Although I understand, the adoption process shouldn't include all the way down to what brand of toilet paper I use. I donate here and there, though it's been awhile. I wanted to adopt a kitty for most wonderful person I know but they made it impossible to surprise her with. So I went elsewhere and found a perfect kitty

This is a beautiful place. It was clean, and bright. The staff was kind and friendly. Always willing to answer questions. They helped me find our new family member.
I found two dogs running loose on a road on the outskirts of town, bug eyed and drooling everywhere like they were heat exhausted. When I arrived with the dogs at the humane society, they were not given any water. No food. Nothing. The employee began demanding that I pay a $90 to drop these poor dogs off, or they wouldn't take them in. I lived in my car at the time, so I couldn't take them home. I didn't have a home. As embarrassing as it was, I tried to privately explain why I couldn't take them with me. The employee began raising her voice so everyone in the room knew I was homeless, and didn't have $90. Everyone was staring at me at this point, and I was so humiliated. Eventually I decided to just leave and left the dogs out front. The employee was shouting at me across the parking lot, demanding my return, saying I couldn't just leave the dogs. So I said "watch me". This is when she finally agreed to take the dogs but I had to come inside to sign some papers. I had to sign a document that confirms these were not my pets, as well as a waiver that says the dogs will be put down if they don't get along with other dogs, or if they can't find a home. I was devastated. I cried so hard after signing those papers. I was forced to agree to the humane society KILLING these poor animals because I couldn't give them a proper home. NEVER will I bring another innocent animal to this horrible place. Nor will I subject MYSELF to such inhumane treatment and blatant disrespect. These people are disgusting and I advise strongly against supporting them in any way.
Humane Society of Southern Arizona is a wonderful place. They were wonderful in helping me get the right pet for me. Also I think they take excellent care of the animals they have. They advocate for animals and have wonderful activities to raise money
Watch out for this Org. they hold you too a level that they don't maintain themselves and do not believe them when they tell you an animal you are adopting is healthy, I know people that have had to spend thousands to save the life of supposedly healthy pets they have adopted from the Humane Society. They are in it for the money, and not for the pets.
Don't bother going if you wanna just look at any dogs. Esp if its 40 minutes til close. Absolutely a waste of time. They tell us fill out an app, but come back tomorrow because there is 40 minutes til close. STUPID! I'll go to PACC and save a dog that's about to be euthanized.
Nice new building. Layed out to be human friendly. If you only want to see small dogs, the volunteer takes you to that area without viewing all animais. All animals at this facility need a new home. Go find a new compaion.
You guys have been around her many years. You have helped many people find and get pets. Thank you for taking in, taking care, and adopting out your animals.
My dog got oit when i was at work. He was brought in by a person on the street and i got a call from a lady at the human society they called me with in 2 hours of drop off. It was a easy pick up and I was so great full that we have the human society and I did not have to drive all the way to animal control and have to wait.
They save animals from horrible situations, yes. Adopted my cat from this place. They don t have a clue about the animals in their care. The kennels are nasty. They need to make sure they keep their animal spaces clean.
The facilities were clean but seemed under staffed or people were hiding. Seriously though, most of the dogs acted as though they were drugged or sick. The inmate trustees, or that's what I assumed they were, were more available and thus helpful than any other people. I suppose funding is a huge factor when it comes to available customer service. I did not adopt.a dog that day. I did however adopt from a group that works with the humane society (LiL Bit of Love Adoption) were all very happy!
Changed my rating. They stopped by after they had closed. I was worried that I had no response in 4.5 hours. The woman came to my house to pick up the cats. Nice.
I went to the clinic with my friend so she can get shots for her dog and we had to wait outside in the heat for 3 HOURS just to get shots..I'm sorry but that's ridiculous its hot outside and how is it fair for the dogs cause they're burning their paws on the hot ground other than that the service is alright I guess
It feels super unorganized. You ask the same question and get a different answer from each employee. They never answer the phone. They seem like the just want you to take the dog and get out.
Absolutely love the new location! Way more space, bright colors, bigger play area for interaction with possible new family members. Most staff is super friendly and interactive.
Had a horrible experience with an older white man, named Mason. He made the experience unenjoyable. We brought a 9 month old baby with us to view the animals and he had a conniption fit letting the baby get anywhere near the gate, while we were holding her. He insisted on yelling at us until I told him we didn't need his advice.
I was broken hearted taking our American bulldog down to them because we have no yard and staying with family. I was crying and the people who work there are very nice and made me feel better knowing they cared about him and would make sure he went to a good home. You have to make an appointment to release animals during Cov 19 but they were very organized. I really do feel the people really do care about the animals in there care. I love the new building its clean and well air conditioned.
Have obtained our last three dogs from there. Selection can be limited at times, but keep looking. Overall, very pleased with the staff for their help.
When I need there help on months I can't afford food for my dogs or cats I go there and they really help me a lot then when it got real cold at nights they gave me blankets to keep them warm
I can tell you that they don't answer their phone. Don't really know about their pet services. But we tried to call 1st to ask some questions, but since they don't answer, we ended up not adopting from them.
Wasn't acknowledged when we walked in which is a huge thing for me- often waited several minutes for help when needed but given full and complete attention when it was our turn. Ultimately a very easy process to adopt a new family member. Glad we did.
so i adopted a 2 year old dog he was sick trowing up every where i had no idea now i need to find a vet to find out whats the issue with him is im told there is a common problem with this location handing out sick animals take a second a monitor the pet your trying to save they will not look at them!!! after you pay for them
If this humane society had a manx syndrome cat kitten like ned they would adopt bed out not like the one in North Carolina lake norman doesn't want to save ned these people care.
They save animals lives. Wish I could take and love then all. I was offered a job, but I would come home with all of them. I love animals. I take them and help all animals.
I have adopted twice through the years and 2 dogs each time. They were a loving part of our family and hope to adopt again but looking for a small adult that has been waiting a long time. Thanks for all you do in every direction you do it!!!
The staff here are very kind, my sister was in a place that she couldn't keep her pet and the folks here were patient and kind when she was looking at possibilities of giving up her fur baby.
They didn't seem very motivated to let people adopt animals. We went in and looked around and wanted to look at an animal. We had to fill out a form before we could see it. After we filled out the form, they told us it would be too late that day to adopt. It would have been nice if someone had explained the process to us because then we could have filled out the form first or come back later.
I take my puppy here for her vaccinations, it is always rather long wait but she has a great time meeting and playing with all the other dogs. The staff are Always nice and pleasant.
It is a horrible facility with terrible ethics. Please, if you're looking to adopt or drop off a pet that can no longer be cared for go to HOPE animal shelter. I promise they will take better care of your animal
I really don't think saying "snooze you lose" to someone who came to adopt a dog that was in the process of being adopted as I walked through the door is appropriate or professional. I would get different answers everytime we called. The volunteer lady was not the most pleasant person to talk to.
I'm ready to adopt again. I've had a horrible experience as a "foster." I went online to see what was up. More poor reviews. I will find my next best friend somewhere else.
What a beautiful Humane Society!! We re from Oregon and have always volunteered at them. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. The facilities is extremely clean and the pups get toys. They are always not too crowded which gives the pups room to breathe. I love it! We will definitely be dropping by more often.
