Since I heard that the review section of this place is popular, I think I might add my voice. I am coming here for advanced training in TCU. Since I got a part time job after school and an off center girlfriend, I dont interact with many students here or spend much time here at all. That said, some of the students here are childish and need to do some serious growing up before they leave. The staff here could do a better job at communication with certain aspects. The reason the rules are as strict as they are now is because people are going off center and coming back drunk, high or with contraband. If you think the rules here are too strict, try being a good influence to your friends and classmates and help influence them not to do this stuff and influence them to get to the higher phases and to an off center part time job. All in all, influence success and we will probably see more freedoms come our way. I leave this with a quote from my former Job Corps safety officer, "Successful people do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do."

Mr. Francisco, the customer service teacher, along with some other teachers on campus are the best on here. the class is simple yet fun as he makes it interesting for us. he will work with you one on one and if you ever need help he right their. I'm going to miss him once I leave job corps along with the other people that helped me!

The staff are incompetent, with the exception of a few. The person in charge off the dormitories is sexist and the actual living conditions are hazardous at best. Would recommend this program, but not this specific facility.

Just honestly, DO NOT COME HERE. Anywhere but here, be homeless instead of coming here. A friend of mine got written up for saying that if the RA keeps stealing her stuff that she's reporting them to DOL.The food is so bad so you have to spend your paycheck on other sources like vending machines, seriously they should give us food stamps instead of this, at least we won't be malnurished. The only reason there are 5 star reviews is because customer service trade makes them review the center for an assignment as you can see the highest voted reviews are negative. DOL needs to audit this place and fix all the problems or just shut it down and move the students to a place where they can be treated like adults.

I am giving this place a one star because the food here is gross and the way they serve it is disgusting. The RA's are rude and think they can boss the trainees but they get scared when we step up and give the student's case notes for the little stuff. The WiFi here is so trash but they got 4 other WiFi but they give us trash. The only good thing about this place is Mr. Preciado from customer service, and getting paid.

I am an Alumni from the San Jose Job Corps. I was there in the year of 2002-2003. I learned great skills, from Office Skills to helping in the kitchen. I also taught ESL while I was there, After school of course. That year was one of the best years of my life, even though I really didn't finish I am proud to say that if you really want to learn great skills this is the School to attend. You get Child Care for free, while you take classes. Great life skills also. If I could go back to Job Corps I will. Thank you to (SJJCC) SAN JOSE JOB CORPS CENTER

This place is actually pretty good. There is only a few things wrong with it. First, the security here is extremely relaxed. People can bring weed into the campus pretty easily. Second, the staff here don't really speak or understand English too much. Finally, the food plates are too small.

Even though there are those issues, there are still good things about it. They terminate people that they find that have drugs. There are some staff that know how to communicate between both student and staff. The food actually tastes better than my last center.

There are a lot of people who are trying to bring down this center by giving it bad reviews. Most of the people that are trying to do it have been terminated for bad things.

I completed this program, and I say it has its fair share of flaws, however, those flaws are not with staff. Now would I do it again? Absolutely not.

I was always thankful for the food and shelter they provided. Often people would complain about the food, but I say it's a whole lot better than starving. Besides, the cafeteria staff worked especially hard to make sure we were well fed, I always respected them.

I also appreciated the staff for being there, they do mean well, but you have got to do YOUR part!

As for my fellow attendees; some were good, some were different, and many were down right annoying.

Think long and hard before you commit.

Customer service is a good class its a little bit on the easy side, it will be 5 stars if it was more challenging. The class is like being in 6th grade class its one of the most easiest, chillest class I've ever taken. I recommend this class if you don't want a teacher that is really strict and you want some experience in customer service.

Francisco brought out the folks from the Job Corps to support two events we hosted. This nice group of young adults volunteered as judges, AV tech, mentors, referees at our robotics events. They were an asset to our events. The young men and women arrived on time, stayed engaged with personal, handled tasks efficiently and remained professional.
It seemed that it was a good experience for both groups as they had an opportunity to use their robotics skills and training to see how they might impact the community in positive ways.
I also had a chance to visit the ample campus. It was clean, easy parking, secure and modern. On my tour we visited the very large multipurpose room-it was very nice, conference room and some offices. The staff was courteous and focused.
We would recommend companies give opportunities to this group when the occasion arises.

Mr.Francisco one of the best teachers around. I learned quite a bit from him in Customer Service, and Computer Tech. We worked together on various computer projects. Anyway this is a good school the students are chill for the most part. For private reasons though I'm not going to display my name.

I want to congratulate the San Jose job Corps robotics!

1. There isn't any high schools or community college that offer in house robotics clubs. San Jose job Corps provides more of the real world robots.

2. The network opportunities are amazing!!you're able to work as a team no one is left behind.

3. I was able to feel comfortable, no one treated me different, I was treated equally like everyone else!

4. Me going to the San Jose job Corps robotics isn't a waste of time! There is always something to learn and to do. I am building skills/knowledge to take forward to my future job.

5. The work environment is professional, I'm happy to work with excellent instructor Francisco! Plus a huge shout out to everyone else inside the robotics club they are (ALL) amazing!

Highly recommend taking the customer service class. Whether you have experience in the customer service field or not this class will help you learn a lot that can help you move up in future jobs. Your main goal should be to focus on your studies and get as much done as you can. people will try to distract you but try your best to stay away from them.

Great program and I don't regret picking this center. I completed Customer Service and also Security and Protective Services. I also attained my driver's license through this program with the help of a driving instructor. I am currently in advanced training on a different center out on the east coast but it's nothing like this one. This center will always be the one that I'll remember.

I'm so sick of the math teacher Zachariah. She's the crazy Indian Teacher here who clapped in a 17 year old guys face calling him stupid when he asked 4 help, made a 24 year old guy cry cause he wanted to go to health & wellness and still works here despite complains she also told me a 16 year old that I'm a that. FIRE THIS HAG!

JC is an okay place, perfect for those who just want to get in and graduate quickly within their trade. The rules aren't as ridiculous as some may make out vs following the rules in foreign schools abroad, as long as you follow them you won't really have any problems. Downsides are, that the food is not as great, but still good on some days. Staff may play favorites, depending on how long you have been enrolled in the program (seniority), but either than that most staff is generally nice and willing to help you. Dorm life can get irritating, due to all the restrictions and curfews, certain Residential Staff are also a little sketch.
The school means well, it's just some who decide to come in and turn it into something else.
True key to getting through job corps is to just follow the rules, make the right friends and lay low.

I went to San Jose Job Corps back in 1994. The old location was at 201 South 11th Street. I recall moving into the new location at East Hills Drive when it was brand spanking new. I think the facility cost 8 Million to build. I recall many people scratching their heads (Including myself) at the crazy color choices for the buildings. Anyway, I was with San Jose Job Corps for two years. All my classes were offsite at Central County Occupancy Center. (Computers, Electronics, Electrical) Some went there for Automotive for SAE certification and the like. Some for culinary arts. In the present, the center s name is known as Silicon Valley Career Technical Education Center.

There are on site classes at Job Corps for clerical and accounting jobs (And others I cannot recall). I recall that the clerical training helped a friend get into San Jose TCU. He eventually landed a job with AAA in Stockton Ca. (No longer in operation)
Anyhow, for the amenities, the San Jose Job Corps has separate dorms for the males and females. Each room has 3-4 beds. There are multi person bathrooms and showers.
There is a decent sized cafeteria, and I recall there was a recreational room on site. There would also be off sight activities on the weekends. You can leave the facility on weekends if you secured a weekend pass.

There is security, and an on sight officer. It is a very safe place.

Anyhow, after my two years was up, I received an allotment check for $1100 to help me find a place to stay. I was able to use the facility to create a resume and look for a job.
I eventually found a job thanks to the help of the San Jose Job Corps.

I have allot of fond memories at this facility.
This is a great place to get you steered in the right direction!

If you come in and focus on what it is your there ...

If you come in and focus on what it is your there for which is to get hands on training or finishing up your school then this will work for you.

My boyfriend and I both went there, he finished in 6 months and I took a full year. We both got the same amount of exit money which at the time was $1200. We got married while finishing the program and just focused on our studies. No problem at all. He found a job 1 month after he finished makes $31/hour.

If your going there with a childish mentality, not "liking" school and rules, getting involved in drama and the relationships, then dont bother. You wont make it. This is giving you a taste of how the real world's gona be if you dont better yourself.

Take the knowledge and just get out.

I went to San Jose job corps in 2009. In all, it was by far the best and most unforgettable experience in my entire life. I'm really glad to have taken that opportunity to go because when I think back on it now that I am older, it really is a once-in-a-lifetime deal and I'm glad to have taken advantage of every opportunity sent my way while attending. I learned so much about myself and about others while enrolled I also learned about personal accountability and how to accept responsibility for my own actions as an adult and as a woman I also learned how to take charge and how to be a leader even when it seems tough to do so. TEAP was an awesome experience as well thanks to my counselor Chris King whom I will never forget because of his encouraging spirit kind words and genuinity and I will never ever forget all of my friends and my not so friends and all the memories that we shared. I can't say that I would miss morning clean up because there were mornings where I have to miss breakfast just to make sure someone finish their chore but I will always represent dorm 300 you already know, b****

I took material handling and customer service. Both classes were great and both instructors did very well with helping students learn by using hands on and textbook knowledge. Mr. Francisco (My Customer Service teacher) was my favorite teacher. He taught me all there is to know about the customer service industry. He helped me get job interviews and also helped me with my interviews skills. i would recommend job corps to people who want to change and be somebody one day. Living here is another story i would suggest non resident.

Going in for Computer Technology. Really liking it.

Highly recommend going in for Material Handling. You work hard enough, you could get your CLA (Certified Logistics Associate) in under three months, like I did. The instructor knows almost everyone and could easily get you a job.

First I would like to apologize in behalf of all staff about your experience. We understand that JobCorps is a big commitment and sometimes challenging. I know this first hand because I m a former job corps student and now an instructor. JobCorps changed my life and removed my brother and and I from poverty. My CPP classmates are doing amazing and are thankful for this program. I hope that you re open to sit with me or your counselor to talk about your situation and see if we can find a solution.

Also, I m the customer service instructor and reviewing the trade is not an assignment, just a kind gesture from my thankful students.

Cheers and we hope to hear from you soon.

Francisco
