This is a great place for beginners to learn the basics while the more advanced folks have fun on the big runs.
This is a great place for beginners to learn the basics while the more advanced folks have fun on the big runs.
Homewood, where the mountain meets the lake, could possibly have the most beautiful ski slope views in North America. If you're happy with short lines, an environment and ticket prices that both resemble the 2000s, you'll be right at home.
4 feet of soft powder when Squaw was closed. Great price. Only had one lift but skiing was religious.
This is a good ski resort for a more relaxed feel. First tracks on Quail face was nice!
Great runs when there's a lot of snow. I loved the cheap beer prices at the Northside bar
Great place to shred. We got snowed in when we where there in December. Will have to make the trip again from Wisconsin at the end of 2019.
If you're reading these reviews, ignore 99% of the complaints. As a LONG TIME ski resort insider, everything that goes on at Homewood from non-transferable tickets to "the scary meter ledge" in the beginner area is all perfectly normal. I live on the other side of the lake and I've always enjoyed an occasional trip around to hit up Homewood in a good season. If you're a beginner, the easy runs are going to seem a little more intermediate than you might like. If you're an expert, unless Quail is open, you're going to be a little disappointed with the groomers but the trees at Homewood are super fun with adequate coverage. Homewood is a very basic mountain, though they're planning a great deal of upgrades. Homewood has been a long time local-knowledge mountain and even with the planned expansion, it might be safer for totally inexperienced skiers bringing the whole family up to Tahoe from...oh I don't know...let's say San Jose - to go ahead and save their patronage for the I-80 boiler plate resorts. Whether you're local or a vacationer, though, if you're more interested in skiing than shopping and you're looking for a mainly intermediate hill, Homewood's the place. You'll also be hard pressed to find better views of Tahoe at any other resort.
Ignore the negative reviews. They're either from people who have little to no experience skiing or people who are used to being catered to non-stop. Tahoe is not Vail and we never will be. We're here to cater to people who love their respective sports and we do it exceptionally well everywhere in the Tahoe Basin.
We hit traffic on the way up. Like a dead stop for 45 mins. We called the resort and they were kind enough to reschedule my toddlers snow play for the next day, however, they didn't refund my daughter's or husband's ski lift tickets, even though they weren't able to go up/down the slopes. That burned and disappointed me. We spent so much money on snowboard lessons, ski lift tickets and rentals. What a waste of money and expensive trip.
We reserved a private lesson for snowboarding in a month ago but resort folks arranged us a ski instructor instead. They didn't treat this issue seriously either, just arranged us to join with group lessons. We informed instructor Steve that what we booked is private lesson, not group lesson, then we wait another 20 minutes for another instructor Brad. Both of them cannot provide the help to my wife, who is the main person needs for instructions. She felt so upset and the only way she could do was giving up this class.
The slope is also not friendly to beginners, no chairs in the beginnings zones.
For the green lines with chairs, they are also narrower than other resorts. I didn't see any fence around the cliff as well. Not recommend for kids and beginners.
The only pros is it comes with good view, but all the others were bad to us.
Great local mountain if you want to avoid the crowds
Facilities are extremely dated and there are very limited food options here. They ran out of snowboard rentals by 10:30am. The employees are also very unpleasant and unhelpful. Thanks for an awful experience, I'll take my business back to squaw or anywhere else.
Best view on the lake . No lift lines. No b.s.. Just awesome family fun for lil ones all the way up to the big shredders bruh.
Like most of the mountains here in Tahoe, It's relatively small. The skiing is still great though, and you won't be waiting in line. The only negative thing I have to say about Homewood is the food is way way overpriced, even compared to Tahoe.
Great skiing, short lines, and all time views. We had a great time, unfortunately Ellis lift was closed for the season due to mechanical issues, but we knew that before hand and they had shuttles running from the south to north areas frequently. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a shuttle.
No response from the phone of Homewood or email communication.... been trying for 3 days to talk to someone abt a refund for covid lock down!! Respond to the messages!!!
Best on West Shore for family ski outing or leftover powder stashes.
Great powder, tons of trails. Conner was a great help!
I'd say Homewood has the best views of the lake of any resort. And it has cheaper lift tickets than the big resorts. The runs are pretty good too. They also have 5 dollar tall boys. Hard to beat that. So for the value and view it's one of my favorites.
It's a location of some nice arts and craft fair on the weekends all summer long.
Caution-exploits location. Poorly marked hazards and a ski patrol staff that seems not to care. Slow lifts that only run half of the time. Very poorly groomed and not a decent park to speak of. Their food is a real crapshoot.
It's a really good place to start, some lifts are closed and some others are really agresive when it comes to speed to jump into the lift, if you don't mind about that the rest it's really good and the runs are so pretty with the tahoe view.
Haven't been there since I was little. One of the better mountains for the price in this area.
Huge ski area, reasonable pricing, friendly, snow is as iffy as everywhere else, good balance of runs of different levels of difficulty. Love their 2+ mile run. My favorite in Tahoe area.
The most wonderful ski day! Very quiet experience that I will never forget!
One of my favorite mountains in the Tahoe area, I've been boarding here since I was a kid. There's plenty of back country and you can make your own trails all day long if you like. Staff is always friendly and it's one of the cheaper mountains around. The view of the lake is a spectacular plus.
The main distinguishable feature of this ski resort is a very nice view to the lake Tahoe and mountains around. Any picture taken there can be a post card. They also have some very wild trains through the forest, I mean labeled trails not just someone decided to ski there at their own will. The main disadvantage was that many trails were ungroomed, pretty much all diamond trails were ungroomed. It could be due to weather and lack of snow also but I would prefer to have more well groomed trails.
AVOID Homewood Mountain Resort. Their website and customer service are inferior to neighboring resorts, like Alpine Meadows. We tried to book last night for today, and the website stopped responding. This morning, they cannot find evidence of the website not responding, so they won't honor their own prices. Ski day canceled. Nice views on the slopes though. Poor business model.
Very beautiful with slopes for various levels of skiers
Not as fun as other resorts. The beginner lifts are not begineer friendly. This place needs an update.
Honestly, I think the food is OK but the skiing isn t very good. On the green dot slopes some of them aren t even slopes so it s very hard to get momentum
It was a quite good resort. Tracks were easy to follow and well preserved. It was a great experience for skiing even though I was there on end of April.
No pretense. Just drive it and walk to lift. Low key perfect
More local than local... Love how down to earth this place is...
If you are an experienced skiier, you would get bored with the amount of runs. Great for beginners though. They don't have lockers so you have to haul everything back to the car.
Beautiful place, excellent experience for whole family.
Great powder day, in a Saturday, and no lines. Mountain was pretty fun to ski on. Would suggest upgrading Ellis lift to an Express, as old Homewood right now is the only Express they have and Ellis chair takes forever to ride, add the terrain there is amazing. Anyway, good alternate around Tahoe from the big expensive ones
The BEST place for views of Lake Tahoe if you want to go skiing. Great staff and ski resort.
Had a really amazing time here for my first time skiing. Good slopes for beginners, friendly staff, and breathtaking views of the lake. I highly recommend this place.
Conveniently located off the main road with great views of Lake Tahoe. The runs are not bad but I wouldn't recommend it if you have beginners with you. Their easy (green) runs are not well designed and beginners will struggle here.
Could be a great place but poor management top down.
I arrive at this unique restaurant every couple of days as I enjoy the special air that is unique to this place. The crew is highly helpful and qualified. The service is absolutely quick. Needless to say, the food you get is good. I frequent many times and I was always pleased. The price is decent. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
Very elegant and welcoming place. They serve large meals and for economical prices. We loved the menu very much and the waiters were super personal and informative. Recommended.
Best dive bar resort on the west shore. Heather and Justin keep it flowing
Great small town mountain in North Tahoe. If the other mountains are busy, check out Homewood. There is a good chance that it won't be crowded.
Unreal fun!! Small and fun and boutique and a great place for families or friends
As a beginner snowboarder who only goes once a year, Homewood is very easy to access and affordable! You don't have to drive up any windy mountain roads or trek a mile to the ski lift. You can see the mountain from the road. Parking is easy and the ski lift is close to the main cabin.
I would definitely return. Although I would recommend renting equipment elsewhere, since it was quite pricy. I only needed a helmet for a day, and it cost me $29.
After roads were closed and we were not able to make it to the resort we asked for a refund or trade our tickets for a different day. Homewood resort doesn't do either. Pretty crappy!
Wow! This mountain is a diamond. Love freshies off of groomers. Dont go here because I love it so much
Great view of Lake, but those Green routes are a bit tough for beginners. We needed to use shuttle to get back after we skied down from Green route.
Nice smaller resort.
Lift tickets aren't closing in on $200 like Squaw-Apline and the big corporate spots.
Great views of the lake from the lifts and on the mountain. Good variety of terrain.
Small, but fun bar with great staff for apres ski relaxing.
A small low-key ski resort. It lacks the amenities of larger resorts but is never crowded. The backside is great for intermediate skiers.
Decent resort that is super convenient. It s really close to Lake Tahoe. It s quite small and lots of the runs are short and can get quite crowded. It s worth a visit for the views.
I love Homewood! No giant parking lots, no lift lines, lots of off piste terrain.
Homewood is a no frills place--simple to park and get on the slopes quickly. As an intermediate skiier they have more than enough routes for me, and I appreciate their lower cost lift tickets...highly recommend getting tickets in advance through Sports Basement!
I'm on the fence about Homewood, it's a great resort for beginners and learners in my opinion as it has great greens and blue runs to learn and practice your techniques but for slightly more advanced skier's it is terrible, the lifts are slow and the blacks are either the equivalent of a hard blue or an ungroomed hard blue and they provide little challenge. I also call into question the quality of the maintenance that they perform as the most important chair (Ellis) was shut down for half a day because it couldn't handle the weight of a full load of people riding up to the top, that isn't just maintenance, not being able to complete its only objetive is a design flaw. The safety is also an issue as half of the lifts lack a safety bar and creak as they make their ascent. Additionally, as a result of the lack of safety Ellis and Madden are incredibly slow. Ellis was also stationary with riders on it for over 30 min before they got let the riders off of the lift while I was there. The other issue I found with the resort was the fact that some runs were marked as blacks on the map but when arriving at the runs, they were marked as blues (ex. Jimmy's Run). That being said, the lake views were amazing and the pictures you see will not due it justice.
Great place for beginners. Keep in mind they provide snow boots and ski as rentals but buying snow pants n snow coat could bring you down by about 500 bucks.. Because that's not rented.
Friendly staff and decent food at in house restaurant..
Great little resort. Nice runs, not to demanding, perfect for a short weekend. Price is great, $60 for a ski pass book ahead of time online and $32 for rental gear (in Tahoma). Big Blue bar is a great place for break and a beer after a few hours of hard work on the slopes!
Favorite place to ski in Tahoe, an intermediate mountain with unbeatable views and a friendly and helpful staff.
Homewood is quaint & friendly. I like that it is not so stuck up & crowded as other resorts.
Great service, and they sell the best boats in the wirld!!
The Views are stunning. Fun skiing, nothing too challenging.
A very nice group of people. Everyone was in a good mood and today was an awesome day on the mountain. I took a lesson and my instructor was great! I spoke with some of the other instructors and they too seemed like a good group of people. The mountain was a lot of fun and it wasn't busy (which always makes me happy).
Buy your ticket online and it's cheaper.
Great variety of Ski/Snowboarding terrain/runs.
Mens restroom up by Big View Bar smells HORRIBLE of urine... worst one I've experienced, not clean.
My friend and I went this weekend and I had an amazing experience. Thankfully we had an instructor because it was my very first time snowboarding. When I say Dylan was phenomenal!!! He was very patient. He would take videos for us. He went above and beyond. I could barely stand on the snowboard when I started, but by the end Dylan had me doing turns and going comfortably down the medium mountain!! The resort was very clean and everyone was friendly. The bar was great too!! I highly recommend this resort...and ask for Dylan!! :)
Best ski hill for the price. Can't beat the views of the lake and lots of tree skiing too.
had an amazing trip to lake tahoe, it was beautiful
This really is the place where the locals go. It's pretty good. Has good snow, and is nearby. Price is right.
Don't listen to the complaints, from people who don't know skiing or resorts etc. Who shows up for their ski lesson at 3pm?A chill, smaller mtn. Good trees. No crowds.
Love it. Great price. Show up early limited parking
