Howard Johnson Québec Review

The truth that on entering gave us a rather stale smell. It was clean and the beds plus large are very comfortable. The noise from the pipes of the adjacent rooms is unbearable, if the room above you shower very late at night or very early in the morning will wake you up for sure. The breakfast very average, the coffee just to see it took away the desire to try it. If you do not have a rental car, do not stay in this hotel, it is almost half an hour from the historic center of Quebec.

Bathroom slightly small, but rather large room and excellent comfort.

The hotel was fine. The hallways smelled musty. The room was clean though.

Room was outdated and a bit dirty (bathtub had mud splashes, empty bottle and Kleenex found lying around). Also, had problems checking in (we used Expedia, and receptionist tried charging us twice). At least they included breakfast.

Don't worry about reserving parking! The doors at this hotel were very hard to open. They need to be greased! The bed was firm, but it was comfortable. The guests above us were very noisy though, which is a no-can-do for a light sleeper.

Free easy parking. Very light breakfast. OK rooms. To redo.

Comfort very acceptable, not very far from the city center, many restaurants and shopping centers nearby. Average breakfasts but at will. Many free little services.

Good hotel in relation to price - quality, breakfast is good and unlimited, beds and rooms quite comfortable.

Dirty room & lazy receptionist. Very old decor this place hasn t been updated for many years.

Very inexpensive and not far from Quebec city however hotel is not very fancy but that is expected considering the inexpensive price. I would recommend this place. Staff were friendly and room was clean and comfortable.

We asked for an extra roll away bed they told us it was already in the room, but it wasnt there. Then they said they ran out and couldnt do anything. Night was uncomfortable. Room is average, and your better off having breakfast at Tims instead of here.

The two double bed room is small and has an unpleasant smell. For the same price, I have stayed at better hotels. On the plus side, you do get free breakfast.

I was for 2 weeks in this hotel the rooms were ok but the customer service is zero on ten.

Pretty much as expected for the price. Room was a bit dated but was clean and tidy.

Ok for the money. Nothing special. Good starting point, if you do not want to spend the night in the city.

They told me this was a non-smoking hotel. When I entered my room, it felt like I got hit by a wall of cigarette smoke. I asked to switch rooms and they said the hotel is full, so they couldn't switch. Pillows had burn marks and holes on it. What made me REALLY upset was that the manager was unavailable to do anything for me last night and the tenant assured me the manager would be in by 9am the next morning. We have sleep apnea and are allergic to cigarette smoke. It was uncomfortable, but we dealt with it for 1 night. Come next morning, manager still unavailable and "doesn't know" when he/she is coming in. Turns out, the manager was there the entire time (I saw him in his office) and the tenant (Joanne) lied. She even admitted to it and was 100% unapologetic. The manager was unhelpful as well and completely denied any smell of cigarette (another lie). If you're a smoker, at least now you know where to go to get a smoking room for cheap..cuz they obviously don't care. Warning to other people who may be sensitive or allergic to smoke... the hallways reeked last night as well.

Its a clean, good locations , very helpful stuff. I will stay if i comeback to Quebe.

The staff is very dynamic and smiling.
The rooms are very clean and provided with several very nice equipment.
This is the 4th time I come here and I will be back for sure.

Good rooms nice room service .....and good breakfast

Pretty decent hotel experience, good breakfast and the staff were friendly. Only downside is that our shower drain didn't work.

Hotel that does not look mine but pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, very clean and pleasant staff no surprises for the price is really very reasonable I recommend

Breakfast is not worth anything.
It is better to take croissants or a pie with you. After coffee it's free

Great hotel, very nice rooms, reasonable prices, nice staff, Continental breakfast, even though there was some renovations at the hotel everything was still accessible.

The rooms don't smell good. There is a lot of humidity and it smells of mold. We went to the reception to inquire and they told us that this was normal and that they had a problem with the air conditioning, but that they did not know where the problem was. So all the rooms have this smell and it smelled so bad that we moved to another hotel.

We feel like we get the value for the price we paid.

Quite good breakfast served.
Staffs are nice.
Ample parking space available.
Wifi was OK.
And rooms are quite clean.

Hotel was nice. Stayed during end of August. Cold fridge, good air conditioning, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. Disliked that you must buzz in to access side doors, but understand the safety reasons behind it. Wish it was a card swipe to get in. But otherwise, it's good. Continental breakfast is okay, but could upgrade to an American breakfast including meat.

Was a very comfortable stay for a very reasonable cost. Breakfast was satisfying.

We got there late with 2 Young kids and they we're very welcoming. They even lent us a play pen that our little one slept in. Clean and comfortable rooms. We had a great sleep.

Washroom need to be refreshed. Room too dark, not enough Lightning

After we went into our room, we discovered the room is very stuffy and lacking air. We turned on the wall AC unit and went to bed. Two hours later, we were waking up by the smoke alarm on the ceiling and discovered our room was full of smoke. We called the front desk to report it. A young man came up and the first thing that came out of his mouth was "what have you done to the room" instead of concerning for our safety. We told him that we were just turned on the AC unit. He then informed us that the outside of the AC unit was covered due to out-of-season and if we need any air in our room that we should open the window. He moved us to another room but with the same condition that is without any air circulation nor an operating AC unit in the room. We left the hotel in the middle of the night to move to another hotel. They denied our request for a refund! IF YOU WANT TO STAY ALIVE, SAFE AND HEALTHY.... DON'T STAY HERE!

The room smelled of smoke, towels were dirty, even after complain, bathroom is small. Poor breakfast. Positive was only the kindness of one service person.

The room was alright but the price was high. Hotel is not in good shape and breakfast is limited. Staff were friendly and nice.

Clean, comfortable, and affordable! Within walking distance of restaurants, a shopping plaza, and a cineplex. The only complaint I have is that the continental breakfast is pretty minimal, and if you don't come early then most of the food will be gone already (I dont think they restock until the next day).

Terrible bed made poorly and uncomfortable. Crazy small bathroom sink in hallway. Has great AC though

Super rude staff named lawrence... we did not get room that is in pictures on Priceline, bathroom very small and stinks...ac filter reset sign was on, we asked for air freshener, she came to room and said we are lying....though we requested to spray air freshener she brought with her, she mocked me . She did same when I asked her about what to visit in Quebec city earlier upon check in

My brother good cheap hotel in Quebec. Situated near the airport, there are also all known restaurants and a few discoveries, a huge cinema a few shops nearby. I always take a room on the 1st floor as they are More

We enjoyed our stay here. Ample parking space. Decent rooms. A very basic breakfast.

The beds are horribly hard and not in a good way loll

Place was clean. Breathier had no choices, very basic and mediocre quality. We stayed 1 night, just to catch some sleep in between our road trip. But we didn't get any sleep. Random people started knocking our door at 4 am, it was scary and we were woken up so abruptly by the loud banging on the door. It continued for 20 minutes, and the reception desk had no clue when we called them to ask what's going on. It was noisy all night. The place Creeks when someone's walking anywhere. Then when we finally tried sleeping again, someone started calling our room every 10 minutes around 6 am. Again we called the reception desk to inquire who is calling? They had no clue and were not concerned. It was a very creepy experience. Before checking out, we were just told sorry, we will try looking into it. Overall not a good experience.

Average hotel. Day staff was rude while night was pleasant. Inquired about airport shuttle service and was told to show up at 830. At 800 i showed up and said i needed the shuttle was told, by the same guy that checked me in, it was full and i would need to take a taxi. The fare was only 12 bucks but still all he had to do was register me for the shuttle at check in.

The staff are excellent, but the hotel deserves a little refreshing, the rooms look like a cheap motel !! Especially at the price that it costs for one night !! Really too expensive!

I was send there by the airport to rent a car as apparently there was none available on location. I went in, there was only one receptionist. I thought she was dealing with both hotel and rental car company. I barely had time to say I didn't have a reservation then she cut me and said she didn't have anything available. Told her I as here for a rental car. Still rude telling me the other girl left. I said that the website tells me they close in 3h. Said he was not her problem and again that there was no car. I m sorry but her being that rude I would have cross the parking lot and change hotel for super 8 right away.

spa dirty water so couldnt use it room not realy better then a basic motel low rate 1 or 2 star motel matress hard bath not real usual size more half bath very very small bath room water link on bathroom ceiling no microwave. curtain let pass day ligth on side in morning not impress at all with front desk service I dont recomand u can have many hotels a lot better a lot in quebec for same rate with better room better service and better localisation too. its not in a nice area and get a stripper bar realy close by...

Good value for money. Good quality of sommiers and correct breakfast. You do not have to be looking for the cleanliness of the bathroom.

The guy in the front desk rarely understands me and he took very long time to find my booking. I paid 150 for a night. Which is totally not worth.

Average hotel. Price was too high for average accommodations. Outdated rooms. Only good thing was free breakfast.

The convenience to reach the airport where they take you with a shuttle. Large, clean and classic American motel style room well maintained. Breakfast included but nothing of that! We found the presence of the Car Discount car rental counter used by us to move to Saguenay and Tadoussac. Friendly staff. Check out until 12:00 convenient. Present vending machines for drinks (x 4 $ beer must be requested at reception reception)

This hotel is not worth the Price. Firstly, the continental breakfast advertised is very mediocre compare to other hotels that advertise free breakfast. They have no protein in their breakfast which is not good, they have frozen waffles and 3 types of bread. Secondly, there is no WiFi connection in second floor rooms and when this was brought up to receptions attention, the girl said "Sorry we are booked so you can come in the lobby and use internet" and that's it. Room furniture is basic and worn out.

Will not stay again!!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL! If I could rate 0 I would! The manager and staff are the least considerate people! I booked the hotel to stay at on my way home to Ontario from Nova Scotia. Not even 30 minutes after my booking, my tire of my trailer fell off and I was stranded in New Brunswick for the night. I had to cancel the booking. I did not want to be stranded but I was. This was not my choice or my fault. Howard Johnson refuses to refund my money, I am out $100 plus the hotel fees for having to stay in New Brunswick. I gave them plenty of notice of the cancellation that day and I know they rebooked the room. They are money hungry and do not care if you are stranded in a different province. I will never book with Howard Johnson again! I am extremely upset and disappointed and if the people I talked with are any example of the staff at the hotel then your stay will be very unenjoyable! DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL!

3.5 Place is old but clean. Small Washroom. Take note, no Elevator. There is breakfast and unli coffee and tea.

TERRIBLE place to stay never again and BAD service. I called for info on regarding parking for 7 days, they told me it was $30, get there and charge me $45. Also when I called they told me free airport shuttle both ways. I Get there and they only offer shuttle service between 9am & 2pm. So I need to pay $40 of taxis for both ways. Room / carpet smelled and nothing upgraded, all old furnitures. Bed are very hard, it s like sleeping on the floor.
