Mediocre airport BBQ joint. The options are limited in the KC airport. The smoked sausage plate is the best item on the menu. Good spot to grab a drink before your flight.

Nice place to munch and drink at MCI Kansas City airport
Had a short layover and they served us really quick. The food was good and great service. We sat at the bar and was able to see what an awesome job the cooks were doing. Will definitely stop in again when we're there.
You're better off going hungry. I don't need great service, or even OK service... But I don't want A-Hole service.
Brisket and pulled pork were amazing. I was a little disappointed in the spare ribs.
Sat by the kitchen end and can safely say the only cooking they do is using the salamander to heat things. Brisket was still dry and cold - but the service was good. If you come to KC for the barbecue, do yourself a favor and don't get it at the airport.
Food is mediocre at best. The restaurant has practically no competition on this concourse and the prices reflect that. If they're going to gouge customers, at least the place oughta be clean, which it isn't. Will never return. And hopefully never have to fly through the gawd-awful KC airport again. Worst I've experienced in any major US market.
Stopped in for bkfast before my flight and had the cast iron bbq skillet hash. It had all of the perfectly kept trimmings from their in house made bbq. Absolutely wonderful. This is my go-to stop at MCI going forward
The lettuce in my wife's salmon salad was frozen and the Salmon was cardboard. The rest of the food was ok but not great. Prices are quite high.
Good food, nice atmosphere... great place to kill time for a flight!
Nice environment but on the pricey side of course it's in the airport
We got seated right away and service was okay. However the food was very bland and unimpressive. If we weren't pretty darn hungry probably would have quit after the first bite. As a Kansas City native it makes me sad to call it BBQ. It felt like there was no pride in the food being made.
Food decent, way overpriced. Needs a good cleaning.
Their BBQ is great - if you like stout, give the Buffalo Sweat a try! Definitely worth it if you're already in the airport.
I don't have a good reason, it's just I couldn't afford the food there, so I was forced to just smell it :( made me sad.
Over priced, by so many dollars. $10 for a Stella Artois??? Are you kidding me???
$18 for 4 pork ribs??? Ridiculous!!!
I come to KC for work often and I love that you can get bbq on the way out right next to the gate! The food is good and they have a good selection on tap. The bar tender was attentive.
Good place to grab a drink and something to eat. Quick service and table sitting
You wouldn't go there on purpose but once you're in the airport it's the best option and the food is tasty
Probably the worse BBQ food I have ever had. Everything was so dry and had no flavor we had the combination with brisket, sausage, and ribs then we also got the fried pickles and pork bites and honestly the pickles were the only tasty thing we had.
Only go here if you are desperate for food, don't have time to leave the airport, and nothing else is available. I came here during a layover, and honestly the food was kind of basic for the price tag it came with. Extremely pricey, and the service sucked. If you're dying for Kansas City barbecue to the extent that you'd be willing to pay $12 for a mediocre brisket sandwich, then this is the place for you.
Nothing beats BBQ in KC and they bring it to the airport immaculately...
Excellent BBQ sauce! Sweet & spicy yumminess. The cheddar fries were kinda soggy & decent coleslaw. The brisket was flavorful, tender & not too fatty. Service was courteous even though the place was packed. About a 20 minute wait on our visit. The order came quickly after being seated. Would diffinately eat here again during the next layover.
The smoked paprika turkey sammy was super tasty
The pickle was surprisingly delicious as well. It wasn't your usual side plate pickle. It was pickled in some kind of brine that wasn't too vinegary or salty with just a tad of sweetness. It also had a nice crispness. I normally write off the pickle on the plate, but that thing was a delightful sandwich accompaniment.
Perfect for any meal time, but was especially excited they had brunch and mimosas! Glad the airport has this place!
Fun place to wait for a flight. Foods good and the drink selection is more than expected. Air port prices of course
Once again, I stood in line more than 10 minutes waiting patiently to be seated as the sign indicated. No one even looked my direction. Someone else stepped off the elevator and went straight to the bar where he was promptly seated. As usual, following instructions left me standing without notice. I will NEVER return. I cannot even comment on the food as I cannot get past the front door. VERY disappointing.
DISGUSTING. All our meats were bone dry and flavorless.
No one in line, half the tables open, but still took 5 minutes to get seated. Then waited 10 minutes and no one came to serve us so we left. No time for slow service at an airport.
Hardest working staff I have seen. No one stands still. Food is awesome. Please realize how hard the wait staff is working. They are busting it to get people in and out. Appreciate all of you. Everyone is giving 110%.
Thanks Brandon, Chris, Ashley, and all the cooks, etc. for another great start to a trip!
Staff was courteous and quick. Food was above average.
The food came out fast. The food, price, and service was good.
This is by far the best option for food at the Kansas City airport. Features the local, legendary Barbecue smoked in the restaurant (not chain food brought in frozen).
The quality is on par with local establishments and exceeds a few of them. Breakfast served all day, starting at 7 am.
Several local and national brews on tap.
It smells like stale beer and the service is slow. The food was overpriced and not great. The actual meat/barbecue was decent. Fries were soggy/not cooked thoroughly. The coleslaw was disgusting. The pickle was decent. My meal was somehow supposed to be a sandwich but everything just fell apart. I paid a lot for disappointment
Tourist trap food, was just ok. Waiter was great though.
Had lunch during a layover there and the food and service were great.
Best brisket I have had lately. Good portion s and great service
Average food. Nice to have in the airport though. Small. If it's busy, there's no room for your baggage!
Excellent service and awesome BBQ. Quick stop on our way home to California
Food was not bad, but not great. The service was slow. The staff stood around talking and not paying attention to the customers. We ran out of drinks half way through our meal, but she never came back to check until it was time to drop the check.
Service was good pulled pork way too smokey if your a BBQ lover don't go here
The food was outstanding and was reasonably priced. Especially for food in an airport. There isn't much in the way of ambience. The tables are placed close together and its loud.
The service was just OK. I think this is because there were only 2 waiters for the whole restaurant. Once we placed our order, the food came quickly. Beer and soda prices are VERY HIGH.
Brisket/Sauce not up to KC standards
Wont recommend
Had another nice meal here, went with the hot smoked salmon salad. A nice light option. This place is always busy but if you have some time it's one of the better meals you can get at an airport. Staff is usually pretty responsive, they stay busy though. I've had the wedgie salad before too, but would recommend the salmon.
Could taste the gas from cooking on the bacon. Italian sausage normally has really good flavor, but this did not! Also, the pretzel bun that the sausage came in was bland. For an expensive airport meal that was sure disappointing.
Haven't eaten there, but the beer and staff is friendly an efficient. If I had food I would be able to day more or give better ratings.
For a city that is known for its BBQ, this place was pretty disappointing. I got a brisket sandwich which was slathered in so much sauce it covered the bottom of the bun. The cheese was only on one side. It also wasn't a KC style sauce (it was mustard based, which I don't like), but I guess I should have asked about that part. Two of the three brisket pieces were ok, but the third one I couldn't bite through and had to cut it with a knife.
For a place that has pork in the name, you'd think they'd have a pulled pork sandwich but nope.
The Paparika Turkey sandwich is huge and filling. It's delicious. Get it with the cheddar fries.
Count your bones... Ate there yesterday before taking off. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and friendly. Overall good experience, EXCEPT I ordered the full rack of ribs "8 Bones" and received two three bone racks. I mentioned it to the bartender who got it taken care of immediately by guess what... giving me another 3 bone rack. Makes me think this is either a really bad honest (yet ongoing) mistake or a known bait and switch.
Pretty good place for an airport. Over priced, but your on vacation headed out of town so all good. Good food. Great place to kill and hour waiting on flight.
Incredibly good food for an airport restaurant! Barbeque is very good, especially their fall-off-the-bone ribs. Burgers are also very tasty, and their "links" are delicious. Good beer selection. Place gets VERY busy but crew knows people are in a hurry and are quick with service. Inarguably the best place to eat at MCI.
Wow, amazing, never ever did I think food could hit a new disgusting low, but they managed at the pork and pickle at KCI Airport. And did they care about how bad the foods was as I explained to the server she simply said that's how the food is here.
Beef brisket 70% fat, I mean rearelly chewy fat. Looked like and tasted like it was steamed. Cole slaw was nothing more than cabbage and milk. No vinegar at all, fries that were like 3 day old wendy's fries. Aviod this place, save your money buy a sandwich at the gas station before you decide eating here.
Good food, fast service. Guy next to me had plastic in his food though and it wasnt offered comped
Really overpriced for what you get. A perfect example of what happens when a business has no competition. Our orders were incorrect and the server was terrible.
They forgot our order and when we asked how much longer since our flight was boarding soon the waitress commented everyone is getting on a flight . Wow what bad customer service! We cancelled our order and left.
I had breakfast at Pork & Pickle, so I cannot speak for the lunch or dinner full-meal options, but the breakfast was fantastic. My group tried several offerings and we're very pleased. We are right as soon as they opened, at 7:00am, and the staff were still attentive and courteous. Food was brought out quickly and the drinks tasted good too. It was a bit pricey, yet that should be expected for airport food and drinks. The barbequed meat is definitely a good choice.
Bright and lively sit down restaurant upstairs. I sat at the bar. The server was very pleasant. I ordered the grill cheese bac Tom and egg sandwich w tots, and coffee. It was busy - my order took 25mins to show. I was pleased though- delicious sandwich on grilled sourdough. It was 1st rate, worth the wait.
You never really what you're gonna have available during a lay over, and let's face it, you really don't associate good food and airports. We're always happy to get a quick bite of the usual fast food fare, or better yet some pub grub with a little local character. Pork and Pickle certainly impressed us.
While it's technically pub grub with a local character, it really rises above the standard fare. I won't rate it up as high in charm or flavor as some of my other KC BBQ places, but worth a taste if you get the chance.
We grabbed take out around 5PM on a Monday ... there were a few tables and seats at the bar available.
It good for airport food. Everything in this airport closes early that sucks.
Mixed drinks were watery, but the food was tasty for an airport restaurant
Staff was less than enthused to help even tho it was only 830. Food was semi warm and not anything special.
If I'm back in the Kansas City Airport, I'll stop here again.
Best lunch spot in the KC airport. Nice being inside security, but a floor above the fray...
Good food, but very busy so service was slow. Definitely visit if you have time to wait, but don't expect a quick meal before catching a flight.
High prices of course since it's in KCI Airport....but not bad good...
The KC airport doesn t have a lot of choices so I was excited when this opened. I ve eaten here several times before flying out and it s always been delicious . The breakfast hash skillet is SO good. The decor is charming, the staff could be friendlier but it didn t really affect the meal. It s a great way to get your bbq fix before you leave KC!
Absolutely AMAZING! The mac n cheese is delicious! The supervisor Mike is a friend for life!
Confused by the bad reviews! High food quality (the grilled cheese with bacon, tomato, and egg is delicious) and exceptional service. Really exceptional. Gregory is a total pro, paying close attention to every customer at a packed bar, providing advanced advice on food and beverage, and never leaving a glass empty or a patron waiting. Very prompt and attentive service without being intrusive. He's doing a legit fine-dining-level job at an airport restaurant. His coworkers all appear to be working at the same level. This is a smooth operation and I recommend it.
Staff would rather be on their phones than tend to customers
Yummy BBQ, but had a but of a wait to get a table. Loved the BBQ slidders with pickels and coleslaw on too of beef brisket. Delicious!
Not worth it. Came over from the other terminal because people said it was good. Paid $15 for the brisket sandwich. VERY FATTY. had to asked to be waited on, had to point out my food was ready and to have it brought over. Live and learn I guess.
The beans were good!
It's inside a tiny airport, but this restaurant is surprisingly big inside. It had a large bar area, good food, and good drinks. The drinks were kinda pricey, but that could be from state taxes not the restaurant itself. Overall wasn't expecting much but was happily surprised by this place.
We ate here on a quick layover. The pulled pork sliders and paprika smoked turkey sliders were fantastic. The service was fast, friendly, and polite.
Food was just okay. The prices are sky high but the airport probably screws them on rent. I could have had a free appetizer from the old food that was stuck to the menu. The restaurant really needs a good deep cleaning. Since it's the only place to get "fresh" food, you are kind of captive to what they have.
I fly about 300 days a year and KMCI has always sucked for everything from bathrooms to food. Hopefully the new terminal will be better but I'll believe it when I see it.
I wanted some KC bbq during our long layover. Brandon our server was very attentive and helpful with our meal selections. I ordered the three meat combo. The brisket was tender and juicy, ribs had a lot of flavor but the sausage was not on the same level. Actually, the sausage was disappointing. Fries were crispy and not oily. I ended the meal with the tasty ice cream sandwich which consisted of two chocolate chip cookies, a scope of vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and a powdered sugar garnish. All requested napkins were happily supplied and a soda to go was offered. Could use a little more cleaning between customers.
Very unhelpful staff. All I wanted was some barbecue before my flight. Out of ribs (seemingly a regular occurrence), so no 3 meat combo. Would not allow substitutions for those on restricted diets. Can't say if the brisket is any good because I gave up and left. Bah.
