There's very little not to like about Hoodoo. Decor is low key but gets the job done with family seating. Can be a little loud and chaotic on weekends. Usually a small wait time if you come during the rush. The specials never fail to impress, and burnt ends night is Friday, and you should definitely try them. Good beer selection too.
10 stars out of 5. Food was awesome! Staff friendly and engaging.
Excellent portions and good service, food is good as long as you like smoky bbq
It s worth the wait! Authentic bbq with real flavor and fair prices.. I highly recommend the pork belly! It s mind blowing
Some of the best chicken wings you will have. Get the cajun wings. You won't regret it.
This is the third times they missing my foods with full of charge. I called them then they promised to refund money on missing food but they didn't.
I've had legit BBQ across the south and Texas. This is about close as I've come to that quality in CT. You can test a BBQ grill based on its brisket and Hoodoo Brown's brisket tastes like Freedom.
One of the best restaurants I ve been great food!!!
Very good food and good service at a good price. Highly recommend
Great BBQ and 2nd time i have been there. LOVE the PORK Belly!!! They do not disappoint and would always recommend it.
So good! Even brought my aunt that grew up in Texas and she was impressed!
This place is unreal we ordered the table breaker you better be hungry. I went there thinking ah this is going to be another one of these regular BBQ place's WELL IT'S NOT. This place is great.
I can't believe I've lived in CT all this time and hadn't tried this place. The food is fantastic, the sauces are awesome because they really do enhance the flavor of the meat instead of masking it like some sauces do, and the service was next level. Special thanks to Becca at the front who helped us out with a large group of uncoordinated people - you rock!
Glad someone at work recommended this place - now I have a nice solution when I need a BBQ fix.
Best BBQ in the area by far. Great beer and cocktail selection too.
You have to get there early. They ran out of ribs the last time I was there and Corn.
Must have BBQ in Connecticut... Period. All the meats are excellent, with the dictionary sized piece of heaven beef rib, and the brisket being my favorite. The nachos with brisket are awesome, and the BBQ variety of the smoked chicken wings are absolutely ridiculously good. My only ding to them, is what's taking so long to buy out the building next door and making it bigger so I dont have to wait so long to get in..
Best BBQ in the east coast. I love this place. You will not be disappointed! A++ The beef rib, brisket and brisket nachos are AMAZING.
Bit of a wait, always seems to be busy, but absolutely worth the wait. Great support staff!
We have been going to Hoodoo Browns for sometime and have never been disappointed (except sometimes the wait times are long)
But yesterday, my respect for the restaurant grew even more.
I ordered something for a takeout. I drove 30 minutes to get to the location to find out they did not have the main ingredient in stock for my order, so they couldn't make it . Since they had a lot calls, they couldn't locate my number.
Chris, profusely apologized gave me a whole lot of sides for free and on top of that gave me $25 gift certificate, while still apologizing.
Then refused my tip. I felt bad and forced the tip in the tip jar.
Folks its the best BBQ place in CT! Try it, you will NOT be disappointed!
Thank you Chris and Hoodoo Brown for making it a destination!
The best BBQ in Connecticut, great service, decent beer list and has a real Texas feel and good sauces. Worth the trip.
Fantastic BBQ! At first, the menu looked small, but then I realized that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I wanted everything! The brisket was smoked perfectly and the rub was very good. The Carolina Brown BBQ sauce was out of this world. The cornbread, baked beans, and potato salad were superb. I will definitely come back.
A little disappointed as they were out of Crackling Pork Belly, Smoked Turkey, Brisket and Smoked Ribs. Otherwise good.
HooDoo Brown BBQ is my constant craving. There's never a time I don't want their delicious smoked turkey, incredible brunch or to die for drinks! The only down side is they are always jammed packed and parking can be an issue. However, they are well worth the wait! True (food) Love!
Hoodoo is the real deal. Ribs falling off the bone, brisket with smoke ring etc etc. I regularly travel 1.5 hrs from NJ for this mind blowing Que.
Disappointing. I ordered takeout, which has its own separate little area, on a cold winter noon. The food came quick enough and I was soon on my way, full of the high expectations online reviews and the pretty steep prices engendered.
The food was edible, not anything to write home about for sure. The sides and salad: extortionate.
Service was polite and professional. Still, my search for good barbeque in the area will have to continue as I won't be back.
The best barbeque I have experienced in the northeast!
Disappointed. Brisket sandwich was thin and very fatty. Don't mind some fat, but this was cold dense fat and very chewy and tough. Cold dry pre cooked french fries. This is the easiest thing to do well, fries.
Roll was nicely toasted and the Cole slaw was very good.
Beer was fresh and cold.
The bar atmosphere was not very fun.
Live locally, will go again, but disappointed .
Most of my friends and family know about my love of bbq. I love to eat it and I love to smoke. I've tried many bbq spots in CT over the years and this is hands down the best.
Food is good but the service sucks... the wait staff does not acknowledge minorities even though majority of them work in the kitchen... the wait time to be seated is ridiculous for the lack of service.. Take out it is once a year!!
One of the best places in CT to eat and have a drink with friends and family, great job guys keep it up!
Amazing BBQ joint. Often very busy, so make reservations if you plan to go on a weekend!
Reason for 3 stars - Went on Friday between 7-7:30 .. they were out of a lot of food already. No ribs , brisket, pulled pork, banana cream pie... Was kinda forced to get chicken and waffles .. which was average. Really wish I was able to try the food items that were missing..
Terrible parking. Obnoxious wait. How do you run out of HALF your entrees 3 hours after opening? Don't care how good it is, not worth the hassle.
Awesime bbq
Chris is a genius! The crispt in his pork belly is devine
The prime rib is huge and delicious on Thursday nights!!!
A little pricey and always a wait but the best BBQ around.
Worst Brisket ever never again! Do not expect Texas BBQ! Service is eh.... Texas BBQ in Cold Spring, NY destroys this place when it comes to food.
My new favorite barbecue. Wish it was closer to me. Fast friendly service, good drink list, delicious BBQ food. I'll definitely try to make it back - it's worth the trip!
Great BBQ, pork belly was amazing I highly recommend it. Drinks were fantastic also.
Awesome! Food and service were wonderful as always! Love bringing home leftovers too!
Food was great. Had brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich.
House special drinks were very good.
Service was awesome, very friendly staff.
Kinda small place be prepared to wait a little bit but worth it.
Went there today had the nachos with brisket and they were to die for and we had the small order by the time our meal came we were about full we had the pork ribs sausage and cole slaw so much food well satisfied we will definitely go again bartender was very nice and inviting Thanks Hoo Doo very pleased
Delicious food and nice decor all the service was a bit slow
They never disappoint..the staff and the food are excellent! Prime rib night is a must!
Best BBQ in CT. In the words of Homer Simpson, "9 thumbs up".
Best BBQ in Ct, seriously have to try everything from their staples and all the way to the sides. Hoodoos is the best place for smoked food.
6:00 on a Saturday. over an hour to get a table. but everything we had was excellent. being so busy, speaks for itself.
Hoodoo has consistently been great bbq food. It's an hour out of my way but always well worth the drive. The pork ribs are the standout for me, brisket too, the mac n cheese is perfect, also highly recommend the smoked wings appetizer because they're top notch.
Excellent food. Make sure you don't eat for a month before going. Phenomenal cocktails. You will be taking food home for days. Very casual atmosphere. Communal dining available. Go with a bunch of fun friends or family members you actually like!
As a Southerner best barbecue that I have eaten in Connecticut, there was a wait but well worth it. The meat is smoked to perfection, tender, juicy, succulent, not greasy, hard or dry. Worth the one and a half hour drive for the meat, not a fan of the sides. Had the "Holy Texas Trinity" and pulled pork with a le carte sides.
Really good, tender, smoked meats. If you are going for a large cut of meat, such as ribs, beef shank, etc. the prices are really expensive and come with no sides. $38 for a rack of ribs, though it will be the best dry rub ribs you have ever eaten. They have many different kinds of whiskey. The tables are a bit small and can feel crampt, especially when your main dishes have arrived.
My review may sound negative, but the meat is some of the best that I have ever had.
Hoodoo is the best barbeque in the area. They have won multiple awards and many recognitions from local and state magazines. The food is excellent and always makes you want to come back to try something else on the menu. This particular time I went with takeout, to bring home after work. Their smoked meats are available in half pound increments. They have sandwiches, salads, and appetizers including the biggest and best tasting wings around. The wings are first smoked before flavor from sauces and ingredients are added. My favorite item on the menu is the smoked beef ribs. They are sold as one rib at about 25 dollars per pound and each rib usually costs about 45 to 50 dollars. Each rib is enough meat for 1 person to have for their entire meal. They have excellent side dishes as well. The pit beans, Mac and cheese, and corn bread are our favorites. The food is on the pricey side, but well worth the price. Usually our family of 4 and a half people will spend about 120 dollars per visit. Parking is out front and behind the restaurant at some closed businesses. We have never been dissatisfied with the service, food, or atmosphere. If you do plan on going on the weekend, I would suggest getting there at 4:30 or 5 pm. Or. Go later than 8 or 9. Any time in between those times and you are likely to wait to get in for 40 mins to an hour.
Great brisket .....so tender and delicious..... one of my favorite places to patronize when I am visiting in CT
Excellent smoked chicken wings. Beef brisket was a disappointment. Too much fat for my taste. Next time I would try the pork as I think it would be a better match for the vinegar based coleslaw and sweet beans. Great staff that take great care of the customers.
I litterly didn't even put pictures of my actual meal pulled brisket because ans Mac and cheese because I ate it sooo fast.
Just amazing this is how BBQ should be done
Solid bbq...can be a bit expensive but is worth it. The brisket is awesome and they often sell out of pork ribs early, which says a lot...
This place is amazing! The staff was incredible kind and very generous with their time for questions and just a little chat. The cocktails were phenomenal. The food was absolutely out of this world. Will definitely be back many more times!
Unbelievable BBQ don't hesitate go. The portions we're well worth the amount of food we got. We needed to actually pack some up! We were a table of 8 and we were seated quickly.
The only minus is the parking so be ready to wait for a spot on a busy night. Picture below is the Texas Trinity with some extra sides. Will be back soon!
Not typical of. Texas BBQ.corn bread dry . bbq sauce no flavor
The barbeque is done well. I've only had sandwiches so far. The portions are a great size. A bit on the greasy size, but you don't get BBQ for clean eating. I'm not a fan of the ketchup based sauce and the Southern style sauce is kind of a mix between NC and SC styles. So far it's the best I've had here.
The food is worth any drive. Staff are great and still think Guy Fieri should go there. And there smoke room is amazing. Love love love.
