Beautiful location in beautiful attractive building. Just a cup of coffee with some goodies. Definitely recommended to come back for lunch or dinner.

Very good downtown location and friendly and helpful staff. Somewhat confusing numbering of the rooms, which are very functional but stylish designed but on the whole very nice atmosphere, gladly again.

The location of the hotel is very well chosen. It is right in the city center and can reach within a maximum of 10 minutes walk to both cafes and restaurants and casinos. It is a pity that in the hotel room no fridge, otherwise everything is very clean and well maintained.

Snuggle up by the fireplace in a class location with a delicious high tea.

For tourists who like authenticity, this is definitely recommended.

It was a beautiful and luxurious high tea. Much for little money.

Nicely eccentric, this is one of the European gems of a hotel. No parking, but an undeground parkhouse is half a block away, you can't blame them for having nowhere to park in such a historic location. The various restaurants are all world-class, and the rooms full of period charm. Free wifi too. You won't be dissapointed. It is right in the middle of one of Europe's best cities too.

1st Easter brunch, unfortunately a disappointment, at 1230 the buffet opened, only half of the buffet was not there yet. Other tables were explained where the drink stood, when the desserts arrived and probably about the products of the buffet. Scanty choice. Bad organization. Because we had not received an explanation, we did not know that the desserts were yet to come, but by then our appetite was already foreseen. By the time we paid the bill we saw the desserts coming under our noses .... And coffee in thermos cans I no longer think of this time.

Large rooms. Elegant. No airco and noisy. The beds were too soft for me.

Very attractive hotel right in the center of Groningen. Neat, cozy room, good breakfast buffet, good restaurant and friendly and enthusiastic staff. Menu du chef in the brasserie is highly recommended! We would definitely return on a next visit to Groningen.

The breakfast is a simple but great. The bread, bread rolls, Croissants and cakesa are freshly made, as well as three different typs of eggs, delicious sausages and Bacon. The service is polite and good. The common room is more than More

The hotel is bad because it has huge maintenance, worn bed, from another hotel room they see you shower or go to toilet because there was a shortage of shower curtain hanging in front of the window. shower was just worn out. ramelende cooling using a fan.

Creaking floor, wonderfully enjoyed this ambiance in the heart of Groningen.

Minus point: difficult to find the way to hotel due to many one-way and cycle paths.

Its a cozy, classic style hotel. But it needs some maintenance ( painting ect.)

Very dirty. Other people's rubbish on the floor in a corner. Lighting of the night lamp and light therapy from jaccuzi did not work. Stains on curtains. Very shabby

Friendly staff. Good breakfast with quality coffees. The only 2 downsides were the very soft beds and the high number of people yelling at the streets at night.

Nice hotel, friendly person, food is tasty and affordable. Room itself adequate but a little maintenance is not bad.

Operation of the terrace is a symptom control ... walk behind the facts and the terrace is just not clean .. food residues where flies come and bread on the ground where the pigeons go after .. not really the atmosphere you are in are located. The food was nicely made up and tasty.

We got an room with a jacuzzi, the service was great. Clean room and friendly staff. Breakfast was also good, and we could leave our luggage in the hotel after checkout to enjoy a day in the city. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Would have liked to have had a high tea but the voucher that I had received for my birthday was only valid for one year and a few days late it was no longer accepted by this hotel. Too bad the hospitality leaves something to be desired .......

A very nice hotel for a weekend away. Shops and bars in walking distance.

We stayed in Groningen for a weekend in July ... great city, good hotel.
The 3 *** star hotel lived up to the expectations one can have.
The house is absolutely centrally located in the city ... with all the advantages and disadvantages.
It was really, really noisy on our weekend ... across the street from our room window, students had really loud parties on both nights. And since it was very hot, we couldn't close the windows ... but what the heck, we wanted to go to Groningen, and as a student city, this city is loud, lively, fresh ...
Our room was clean and good, no sterile hotel bunker architecture.
The breakfast buffet was also good, if (subjectively) a bit too expensive.
You can sit and relax in the inner courtyard.
The staff is, like all Dutch people, very nice, friendly and helpful.

Very charming boutique hotel in the center of Groningen with beautiful details such as painted ceilings and decor referring to the 18th century.
The room was spacious and clean, the bed perfectly comfortable.
What we enjoyed the most was the jacuzzi in a bathroom with stain glass windows - stunning!!
We'll definitely be back!

Nice classic hotel, the dinner and breakfast were really super tasty. It tasted like more. The hotel has received 4 stars because I value a good dinner and breakfast more than the hotel room. Because the hotel room had overdue maintenance and are very noisy. I would give the cozy hotel room 2 stars to 4 given by the delicious food.

We always come here with pleasure. The city of Groningen, the hotel staff and the beautiful rooms always complete our weekends here.

Stayed one night in this beautiful hotel. We were in a delightful, beautiful and characterful suite with a jacuzzi. We enjoyed the stay, the breakfast is also nothing to criticize, well arranged.

Our room wasn't that great. It looked outdated and needed lots of fixes in the bathroom and electric.
The beds we're good though.

Bathroom shower squirts so hard, the curtain flies everywhere which leaves a lot of water on the floor.

The hotel contains multiple buildings and our room was in a separate building which all in all is outdated. Other rooms will probably be better but our room was "Ok" for the one night we stayed here.

Very characteristic and beautiful hotel. Nice rooms, super friendly staff and a location within walking distance of everything in the center. There was only one drawback to our room, namely that behind our window was the street which caused a lot of noise in the night. At this point after really a super cool hotel!

Good room, only the bed lay through. The breakfast was good, there was enough choice. Zeet friendly staff.

If you love Posh. Or Camp. I do not know exactly. Past glory with an attractive inner garden. In the room it starts to fall apart a little and it takes an hour before the bubble bath is full. The hotel needs some attention, then it is worth the price.

Friday (18-10) we had a high tea with 4 women. We sat at a nice table in the brasserie. Beautiful surroundings and the service was very friendly.

A box of tea bags and jugs of hot water and that's it.
It is a pity that the chefs of the Schimmeplpenninckhuys do not pay more attention to this. At the checkout ( 78, - for four people) I saw a beautiful homemade apple pie. I would have liked a piece of that!

Photos on the internet suggest that you will come to a beautiful atmospheric hotel ..
What a disappointment. Small room, lack of maintenance throughout the hotel. Much worn out and not really clean.
Price - quality ratio is quite skewed .. not recommended.

Fine authentic hotel where hospitality is of paramount importance. Been twice this year and every time it is a pleasure to be here. The staff is attentive and very friendly. When my husband said he thought the 4-course dinner was a bit sparse in terms of quantity, we got a fantastic cheese board from the house. The food was also very good and prepared with care. We will definitely go again this year. Groningen is great and hotel Schimmelpennick makes it complete.

Looks well taken care off and the staff was ''nice'' but inpatient...
Also, We booked a room and paid in advanced the whole amount... HOWEVER when we got there they charged us extra 7.50 in cash....

The room was clean, and had toilet and a tub so that was nice...

A classic hotel with somewhat outdated rooms. The hotel is also very pleasant and perfect in terms of location. However, the staff in the cafe is slow and perhaps understaffed.

I had a single room, very small. The room had a sliding window. To keep the window open I had to put something in between. There was stale air in the room.

A real "mwoah" experience. To see that there is a lot of potential, but the black brigade was really on standby. Received and shown to the table instead of walking along, 5 course surprise menu but when we asked for suitable wines, they looked as if they saw water burning. 3 courses served without explanation, cheese platter with explanation only unfortunately wrong. Sainte-Maure de Touraine, for example, is not an old cheese but goat cheese. A pity because the kitchen certainly did its best and passed on delicious dishes.
