If you want some authentic and delicious Texas-Style Barbeque, there's really only one place to go. That place is HooDoo Brown Barbeque in Ridgefield, CT. I have eaten there before and I was very impressed, tonight I just wanted some take-out, so I ordered some pulled pork, brisket, corn on the cob and some of their seasoned fries. The "HooDoo Crew" was extremely friendly and very easy to talk to, I was speaking to them as they prepared meal after meal. Because they were extremely busy, they were apologetic about the length of time it took to fill my order, to which I responded "you can't rush perfection". I was delighted to be gifted a generous portion of their exceptional cornbread as thanks for my patience. In short, great food, great staff.

The food is severely overpriced and menu extremely limited. They provide you no plates even upon request as if you're at Medieval Times. My BBQ spare ribs came out ice cold and the main courses come with no sides as that's extra. All sides are 4 bucks and to share a side is 8 bucks as if customer's cannot multiply by two? Soft drinks and otherwise come in small glasses with ice unless you order just water. Although the wait staff was very polite and cordial we were told that they were out of everything we wanted to order long before the kitchen was even scheduled to close for the evening. They also try to rush you in and out as quickly as possible to increase revenue. However, I must say that they do give large portions and most of the customers take food home. I'll be my last visit for sure!

Hands down flat out the best barbecue in the area. No matter what you order you can't go wrong here. But if you feel like you're up for a food coma check out the barbecue beef rib it is one of the best things you'll ever eat in your life. Also the nachos are ridiculously good. If it's a Sunday morning and you're hungover try the Holy Trinity it's the best Bloody Mary you've ever had with meat.

The food here is so unbelievably good. The brisket is extremely tender, the wings were so good that my toddler who does not eat meat started trying to take them off his siblings plates to eat them. The fries are one of the best I ever had. Overall everything was awesome I could go on and on with all the things we ordered. My family had a great time and the staff was great. If I could give more stars I would

Ordered the beef ribs which on the menu showed $28. Thought that was ok for a half rack or so. Wrong I didn't read the fine print. When my rib came out it was 1 rib, huge bone with some meat around the middle. Rib was totally blacken & charred around the outside (and I mean crispy charred) not really to my liking. Inside was ok but nothing that I order again. BUT that wasn't the worst part. When I got the check I noticed they charged me $42 for the beef rib. I brought it up to the waitress who told me that the beef ribs are $28 per lb. I said who ordrrs food by the lb. That 1 rib weighted about 1 1/2 lbs. I'm guessing the bone weighted a lb and the meat weighted the half lb. Next time I want to spend $42 on a piece of meat it will be a prime rib or new York strip and not a beef rib in this place. Totally outrageous for a beef rib.

Good food good waitress.

Good food good waitress.

UPDATE: ** 6-8-19, I came a second time. It was better then. This time I had the same as last the 1/2 lbs Brisket (no option for 1/4 lbs) and seasoned fries. Very disappointed with the Brisket it had way too much fat and no option to order half marbled the other BBQ establishments offer this. All the fat got to my stomach. My girlfriend thought overall the food was very salty. They have a high rating may be the other foods are better.

Words cannot describe the amazing BBQ coming out of this place. Jar of bacon is a must. Pork belly is delicious. Ribs come off the bone, but hold on just enough so it's not a mess. Cornbread is delicious.

One of the few places in Connecticut to get smoked beef long ribs. Well worth the price and wait. Definitely expect a crowd on weekends and be prepared to park in the labyrinthine series of alleys behind the restaurant. Rustic, but not run down. Country, but classy. Overall a great experience.

I came here almost a month ago, our second attempt because the first time the wait was like 2 hrs. But it s completely understandable. The food is the best BBQ I ve had in my life. The ribs literally melted in my mouth. They run out of food pretty quickly, but it s because it s simply amazing, I can see why the wait is long at times. The pork belly is out of this world. Please visit this restaurant, it ll change your life.

Consistent great bbq and offering takeout or dine-in. Brisket and smoked wings are great. Thursdays have smoked prime rib - barely a butter knife needed! Following all Covid precautions.

The atmosphere of the place is really cool, you get the feel of the log cabin and the main room has a glass wall overlooking the smokers giving you the glimpse on how your food is smoked.
The food itself is also good. The brisket was juicy and flavorful, the poutine loaded with brisket and gravy, and the fried chicken was crispy and juicy at the same time.
However couple of things smudges the whole experience.
First it's really difficult to find a parking spot since the parking is limited.

Over all very good food with slight hiccup on the service. Definitely recommend and will come back sometime!

Dog for real!? This place is off the hook! I mean they literally give you a mason jar full of bacon! The price was spot on and the service was great! They were personable and respectful. It was like we knew the waitress. They were so good. And the quality of the food....bruh don't get me started! Everything shmacked! It's was so good the brisket was tender. The ribs are not dry at all. The bacon was like almost an inch thick. So good y'all gotta go

Awesome BBQ and sides! The poutine fries were loaded with brisket and are drizzled with an incredible demi-glaze "gravy". The brisket was so good, we got it for the main course as well.

COVID-19 take out review: Pros: food was awesome. Is it better dining in? Of course. But even the nachos held up pretty well on delivery. The small nachos are also quite large. Meat was juicy, and the sides were great. All employees taking PPE seriously. Cons: Had to call ~8 times over the course of 30 minutes to place an order (a little chaotic). They forgot my cornbread - check your Ofer before you leave the parking lot. The collard greens had pork in them, which felt like overkill. Tips: Don t skip the pork belly smoked deviled eggs if they re a specials menu.

Incredible Texas style BBQ. I live over an hour away but am always down to make the trip. The food is fantastic and the staff is extremely friendly. Always a great time, get here for prime rib Thursdays! These guys are so good my brother ended up hiring them to cater my engagement party and they brought so much food we were eating pulled pork and brisket for days!

Called at 4pm and ordered for pick up at 515pm. The girl on the phone was abrupt and i felt like i was bothering her. Almost didn't pick up the order. Went at 520pm to pick up and the order wasnt started. Waited almost 15 minutes. After paying i asked the girl if she took the phone order. She did. I suggested she be a little nicer on the phone. She replied w a smart abrupt answer. Not the type of employee you need to meet as your 1st and last contact. 100 dollars later, enjoyed the food, not the rest.

Very good barbeque for the area. I remember it being better a few years ago. Pork belly is phenomenal and brisket is very good (not the best). I wouldn't waste your money on the sides, overpriced, small, and nothing special.

Edit: changing my review from 4 stars to 3 stars. The last two times I went (December 2019 and July 2020) the first round of food that was brought out to us was cold. The way our pork belly burnt ends tasted (which were cold) seems like they were microwaved from yesterday. After sending it back, the appetizer was still cold and rubbery. One of the owners came out to apologize. The cacio e pepe sausage, however, was the best sausage I've ever had. It was a special, hopefully they put it on the menu!

For reference, I've been going to this establishment for years, since they first opened.

Some of the best BBQ ever, poutine, cornbread, brisket, pulled pork are favorites!! Beef ribs are AMAZING and best dessert there is the banana bourbon cream pie! Crazy busy on the weekends so expect to wait but worth it!

I'm starting to feel sorry for the numerous BBQ places that are opening up in the area. Absolutely none of them are on par with Hood Doo's and are doomed to fail. I had sworn off of trying any of the local barbecue spots. However, every now and then I find myself in a place where I'm jonezing for BBQ and nowhere near HooDoos, so I'll try what's nearby. Needless to say each and every time I have walked away disappointed and regretted. From flavor, tenderness, size, price and meat quality I have not been able to find anyone who comes close to hoodoo browns. I think if you want to find something on par you're going to have to take a trip to Austin Texas. Best time to go is around four or five pm when the food is moving and right off the smoker. Yes there will be a wait, but you will get a chance to experience HooDoos at its 100% best. I am done looking for anything better than HooDoos in NY & New England. Seriously a half rack of ribs at Hooters looks like something out of the Flintstones. Compare that to anywhere else in the area where you get three ribs and a price tag of about $24. Hoodoos I have cheated on you for the last time. (Also anyone who goes to a place like HooDoos and orders the chicken needs to have their head examined. You don't walk into a Ferrari dealership and ask if they have any Hyundais for sale.)

Best BBQ in CT. Be prepared to wait up to 2 hours though because they don t take reservations but the wait was worth it. Their ribs and brisket is amazing along with their sides but their sausages was their weak point. Service is great considering how crowded the place is.

Better than Dinosaur, better than any other local BBQ, this joint serves wonderful authentic flavorful BBQ. Great take out. Avoid Sunday night because they run out of almost everything because they are closed Mondays.

Surprise. I have passed this place dozens of times (which is unusual because I am a BBQ guy) and stopped this time because it was the day after Thanksgiving and I wanted something other than Turkey. Of course the specials involved smoked Turkey. They do a lot of sandwiches and also sell meat by the 1/2 pound, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, pork belly, $9 to $ 11.00 per 1/2 pound. No mix and match sampler on the menu so it could be expensive to order for variety. I went with the pork belly and brisket sandwich sans bread which came with a slaw on it. I switched the fries for a side of collards. Pork belly was as advertised, crispy and good, not huge amounts of fat. Brisket was tender and juicy however bark was also wet and not really flavorful. Enter the two house sauces, a Carolina mustard and traditional BBQ sauce, both really good .
Looking around the portions were large, service was excellent and atmosphere was very laid back. Full bar, parking in the back,. Definitely looking forward to future trips.

Absolutely a excellent barbecue restaurant. Parking is tough but it is worth it. Bartenders are great. The food is excellent. I like to eat at the bar, it usually takes less time than waiting for a table. You have to try this place. I sure it will become one of your favorites.

Been following them on Instagram for sometime. Pass by them all the time on my way to jobs in CT but usually never at the time they are open. This past week I had the chance to stop in and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Fries were great. Port flavorful and bread was very nice. No complaints. $20 for sandwich and a soda and tip.

I ve been here a few times and the bbq is exceptional!! The constant running out of food and having to keep telling customers is insane!! For a restaurant that stays open until midnight or longer. Management have to implement something different in order for things to go smoother it leaves a bad taste in people s mouth! Some restaurants get comfortable about how booming the business is going and into income coming in and when you think like that things are bound to change/ close it doesn t necessarily have to be today, tomorrow, future could be coming to a end without notice. The tech savvy world and reviews can definitely hurt the business.
