The room was clean, and large (we got the suite for kids); bathroom enormous; but it was oddly lacking in basic things such as a towel bar, an office hair, and couches seemed to cave in the middle.

Pool was great for the kids; gym was basic but has weights, it could use a pull up and dips bar.
Sauna was off likely due to COVID19.

Tim Hortons is just next door, so that helps with the coffee situation

N.B. it's a pet friendly hotel, so there's a noticeable odor of a previous dog in attendance (who may or may not has been washed in the room).

I'm giving our review 1 star. We stayed in a fireplace suite. The floor in the bathroom was dirty. The shower stall doors did not close. The pool was nice but the hot tub was not working. It was colder then the pool. The hot water in our room was also not hot. We could only have a Luke warm shower with the temperature cranked all the way hot.
We met friends for dinner the night we checked in and the food at the pub was definitely sub par. Nachos were cooked to a crisp. On a positive note, the waitress that served us was polite and attentive.
Overall I would not recommend staying at this hotel due to the cleanliness and broken shower stall.

Wow! Everyone who gave this place a good rating needs to give their heads a shake. This is a dive and not worth the money I paid for a room. The place is old and tired, and not very clean at all. It served its purpose for the one night, but if I was in town for more than one night, I'd have found somewhere different to stay after one night here. It DOES NOT deserve a 3 star rating...2 at best.

It was a bit old and outdated for my tastes, especially for the price. It had the level of quality that I'd expect in a hotel half its price.

However, when you look past that, there was no major problems that came up.

I was in Orillia for a wedding on Saturday and was to stay at the Highwayman Inn. Don't know where to start but I guess I'll start with the positive, staff was nice during check in but did not mention the construction going on. New hottub... with merky water and water line was below jets unusable, old hottub outside on the grass. My room was at the end of the hall in which I had to pass by about 10 rooms all ripped apart actually destroyed with the doors open. A few of the rooms still had the mattress on the floor. One of the destroyed rooms even had someone, who I can only presume was a worker, sleeping on the mattress. My room wasn't much better, although it wasn't bestroyed the conditions were hardly accommodating. The sliding glass door almost broke when I tried to open it and then I had to almost take it off the track to close it. Worst experience of my 40 year long life... I ended up sleeping in my friends room in a different hotel on the spare bed with 2 other ppl. I've emailed the Highwayman Inn for a refund but have yet to hear back from them.

*Note* This review applies to the hotel in its current state under renovation. When we arrived we did not know the hotel was undergoing renovations. We had booked about a month in advance. This means the pool area was closed and there was garbage everywhere from old rooms being gutted. The pool being closed was a letdown as I remeber them having a great pool, hot tub, and sauna area. We were offered breakfast vouchers for the inconvenience. Our group had 3 rooms booked. In one room the tv was broken and we had to change rooms, in another room the tv remote was broken. There were desk lamps in each room not plugged into anything and not positioned near plugs. The newly renovated rooms look nice and modern. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were awful, and bedspread was thin. Breakfast was mediocre. It was a small buffet-style breakfast. Nothing special. Overall not a great experience on our trip. When the renovations are complete, I imagine it will be a nice place to stay, but avoid this place until they are complete.

I work here in town and when the weather too bad for the drive home I come here for a night. I was pleasantly surprised to find a recently renovated room. Beautiful! The restaurant has been replaced by an arcade room. Great for kids but not my cup of tea. I ordered in instead. There is a pool and hotub available. Opted out. Maybe next time. Free WiFi.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Now I can look forward to the next layover. Thank you for the reno! Love love love!

The Highwayman is getting a facelift! We stayed on the almost-finished 3rd floor, with all new furnishings, beds and decor, and who doesn't like " all new!"? It's going to be quite nice, but it will not be The Highwayman! It will soon join the Choice chain as a Quality Inn.
It still has a huge pool and a great location in Orillia, ON.

Our room was comfortable with a large balcony. The attached restaurant had delicious food. Service was great in both the restaurant and the registration desk. They seem to be doing some renovations, which are much needed. Our room smelled fairly strongly of deodorizer and cigarette smoke, mainly due to the ancient carpets. A few minutes with the sliding balcony door open freshened it up a bit. Overall, it was a good stay.

We stayed there 2 nights June 14th and 15th room 124. My daughter left her present for her friend and it was stolen. Opt out of house keeping and should you forget anything it will be stolen. A $50 gift certificate for sports check a card and gold neclace with a pineapple pendant gone. Could I leave a negative star I would.

I just attended a banquet at this location, I have to say how disappointed my family was! My parents were awarded a life time achievement award, which to me is a big deal. There wasn't enough food to go around, the tables were dirty, along with dishes. Bathroom was not stocked properly , among other things. I can't imagine paying to to stay here.

I have been working with Kelly for my events at the Orillia Quality Inn. The staff is incredible, the location is convenient, beds are comfy. It truly is incredible.

If youre looking for a place that gives excellent customer service and truly cares, this is the place for you!!!

Greg and Kelly are both excellent and a pleasure to deal with. We will continue to use this location over and over and over again for our workshops.

Only stayed there one night with my 2 daughters and we left the next morning. The place was clean, warm, had everything we needed. We went swimming, ordered 241 pizza. We had a great night. And none of this would have been possible without the help and understanding of their front desk employee Greg. There were a couple of hiccups on my end and he worked with me to make the night possible. Thank you Greg.

When I arrived at the hotel I was delighted to see a beautiful entryway with bright flowers. It made for a great beginning to a fantastic stay. The room was clean and really nice. I think it has been recently renovated? But I will be back some day soon!

Dirty tile floors, vanity and vanity faucet with a haze. Wipe them with a white room towel and the towel is black.

No juice served with complimentary breakfast without having to pay for it at $140/ night.

Better service and cleanliness at hotels with significantly lower rates.

I stayed last week and let me tell you that the reviews don't do this hotel justice. From the moment I walked through the door Mellissa said hello. When I got to my room I was stunned by the lovely walk through the open raised pool area. When I got to my room it was clean and spacious. After a well needed rest after a long day of traveling, I woke up and had breakfast in what I could only describe as a kids paradise. The free breakfast was an added bonus. When I spoke to Kacey during check out she was quick and professional and actually asked me how my stay was.

Overall it was an amazing stay. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

It might be a little bit of a stretch to give this hotel a 2 star to be honest. It was old and dirty and smelled of mold inside. As we got into our room and opened the balcony door we noticed a group of people on the ground floor below having a wok dinner and frying up food right below us. When we checked the sheets there were blood stains on them. Went to the front desk to get them replaced and the nice lady said she would be right there. She showed up to change the sheets and had to go through 3 sets before she found a sheet that didn't have any stains on it... So the complaints that people have about cleanliness.. Are definitely legit. I would only stay here as a last resort..

For me, the hotel was just to spend a night to sleep, nothing too fancy. Rooms were clean ( eg no bedbugs, etc ), nothing to complain about. The shower stall had no place to place the soap on, personally I don't like the idea of placing the soap on the floor. My main thing I will point out is the fact during the booking process via Expedia.ca there was no indication that there would be any hotel surcharge of $5 upon check-out, that caught me by surprised ( a surprise extra charge out of nowhere ). Personally in my opinion, if the hotel needed to charge the extra $5 dollars, it should be in the all-in pricing, not as a separate item. The hotel staff was at least able to remove that $5 surcharge after chasing after it. Overall, it's 4/5 star (I would have given it 5/5 if it wasn't for that surcharge issue).

Incredibly poor place to stay for the high price. Staff not friendly upon check in. The room needed a deep clean. There was hair and caked on dirt in the bathroom corners. The tub was yellow around the edge with orange coloured soap scum. We arrived to 2 towels in the bathroom with 1 facecloth for 3 guests. The towels were discoloured, old and very stained . Major shortage on towels. We asked for towels mulitiple times and staff stated they were short on towels because they weren t cleaned the night before by laundry staff. Bed covers also had stains on them. Wifi is horrible . Most of our visit we couldn t get connected and when we finally did it was very poor. This place needs huge improvements on housekeeping. We would never stay here again. Very disappointing because it has the potential to be great.
The pool is a great size. The deck around the pool was absolutely filthy , huge clumps of hair and dirt everywhere and no towels anywhere for the guests.

On a positive note... the beds were very comfortable, the rooms and hallways are very spacious and the balconies were great.

Clean this place up! So dirty!

We have used only the pool area. A very nice good size pool and jacuzzi. Lots of fun for kids. The clearness is ok and lack of towels is a definite minus. Seriously guys, a few towels in the swimming area are a must, if you allow day use...

Location: Awesome! So close by to all places, Zehrs, Shoppers, Tim's, Walmart, grocery stores, downtown. Rooms: Awesome! Everything was clean and the AC was already set up (especially with +35 degree weather and high humidity, it felt heavenly). Beds were comfy and there was Netflix. Wifi was not the best, but functional during non busy hours. Service: Good. We came in a bit earlier than check-in and our room wasn't ready which was expected and the receptionist was kind enough to call them again about the status. Came back to a new receptionist and my partner was not told there would be a security deposit so saw a transaction for $200 pending. It wasn't an issue to me as I explained it to him, but for someone such as my partner who doesn't travel often, he was a bit irritated on how she didn't explain the breakdown of why she's taking his credit card when the room was paid for.

Great customer service and good location. However, when we checked in, we found that our comforters had blood stains on them. We showed it to the staff and they changed it but it was horrible to see that and know that they did not change the bedding. We put down towels on the pillows in case those covers were not changed either.

The room was average, nothing special, but for the price was good. Pet friendly, which I love. Microwave and fridge in room so was easy to heat up food. Bath was nicer than mine at home and was well enjoyed. Didnt get a chance to eat at the hotel or swim, but these amenities were available. Close by many restaurants and pretty much anything you need. Would return.

This place needs a wrecking ball. Not lipstick. Pool renovations are pretty rough and pool area is often dirty/ lots of different bugs on the floors. The pool deck has lots of low puddle spots leaving many areas slippery and unable to drain. The pool has had some issues with being clean on a few occasions, but staff has rectified the issue and seems to be keeping a better eye on the pool itself. Hopefully the rest of the renovation improves the overall condition as a whole.

Not worth $189 a night. Staff was nice and friendly, room was clean and bed comfortable. Room was not ready and we had to wait 45 mins with 2 young children in the lobby. The Wi-Fi was down or spotty at best, the cable was so lose that the tv looked like snow was falling, the balcony door did not securely shut, and I had to get my room key reprogrammed 3 times. This was just my experience however we were there for a wedding. A family member had to dress I the boardroom while others were cramming into any available room to get ready for the wedding. Second time staying there and it will be my last.
