process wasnt as bad but still felt a little overwhelming, very crowded. Then we paid for a lesson which was the biggest waste of time. The guy was very uninterested, short unhelpful. At the end, he was just like ok just figure it out cause i have to go, hope you had fun. It was almost comical. In 1 hour lesson, was only taught a heel side turn and that was it. Then we decided to take a break and get some food. When we got to the concession area. The lady behind the counter was even more rude. Basically yelling at us that there was no food. When my friend apologized, the lady responded what do you think we stay here all day. The time was 4pm and i guess they close at that time. But just really rude about it. Will not be returning.
Luckily got to ski here after 2ft of fresh powder and had the best time! The lift lines were well managed and even with covid restrictions felt like a normal ski day! Everyone is working hard to make sure the mountain is running smoothly
They lie about lifts open on their website. They say four are supposed to be open today but only 1 lift is operating! Their snow makers SUCK. They spit out ice or water. What ever it is it stings and covers you in ice!
It's great if your answer intermediate or expert skier but if you're a beginner thats, past the bunny sloap everything is too flat...
Pompous staff with poor customer service skills & yes I did get 100% refunded for poorly advertised events!!!
I have spent many years at Hunter Mountain and its like a second home. Great staff. Fun place with options for all ages and abilities.
Awful customer service through Vail Resorts. I can't get anyone on the phone. They pushed EPIC passes before Hunter lift tickets went on sale and suggested there would be no spots left to ski if I didn't get an EPIC pass. Sure enough Hunter lift tickets are now on sale for 40% less. You can't get anyone on the phone to discuss this, but EPIC passes are non-refundable. Funny Hunter Mountain tickets are. When I finally got someone on the phone they hung up on me. Vail Resorts is completely corrupt. I am sorry I ever booked this trip with them.
