This is a follow up from my previous review I rece...

This is a follow up from my previous review I received a letter from Crystal Mcbee basically stating that all my allegations about the room I was staying in were false. My room was COLD a technician came in and confirmed the unit wasnt working but somehow when I left the room they said it was working I was given two space heaters and the staff at holy cross hospital is proud to say that they provided me space heaters when they should be concerned about their HVAC system not working. I had two bug bites which two night nurses one named SOHEE confirmed and saw the bites and told me it looked like mosquito bites, They flattened by morning so the male nurse I had in the morning claimed I had nothing on my skin. I declined to be changed to a room on the same floor because they told me there was no difference between the rooms that they were all like that. By the time they had people come to my room to see what was going on it was to late I was going to be discharged in three hours so there was no point for a room change. This was my second time being put in holy crosses filthy abandoned pediatric ward the first time I was there I demanded my room be changed or transfer me to another hospital because the nurse herself confiremed the room was dusty and said all the rooms are dusty fortunately I had competent nurses the first time who knew those rooms were FILTHY and transferred me out of there. it s not suitable for a newborn nor is it suitable for children if they want to continue to use that place serious renovations need to made or simple basic cleaning and dusting of the vents won t kill maintenance. And if their pediatric ward was TRULY an extension of the maternity ward they would have everything a new mom needed on that floor but they DONT EVEN have pads. Unfortunately I don t know how to upload pictures but I have pictures of the dirty vents the dry pee that was on the floor in the bathroom and the space heaters I was provided. In the future if I have another child I ll make sure I m not delivered here even if it means paying out of pocket to go elsewhere. Nancy Nagel, Leesa Wishart,Tony Abernathy and Ms mcbee need to go and inspect the rooms for themselves I m sure they wouldn t even allow their family members to be put in those rooms.

I toured the labor and delivery room and expected to be put in a nice room after delivery instead I was put in their OLD dusty pediatric ward. The room was super cold and I was brought a space heater because they said the mechanic can t fix the thermostat, the room was still cold and the nurse asked if I wanted to move to the chair since the bed can t be moved.Something bit me three times on the bed I was given and the nurse for some reason thought it was funny and asked me if I wanted to take another shower. My nurses were all sweet except for my last one. If they want to put mothers and babies in their pediatric ward they need to update it to look like the maternity floor. So disappointed with my stay here.

In 2012 my mom had surgery for cancer. After surgery she was in the recovery for seniors. After being there through Thanksgiving and Christmas we found out that she wasn't being flipped in bed which cause a huge sore in her back. It was a nasty bedsore from her not being changed because she couldn't move. On February she passed away with that nasty sore in her back. I wont ever forget Holy Cross for doing this to my mom. She is finally at Peace with God.

Alhamdulillah. Our experience in the hospital was great. We had our second child there. All the nurses were excellent. They checked on us frequently and behaved very nicely. The only issue is parking. You better get a 20$ 7day multiple entry parking permit from inside.

I went to ER for a broken nose and bleeding. I waited in ER hopelessly for 5 hours before getting stitching up within a few mins. This hospital seems almost intentional to make you wait in pain. Avoid it if you can!

Having been sent to Holy Cross ER for exam and CT ...

Having been sent to Holy Cross ER for exam and CT scan of abdomen, I was admitted for IV antibiotics and observation. I arrived at about 1:00 pm and was transferred to a room between 9:30-10:00 pm I commend the nursing staff both in the ER and on the floor. I was seen by the ER doctor and the hospitalist. However, I was not seen by the supposing attending or consulting physicians that evening or the next morning. I was told I would be seen around 10:30 am. By 1:00pm I complained and my nurse found out there was some mix up around who would come by or whatever. Finally a hospitalist came and responded with a discharge and instructions to take RX for 2 antibiotics, I was ready to walk out feeling very neglected. After having IV removed (removed leads myself) and getting dressed to leave, a doctor, whose name he mumbled, stepped inside the door. Staying at least 20 ft. away he uttered 4 sentences: "How are you? Stay on a liquid diet. See Dr. Musselman (my GI doctor)." I presumed he was the Gastroenterologist. To me this could not possibly be submitted as a consultation.

Holy Cross? Holy CRAP! Zero stars if I could, in f...

Holy Cross? Holy CRAP! Zero stars if I could, in fact, give them zero stars. So, I went to the ER today (3/16/17) as a requirement by the Urgent Care I went to the last night. They would not allow me to leave without agreeing to go to the ER. I told them I wouldn't go last night because I was tired from being at UC for hours the night before, but would go in today. The UC made me sign a release of liability from their care because I wouldn't go last night. They asked if I would be going to Holy Cross, I said no I was thinking about Washington Adventist, but decided to go ahead to Holy Cross instead since a friend had a baby there and liked the facility. HOLY HELL. So, I got there at 9:45 AM, and as of 6:15 pm I am home with the same symptoms I went in with in the first place, actually, I have more pain because I was poked 4 times and had 2 exploded veins.

I realized I wasn't there for an extreme emergency like a heart attack, broken bone, etc., so I was cool with being patient. I saw the doctor twice. When I first got into the room, which looks to be the room where they take prisoners when the have to bring them to the hospital. I WISH I could upload a photo so you could see it. My nurse, tech, and phlebotomists were all nice enough. The problem is that other than them drawing blood I got no service. I was there for over 5 hours and I didn't get so much as a Tylenol, ginger ale or sip of water. One of the reasons I was there was a headache...NOT EVEN A TYLENOL!!!!!! ! I was supposed to have my stomach scanned...that didn't happen. They poked me several times, put in a line for fluids and NEVER GOT THE FLUIDS. The doctor came in and read the results of my labs and told me I could be discharged. 5 hours and she hadn't done an x-ray, scan, anything. No Tylenol or ANYTHING. I got no treatment. When I told the doctor (Holley Meers) this she said sorry, it's busy. I then asked several people for the number for a hospital administrator because I have never had that type of experience in a health care setting by health care professionals before in my life! No one ever brought the number for the hospital Administrator, but I was told by my Nurse Nicole that Holley Meers was the Charge Doctor and that she is the only person that I could make a complaint to...about herself. I told Nicole that it was fine, to have Holley come back into the room and I also asked for the phone number for someone else over Holley. Holley came back and I proceeded to explain to her how disappointed I was that I didn't receive care and that I deserved to receive proper treatment. I explained that I NOW had to find a new place to get treatment since I didn't receive treatment from them. She again apologized that I was disappointed and said they were really busy. I acknowledged that they were busy, they are an ER after all, I'm not fool. I realize I wasn't that urgent of an emergency and that was evident by me sitting quietly for 5 hours with no treatment of any kind. I will NEEEEEEEEEEV-ER Go to any of the Holy Cross hospitals...no matter what! Holley is a terrible excuse for a doctor and a professional. I'm now sitting at home (6:30 pm) with the same issues and trying to figure out what I should do about getting care. Did I mention that I missed a whole day of work/pay to get this resolved and didn't get it resolved...so now I have to take another day to get this issue resolved. OH! Holley told me when I was leaving that they didn't have the necessary equipment to diagnose me...that would have been nice to know 5 hours ago. I was so angry I was in tears. I went and filed a complaint with Customer Relations. I expressed to the person I spoke with that I didn't expect that they would do anything to Holley, but I was sick, frustrated, and upset so I wanted to vent on the record. Trust me, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!

For the record I am a Doctoral prepared Registered...

For the record I am a Doctoral prepared Registered Nurse. Just moved to MD from TX. My wife was experiencing severe pain secondary to what I suspected were kidney stones. Went to Patient First Urgent Care who sent us to Holy Cross. I've worked in ERs, but this one is the absolute worst. It is inefficient, unprofessional and hypocritical. As an RN, I understand waits due to sudden emergencies, and cut my fellow RNs slack due to such scenarios. However a 7 hour wait is ridiculous. My wife finally was taken back to imaging, was imaged, and left there for two hours waiting for transport to her assigned ER bay. She finally gave up after asking several staff to get her transported and left the room, walked the stairs, and checked herself into her room. She called me from a staff wall phone to let me know what was going on as I was in the waiting room with my daughter. When I asked to go back, we're told no by Robert the triage RN because my daughter was under 15 and could be exposed to adult germs. Granted Robert does not know I'm an RN who works in an predominate children's facility near here. When I identified myself as an RN and asked how my daughter is not already exposed to the adults in the overflowing waiting area, he just walked off. When I followed to complete my question, he just walked off to a staff area, but coincidentally a guard showed up quickly watching me. At least something is fast here. I asked for a pass to go visit my wife in Room D, and were told no, because my daughter would have to stay and my wife, who just walked herself to room D, walking right past the same woman I asked at the info desk for the pass told me she was not in her room. I told her to go check and when she returns give me my pass so I can check on my wife. I got a pass, and lucky I did because I had to teach the RN caring for my wife, how to look up her results in the EHR used here. When I returned to the waiting room, I was told to limit my visits back there (this was the first one). Told the staff if they'd let my daughter who has already been exposed to dozens of sick adults go back to her mom, we not have an issue. Coincidentally guards show up quickly watching me like a hawk. Seems the only thing quick is someone hitting the security panic button.

Patient PHI is discussed in non private areas, rude staff, dirty waiting area.... don't go here if you can avoid it. I have two words, Joint Commission people. You may get away with such unprofessional conduct with people who are clueless to the regulations or are clinically knowledge challenged... tonight you tried to pull the leg of a very knowledgeable RN who knows the rules and clinical rationale. Will attempt to reach out to the hospitals administration. God only knows how many patients this place puts at further risk than when they walk in.

Update a few hours later. Being the only people in the waiting room, my daughter and I went back to be with my wife, who after being in the ER 9 hours, was moved from her room to a bed in the hall, while there were empty rooms. Several staff saw us and offered my daughter blankets and pillows. After an hour, one RN woke me, asked my daughters age of which I answered honestly. Waa told due to germs, she could not be back there. I again asked, RN to RN, what was the clinical rationale for that given we have to wait in the waiting room with sick adults. Was told she would go get the charge RN. Charge RN, did not show, but rather not one, but two security guards woke us and explained how we'd have to leave. I asked what if my wife was a single mom... guess she'd be refused treatment? Was informed nobody was being denied treatment... I retorted back that no, can't refuse something that has not been been offered after 9 hrs. Went to waiting room...they kept my daughters blanket by the way... and after sitting there for 30 minutes watched a couple leave from the treatment area with their toddler daughter in hand. Just when I thought it could not get any crappier. Would love to have a chat with hospital administration.

This place should be renamed Holy Hell Hospital. ...

This place should be renamed Holy Hell Hospital. I was referred to the emergency room for abdominal pain 9/21 while 4.5 months pregnant and upon my arrival the receptionist asked me how far along I was and last menstrual. I told her 18 weeks and 5/17 because I had been tracking my cycle. The lady pulls out a pie chart and says no you re 20 weeks you have to go to L&D. After I get to L&D and give them the exact same information and get checked in the nurse has me reconfirm my dates and tells me to go back to ER. Needless to say, it took 30 minutes just to get checked in and I ended up back in the ER where I should have been all along. I guess the receptionist was so busy trying to order her lunch she just wanted patients out of her hair. After an hour, I finally get to the back where they start blood work and an IV, which the nurse charged me for and never hooked up. By my 2nd hour I saw the sonogram tech who still didn t even check out my main concern. After asking her to check it while in tears at this point she simply said it s just gas. You d be better off dying then trying to get some service here. Good luck

I've had the misfortune of being a patient at this hospital along with accompanying another patient. My first time here the service was adequate. The staff only treated me quickly because I couldn't walk & was losing consciousness. As, for my elderly mother they were not as kind. We waited for SIX hours only to be a given a bed outside a room. My mother who was very ill, projectile vomiting upon arrival at the hospital was untreated only to be sent to another facility who were able to treat her efficiently. The third time I came to Holy Cross Hospital was the worst. We waited for an hour for a room only to be put in a dank & dingy hole. You'd expect a hospital with such a large revenue would be able to at least mop they're floors once in a blue moon. Ad for the icing on top of the cake there are stains from the last patient.

Waiting to check in was disappointing. The waiting area seating was worn, torn and looks like bus station leftovers! I hope the surgical room is better than this! Update: May 31, 2019:
Let me say that the nursing staff was great! Thank you Nurse Rachel, Marie and Lead Dwight!!! Some staff were not patient attentive: Leslie was sweet but needed to stay off her cellphone, according to my family. My niece had to tell Leslie her job. But, Rachel was the best and was so attentive and caring....genuinely caring about me and her patients! The only disgusting behavior was that of Johnese from Transport Dept. I d never want to see anyone unemployed but this young lady need not work in a hospital setting, especially with people who are ill and hurting. She was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL to my Neice. Dwight thank you so much for maintaining my dignity! You rock! I d recommend this hospital but just have family to follow up.

I am truly sickened by this hospital. I have never in a million years had to wait over 5 hours to be seen by a doctor especially when I was given specific instructions to go to the ER for DKA among other issues I am having. I am so appalled, hurt and disgusted. These people let more than a few individuals ahead of me and they have not a care in the world! It s so sad because I live 5 minutes away and it is convenient but I will NEVER EVER come to this hospital again! At this moment I am in excruciating pain and nobody here has a sense of urgency. I would like to know why there aren t enough beds for sick patients, especially those who need immediate care. please do not go into the medical field if you do not care about patients! Please. I wish I can give this place zero stars. It should be shut down. The nurses just sit and laugh without a care in the world. There was one nurse who seemed to care, a lady with Locs in the waiting area. Statistics for this hospital show an average wait time of an hour, I have been waiting for over five. I rarely write reviews but I am extremely appalled! Please shut this hospital DOWN.

This place is a real dump. First off, parts of the hospital are very nice and modern, other parts are like going back in time to the 80s (ie. the fourth floor). The bathroom in our maternal suite (if you can call it a suite) was disgusting. It resembles the bathrooms (heads) on board a Navy ship (I would know, I use to be in the Navy). So not only do the facilities suck, but the staff is really hit or miss. Some of the nurses are very helpful and go the extra mile, but others are horrible. Its like you don't even have a nurse if you get a bad one. Thank goodness this is our second child and we know what do to. We asked our nurse for some infant formula and she comes in 20 minutes later and gives us a box of formula and a hand fill of nipples and leaves. A good nurse would have explained how much to feed and what to do. Ok, so the facilities suck and the staff is hit or miss, what about the parking? The parking garage for visitors and patients is a crap hole. There are not enough spaces and you can even see the parking deck above you FLEX when a car drive over it. I made sure I parked on the top just in case the structure collapsed while I was walking from the car (i didn't want to be trapped/crushed on the bottom level if it decided to collapse). Not only does the parking garage suck, but Holy Cross recently changed their policy so that patients AND visitors now have to park. They use to validate for patients (and fathers of new borns). I guess the tens of thousands of dollars my insurance company pays for these hospital services just isn't enough to cover the cost of the parking garage. Well, thats pretty much it. Save yourself some grief and go to a different hospital!!! Oh, if all the above wasn't enough to scare you away, this might, about 1 in 3 of the people that work at this hospital speak crappy english and have to be asked to repeat themselves numerous times.

i have an appointment 8am for induction, while checked in, I wait for 1hour just for getting into the room, and this was happened after I told them I am having a fever since last night, i don't feel baby move right now! After that, I was put in monitor for 8hours and nothing happened, I just lay down there for monitor, no induction at all! During this 8 hours, I was taken blood, and put IV Line, doctor came around 1 for 5mins, said dialate is starting. All of this just need to be done for 10mins. Nurse came couple of time and told me I will be transferred to labor room in 5 mins, and now, 2hours passed, nobody come to take care of me! It is defiantly a bad experience to dilivery in this hospital, will never come here for labor!

By the way, I called their customer relationship department, and except saying sorry, nothing can be improved! They explain to me that they keep having emergency things happened! But I can't believe, do they just have one labor room and have to be put me on monitor for 8 hours now! Why I should have a schedule!!!

I had a painful and concerning visit to the holy cross ER a few days ago. Processing times were incredibly slow, it was more than an hour before I was given a bed. Over the course of a 9 hour visit in which I was diagnosed with pneumonia, I saw the PA for a total of 6 minutes. Though diagnosed with pneumonia, not a medical staff listened to my lungs while having me submitted for 2 CT scans and an X Ray. The staff seemed over worked (and likely under paid) and incredibly under motivated. This seems to have resulted in the deterioration of care at this facility. After receiving poor and inadequate support for my pain, i returned to the hospital in the middle of the night only hours after leaving. I waited another hour before a staff came to get me and requested that I go in for an x Ray. I already had my diagnosis, this was made clear as I handed back in all my paperwork. The disorganization of this hospital could result in increasingly harmful exposure for patients without adequate advocacy.

Going to Holy Cross Hospital ER was a nightmare and the worst decision possible. The employees were very incompetent and not compassionate. Their only goal was to push us out the door and not treat the pain or the problem. My husband's primary doctor advised him to call an ambulance due to extreme pain. He was taken to the ER at Holy Cross. After they collected his insurance information, he was left laying on a bed in the hallway for hours and hours. Finally, a doctor came, talked to him for a minute or two (no exam) and asked if he wanted pills or an injection. After a couple of hours, a nurse gave him some pills, had him sign discharge papers and brought a wheelchair. He was in extreme pain and could not sit in the chair. Nurses told him time and time again, "you can't stay here, we need your bed." Although he tried numerous times over the next several hours to get in the wheel chair, the pain was too extreme. Finally, they gave him an injection. After another hour or so, he could tolerate sitting in a wheel chair, and we left very early in the morning after spending so many painful hours there. Never go there again.

Ive updated my rating. Holy Cross likely has one of the longest wait times for the ER. But back in 2011 they actually saved my life in the ER.
Because the physician asked me more questions after giving me a breathing treatment. That conversation allowed him to rely on his medical knowledge based on my answers and not the CT scan. I was admitted. Later he sent my CT scan to a cardiologist who found the blood clot.

Unfortunately for me, I've had the opportunity to be in their E.R. twice. First time, the wait wasn't terrible after about a 1/2 hour of waiting I was being treated. Second time, wait was over 2 hrs, due to timing I'm sure. Holidays = flu season. They can't treat us in the waiting room sadly enough so that was a rough wait.
My first stay had its ups and downs. The staff has its friendly nurses (I got Kevin on my first stay, wonderful guy) and not so friendly ones. (Which never helps in getting better. Lol). The facility itself is fine, not the cleanest, but they obviously try. Food is yucky then again you don't go to a hospital for a 5 star meal. I ended up there for 3 days.
Luckily my second stay, though the wait was agonizing, was less lengthy. I was fortunate enough to have two wonderful nurses during my stay, Kristin and Alexis I believe were their names. Thanks to their attentive care and Dr Patel I was able to leave in hours instead of days. All in all, I'm greatful to have access to the modern medicine our hospitals have to offer. And at Holy Cross in Silver Spring I get the impression they're doing their best and I appreciate that!

During my wife's birth process, we were finally admitted after waiting in triage for 5 hours. We only came to the hospital based on the last triage visits instructions. Upon being admitted for delivery we were given the last corner room. Two separate nurses asked us why we were in that room because all the other rooms were empty and are much better. Then construction began in the room below us, and it took 3 hours to get a response of "well we're not stopping anytime soon" and another hour for the nurses to move us to another room. This room was double the size of the previous one. After the birthing we were quickly shuffled out into a tiny 8 foot wide room (again at the end of the hall) with a window AC unit that had trouble pumping out cold air. Our room was 80 degrees with a newborn. Again they had to transfer us to another room when they aknowledged that every other room is larger and our room was too hot for a baby. Due to the incompetent staff, after the nurse shift change, my wife was unable to get a response for 2 hours after she was due for pain meds. I had to walk out to the desk and request them three times. We actually discharged early because we could not handle another night in the wretched place which is Holy Cross Hospital. As a final kicker, the nurse gave INCORRECT after-care instructions which led to another emergency care appointment with the OB. And the elevator was broken that led to us get sent around the hospital and back to the physicians office. NEVER EVER UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CHOOSE HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL.
