Humane Society is the best!!! I usually only have interaction w/the employees in foster care: Raechel and Jay. They always are friendly, professional and will help you with anything needed. They always go above and beyond the scope of their work. I love working with them!!! Any time I've gone into either the kennels or the store, each and every employee (including inmates that volunteer) are all the most helpful, courteous and considerate people/employees I've ever encountered in a business. Keep up all the good work you do both for our community and our defenseless pets that need your help.

They make the process of adoption almost impossible. After losing my beloved family dog of 14 years I wanted to give a forgotten dog a forever home. If you have other dogs make sure to bring them with for a meet and greet . Be prepared to jump through hoops just to give an unloved dog a forever home. You are better off going privately to find a pet for the family.

They were wonderful to me and my 12 year old dog Max it was his time to leave me, his hip's weren't working and he just couldn't control his bladder anymore. I was a wreck sobbing but the staff assured me that he wouldn't feel anything, and would just go to sleep and be in the dog park in the sky. I was told the whole process would take 15 minutes or so and it did. I had to choose from 3 options $65 you dispose of the pet $130 they dispose of the pet $190 cremate the pet, I chose $65 due to financial inconveniences but I wish I had chosen cremation all of the above include the euthanasia of your pet.

First and last time there. Terrible organization to look at the animals compared to PACC. We were told to wait outside until we could go back. After 20 minutes listening to their windchimes giving me a headache, I went in to tell them we were leaving and and take may name off the list. I was told that I should comeback on a weekday when they were slower. It is Friday at 3PM. The few people we interacted with also have a snobby tone.

Very affordable services. Back home the vet told us it would cost $1000 to spay our dog. I went to this facility instead and paid $232 for spay and three shots. If I factor in the cost of gas, my overall cost was $286. I will DEFINITELY visit again.

After going to PACC, A different animal shelter, I visited here looking for a dog that would fit me. The Human Society was much cleaner than PACC, though PACC is tremendously large. the staff here was friendly both times I visited and multiple volunteers and/or employees asked me If I was being assisted throughout both experiences. Runs a lot smoother than PACC, though again, PACC contains a lot more animals and is a lot larger. My new buddy seems to be adjusting nicely to his new home and he told me to tell you to look into 'libertarian-socialism' ..now you don't want to disappoint my new dog, do you? I mean.. You like dogs right? you're not.. a dog hater..are you?

I love dogs. I forgot to say that it is incredibly hard to reach someone on the phone here. Being that that is the case my little dog who I can't take with me where I moving to. So I really don't know what to do with him. He is such a nice young dog.

Update- They flat out refused to take my perfectly healthy young male who I ended up giving to a stranger at Jacob s park who has a small female high spirited dog. This older woman had a way about her that made me believe she would take very good care of him. I am extremely disappointed that I was forced to do this in the first place but the way I was treated at the humane society was appalling!!

When my elderly cat passed away, I took her remains here to have a special cremation (where the ashes are returned to you). The staff was wonderful throughout the whole process, and took very good care of my girl.

Facilities are great, however the help is inconsistent. While I never ran across anyone strictly unhelpful they were rude. So just be mindful of who helps you and maybe try a different day if you have a poor experience.

New location is a healthy step above their old location. Great facility all around, although at the point in time we went there were only a handful of dogs. This I would like to think is a good thing, meaning that they are being adopted at a high rate.

I got my sweet little bun from HSSA and I couldn't be happier. Hazel(nut Spice), formerly named Shoeshine, is the sweetest little rabbit. She's mischievous and funny and makes every day a bit brighter. I can have the worst day and she makes me smile and laugh.
I would always recommend adoption before buying ANY animal so I appreciate all that the humane society does for our community.

Today we took our dog in the to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona for his distemper and parvo Vaccination. The staff was very friendly to me and to my dog Indy. I would highly recommend this place as they have very inexpensive weekly vaccines on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Although it took a little bit we were out of there in no time.

Covid rules have their hands tied. Website is hard to find when inputting Humane Society. I got Phoenix location.
However, Erin, sensitive to our plight of thinking we made an appt. and not having one, went out of her way to connect us with the Park Mall where we were successful in getting a dog!!!

I found a kitty outside my door one cold morning a few weeks ago. She was "hangry", so I let her in, fed her, and let her nap by the heater. The humane society promised to find her a good home. I believe they will, donate when you can folks, I did!

I chose to have my dog neutered here (my biggest mistake) and within just a couple of days he tore open his stitches (he had a cone on and everything) and when we went back to get help from the very same people who operated on him they refused to help so we went elsewhere. When I took him to a different vet clinic to get stitched up again the vet said that whoever had previously neutered him had done a TERRIBLE job (the vet's words not mine) and had failed to stitch the area properly and also had done just an overall awful job. Keep in mind the humane society does not offer a cheap price for the neuter & spay procedures so the original price I paid for that surgery was $105.00 but because they did such a HORRENDOUS job on my dog it ended up 6x that price for having to take him to another vet that was able to correct the mistakes the vets from the Humane Society made. On top of that, they charged me(without having asked me first) for a flea treatment they put on my dog which also did not work at all because they never went away. Please, I advise EVERYONE to not get your pets spayed or neutered here!!! They do a terrible job and refuse to help you with the mistakes they themselves made.

I have watched the HSSA grow over the years from a struggling tiny facility with a high kill rate to a modern no-kill shelter. I admire the work it took to accomplish this. I've adopted several wonderful cats over the past decades. Thank you for all that you have done for the animals and people of this community.

About Humane Society of Southern Arizona

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1944. With over 75 years of experience, HSSA has become a trusted resource for pet owners in the Southern Arizona region. The organization's mission is to promote responsible pet ownership and improve the lives of animals through advocacy, education, and support.

HSSA offers a wide range of services to help pets and their owners. One of their most popular programs is adoption. HSSA takes in thousands of animals each year and works tirelessly to find them loving homes. They have an extensive screening process for potential adopters to ensure that each animal goes to a safe and caring home.

In addition to adoption services, HSSA also provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for pets in need. This program helps reduce the number of unwanted litters and ultimately saves lives by preventing overcrowding in shelters.

HSSA also offers behavior training classes for dogs with behavioral issues such as aggression or anxiety. These classes are taught by certified trainers who use positive reinforcement techniques to help dogs overcome their challenges.

For pet owners who are struggling financially, HSSA has a Pet Assistance Program that provides food, supplies, and medical care for pets in need. This program helps keep families together during tough times by ensuring that they can still provide for their furry family members.

One unique aspect of HSSA is their partnership with local schools through their Compassion Education Program. This program teaches children about responsible pet ownership, animal welfare issues, and empathy towards all living beings.

Overall, The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is an invaluable resource for pet owners in the region. Their commitment to improving the lives of animals through education, advocacy, and support sets them apart from other organizations. If you're looking for assistance with your furry friend or want to make a difference in your community's animal welfare efforts - look no further than HSSA!
