Finding a place to chill in the night & found Hops...

Finding a place to chill in the night & found Hopscotch at their newest hideout at Gillman Barracks.

Was abit hungry when I arrived so i ordered mushroom risotto ($16). Serving is fine but not for the very hungry ones like me. It was hearty and flavourful, just wished there was more Portobello mushroom slices as I am a mushroom lover.

Their drinks menu was interesting. Tried several of their drinks & they do not disappoint. Below are some drinks which I explored, I might have forgotten what else I've ordered.

Wanting something a little stronger, I dived into the Ice Man ($23). This cocktail is served in a cute Tiki mug. Fresh calamansi and citrus are infused into the drink and it is served with almond jelly, mango roll-up, dehydrated pineapple, Amarena cherry and Angostura and orange bitters mist. Inspired by old-school Singaporean shaved-ice desserts, we were told that this drink pays homage to the uncles from the traditional dessert store .

Also tried the Hopscotch Secret Remedy ($23) which contains Pipagao, it was interesting and nice for someone like me who likes the taste of cough syrup.

To get a proper review, I also ordered the Kungfu Hustle ($22), it was a interestly strong and citricsy drink which was served in an anicent chienese wine vat & bowl.

Ambience was chill, staffs were friendly, even the patrons there too. Would visit again to chill.

A good place to have comfort food and afew drinks with friends at a good ambience place and also for those who fancy the outdoors to see the starry night. There's also table top games to play with friends. They have a rather wide selection of drinks. Make a trip down you won't forget your time there. A must try is their House Special Wings.

Cosy outdoor environment with friendly staff. However, do bring mosquito repellent if taking outdoor seats.

Food was however average and overly salty. Price is above average. Good for chill out though.

Seemingly quiet location but was surprised to see that it was full house. Be sure to reserve in advance for even a weekday dinner. Free parking within Gillman barracks which was an added bonus for us.

Food was average for the price levels. Entertainer app deal made is ok...

Really good food. Ordered the lamb skewer and it was a juicy lamb chop that isn't bloody, one the best I had ever. Tried an assortment of skewers and they were all great.

The cocktail menu is so interesting. Come with an open mind and have some adventure. We would have ordered more but we had to stay sober and tried the Secret Remedy. It was sweet and refreshing with rum. And of course good for the throat. Highly recommend this place for the fun cocktails. If you are just looking for the usual, this place isn't for you.

The food was great. Nice ambient atmosphere but service took ages to get our drinks. Service really slow. Waiters are doing their best and are friendly but the place seems to be understaffed. If it wasnt for the slow service i would have given 4 or 4.5 stars.

One of the worst service ever. My friends and I made an online reservation to try their food and beverages. They open at 5:30pm. We were there at 5:25pm. As there wasn't any customer. I asked whether we could get indoor seating as outside was filled with mosquitoes. The service staff informed us that they are fully booked and outside tables need time prep due to earlier rain. We said okay and waited patiently till 6pm. Till then, no staff bothers to bring us the menu. At 6:05pm, one of the staff told me that the place was fully booked and I only can get the high chair seating area. (1) the whole place was empty, not a single customer except us. (2) We made an online reservation, so what do you mean by fully booked?

My friends and I will probably never visit this place again. Poor service and attitude. Do note, making an online reservation doesn't guarantee a seat. So there is no point for that reservation.

Amazing food. Ordered White Sands cocktail, it s interesting and fancy! There was dry ice coming out of the plate in the beginning. The shell is so nice!

Some food items were not available, but we ordered Beer Battered Fish & Chips - fish was very fresh and nicely battered. Truffle Furikake Linguine was flavourful and unique.

Will definitely be back! :-)

Secluded and chic joint to unwind and relax. Friendly service. Me and my partner both had medium rare steak and it was decent. We enjoyed their unique purplish side sauce that accompanied the steak. There isn't many indoor steps so reservations are recommended if you prefer indoor seating.

Quaint little place. Loved the outdoor seating.

Quaint little place. Loved the outdoor seating.

Drinks were interesting concoctions - I believe there's something for everyone. Each drink has a little accompanying quirk - from muah Chee to candy floss to pickles... though a little small so this is really about artisanal savouring.

Good oysters too, but mostly bar food so don't come here if you're ravenous.

Made a reservation on Chope and was still made to sit outside. Thankfully, the weather was pleasant that day. Waited 45 minutes for the food -- we had the risotto, halibut and burger; portions are measly and food quality poor considering the amount you're paying to dine at a small place like this. For $24++, the halibut was shockingly bad with a frozen fish taste, and my friend's beef burger to be done at Medium came out rare and uncooked in the middle. Service staff didn't seem the least bit concerned or apologetic that the food came delayed and were of poor standard. Again, perplexed as to how this place manages such great reviews as we're so disappointed by the overall experience. We definitely won't be returning, but hopefully, the team takes our feedback positively and makes some changes. Perhaps if you were to come here, stay away from the mains.

A very well thought-out place. Conceptually interesting and tasty cocktails, and very tasty food! Prices are also reasonable. Lots of seating outside, and quite a bit inside as well. Lots of board games on offer (Monopoly, Jenga, Battleship, Sushi Go, and others).

Cozy casual place for drinks. Also had their grilled meats which were good too. The happy hour pricing was reasonable and was pleasantly surprised by the cute presentation of the specialty cocktails - great if you love alcohol and have a sweet tooth. A fun and interesting experience overall (:

you know how people always say that when it looks good, it doesn't taste good? but nope! it's not true @ Hopscotch Bar! I came to know of this place through a friend's recommendation and had a couple of their cocktails all in a night. instagrammable drinks + unique taste with local flavours. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to experience something different!

but it's sad they will be closing doors at red dot in a few week's time. you heard it right. closing doors but not closing Hopscotch:)

Till then! keep rocking that unique drinks and customer service guys!

Dry ice cocktail, Alcoholic Yakult and excellent burger! Very interesting concept, bringing together local flavors and cocktails. I had the white sands which was dry ice blended with the cocktail, excellent for this sunny Singapore. Cloud Nine was like an alcoholic yakult, just boozy. Brings back childhood memories!

Will be coming back and trying out their bespoke cocktails the next time I'm here!

I love the place. Have returned there 2 times already. Will definitely be back.

Cocktails- not to be missed. My favorite kungfu hustle. Order based on liking and the very descriptive menu.

Appetizers- not all skewers are good. My top picks flank steak lamb and chicken. I'm not the biggest fan of their skewers. Things are a tad sweet for me in terms of the marinade. chipotle sausage is pathetic steer clear. Calamari is chewy n stringy to be avoided.

Main course- my favorite at the place. Absolutely brilliant. Tried 3 dishes.
The rib eye is amazing.
The pork ribs are gorgeous.
The seabass is subtle in flavors but decent
Chicken roulade to be avoided-dry rubbery and heated in a microwave kind. Skip it.

Seating is cramped and destroys the otherwise chic ambience of the place. On a rainy day u will be stranded. Staff is very polite and a good bunch of guys.

The vibe and outdoor seatings were nice for a chill-out time on Friday nights. But the quality of the food turned the mood around 180 degrees.
Ordered 3 skewers since they were on the front page of the menu and said to be marinated with house-made sauce. Baby potatoes and the $4 beef steak (came to be three bite-size cubes of grilled beef on a skewer) were decent.
However, I would urge the eatery to reconsider having the $6 grilled whole squid on the menu at all. Reasons being: (i) if diners were meant to savory the pure flavors of char-grilled seafood, the first bite shocked us with only taste of a burnt lumpy squid; otherwise, (ii) they completely forgot to marinate the squid before grilling, period.
Sadly unimpressed on my first, likely last visit.

Waited more than 45 minutes for skewers, chicken wings and mushroom risotto. Lobster bisque didn t even come after an hour of waiting. Food was good but definitely not worth the wait. My advice is to put your name on the waiting list for Burgerlabo nearby, come here for drinks and then leave when your table is ready.

Never made a review before but I really must say:

Great service and even greater food/cocktails. Was there over the weekend a few weeks back with a couple of friends. Initially dropped by via chance over the weekdays and we got hooked. Do make a reservation early though as I've heard they are usually full house by mid week.

Pros:
- Great Service, look for jess or vek, they took care of us really well, 10/10. Service recovery on point, we waited almost an hour for food and upon billing out, jess gave us a 10% for the long wait. Honestly we could have done without it, we were enjoying ourselves too much. Even conversation with both was so natural. Really dislike places where one feels everything is very robotic, esp staff.
- Mouth watering Burgers, we had a medium rare Wagyu Burger and Butter cereal prawn Burger, daresay it's better than another burger place I know of.
- Unique local inspired cocktails, really what you see is what you get from their menu, I strongly recommend the Kung-fu Hustle and White Sands for first timers.
- Happy hour is really worth it, cocktails at $15 til 8.30pm, what more can one ask for?
- Custom cocktails totally blew us away, their long island twists are one of the best we have ever had, and it's also at $15 during Happy Hour!
- Playlist guys ! Was there on a few different days and it is always different. From Rod Stewart to 90's to soothing ballads on quieter days.
- Outdoor seating, super chill vibes, only downside is the mosquitos but jess was very kind to offer us mosquito repellant and coil. Do request if you want indoors as their indoor seating is really limited!
- Truffle fries, even better than most high end restaurants, and the best thing it is only $10, recommended to share over 2 people.
- Above and beyond honestly, we made a reservation on Sat afternoon to be placed on a waiting list. started to rain shortly after and was informed that if the rain got any heavier they won't be able to host as majority of their seating is outdoor, but we said we would wait. What other places lets you know in advance ?

Cons:
- 10.30pm cutoff, hopefully phase 3 comes in soon because they used to be open till 1am.
- Mosquitoes, then again, there's some outbreak going on.
- Slightly long waiting time for food over the weekends, due to it being really packed, but vvek did let us know that food will take a bit of time
- A little inconvenient if it rains, their outdoors are not that sheltered.
- smoking area is the entire outdoors, one of my friends is a little sensitive to the smell, suggest they have a proper smoking area
- Change of menu soon! So grab while you still can, although I'm really excited for their next drinks menu
- 1030 CUTOFF. AM TRULY SAD ABOUT THAT.

Overall, 10/10 would visit again and bring more friends along. Truly an experience!

This place is located at the heart of Gillman barracks. The ambient is super chill with live music at night.I would come here for a night weekday out with coworkers or friends to enjoy some drinks and food. What I would recommend to have are steak, razor clams (super cheap). The price to value for here is great.

Overall I would rate this place with the following:

Location: 6/10
Ambient: 9/10
Taste: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Price: 8/10

Love the Truffle Mash, the Steak cooked to medium perfectly but the spinach that goes with it super salty. Foie gras can't go wrong, grilled Oyster not really for me I would prefer it more raw but my friends likes it. The fried food and other stewers so so.

Oysters came with lemon that was bad (was brown in color). They were very stingy with the sauce that came with the oysters. Their pisco sour was made well but.. the egg white had a pungent smell. Probably a bad egg was used. With the price..you'd think they could afford a fresh egg. The skewers were good but overpriced for the amount given. The eggplant was totally charred on one side.. and funnily was cold when I ate it.
