This is a review of the GB Smoking Lounge, not for the hotel itself.

Having had a large breakfast and a reasonable sized lunch we weren't feeling too hungry for supper. So we skipped straight to dessert at the GB Smoking Lounge. We were greeted warmly at the entrance by a lady who showed us to our seating.

We ordered a pastry and a chocolate mousse cake, along with tea. The pastry was fine but the cake was absolutely divine and worth the extravagance of the price and location by itself. The tea service reminded us of the one at the London Ritz.

The lounge is elegant and sumptuous, with a pianist playing in the background. Bit overkill for dessert but we enjoyed our surroundings as much as the food. I actually preferred the lounge to the Rooftop restaurant, the dessert was much better and I suspect the other food might be too.

The roof restaurand has an amazing view of the acropolis. The food and service exceptional. Best down town hotel in Athens. The spa is a must visit.

Beautiful views of the Acropolis, with a classy, tranquil ambience. Very nice spot to enjoy a sunset drink.

This place is beautiful however in 2016 it is ridiculous having to pay for wifi at a hotel considering you are paying at least $300/night

Exceptional Hotel, great location in the middle of Athens opposite Parliament with quick access to restaurants and clothing stores. Suite was well equipped. Welcome snacks and drinks upon arrival was superb. Breakfast restaurant on the rooftop had every food you could imagine, all fresh and delicious with an amazing view of the Acropolis. Service and staff was average. But all in all a great stay!

They dont call it a Luxury Collection for no reason, the Hotel Grande Bretagne is stunningly lavish with an amazing staff to complement! Location is situstioned right at Syntagma Square making it the perfect location to visit many attractions. Walkable distance to several museums, the National Garden, the Plaka, and the Acropolis. The rooms are beautifully decorated with comfortable furnishing and the bathrooms are enormous, nearly half the size of the rooms themselves. We had two rooms conjoined, one had a tub and shower while the other had a massive walkin shower (handicap accessible). All the sheets and linens were very plush and fresh which certainly gave us the luxury vibe. Hotel also had both a great fitness center and pool, all as expected and two restaurants. One in the main lobby and one on the top floor with an insane viewing experience. Service was top notch, bar none, truly impressed by the staff! Everyone was super helpful and made sure that our stay was nothing short of perfection. Without a doubt worth a stay whether you are using Amex SPG rewards points or cash. I am totally planning to stay here again the next time I visit Athens.

Luxurious and luxurious hotel.
Recommend the restaurant on the roof of the hotel. The food is delicious and the view of the Acropolis is amazing. Sit outside.

Great hotel experience in Athens.

The good:
Unbelievable view of Athens and the Acropolis from rooftop bar.
Decor and furniture are first class.
Great location in Athens.
Great service on any needs you might have.
Breakfast was fantastic!

The not as good:
It is an old school hotel, no doubt. Some luxuries like a bathroom fan to reduce humidity cannot be retrofitted into hotel... but wasn't much of an issue.
There was a conference with world leaders while we were there, security became somewhat of a pain. (although important to note that the world leaders picked there to stay)
Small riot broken up with tear gas outside on first day. Not too big of a deal.

Awesome stay and hospitality. Just needs a bigger pool area. Cigar bar with nancy was excellent.

This restaurant bar is located on the roof of Hotel Great Britain, and boasts a magnificent view of the Acropolis, the parliament on Constitution Square, and its service is unparalleled

Annual visit to enjoy coffee and dessert at my daughter's feast. Also friendly to children, as they brought us painting blocks and woodcarvings to keep the little one busy. Importance to detail ... Well !!!

Sick good place !!! You have the feeling that you are a princess from the entrance and the porter, the reception desk, the toilet .... Everything is top notch. It's worth every euro spent

Yes, the food is a bit naive, but it is a historic building that you must visit at least once. Alternatives: coffee or tea in the cafeteria on the ground floor where you will feel a bit like kings, or a cocktail at the rooftop bar with a spectacular view and a perfect setting. Yes, you will pay dearly, but the experience is worth it!

You must have breakfast and dinner at the roof top bar. The views of the Acropolis in the morning and night are something you will never forget. Just think, when you view the Acropolis you are viewing the history of western civilization! Some of the greatest figures of our past walked among those buildings.

Another great hotel in Athens.

Fantastic location, great view and good but not great service. Prices are at the higher end (a glass of ok wine at 12eur). People at our visit was definitely neuvo rich wannabes.

Hotel with history and classic luxury but not loaded but functional, impeccable care by staff on all levels, and the roof garden dream at night, as well as massage services, sauna, swimming pool and of course branded gifts for friends. .!

Amazing food in all restaurants and excellent cocktails in all bars!!! All the areas located in the hotel are unique decorated with a sense of another time!!! High Quality service from the professional stuff of the hotel and very friendly!! A hotel that you have to visit of you live in Athens or visit Athens..

Excellent service, comfort and large size rooms never go out of style. This is a global classic. Will only add to what will always be an exciting visit to Athens. Rooftop restaurant is good, every seat has beautiful views to the Acropolis, spectacular at night.

Good hotel with a fantastic view from the rood restaurant.

Amazing brilliant so good for elegance. Just not cozy enough for me because they focused too much on the 'richer' side of things. There couldn't be less of a shower in my room and even though the bathroom is big you might have thought you would get a bit of space around the sink. Come as a couple. Or a family of 3 max unless you book a very bog room or suite. Coming in big groups is great but book at 1 room per 2 people if on a budget. Stay for at least a week so you can do everything around the hotel.

The hotel itself is spectacular and the restaurant upstairs has an amazing view, a great cocktail mixer and delicious food.

It is very little that you say about this hotel. Words are superfluous. Absolute courtesy of staff, serving in all its splendor.

Visited the cafe in the lobby - attentive staff, decent cocktail selection and nice desserts although a restricted choice of desserts without nuts which isn't great if you are allergic. Reccomend for a great atmosphere - obviously expect a price tag though.

Love this place. My favourite dining restaurant on the 8th. Staff so kind! Just the door man at the hotel entrance is always grumpy. Never smiles and obviously hates his job. Poor man.

Beautiful and luxurious hotel, in default, anyone who gets into the elevator can go to any floor without a special card. The elevator system needs to be modernized. Otherwise, wonderful spaces, all courtesy!

An oasis of luxury in an Athens hit by a crisis difficult to overcome.

Warm and classy ambience accompanied by classic piano tunes! The spa area is very large with lots of wellness options and great staff! The unmatched suites lure you into another season!

Always regal. The rooftop is grand. That alone is worth it.

Extremely high end, centrally located and expensive. The rooms are very nice and the rooftop pool is cool. Being able to see the Acropolis from the restaurant is also really a nice sight.

We visited it for food. Terrible feeling of another era, the staff very patient and trained.
