Cleanest Humane Society I've ever seen. I'm a good judge of character and the employees seemed a little skittish about letting you meet the animals so if you're interested in adopting, have all of your ducks in a row because they are judging. They're not necessarily rude but they seem to side eye you a little and I hope it's for the animals and not for personal reasons. Sorry I speak my truths.

This place is very clean and all of the animals seem to be very well behaved. Most employees are nice and helpful. The clinic does everything they can to create a good experience.
We were very disappointed with the whole staff they refused to help Pinky. There only options they offered to us was to either give her up or put her down
They were willing and capable of receiving and maintaining proper care of some unexpected puppies in our care and that was a great relief but when it was time to take them we didn't have enough $ for six + puppies and 1 adult and also no transportation to haul pups.
We have taken several dogs from here and one cat. Have always been very satisfied with the facility and staff. This year we had to surrender two dogs to them and they found them homes right away. Love this location!
LOVE the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. The people are tireless in their pursuit of homes for their visiting pets! I got my Floyd there and I will get my next pet there. Thanks to the Staff at HSSA!!
We recently lost a pet of 13.5 years and came here looking to adopt a new family member. Spoke to a Staff member over the phone, Morgan, who was so helpful and professional. She listened carefully to what we were looking for in a new pet and made an appointment for us to meet. We fell in love and have our new family member. Danny (his new name is Cooper) has been with us 1 month today. He is happy and healthy. Loves meeting his new neighbors at the dog park. We just want to say Thank You to the staff at the Humane Society. Please see them for your new pet, you ll be glad you did.
In March, we went to the old building. It was closed! The only info there was that the new facility would be open in (I think it read) January. And the new address. Went to new address it was also closed. No phone numbers. No signs. Nothing!!
Went there to turn over some cats and they turned us away then just before we left told us its 45.00 per animal. I think that is terrible we always donate to the humane society I rescued my dog from the humane society and paid to get her. We had to bring the cats back to a cold house that is empty after being turned back. We I will no longer support the humane society especially since I found out that they charge to take in charge to get an animal and we were turned away shame on you.
We are going there today so this review may change. There are a lot of negative posts here, all staff related. I am an ex- employee of the humane society in Florida. Best job I ever had. Hard work and under paid but I was there for the babies. I always treated the custumers with the utmost respect (not so much co-workers tho)they are the saviors of a homeless epidemic that is out of control. Please do not let their rudeness stop you from adopting a baby from there. If I treated rudely I will call them on it. Believe me that do not want to go there with me. If we could have a homeless shelter for humans and animals together we could do a lot of good. There is a human for every dog and cat......
Incredible facility with nothing but love for all animals! Other humane societies should take notes from how they run it. Visit and find your forever friend here .
I am not impressed. They wanted $45 to take a stray dog that was found. Why would someone pay money they don't have after doing the right thing and helping out a stray dog?
They did a phenomenal job with cremation services. Price was cheap AND the box I received was fitting for my pupper. Highly recommend them for all your animal needs!
Completely and totally RUDE / UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF just tried dropping off 2 stray dogs that had been running in and out of traffic, I get the dogs inside and one of the girls starts to inform me that "this is a process" that I need to stay to fill out paperwork or stay until they can locate the owners, also that there's a 45.00 fee per dog to leave them, I explained that I didn't have that and she rudely remarked "well you became responsible when you picked them up" so I said well I guess ill just take them back outside then, and with NO HESITATION they let me walk the dogs outside and let then go, UNBELIEVABLE! I really thought I was doing the right thing by picking them up off of the streets and taking then somewhere safe until the owners could be reached, each of the dogs had tags and were chipped, it would have only been a matter of time to find the owners, I was on my way to a paint job so I honestly didn't have time to wait, since when did the "Humane Society " become so " IN-HUMANE"? I can say one thing for sure, I will think twice about ever picking up a stray dog, I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THE HUMANE SOCIETY, Those ladies most definitely need to attend CHARM SCHOOL if they want to convince people to pay ANYTHING when they bring a stray animal in, for heavens sake, I'm so disgusted that something that started out with the very best of intentions ended up soooo ugly!
The staff was very caring and attentive while I was there with a friend for support as she was euthanizing her companion. It was a Sunday, but they still all seemed willing to be there to do the right thing for the animals and their families!
My friends are fostering 8 puppies. The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is truly a great cause. The right puppies were all microchipped before fostering.
The staff are empathetic to the foster families. They ensured that mentors were identified for this brood.
My friends were at the mall today with their service dogs when their dogs were barked, snarled and lunged at by two dogs being in the mall illegally with the organizations staff on duty. (We have video evidence of the dogs interfering with her service dog) This lead to my friend having a medical episode and her dog being unable to task properly because the humane society s dogs were interfering with my friend s service dog. Under the ADA federal and state laws, it is illegal to bring a pet into a non pet friendly place, including the mall which is not pet friendly. Further, in the state of Arizona, it is a felony to interfere with a service dog as they are classified as medical equipment under both state and federal laws. To make matters worse, the lady who was walking the dogs scoffed in their faces and said sorry it offended you when she literally could have cost my friend her life, (we have video proof of her saying this) the ableism that was seen was so incredibly unprofessional, and my friend is currently planning on taking further legal action, which in case you didn t know, could cost the organization to lose their 501(c)3 status. If you have a service dog, stay very far away from this unprofessional and extremely rude and ableist organization. They could have killed my friend. As an organization, it is your job to make sure your employees are properly educated on both state and federal laws while also insuring they maintain a level of professionalism that does not discriminate against disabilities, gender, race, etc. unfortunately you failed greatly in that aspect today.
I adopted my dog through the Humane Society 9 years ago. So when my elderly cat died, leaving an array of food we'd tried to give him while he was declining and his appetite was decreasing, I thought what better place to donate it?
When I went in, however, everyone was busy. The only people who acknowledged me were other visitors, filling out forms to check out potential pets. I get that the two staff members in the lobby were busy with folks actively adopting pets, but a simple "someone will be with you as soon as we can" or even noticing that I was carrying a big box (that I probably could have just left somewhere and been on my way) would have been nice. A pair of young volunteers emerged from the back and immediately approached a couple who were walking in the front at the same moment, once again disappearing. A couple of other guys barely emerged from the back, and disappeared again. In total I stood there for more than ten minutes (my husband, waiting out in the car with our baby said it was more like 15-20) feeling awkward and having plenty of time to contemplate the loss of my beloved companion, so that when, finally, someone did acknowledge me, I was in tears for the duration of our 30 second interaction. It was a disappointing experience all around.
Had long Day Yesterday, Picked Up kitty stuff, and drove to animal shelter to see if I'll find a Cat that I'll have connection with. Decided to ADOPT and come home with PEROGI, 11 year old male cat, he had an illness called cauliflower ear, needed vet checkup every now and then. he had disabilities but he is so Gentle and Lovable that makes him Unique Please adopt, don't Buy
If i could give a negative rating i would. They were absolutly no help to us or my dogs. If im paying for a service it shouldnt matter the reason. They are my dogs and i should be able to have done what i am paying for.
