We ate dessert in the Tavern and it was scrumptious. The coffee was perfect (I enjoy a milder flavor) and the sweet tea was as I've come to expect in KY, which is very good. I really loved my pumpkin cheesecake drizzled in maple syrup and side of whipped cream, delicious. My wife loved the bourbon sauce coverd bread pudding (always available and fantastic). My daughter had their chocolate cake which was phenomenal. The cost was a little high but our waitress, Ruth, made us feel comfortable and welcomed (we felt a little under dressed in the luscious setting)... Totally worth it.

Classic elegance, modern amenities, superb service
Stayed five nights in July 2020 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything about the property is charming. All of the staff were professional, pleasant, and personable.
There is an abundance of space to sit and talk in two large rooms on the first floor and another large room on the second floor, all with gorgeous antique furniture. The brick walk out back has a number of benches, chairs and tables shaded under the small trees. Having the restaurant downstairs (excellent food) and the shops on the same block is nice, and there's quite a bit more within walking distance or a short drive. Take advantage of being able to dine or have drinks on the porch.
The room was big enough. The bed sagged in the middle and had a soft mattress. Normally this would be a disaster for our backs, but did not have a problem after five nights. There are plenty of strategically located electrical outlets throughout the room. The master switch at the door, for turning off all of the lights in the room, is genius. The shower worked well, though the the body wash bottles are hung in the way on the wall, easily getting knocked off. (Would have been better at either end of the wall.) The room did have a small refrigerator, but no microwave. They had us bring food down to the front desk, where they microwaved it for us in their back room. WIFI was slow.
NOTE: The air conditioning worked well after we had them adjust it for us. It has some kind of power-saver setting that would let the room get too hot during the night, then eventually make it too cool when it kicked on after we'd thrown off the covers. Having a ceiling fan in the room was nice.
Never had a problem parking out back. There are good maps of Berea and the county in the desk drawer, as well as other helpful info.
Located in the middle of a quiet college town. The service in the hotel and restaurant was great. The food was slightly bland, a little disappointing for the price. The rooms are quaint, clean, and surprisingly up-to-date.
We have long considered staying at Boone Tavern on our trips South. And we finally did! Inspite of it being Kentucky Derby weekend, we still we're able to reserve a comfortable room. The options were more limited for that weekend, but we were comfortable and we love history and art (functional is a specialty and abounds in Berea and Boone Tavern. Berea College Campus is lovely as it surrounds the charming town.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Had my first KY hot brown and it was delicious. Host and servers were the best. Thank you Boone Tavern for a fine dining experience.
Historic and full of charm. Rooms aren't spacious but just what you need. Staff could not be friendlier and the restaurant is world famous (and deserving of its reputation)
What can you say about historic Berea KY! A wonderful artist and college community andthe icing on the cake was visiting the Boone Tavern. You can easily envision the history and values of this place.
Made reservations on line..did not know a third party (expedia). Was told dining open until 10pm..arrived at 810pm it closed at 800pm. Was told that it would be a queen bed, no it was a double..we asked where a good place to eat..right next door..an Italian restaurant..flavorless food..went back to the room we decided to shower we had one towel..I called front desk and asked to have one brought up..the desk clerk told me she would have and I could come down and pick it up..I said that won't do..she brought up towels out of the washer..wet..I finished my shower..took the wet towels downstairs...I got 2 towels..dry..she couldn't have cared less..I brought it up as we were checking out the manager at the desk..couldn't care less..no apology..berea college runs this place..they should be ashamed...
Amazing food, horribly understaffed. It took 18 minutes for our waiter to come to the table and 46 minutes between visits. Ultimately not his fault, he was one of two waiters working the entire room on a Saturday night. But again amazing food, almost worth the wait.
The location of Boone Tavern is right in the middle of Berea and it's surrounded by the Berea College. This place is not only my hometown but and absolutely beautiful place to live and visit. People here are friendly and courteous. Boone Tavern hotel is as nice as they come as far as food and for an overnight stay. It's overall a beautiful place to stay.
Hotel was very clean and decorated beautiful for Christmas. The employees were so friendly and professional. Our room had complimentary rooms and slippers plus a little Keurig coffee maker even a down comforter... myself and my husband were well pleased and highly reccomend this historical hotel to everyone and anyone... enjoy your stay in college town of Berea KY
Stopped in just to take a look at the hotel lobby and shop. Very nice paintings of Lincoln and Daniel Boone. Interesting to see the history of the building.
My mom had memories of visiting Boone tavern as a kid so when we were in Berea we stopped by. Even if you're not staying there it's very cool to look around, admire their landscaping, and read up on the history. They have a very nice little coffee shop too.
We are so grateful to have such a reliably lovely, classy, immaculate Hotel in our trips North & South. The staff goes above & beyond, is professional & friendly; the food beyond compare. The icing on the cake is their rooms are beautifully done, comfy, & they let our dogs stay! The grounds are well lit, the hotel is green & the location makes visiting the shops (filled with handmade goodies) so easy.
We loved the motel and the staff were wonderful. We did have issues however...the breakfast was terrible. We went to the rest. Around 9am and found the food cold, not prepared well and unbelievably if you want toast with a basic breakfast you have to order it separate! My omelet was the worst I have ever had. Too bad, I loved the dining room. I was scared to try any other meal there.
Very old hotel built in 1909. The place is beautiful! They have a variety of beds to choose from during check in. Check in went smoothly and consisted of college students working here. The place is very clean and the bed I'm currently laying on is very comfy. There is a elevator to the upper floors. There is a nice restaurant here. You get a real key for the door. In room TV. The room has a ceiling fan, small fridge hidden under the TV and a coffee maker. But no microwave at least in this room. Very nice here. I recommend it. There is a small cafe attached for coffee, beer and wine. Johanna (prob spelled wrong) was very nice and helpful. If you have the chance. Stay here.
Wonderful dining experience in a truly distinguished setting, harkening back to a bygone era. The food was outstanding, competitive with cuisine we ve enjoyed in much more cosmopolitan surroundings. Nothing was disappointing with this experience. I encourage anyone considering this as a possible stop on their journey to read the history of Boone Tavern and Berea in order to understand the uniqueness of this dining experience. The service is as fine as the food.
Service, food and facilities were excellent. I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner and was very impressed with Boone Tavern! Another guest ordered a drink from the bar area and I was blown away at the cost. A simple whiskey sour was $10! If your planning on drinking bring plenty of cash!
This place is always been accomodating and hospitable. Its what you would expect from southern charm. The staff is always very professional which I appreciate as a business traveler and expect will be coming back for manu years to come.
Our waiters were extremely courteous, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. They came and checked on us at appropriate times throughout our visit. The cheeseburger my son ordered was delicious because it was from a local Kentucky farm and cooked perfectly to order. I ordered the Hot Brown and it too was prepared perfectly. The rest of the table ordered the Bird's Nest and my family was very pleased with their orders as well. The lunch was for my mother. She had a great time! As we walked out she stopped by the front desk already asking about reservations for next year's Thanksgiving! Thank you all for a great experience with my family and mother!
Historic setting, but it's staffed by folks that really don't have a passion for the restaurant. Some great food, particularly the shareables. No explanations of the menu, specials, bourbon or wine list from our server. They let us reserve a table for 16, but didn't mention that the kitchen closed 30 minutes after our reservation time. Result was no dessert or after-dinner coffee available for out of town business guests.
The fantastic building looks out over the beautiful small town of Berea. The rooms are ample in size with a shower and bath in each. A small bath store nearby sells luxury items if you wish to soak in the tub. Breakfast is not included but several nearby eateries are available for you to lounge in. A beautiful place to stay.
Hotel accommodations very good, ate dinner at the hotel and ordered the lamb chops at $37. I was brought 1 chop with literally 2-3 bites of meat on it, I kept wondering when they would bring the second half? Told the desk clerk at checkout that I was disappointed with the restaurant and he halfway said Sorry and continued the checkout process without even asking why I was disappointed. Very poor customer service .
The atmosphere was inviting, the hotel was very clean and the staff was very professional and attentive. The food was remarkable. The dining area was elegant yet simple, staying true to the time period and history of Boone tavern
We went to Boone Tavern for Sunday brunch that had a good variety of delicious food, but the brunch was a little expensive. It is in a good area to walk around and look at crafts.
Beautiful! Staff was friendly and helpful. They didn't have the extra cot in the room as stated at checkin, but brought it right up when I reminded them. Easy access to close shops and Berea College tour start. Glad to see this old building still open and nicely kept. Great job!
We are going back for brunch today. Hope it's as good as dinner. They have spoon bread which I am told is a local thing. It was good an a neat thing to talk about.
Overall great place to overnight with clean rooms. The quality of food can be iffy though. Desk staff is always helpful and friendly and there are a couple nice places to eat close by. Favorite part is sitting on the large spacious porch during good weather.
