The best hotel to enjoy Hawaii with children! Especially the fireworks in the lagoon and Friday are the best! The luau show seemed a little scary to our little ones, but it's definitely a must-try for adults who are doing hula.

When I checked in on Jan 3, 2014 the lady that checked me in was rude and in a hurry, room I had paid to upgrade to was not the room they put me in, room was small and their idea of Ocean view was 200 yards away a cross roof tops and loading docks, lienen was old looking, bath room had one sink in it and tub and shower combined.... had bigger and better in double wide trailers I've stayed in, Oh Yeah and they had the refrigerator in the bath room by the TOILET ......Yeap real class for a room I paid over $450 a nite for after all the extra charges and for a Hilton Resort in Waikiki Hawaii ....I will never stay there again and don't recommend it at all..... in fact give the dump a neg. -5 on a scale of 1 thur 10 plus put them on lasvegascomplaints that I own!!!!!! DO NOT STAY THERE!!!!!!!!
There are many swimming pools and it's great for kids to play with, but the resort is old and the facilities are not good. But the atmosphere is so good
The rooms are old not very clean and the pictures online look nothing like the actual hotel. Plus the fee you pay upfront is met by a bunch of hidden resorts fees upon check in and check out. Don't waist your time or money.
The front desk and check in was terrible. My father worked for the Fairmont hotel so I was able to experience hospitality at it's finest, this hotel pails in comparison. Obviously the Hilton and Fairmont is an unfair comparison.
What really bothered me was that as my family and I had gotten off of a 5 hour plane ride the Hilton made our experience checking in exhausting and more frustrating than it had to be.
First off, you enter the main lobby and expect some kind of hospitality, but none of the staff is friendly or even offers you some water. There is a long line that you have to figure out yourself nobody is there to greet or assist you.
Even worse, the main lobby is extremely hot and humid yet there is no fans or water available to incoming guests. There are fans above the front desk employees but the guests are subjected to the humid weather, doesn't make any sense to me. Why not have fans or ac above the guests waiting to check in or even water?
Even worse was the wait just to check in almost took an hour! Mind you I have 2 young children in our group and the reservation was booked far in advance. Finally, as we get to the front desk after waiting almost an hour in line just to check in the front desk employee takes forever staring at the computer screen asking irrelevant questions that only further prolong the check in process. When I asked why the check in process takes so long, I was told that the system to print key cards is slow.
It's August the peak tourist season in Hawaii and this hotel is under staffed and under trained at the front desk and there is no accountability except to blame an inatimate machine that prints key cards. There is much more wrong with the front desk than a slow machine.
The guests need to be treated properly. Greet the guests as they enter the lobby, make sure the guests are comfortable, make sure to check the guests in a timely manner. These are all basic things that need to be addressed by the Hilton but seem to go way over their head.
Good location and value but long lines to check-in or breakfast can drive you crazy sometimes. Oh keep in mind at the $40 breakfast they might sit you and your kids at the broken table that literally falls on you. Apparently nobody is concerned, they say they *know* how to fix it... nuts.
Perfect stay in this hotel. Little bit bigger on the map. Perfect spot bihind the city of wikiki. You need to walk 3 min to get great restaurants. The hotel's restaurant was expentive but you can get friday night ah 7h45pm fireworks on the beach. Woow i love it.
This is an amazing location for anyone with smaller kids. The lagoon and surrounding beach is a great way for kids to splash around. If you want the ocean, it is only a short walk away. The only downside it is a long walk to the main strip.
I had a very disappointing stay here. Check in took a very long time. When I finally got to the desk i was told that not old did i have to switch rooms in the middle of my stay but i was in a room with 3 single beds when i knew i'd booked a King room. My work travel agency did book separate reservations but they had called and confirmed i wouldn't have to move and I would have a King room. I explained this to the front desk but they said the only way they would honor this would be if my rate was bumped from 250 a night to over 500. I tried to go back later for help but the staff was consistently rude and unaccomodating. In addtion i didn't find the room nice at all. If you didn't want to do something directly in the resort (it's all EXTREMELY expensive) you would need to have a long walk or uber. That all being said the absolute worst part of the stay was the loud music. Every single night of my stay there was music so loud it actually shook my windows. I was in HI on business and this made it impossible to sleep and be prepared for the next day. I read online that this music is every single night. When i was there it was on until 11:30 or midnight. If you want to sleep i wouldn't recommend staying here. Overall a horrible experience and i'm a loyal hilton customer.
My favorite stretch of beach in Waikiki. Mix of visitors and locals. Clean. Gentle waves, warm water make for a great beach day. Friendly staff always willing to help with all your needs.
I only got to spend one day at the resort. The staff was super helpful and the facilities were pretty awesome! The three main towers are built around a huge grounds that includes many activities for the family.
The one downfall that I found was that some of the more convenient food options closed early, which forced me to walk (I could've taken the shuttle for a 2$ fee) about 20 minutes to the nearest shopping plaza. However, the plaza included many great options like a market, Starbucks, etc.. so if you have time on your hands it's not too bad.
Amazing structure. This place continues to impress me. I don't know where to look next all I know is that I must enjoy every second of this. It's definitely something I recommend to everyone I know.
I stayed at Alii. Check-in can be done in the Alii Tower so it's smooth without waiting. The private swimming pool was small but full of peaceful atmosphere unique to the private swimming pool, so I was often here rather than the lagoon. The staff smiles and smiles every time, and I got a lot of small happiness and got some fruits at the front desk and the pool. I want to stay here again.
I can't say enough good things about Hilton. The staff was amazing. The view was even more amazing. When we go back and we will this is our go to hotel. THANK YOU HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE.
To many people I can to celebrate 30 yers anevrsery , to have a good time with my husband.it was too crowded service was very bad ,I will never come back
I was a little nervous coming here based on the reviews in flier talk. I am glad I actually did. While it is pretty crowded, I did find lots to do and have had a relaxing vacation.
The only advantage of this hotel is the location. It s a massive property and the staff is friendly but not very helpful in most times. Shops and restaurants are very pricy and almost feels like a ripoff. I had to pay attention to my charges in very detail as they made a few mistakes, although they were able to sort it out. It has > 3000 rooms which creates chaos around the usual checkin and checkout times and they only had a handful of agents out even with long lines. The room was okay for a standard Hilton property. Access to other parts of the city is not great and wait time for restaurants on property easily gets 40-45 minutes. Pools are good but overcrowded most of the time.
Aloha Hilton Hawaiian Village Perfect central location for Waikiki. Can walk to most destinations including restaurants, bars, main town, Ala Moana shopping mall. The hotel is connected to the beach and lagoon. Activities can be booked from the hotel and they are reasonable price. I recommend the turtle or dolphin swim. You get to swim with them in the wild. The hotel is made up of many towers, the ALI tower is the nicest one in my point of view. Staff are friendly. Rooms are kept in mint condition and are serviced well.
we family host our annual family trip at this resort. This place is excellent for family with kids b/c they have good facilities to accommodate younger kids (shallow pools, water slides, day-care, ..). we also enjoyed the on-site restaurants and shops. The rooms can use some updates (based on our stay in 2014)so that is the only reason for not giving 5-stars.
We stayed at the Rainbow tower and had a great view. The food and service were great. The only problem was the occasional smokers walking the grounds. Hilton should do more to notify foreign tourist that smoking is not permitted and enforce that rule.
This place is awesome, one downfall, I'll get to that later on. If you've been doing research, this place is massive in scale, if you have trouble walking or mobility issues look elsewhere. You'll need a solid 15minutes to walk to various areas in the resort. This place is expensive, all the boutique shops are much more expensive versus anything outside the resort. Ask to be upgraded to Rainbow tower, it's worth every penny and it's the closest to the beach. Our views and overall stay was fantastic. The resort is very central to everything on Waikiki. Now the bad, this hotel is like a city, very disorganized and long waits at checkin. We are Hilton honors members, but we waited a long time to check in and get situated. All in all a solid 4 out 5, if they can get more efficient on checkin and getting our rooms ready sooner, I'd rate them 5/5. We've been here before, this wont be our last trip to Hilton Waikiki Village, we'll be back in a few years.
I know that the place is 62 years old, but they work hard to keep the rooms in the older towers and campus amenities updated. I was however disappointed that a hotel campus so large, with over 3,300 rooms, would have such a skimpy fitness center. It felt like two hotel rooms were scrunched together and labeled a "Fitness Center." That was such a joke. I ended up driving 15 minutes away to go to a 24 hour fitness downtown
Lovely staff, great rooms, and wonderful service. Has open breakfast from 6am till 10am and free happy hour from 5:30pm till 7:30pm (for select drinks). Our bartender was fabulous and was there each day of our stay and was extremely pleasant to get to know. Will stay here again given the chance!
This is exactly what you think a Hawaiian resort should be like. Not just a hotel. Restaurants, shopping, pools, beach, grounds to wander around. Walking distance to Waikiki. Used to have penguins (!) there but they were shipped to Baltimore.
A lot of family activity, which isn't uncommon in hawaii. The staff we're really nice so we're the rooms and the resort scenery! They're are a lot of activities to do to on the premises which makes it convenient and easy to plan the day. Overall I would come back.
We were supposed to get a Queen bed but they ended up giving us two full sized beds. To make up for it, they upgraded us to an ocean view (though we have a feeling it was actually a big charade to make us *think* we got an upgrade ...). My only real complaint is that there were way too many children crowding every pool. There should be adult-only pools for those of us who dont want to get splashed and jumped on and deal with screaming, running kids who may or may not be peeing in the pool when we are trying to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary trip. We could go to the Holiday Inn if thats what we were looking for.
Great resort. The kids pool is great and even though you need a life jacket for smaller kids in the bigger water slide, my son enjoyed the smaller water slide just fine. The rooms are nice and clean, found the beds a bit hard but I find that on almost all hotels! Lots of shopping in the resort if that is something your looking for. The staff we saw were always friendly and polite. Easy beach access and some nice places to eat. Really easy to walk into Waikiki and visit some other restaurants and attractions.
Commercial resort, very expensive, you can find better hotels for less money and even better rooms, you cannot touch anything at the resort because of the high prices
The suite was awesome! Along with being fully stocked with supplies for eating in which can save you a bit if you want to do some shopping. Unfortunately the distance from the main Waikiki area is the biggest draw back and the reason for 4/5. Every time you want to go out you need to take a bus, car, or walk 15-30 minutes to everywhere.
We are timeshare owners and come here on a regular basis. Great location. Beach is just steps away as the hotel cluster is beachfront. The beach view units are amazing while the city view units are actually not bad. Shopping and food is available in the village. If you don't want to leave the resort, you can easily get everything you need from within. Walking to the strip is about 10 min. Friendly and helpful staff who will help you with any questions or requests.
We had planned our honeymoon trip to Hawaii for years. But as soon as we arrived to the front desk it was a nightmare. A woman named Kristen checked us in, who I believe was a supervisor. First off, she was gossiping/ranting about a particular family with a co-worker throughout this encounter. I believe she got into a disagreement with them and was still heated about it, but it is not ok to call your guests racist profanity in front of others. We tried our best to ignore it.
Then, when I pointed out that the room she assigned us was not the category that we had booked, she gave a bad attitude, was condescending and rude. She said that there was nothing that she could do because the hotel was "sold out" and did not offer any alternative. It reflects poorly on Hilton for employing individuals with such poor communication skills and basic manners. We cancelled our reservation on the spot and went to another hotel. For the same price you can get something way better on the island.
I became a diamond Hilton Honors member over the years, but they just lost a loyal customer.
I have to give 4 stars because in itself the resort has all you need to just relax and be by the beach, the pool, or a lagoon. It has shopping, restaurants, tours, it is walking distance to parks, beaches, and other things. The rooms are decent, but i did have issue with the bed being a little uncomfortable and no hot water. Would i return of course, who wouldnt with bars so close to the beach and pools, night time walking, beautiful scenery, you just cant go wrong. Some of the staff were a little rude which was a little disheartening but that can be overlooked but not excusable. Still would stay again. Loved the view from the rainbow room it was amazing overlooked the lagoon and saw the luau show and sunset. Next time might choose the beach view balcony room.
I stayed at Rainbow Tower with my family in Hawaii for the first time. Anyway, the view from the room on the high floor is the best! Though it was ocean view, I thought before entering the room whether it was on the mountain side, but there was no problem at all. Waikiki Beach and the horizon can be seen completely behind the Diamond Head, and I felt strongly that I was in Hawaii. Because there is nothing obstructing the view of the hotel location, it is a hotel that you can bring in to see Waikiki Beach from the lanai of the room. There are many hotels in Waikiki, but I think there is no loss if you choose here.
Stayed over night woth my wife and the service was really good. Great room great bed and all was great would recommend for a nice vacation right on the beach
The grounds are absolutely amazing. The shops and restaurants on the property are good but pricey. The resort is in a great location. That is a big reason we always choose the hilton.
Absolutely amazing location situated in between the busy part of Waikiki and amenities of Ala Moana on a wide stretch of beach. We love staying here since it s very kid friendly and provides a lot of options to keep them busy. If your looking for a larger room try and get a corner unit in the tapa tower, you will be impressed with the extra space. A++
