If you're reading these reviews, ignore 99% of the complaints. As a LONG TIME ski resort insider, everything that goes on at Homewood from non-transferable tickets to "the scary meter ledge" in the beginner area is all perfectly normal. I live on the other side of the lake and I've always enjoyed an occasional trip around to hit up Homewood in a good season. If you're a beginner, the easy runs are going to seem a little more intermediate than you might like. If you're an expert, unless Quail is open, you're going to be a little disappointed with the groomers but the trees at Homewood are super fun with adequate coverage. Homewood is a very basic mountain, though they're planning a great deal of upgrades. Homewood has been a long time local-knowledge mountain and even with the planned expansion, it might be safer for totally inexperienced skiers bringing the whole family up to Tahoe from...oh I don't know...let's say San Jose - to go ahead and save their patronage for the I-80 boiler plate resorts. Whether you're local or a vacationer, though, if you're more interested in skiing than shopping and you're looking for a mainly intermediate hill, Homewood's the place. You'll also be hard pressed to find better views of Tahoe at any other resort.

Ignore the negative reviews. They're either from people who have little to no experience skiing or people who are used to being catered to non-stop. Tahoe is not Vail and we never will be. We're here to cater to people who love their respective sports and we do it exceptionally well everywhere in the Tahoe Basin.
