Just stopped in for a drink since I had an appointment nearby, but the staff was very nice, the service was rapid and the food smelled heavenly. Definitely plan on getting dinner when I have more time in the area

Location is awful because parking gets full fast. I've never seen this place not busy which is good for the establishment. However, I've been to many bbq places and the meat is on the dry side. The sauces and sides some what make up for it and I wouldn't mind going back with a bunch of my friends and family. Group and family friendly place. Locals go crazy for this spot!

This BBQ Joint is exceptional, everything is done with love and it shows in this phenomenal food. The Brisket is to die for, and it's usually very crowded, and they can quickly run out of the favorites, so get there early!

My wife and I found Hoodoo Brown while we were visiting Prospect Theater almost a year and a half ago. We live 2 and 1/2 hours away and we have returned 3 times since. We love the pulled pork and the smoked turkey from there. The jar of bacon is awesome, the macaroni and cheese is very yummy also. The collard greens are also good just need a little more seasoning and could be cooked a little longer but still yummy.

We went last night and it was very disappointing. Waitress was confused and slow. The food was fair at best and I hesitate to say that because everyone left with a stomach aches. The mac n cheese was the worst I have ever had, the cornbread was dry and stale. No need to go out of the way to try this place

I love this restaurant! They have splendid dishes, they have a rich menu, The chef in that place is well trained, I enjoy very much tasting all their dishes. The food is always tasty, the attitude towards the guests is good. I go often to this restaurant and I not even once was disappointed. I recommend it to all my friends.

The food was very good. The brisket and pull pork was my favorite. We had to wait for about 25min to get seated but it's worth the wait. It's very cozy and the staff were very friendly. Definitely will be returning.

Awesome food. Great staff. Wish they accept reservations for everyone. Place opened at 11:30am and we got there at 11:35am and we had an hour wait. Some people who arrived after 12pm had a 3 hour wait. It's obvious that the food is that good it's worth the wait. I would recommend a paging system. This place is a goldmine. Owners should consider a bigger place or another location.

I thought I was missing out on something amazing but this was terrible.... the 3 sides we ordered were disgusting, the 4 meats we ordered were just ok definitely not worth $70! I will never go back there again!

Just delicious, had ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and Mac and cheese for the family. Ordered on phone which took 4 calls to get through so be patient it is worth it. Order was hot and ready in time frame promised.

Great food. The pulled pork was a little dry, but the BBQ sauce on the table made up for that. Service was a little slow but then again it's a relaxed BBQ place so that's not too surprising

I grew up in the south (Tallahassee) and have to say...Delicious pulled pork and more. I always stop in to grab something after mommy and me nails at the salon around the corner. There's never anything left to share with the boys. Great restaurant or you can take out in less than 10/15 min. Best BBQ around.

I visited Hoodoo on a Friday night. It was super busy but once we were seated we had a fun experience. Our waiter was very friendly. The food was pricey but tasty and you got plenty. We will definitely be going back.

On the pricey side, but their meats are good. Be careful with the take out service; telephone order experience is for some reason rather difficult, no online ordering option which nowadays seems to be rather inconvenient, especially given the quality of the phone service.

Make sure to check your order while picking it up; yesterday I found out at home that pork belly and one of the large sides were missing - $20 worth of food missing, not a great experience. I have dined and ordered their food at least 10x, nevertheless, yesterday put me off, as when it gets busy, they struggle to deliver. Tons of potential, but Service and customer care needs to be improved.

That I haven't put down a review for this instamt classic is a shocker....honestly the main issue is that the food is sooooo good I never get a chance to photograph it lol. If it's the giant dense blocks of fantastic cornbread or the smoked sausage links....the rub on the brisket or the charred bark on the ribs this place hits on all the notes. They have an eclectic menu with unique apps and desserts a friendly and personable staff paired w/a down home themed decor and a bar that slings some mean drinks....really what more could you ask for?? Don't believe me? Come down and give it a try or better yet check out this lil teaser pic of their brisket sandwich!

Yummy!

Was there Saturday at 5:45. Expect 1 to 1/2 hours waiting if you go the or later. Drinks while we were waiting on the weak side. But once your seated and can order, you' d have been wise to bring your biggest appetite. Everything is delicious but the brisket is awesome. Would have given 5 stars if not for the parking and the wait.

A Hard No. I went to a Whole Hog pig roast event that was catered by Hoodoo Brown, and I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the experience. The food was late coming out, was overly salted to cover a mediocre job of preparation and the attitude of the restaurant staff was bad. The event began at 12 noon and ended at 5pm, with the food served at 1pm this was advertised in the invitation and registration. When we arrived at 12 and sat down, we were surprised that there was no food or grill setup but assumed that the restaurant was bringing the food prepared and in trays for service at 1 as promised. Nope. After setting up a stove with hot coals right near the corn hole boards, setting up serving tables, bringing the whole split hog to the venue, reheating it or keeping it up to temp on the hot coals on a grill and and generally getting their act together, it was 2:30 before food was served. And just before serving, they made a show of chopping up the meat on a table and pouring salt all over the meat. The result was overly salted, not very flavorful pork, served by staff that didn t look thrilled to be there. When a friend mentioned that the food was scheduled to come out at 1, the person in charge replied the pig s done when the pig s done . No apology, no smile, nothing. To top it off, when we asked for napkins (it s a barbecue) they said they had none. Needless to say, it didn t impress me. I ll give this place a pass.

Went to Hoodoo Brown BBQ last night for dinner at 5:30pm was told it would be approx an hour wait. I kept checking in with the hostess as to where we were on the wait list. I had a pretty good idea how many parties were ahead of us. At approx the 1:30 mark a party comes walking in and had just come from the Yankees game all laughing and joking about that they had called their buddy and would get seated immediately and probably won't even have to pay. ( Hoodoos has a no reservation policy on groups smaller than 10) Sure enough a guy other than the hostess comes over and jokingly loud calls the group to their table This started a vocal questioning by a gentleman that had arrived after we did. Several more parties were called and I went to the hostess and asked again when we would be seated she let out a gasp and said I'm so sorry you will be next. We were a party of 5, 4 adults and a 2 year old child and she seats us at a hightop table in the bar. Lets put a 2 year old on a hightop stool, so one of us basically had to stand next to him to make sure he didn't fall off. I went and spoke to the hostess and she just stared like a deer in the headlights rambling I'm sorry. Food was ok but the experience cancelled out any pleasure the food would have given. 2 hours from door to get a table. Total BS there was a note on the menu that if you have a problem please speak up before posting I did and it didn't matter to the hostess so this is my review not sure what would ever get me back.

Worst experience ever!!! Long waits, bad service, poorly managed and pricey $$$$.

Took my family, wife's first time, waited for an hour to be seated, ordered our food, took Forty-five minutes for our food to arrive, that's after we complained to our waitress, who kept saying "your food will be out shortly".

Kiddies ordered the pulled pork with coleslaw, I the same, my wife a salad and my son had a side of fries with his meal. Meat (pulled pork) was on a bare tin pan, in one pile, all together, no brown paper for protection, next to the meat was two pieces of corn bread, look a bit mundane, coleslaw was on separate tin pan, again no brown paper, wife's salad was separate warm to the touch, fries where separate and cold.

Looked like the cook or person preparing the food got upset, through it all together on the tin pan and said here to the waitress.

Now I would have expected that the meal would have followed suit to how we ordered our food, e.g. 1/2 pound pulled pork, coleslaw and corn bread on a tin pan with brown paper between the food and the tin pan, etc., as each had ordered, as experience previously.

When we brought this to our waitress attention, she gave us the song and dance about being a family plate. When we question her response, she got nervous and said let me get the manager. That took another five minutes.

Manager was of little help, a bit obtuse, didn't really have the understanding of what seemed to be the problem; 1) Forty-five minutes to get something that is already cooked, that takes minimal time to prepare, 2) food that you are about to eat is sitting on a tin pan with zero protection (no brown paper) between food and tin pan and 3) no presentation experience, food plopped in a pile very mundane looking and this meal will end up costing between $70-80 bucks. Come on! Get real.

Couldn't take it any more...we agreed, as a family, to take our business to Prime Burger in town where we had the best burger ever and laughed about the experience.

Hope your experience is better than ours.

Food was fantastic as usual, but I had a few issues with my order. I was missing a few items I had ordered for takeout. So I waited again for those items to be prepared. When I got home I found out there was another item that wasn't in the order that I hadn't caught. Make sure you check your order before leaving takeout!

We recently moved to the area and stubbled upon this amazing place!!! If you are looking for BBQ, look no further! We fell in love with this OUTSTANDING restaurant. The food is beyond anything we could have imagined and what makes it better is that it is ALWAYS consistently amazing. Hands down the best BBQ in the world. Hoodoo Brown owns the crown! You will NOT be disappointed!

Thanks. We drove over from Albany NY. A friend of ours is a BBQ guy. He showed me a picture of the Bloody Mary with pork and my wife and I were sold.

I have to say this place was awesome. The pork is not oversmoked like some places do. It's just the right amount. The service, food, pricing and portions were all spot on.

If I was to make a suggestion, which I'm sure you read or maybe not. Server the cornbread warm with butter. That's it!!

Great place. Will definitely visit again in future. Thanks for the hard work!!

This was hands down the best BBQ I have ever had in CT. The service is fast and friendly too. A little pricy but worth every penny. We had to wait for a table, but it was well worth the wait!

I've always been curious about this place having driven by it numerous times and I'm glad I did but unfortunately I probably won't be coming back. The fried green tomatoes - amazing! The BBQ - solid but not memorable. We had the brisket and the pulled pork and both lacked enough flavor and were a little on the dry side. Not bad bbq by any means, I've just had much better. The actual place was really cool, great vibe, lots of seating, upscale decor. I would just rather have grime on the walls, blah decor and naughty delicious BBQ on my plate.

As a Fairfield County native I can say with 1000% certainty there is no other place that can touch how good their food is, their passion for BBQ great drinks and service! Their deserts are AMAZING as well - and you can tell they are homemade!! **Definitely try the Turkey! I also think their COBB Salad is amazing! Pork Belly instead of Bacon :) Also love their nachos with their homemade cheese sauce - I am obsessed with their cheese sauce.

Chicken, bacon, and pulled pork. Those were my top three. All smoked perfectly. While the brisket and pork belly were too fatty for my taste, the rest of my large party raved about them. The pulled pork nachos were also a super tasty appetizer. I would definitely come back again!
