My wife end I spent the night of 26 August 2016 at the Cardiff Hilton. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out, perfectly located across from Cardiff Castle (definitely do both the self-guided and personally guided tours there) and steps from the surprisingly accessible city center with lots of restaurants, shops and a large performance center, St. David's Hall. Our room was large, bright, comfortable, very clean and had a view of the Castle. Our included breakfast was excellent and the staff in the dining room was always responsive, especially Katarczyna. The concierge and bell service were most helpful with handling of bags, loaning us an electrical converter, local directions and arrangements. Mark was especially cordial and helpful. They were able to quickly and easily arrange coach service to Bristol airport when I discovered I had not completed the reservation for 27Aug. I thought I had made before leaving home. We didn't have time to avail ourselves of the pool, Living Well health club and Razzi restaurant, but they look great on the hotel web-site. We did enjoy a quick lunch, with a wide variety of selections, at the Costa Coffee shop immediately adjacent to the hotel lobby. We would most definitely stay there again.

The room was really good spacious immaculate great view and could not see a fault in it only bad thing is I think room needed more light since there is only one main light in the executive rooms all the rest are lamps but during the day the natural light just bursts in the nice big window
Room service is so fast and perfectionist
Breakfast is a buffet so depends what time you go the quality of it might be a bit dry due to it been under the lamps but is still pretty good and the different types of juices they have is impressive my fab was this one whit spinach cucumber and a few things more in it was delicious and the staff are really attentive
The night manager needs to learn some customers service skills he is arrogant and patronising basically there was a misunderstanding with the reservation and wee did not get something were were told we could instead of apologising or indicating who wee could refer to wee got told " more important people then you stay here and don't get that why would you?"
Apart from the things I definitely would recommend this hotel.

Arrival at the hotel was very easy going, and the front of house staff were pleasant and humorous which made my experience feel comfortable and pleasant. My room was wonderful with a view as requested of Cardiff Castle. Breakfast was substantial, hot and lots of choice. It was a great stay overall as the bed was comfy and the swimming facilities were excellent. All the staff were pleasant and pleasant and approachable.

Very good hotel. Polite staff, excellent breakfast, will make omelette on request. City Centre shops all within stone's throw distance. Room very big, excellent bathroom, very good Wi-Fi connection, although have to log in every 24hrs. All in all, a very good experience, will stay again if visiting this city.

So the Hilton Cardiff is a nice hotel, however, it lacks any sort of personal touch that you get from other Hilton Hotels. The room I had was very spacious (King Room Executive), if not lacking amenities like in some Hiltons - coffee machines etc. The bathroom is huge however and with a separate shower ideal if you have issues getting in to a bath. My room wasnt ready when I arrived that I had pre-ordered on the Hilton App, however was quickly given a room and a slight upgrade due to my Hilton Privilege Level. The executive lounge is adequately stocked and the complimentary breakfast is ok. If you want a full breakfast your have to eat in the main restaurant and pay any charges for doing so. The hotel itself isn't the cheapest option in the immediate vicinity to the Castle. However, my room did give me a Castle View.

We wanted to see capital of Wales, having never visited it before and decided to book family room in Hilton Cardiff with dinner and breakfast.
We have three children 11,8 and 1 and deluxe family room was adequately sized for us.
We were on fifth floor and access via lifts meant no problems going in and out with all essentials and buggy.
Hotel is well placed for shopping and Cardiff Castle as well as Civic Centre and Bute Park, about half hour brisk walk to Cardiff Bay. Parking is hard to find around so leaving the car in the hotel might be a good idea.
Facilities wise there is swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, first two are kids friendly and in the morning we found it to be better time to enjoy as a lot less people. There are floats available to childrens' use including special ones for infants - so thumbs up from us there.
Internet access is not free and rather costly and choice of free TV channels is reasonable, unfortunately no Cbeebies for little ones but CBBC is on, you can get extra movies etc for extra cost.
We found bathroom to be a good size with bath and shower cubicle but toiletries were limited to one small tube of each: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap bar - not enough for a family of five, so don't forget yours. Also lack of dressing gowns and slippers was regrettably noticed due to liking them when staying in other hotels of the Hilton group.
Overall well cleaned and well decorated room but small details like cracked handle of the kettle, slightly exposing light bulb and knob missing on the mixer in the tab - to switch from shower to bath. And tea selection rather poor again, with only two tea bags for a family of five(or 4 as baby does not drink tea yet really).
Staff was welcoming and helpful so top marks on customer service, loved waitress in Breakfast - shame did not have cash on me to leave as tips as she really deserved it.
Dinner - was not great - choice seemed good but execution and most importantly taste was a let down on mains of plaice and sea bass, however kids pizza was nice and they seemed to have enjoyed it. Desserts were ok, favourite being apple pie, with tiny splodge of mascarpone - could improve on giving a bit more of it, lemon tart and ice cream were just ok. Took great pictures with the view to the Castle.
Breakfast good selection, only down side seemed pastries were not as fresh as you would get at bakery, but really impressed with choice.
Overall would recommend as ok, definitely pleasant but not wow and child friendly.

I went to Schmoo the Spa, whilst I can't fault the treatment I had the facial or the staff they were friendly and welcoming. What was disappointing was that bathrobes and slippers were not provided, essential to me for relaxing and having the full spa experience. Also the chill out area is just off the gym with the constant thump thump of the treadmills disturbing for a total chill out. Such a shame really as the staff and treatment is superb.

Visited yesterday and had the most fabulous afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were amazing and the choices of tea was fantastic . I opted for the white pear and ginger and just loved it- loved the little egg timer that was provided so you could time the infusion and decide on the strength . What a lovely touch . Staff and the manager were super friendly - everything had a personal touch. Such a warm and friendly place to dine. I will definitely be back soon .

Went down for breakfast and was told the conservatory was full so we where sat in the bar area. When we walked back into the buffet area the host was sitting a couple on reserved tables. We were told at reception that we could not reserve a table! Why were some guests getting preferential treatment?
We complained at reception and no action was taken.
We have been to hundreds of hotels and never been made to feel so unwelcome, unfairly treated and unheard.

thanks for your reply but we did ask on two separate occasions at reception and was told we could not book. some guests must get preferential treatment

Very good staff, good location as long as you get an outside , castle side room, otherwise could be noisy. Good choice of breakfast food although both days the fried food was warm rather than hot. Luck of the draw on what other guests are like, Cardiff seems to be a stag and hen capital too now so can be a bit rowdy. Rooms OK if a little tired, and Exec lounge a bit disappointing, particularly if you've ever tried the canary wharf one. Prices vary hugely, can literally be double so keep checking back .

The Hotel as a Whole is Nice and Friendly, but the Service Requests are Unattended. Wifi is Really Pathetic for a Hotel like Hilton. Didn't expect it to be this poor even after several Complaints. TV Repair Requests go unheard at the Reception. Not a Very Pleasant Stay.

Really disappointed with our stay in June we upgraded our room and it was a very standard room not worth the money, it was dirty and no one wanted to talk to us at the front desk. Good job we enjoyed Cardiff but never stay at the hilton again. Run down, dirty and even the fridge didn't work! Premier Inn you get better rooms at half the price!
