Pork and & Pickle stands out above BK or Starbucks when you want that early morning breakfast! Cooked while you re there. The french toast is exactly as it should be an the fruit tasted fresh. The omelette could have been more flavorful but it was hearty and fills ya up for a day of travel. Definitely recommend taking the trip upstairs for this spot!

We ate breakfast there today. I had the skillet and it was delicious!! My husband had the frittata and had a less pleasurable dining experience. It was just ok and about half the height it should have been.

We sat at the bar and our service was awful. Two servers and the bar tender saw us sit and decided to finish their long conversation prior to verbally acknowledging us. Then after the bar tender took our order, instead of putting it in, she decided to have the same conversation with the waiter who just arrived to work. Once our food cane out, she never checked on us, again, engaging in conversation with co-workers. So my water was empty the majority of our visit. The guy next to us order wine and the bar tender spent a lot of time loudly complaining about the wine opener the company bought. She felt, "at such a fine establishment she should be given easier tools to work with." My question is- who hires a bartender that can't open a bottle of wine with a standard opener?

The food was great. We had the Mac n cheese with burnt ends. Amazing. We also got a combo. Surprisingly good BBQ. We also offered 2 drinks off menu. A Bahama Mama and an Aperol Spritz. At $17 and $14 I would rethink that request if given the chance. They weren't worth it.

Server out right discriminated against me I RARELY DRINK ALCOHOL SO I TEND TO NO ORDER ALCOHOL ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE TO DRIVE WHEN I ARRIVE AT MY DESTINATION. I stated I would like my order to go with no drink because I had a liter of water. Once I realized my flight was not leaving for an hour I asked to dine in. Prior to this she stated I needed to sit at the round table for to go orders. She proceeded to walk back to the kitchen to change my order. Upon her return she stated they have no pork or pickles. When I attempted to order wings she stated didn t you hear me we do not have that either. PEOPLE OF PIGMENT OF MINORITIES DO NOT GO IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!! YOU WILL BE DISCRIMINATED AGINST!!!! She proceeded to get real flirty with the Caucasian male next to me and only served and spoke with people with the same complexion. I contacted the director of food services. I can not get out of here fast enough.

My flight had a lay over in KC, so I decided to give Pork & Pickle a try. The restaurant is small and crowded, but I was promptly greeted and directed to the bar at my request. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. I changed my order from a beef brisket sandwich to an angus burger at the last minute and he didn t hesitate to have it changed. He also refilled my water without me asking and even offered to give me a to go water after my meal! The angus burger was SO GOOD. The meat was fresh and tender, with lots of lettuce and tomato. The bun was toasted. The sweet potato fries were flavorful and crispy. I literally cleaned my plate! And I m a picky eater. Really good food. If I m ever in the KC airport, I would visit Pork & Pickle again!

$40 for beef brisket open faced sandwich fries, and a small amount of Cole slaw and a cocktail. Service was slow which is nerve wracking with airports. BUT the only choice in this airport at B gates that wasn't snack concessions. Otherwise you have to go through security again. Food was OK. But a little overpriced for the quality. Not anything to rave or rant about.

Reviews aren't that great here but we had a great experience. We had an hour to kill so we ordered some brats and a beer and no joke, the food was brought out in like 10 minutes. As soon as we were done the waitress had the bill on our table, and it was really busy. Good food but great service and nice people. Only bad thing is the tables were really close together so you could easily hear the conversations of those next to you but that's to be expected in this tiny airport and most airports around the country.

I couldn't believe I was in an airport. Turkey sliced 1/2in thick and smoked to perfection! This is a must stop if you're hungry at MCI airport. And short on time?...no worries they are fast!

Best option at mci but really mediocre overall. They have good bbq sauce and the man and cheese was good. Pork sliders weren't great and neither were the fried pickles. The dirty chips were alright. Service was great!

The KC airport is notoriously difficult to pass through and with limited options. And yet? I make a point of connecting through a few times a year just to stop in to the Pork and Pickle. Solid BBQ, especially for an airport. Great beer selection, friendly staff, timely service. Allow a half hour if you eat fast, more if you don't.

Pork & Pickle was a pleasant surprise at the airport. It was two days before Christmas, there was a Chiefs game taking place, and the restaurant and bar were fairly full. Despite these factors, my only complaint about the service I experienced was it was a little on the slow side for drink refills, but by no means as bad as some of the other reviews I read. We were seated quickly and our order was taken as soon as we were ready - food came out fast, too. I was expecting pretentious, over-rated barbecue, but when my husband's combo plate and my dirty chips arrived, the food surpassed our expectations. We will definitely go back here the next time we fly into KC. I was sad to see so many negative reviews as this restaurant was a great experience for us.

The service here was an absolute train wreck. Our waitress was more interested is chatting with customers than making sure food that was ready made to customers. Our food sat for ten minutes at the pass while our waitress was shooting the breeze.

Additionally, the sanitation of this place was lacking. Our waitress rubbed her noise directly before grabbing our plates from the pass. Kitchen staff answered their cellphones with the gloves on and proceeded to cook with the same gloves once the call was over. For example, the staff member distributing french fries with her hands answered her phone and contributed distributing fries without changing her gloves.

Middle of the road. I've had good and not so good experiences. But if you're in the Kansas airport where else are you going to go for beer and bbq? Brisket smelled great and has been good in the past. Wings not so much (too dry).

I rarely leave reviews, and when I do, it's because I had a good experience. That was not the case at this restaurant. Believe every poor review here, aloof, rude, slow waitress and manager. Dirty paper menu (gross really), very few people in the place, asked to seat myself and waited. No water offered and shockingly expensive final bill for what I was served.
I have celiac and cannot eat anything with gluten in it. It was breakfast and all I wanted was a plain egg omlette with tomatoes and onions. As I tried to explain to the waitress what to tell the cook to prepare my food safely (cook it in a separate skillet, don't touch it with bread products and use a clean utensil to prepare it- not hard to do) she got blustery and told me they had a policy that they could not accommodate people with allergens. She called the manager over to talk to me, and he cut me off rudely as I tried to explain what I needed, saying they absolutely could not guarantee any safe food handling practices. At this point, I would have left, but I have a layover and I am starving. They reluctantly took my order. The only saving grace here is that the cook, though visibally put off by the "special order" did follow my request and I did not have a reaction to the food, but it was laughingly small portion and overcooked. A second waitress who brought my food to the table was exceptionally kind. My waitress ran my credit card and brought the receipt for me to sign, saying she would be right back with a pen, and then disappeared. I had to flag the other kind waitress down, who promptly handed me a pen and apologized for the one who was MIA in a way that made me think this was a regular occurrence. Really bad experience. Next time I will stick with Starbucks.

Breakfast hash skillet was super greasy, overcooked, & bland. Place smells greasy. One of the cooks has a super long, grey, scraggly goatee and no beard net. Saw it drag across an omelette. Vomit!
Wait staff at the bar was fine. Bottled beer selection is pretty good.

This place is really a disappointment in terms of KC BBQ. I have dined here numerous times waiting for a flight and one thing that is consistent is the ability to disappoint. Outside of a cold beer, don t waste your time here on food.

It's a barbecue restaurant in an airport. It's not Jack Stack but it is priced similarly. Good beer selection and if you are looking for good or even decent wine you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Again, it is a barbecue restaurant in an airport! It's as good as it gets!

This is where fat people come to chow down. This is the only decent restaurant in MCI. There is nothing healthy on the menu unless you meticulously pick apart one of the salads. Even the water has 100 calories in it. The wait is long. The service is average for high turnover airport fare. Given an equal or better choice, I wouldn't eat here.

The breakfast was tasty and filling. I wish I was here in time for lunch or dinner because the smell of that barbecue had me starving. The waitress was extremely nice and handle the whole floor alone very efficiently.

The ribs taste like the inside of a pig's taint. Horrible. The opposite of Jack's Stack. Absolutely gross. Who cares if it's tender if it's prepared by apathetic staff, and steaming inside a drawer, and kissed on the grill with a kiss of horrid sauce. Save your money and your tummy. You can't untaste this stuff. Yuck

One of only two sit down restaurants in Kansas city airport. Stopped here during a layover to LA. Sat down only to be told the kitchen just closed. My eyes welled up with tears. But fortunately my waiter, Chris said I ll see what I can do . Four sliders, french fries, and a Coke later I m so glad my waiter pulled through. Service was awesome food was a good bang for the buck. I came in under $20 and was totally satisfied. This restaurant totally saved my Kansas City airport experience.

Usually at restaurants you are served food. This place has a "Please Seat Yourself" sign but neglected to follow up with a "Please Serve Yourself" sign. If I could give zero stars, I would, because I walked in hungry and left 15 minutes later hungrier. If going here despite my review, be warned that you probably need to walk straight to the counter to make sure they see you. Look deep into the bartender's eyes so he doesn't have deniability. Empty your hands of bags and get ready to clap for attention (it didn't work for me but maybe it will for you?). Good luck, godspeed.

The breakfast here was good. An omlette with smoked meats and some light veggies caked with cheese and a slice of bacon. A slice of sourdough toast and a few parmesan tots. My server was very friendly and kept my water full. Also looks like a great place to grab a drink before your flight as they have a decent selection of beers. Would come back.

I had the pork sliders, didn't like them and still played $14. I only ate half of a slider OUT OF 3. The guy at the bar knew I didn't like them and did nothing to compensate. When I got the bill I mentioned my $14 fries, he mumbled and took my money. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!!

Food 4 stars, or 5 stars if you take into account ...

Food 4 stars, or 5 stars if you take into account it is airport food. Service 1 star. Hostess was outstanding, server one of the worst. Waiter Brandon, fairly quick to ask for a drink. Ordered a soda, seems easy enough. Came back minutes later for my food order. Ordered 1/2 chicken. The only "special request" was I requested no coleslaw. I did not ask for a substitution, just knew I wasn't going to eat it and I didn't want it wasted. Food came out with slaw and was missing the "special" honey butter the menu advertised with the cornbread. Still no drink. Brandon asked if I needed anything and I reminded him about the drink. Five minutes go by and still no drink. Finally, he is taking the order of the table next to me and I ask him a third time for my soda at which point I receive my drink. I wasn't expecting an apology but it would have been nice. I'm eating, food is good, glass is empty, he walks by the table 3 times without either asking or refilling so I pull the old passive aggressive move of sliding the glass to the edge of the table. Walks by a 4th time. Even the table next to me notices and makes a comment. Finally, the amazing hostess notices and refills my drink. Finish meal, he takes my plate but takes forever to bring the check. If I had cash I would have left it for the hostess directly. I have had poor service before but honestly most times it is because they are constantly working tables and just busy. I have sympathy for that and have never posted a negative comment in those situations. Not the case here. Brandon would take an order then return to hostess stand and chat with other staff, he was not overworked during the time I was there.
