I came for the weekend to the sauna and pool, but these do not have the minimum conditions for their use.

Classic hotel, with charm and above all a lot of kindness from the team

The stay was pleasant, in this time of pandemic. However, I emphasize 2 less positive aspects, the fact that the direction signs to the main entrance are not well identified and the rooms do not have some facilities such as an iron and a hairdryer. Less positive points for the fifth star

The site is unbeatable and beautiful. The hotel has everything you can ask for and the spacious and terracotta rooms with sea views. If you have to put a hit, is that it is staying somewhat old

Breakfast was the only thing I really enjoyed. Small bathroom, bedroom with tiny TV. I did not think it was a 4 star hotel by the hotel, I would say it was a 3 star hotel already to draw quite a bit.

In need of works. My room was filled with water. Mature friend had to change rooms for the same reason.

We have had a very negative experience. The positive kindness of the staff. Room 105 is assigned to us, and on the way we observe that access is like a gloomy place. With 2 large suitcases and other luggage, you had to walk down 14 steps. The room lacked air conditioning, a safe, the mini fridge made a lot of noise, it did not fit between the toilet and the bathtub, the balcony opened onto a large common terrace, with which the balconies communicated between them, but more, is that you could access the room directly from the street without any control by the hotel. We complained about the air conditioning, they would take note. The next day we complained again and they said we had no arrangement so we would have to stay with that room. After a while they call us and change our room, 217, just over 105. Total change. That same day they start to install air conditioning machines in the rooms from 101 to 105, we have noise from drills and blows until 12 at night, the next day until 8 in the afternoon and the next until 6 in the morning. late. You could not rest in the afternoon because of those noises. And we asked ourselves, knowing that those rooms did NOT have air conditioning, because they assigned them to the clients? or if they were going to install the air conditioning, because they were assigned to the customers ?, or maybe we were the ones who forced the situation ?. My recommendation for clients is that they refuse to stay in rooms 101 to 107, mainly because it is accessed directly from the outside without control and because going down and up those 14 steps with luggage is very complicated. And in high season, if you get to park in the parking lot, do not move the car.

Very nice stay in Hotel Do Mar. The view and the setting are tops. The staff is very smiling and friendly, also multilingual so communication is easy. Big plus point for breakfast, which is varied and can satiate until the afternoon. The access to the beach is also very convenient.
The little ones I would have liked to find: the hotel would benefit from offering shuttles that allow access to the surrounding tourist points for non-transported travelers (eg: Sesimbra Castle, Arrabida Park). It is true that the rooms are beginning to look outdated, although it is still suitable. Overall, the Do Mar hotel is very nice place to stay.

We stayed here by surprise as due to a mix up we ended up with an extra night in Portugal. We chose this place for the location, price, and reviews. Sesimbra is a beautiful town to explore by foot and the location of this hotel makes it so easy. The staff are all so kind and accommodating. The rooms are quaint and cozy, ours had a darling balcony overlooking the pool and beach. We split a bottle of wine on the deck bar one night and had such a great time looking out at the beach and watching the sunset. The breakfast in the morning was delicious as well.
Some reviews state the decor, rooms, and hotel is dated, but really the hotel has just maintained its original charm and integrity. It is not the newest, sleekest, fanciest place- but it is a perfect place to stay at.

The age of the enterprise is well known. Weak breakfast. Extraordinary view from the bar.

A little dated indoor pool

Close to the city center and at the foot of the beaches. Breakfast very rich, sweet and savory at will. Soundproof room and warm welcome.

Very well located, great smells and good outside space. As far as facilities are concerned, these do not correspond to a 4 * hotel, very small rooms and cleaning problems. The dinner buffet is very expensive compared to the dishes available, one of meat and one of fish, and medium low-fat cooking. Staff need extra encouragement as far as sympathy is concerned.

The Hotel is far from being a 4 star. Needs to be renovated got a little stopped in time. Valley for the proximity of the beach, pool. Food service is reasonable. It would be a good 3 stars.

Vista explendida ... Pena to be with such high prices in the bar ... If it had more affordable prices would surely have more customers ... That view and the friendliness of the bar staff deserved more movement.

The pros: great location, great views of the sea, room was clean, staff friendly. The cons: the hotel is old and dated, maintenance is required for many things, hallways are dingy and lighting is poor. The restaurant was noisy and the coffee was terrible. Wifi was horrible too, couldn't load many pages, often had to switch to cell service to connect.

very good stay. Super clean, the 2 top pools, excellent price depending on the location (facing the sea), I loved being there and my husband too. Congratulations, the hotel is 50 years old, a beautiful grandmother.

Very well located, almost direct access to the beach. Good rooms, comfortable beds. It misses by the lack of a pool with intermediate measures outside. Snack bar also leaves a lot to be desired

The hotel has a good view, good hygiene, the peace and quiet of the holidaymakers during the specified hours (clean with a vacuum cleaner, cleaning the restaurant, scraping tables and chairs, etc.) and for the food well prepared, but only one kind , I definitely do not like it. :(

Great Location, Magnificent View, but that's not all. Weak rooms in terms of general conditions for the Hotel's grandeur, Breakfast with artificial orange juice !? The value is ridiculously high for the state of the Hotel, yet still worth it for the Location and the views.

Old hotel - the first hotel in Sesimbra. but in very good condition.The reception is on the last ninth floors the rooms are down to the beach. Very polite staff. The view is to the ocean.

An old hotel with completely worn out furniture. There is no way this hotel has 4 stars. We arrived and got a room in the older part of the hotel. All furniture could only be described as bulky waste. We complained immediately (tour guide, etc.) and got a better room the next day. Still not recommended. Breakfast totally monotonous. 14 days the same cheap sausage and cheese. Coffee inedible.
Only at the reception you pretend you have a 4 star hotel.
In our opinion, they try to get the most out of the hotel and invest as little as possible.

A hotel of low class and unprofessional because it was fooled by it because I had a reservation from day 1 of 9 to 4 days from 17 to 21 and paid with confirmation and boxer in hand and when I arrived at the hotel ne said that the agency had it I canceled the reservation at 13 and I made a trip of 485 km and not even warned me nor to this day the money is not in my account is a broloes company beware of this hotel and the companies that work with them

Wow! Love this place! Everything was fabulous. The facilities, pool, beach, restaurant, and the view - outstanding!
Spotlessly clean and well organized. The staff is very helpful and caring. A wonderful stay. Highly recommend.
P.S. Visiting the castle above the hotel is well worth the trip. Take a taxi to the top if you don't have a car. The view is incredible!

Old school hotel with a lot of steps, dark hallways and complicated elevators but all is forgiven with the view from the restaurant and the outdoor pool. Amazing.

Hotel with very outdated structures. Tiny, cold rooms, with outdated decor and very uncomfortable, namely with wooden shutters that let the cold out. The indoor pool does not have support chairs, which makes it difficult to play, especially with children. Breakfast at the level of any 3 star hotel. It leaves much to be desired.

Old but nice hotel, with an excellent location, in the city center and next to the beach. Good service from the staff. The food is great, buffet service with fish and meat platter. It has a good garden with well-tended lawns, a pool for the little ones and another one for adults with a 4.7m well in the center where it is possible to practice diving on Wednesday.

It is a wonderful vintage place. The hotel stopped in time and that is the reason for its charm. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The furniture and paintings through out of the hotel make you travel to the gold age of summer vacations by the sea in the 50's and 60's. Love it!!!

Very good cleaning service. Very calm. Large rooms and quiet rooms, although they would need a remodel, are somewhat outdated. And all with sea views. Wonderful!!

Well located, a great hotel to spend a few days of vacation, an impressive structure. A very hearty breakfast with lots of variety. Spectacular employees and an extraordinary view.

Wi-Fi sometimes weak
Television with little choice of channels, and those that there was leaves a lot to be desired for anyone who wants to watch a bit of TV
The gym should have a more flexible schedule, since during the day the person passes by the pool or beach.

A huge hotel. Very well maintained, friendly staff, courteous and helpful. The house is over 50 years old. This is noticeable in some places. We noticed it with the saunas. I felt I was back in my school days. More importantly, the house has at least 250 beds. That is, I go to dinner at the wrong time, it is full and hectic. Still ok for one night.

Although you already have a few friends, it's still a good alternative for a quick getaway ...
