2018 season is going to be great in Hunter mountain. Lots of snow and slopes are groomed very well. I like students discount $39 per day will remain by January 12. Learning center offer lots of options for all ages.
Ski trails were enjoyable and in great condition despite the warm weather this year. I would definitely go back!
Desorganized. Was required additional payment for the kid. I never found the kid class or the instructur. The location is excellent.
First, buy the lift ticket online. It will save you time and money. If you are going during the weekend, go early to enjoy great skiing conditions. We went on a Saturday and from 8:30-10:30 it was awsome. Many different trails and great views. We got in a lot of runs with little wait time at the lift. Then it started to get crowded.
Try to go to lunch early to avoid long lines and be able to find a table. The food is not terribly expensive and it is good quality. The bar has a few good craft beers on tap. In the afternoon, the slopes got very icy and crowded. The skiing was still ok, but not as good as the morning.
Awesome views from the top of the mountain. We had so much fun at Celtic fest
Hunter Mt. is beautiful! The woods, trails and lodge are so rustic and lovely. The staff is so friendly. Our guides: Kevin and Dillon were so knowledgeable, fun, reassuring and safe. They literally had our backs. Carrie at the reception rocks! Had a blast! Thank you!
Buy your tickets and stuff ONLINE!!! Customer service is awful and they do things very slowly. Save your time and energy and buy the tickets online! They charged my 14 year old 89 dollars instead of the discounted price even though her age was written on the forms. They only refunded one of the days as well. Awful guest services
Winter, spring, summer and fall, everyday of the year offeres fun activity all around mountains and cute little town of Catskills.
I would give 5 star if the slop side lodging reservation is not so unfriendly.
They charge any tiny changes, even right after submit the reservation. If you like to stay there, make sure you will make no change, be prepared that wifi might not be available!
Great place, runs for all levels. The Hunter mountain crew really take care of mountain.
Loved the views and especially the Kaatskills mountain lodge. Be sure to get a room here. We stayed at the condos and although very roomy and perfect for large families it was a bit outdated.
Love the mountain always something to do no matter time of the year.
Had a day worth getting soaked in the rain over. Have been pleased with how polite and helpful the Hunter mountain employees are. Lift operaters are friendly and caring, one was attempting to get slush off the chairs as they came around, what a guy!. As well as a member of patrol saw me laying on the ground off the side of the trail waiting for my ski-partner, and made sure I wasn't hurt. Not sure why the main lift went down but they told us within minutes of it going inop, rather than leaving us in the dark getting rained on with no lift in sight. I wish it wasn't so family friendly sometimes because the large population of children and novice riders that comes with the atmosphere, but if you ride defensively and respect the code, you absolutely will have good time here. And shout-out to the snow makers, the unsung heros that make it all possible, definitely doesn't go unnoticed.
Great place to snowboard or ski. To bad mother nature hasn't givin us much natrual snow this year!!
Went to a wedding on 5-23-16, beautiful setting, good service, good food.
In my opinion, best mountain in the area. Lifts are fast, mountain is big, plenty of mixed terrain
It was my first time skiing and this was a good place to learn. The rental equipment is great and the snow seems to be well maintained. It's also fairly close to NYC. I loved my first skiing experience and would definitely like to come back.
I DO LOVE HUNTER MOUNTAIN, FOR THE WEATHER, LOCATION, ETA, THINGS TO DO!!
There is a lot of easy parking, available rest rooms, and a good layout for various festivals, such as Oktoberfest or TAP-NY. The drive there is always nice and scenic, and the views around the area, even from the lower part of the grounds, is beautiful.
July, picture perfect, beautiful weather, outstanding views of the mountains.
They offer zip lining Outdoor Adventures and more. The staff were very helpful very accommodating. A very nice place to bring the family. And your Jeep :)
Amazing time, country fest, people were very friendly
I have been coming here for years . Trails are okay, lifts are okay. Staff is very friendly. But today I made a big mistake; I ate their food. I had clam chowder soup(tasted okay but clam pieces were chunks of plastic. Impossible to chew). Chili( tasted not so good but not horrible, be warned scarce on beans) 2 pieces of corn bread( that was quite delicious), baked potato with chili (tasted so so, the potato section was good), 3 chocolate puddings, one bottle of water, one salad(was fresh but they have no dressings , nothing, nada, no ranch, no blue cheese, no ceasar, not even olive and vinegar. I guess if you choose the salad, you are supposed to act like a cow and chew the cud), and one bottle of water (aquafina) Cost me $53 and change. I don't expect it to be a Michel rated restaurant. But have some dignity don't buy their food. We could not finish the chili, chowder clam and baked potato, not because we were full but because they tasted not so good. To top it all people just place bags on chairs and tables and occupy tables without anyone being there. Next time I will make a sandwich and keep it in the car for lunch and eat it on the lift. Their food is definitely overly priced and poor quality.
Lodge is great. I attended an off-road event here that was top notch. 10 out of 10, would definitely recommend.
We went to Dolan's lake at the base of Hunted Mountain. It's a nice little lake run by the town.
My husband and I went for Oktoberfest and had a fabulous time! It was a great free event, and the ski lift ride granted a gorgeous view of the fall foliage. We want to go back for skiing and experience the winter at Hunter Mountain!
The best skiing place around when you go to the top you ligitly get scared
Quick ticket buying and rental setup. Easy to fill out rental info on their kiosk pc sign it and go. Trails range from easy to difficult and have plenty of variety.
The snow was beautiful the lift lines were short. Just what you want
One of the most beautiful places to hike and ski(depending on the season ofcourse).
The skiing was excellent, not too crowded, great staff
Mountain was very nice, bar is also nice. Bar would be better if it faced the mountain. Very nice service except at the little pizza place next to the bar. Should have a bathroom upstairs by the bar.
Huge line to rentals. Despite it was Monday we spent more than 2 hrs in the line.
The mountain was great. There were a few unmarked grass patches eclipsed by terrain until you got too far
Hunter mountain is a hidden gem! It's less commercialized yet. It's a great place for skiing & even to see fall colors. It has beautiful mountain & plain views. We visited here for Oktoberfest & they had some fun activities for kids, drinks & local food & a German Market. It has a bar to keep you warm in chilly weather but not much of a food court. There is nothing around so you are limited to getting food & drinks from this limited option.
New York's mountain home. The empire state's empire country home, rich in history in a pristine natural setting. Grate with or without snow.
Snow Tubing Experience:
One of the best and closed snow activities for tri-state area residents. We tried the snow tubing and it turned out to be fun.
We visited during the end of season, so the quality and quantity of snow was not that great. Hopefully we will visit during peak season need to time.
We did a walk in and there wasn't much crowd or a line to get tickets. Don't go by status of availability online, when we tried the online showed only 5slots available, but that wasn't the case in reality.
Lodge needs updating. Crowds are full of meatheads in sports jerseys.
Great atmosphere as the skiers come in and out. Good food and beers on tap.
No lines, good service. We went on an overcast Tuesday and it was a lot of fun.
Crowded on weekends and holidays but for the distance from NYC it's one of the best.
Weekday is amazing! Good conditions! (Update 2018 pre St Patty s day ... AMAZING great conditions!).
The cleanest and well supplied portopotty I've ever seen. Very nice friendly security
Amazing place, instructors for beginners are very nice, prices are reasonable, and there are tons to do even if you dont ski or do snowboarding, ten thumbs up!
Good lodge and food. Expensive of course but that's the same with every ski lodge. Good slopes for everyone, from
beginner to expert. Snow conditions are usually good. I'd reccomend to anyone from long island.
Can get crowded with out of town New Yorkers (like myself), go on a weekday if possible.
I did zipline mid mountain tour. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We arrived late but they were nice enough to wait for us. The ziplining was a great experience, and kids loved it.
I can t speak highly enough of hunter mountain and it s staff. From the start of my day the staff was respectful and accommodating. After a great day of snowboarding on well maintained trails, I noticed my snowboard was missing. After going to guest services and speaking with a representative, I was informed that they had received information of a person who was taking patron s equipment. Hunter mountain s vigilant staff identified and stopped this individual with my snowboard and if not for the staff my snowboard wouldn t have been taken from me. I can t be more thankful for the staff.
Good snow, not packed (Christmas day) a little icy afternoon, but good experience overall.
Great beginner/intermediate mountain, I was lucky where conditions and weather were perfect. Weather is weather but I think Hunter takes care of their trails well.
They re efficient with ticketing, parking, lifts, and even the food lines. They don t let everyone into the food line at once which keeps things orderly. I had the chili which was awesome. The bar accepts cash and card. If you pay by card tip is included in your charge. Plenty of indoor/outdoor seating as well.
Great mountain! Challenging, but not overly insane slopes.
First time snowboarding, had such a good experience here. Steven Flammer was a fantastic snowboard instructor, the whole resort was beautiful. We went on a Monday so it wasn't busy at all. Decently priced and the staff at the rental place was very helpful/friendly.
Always have been a fan of Hunter. The employees are great, the mountain has some nice runs for all ability types, the hotel is right on the mountain and it's pretty new. I learned to ski at Hunter and I take many friends to the mountain to learn. Learning staff are really great with the kids as well. Highly recommend Hunter!
I love skiing and seeing everyone being so active, my only issue besides the over pricing for everything was that one of the snowboarding instructors who was coaching a child was very very rude and I hadn't said or done anything negative towards them. They had decided just to be short and have an attitude with me when all I was doing was standing a little too close... If that's how staff speak to guests then I wouldnt suggest this place to my friends or family.
Small mountain. Needs to be updated. Everything is so old. Great spot though for a quick NYC getaway
Beautiful and special, especially for a family vacation.
